World traveler, Carla goes to Ireland for her best friends wedding, but takes a bit of a detour when she learns that best man Eamon wants to travel in his land rover. It's a fun romance between two characters that hit it off immediately. I thought a lot of the part's with Carla's dad Biggie, who has early onset dementia, were tough, but I enjoyed my read overall.

A trip to Ireland for a wedding, one main character who's a frequent traveler and another who works in tech -- seemed like this one would work for me, especially after I really enjoyed Float Plan. And a narration by Sarah Naughton is a definite selling point (I've enjoyed other books she's narrated).

But after awhile, I found myself listing things that bothered me, rather than general character or plot notes. I think overall the characterization isn't working for me. Carla is supposed to be this knowledgeable traveler, but makes some questionable choices -- like grabbing just one gallon of water for a backcountry overnight for two people (with no mention of water on the trail, packing a water filter, etc.).

And then the plot took a turn, which is where the book really lost me. I cannot believe someone who flew to another country for their best friend's wedding would just casually delay their arrival by at least two nights... because they want to have a fling? With someone who would be at the wedding anyway! Carla having a front-row seat to how short life is but then choosing to miss out on rare time with her best friend, especially surrounding a special event in that friend's life, just didn't compute for me.

To be sure, the book's short length, instalove, and hunky love interest might work well for other readers. Note it seems to be an open-door romance.

DNF at 20%.

One of the best parts of this book is the demonstration of multiple types of love: friendships, family (chosen and given), romantic love, and self-love. The main characters and supporting cast are realistic and have faults. The banter is amazing. The depiction of a family member suffering with loosing their memories is also very well handled.

Although the book suffers from an Insta-lovey scenario between the main characters, they both have struggles that they overcome and grow as people. The adventures “off the map” added some weird scenarios but overall this book was a very fun read!

I have not read any other books in their series or by this author. This can be read as a standalone. I am eager to read other books by this author because I was so impressed by this one.

Meeting at a pub called The Confessional Booth Eamon Sullivan and Carla Black have a spark from the moment they meet. Both in Ireland to be in a wedding, they take a couple detours to explore. But is their passion only there to survive this vacation or will it grow through the hard stuff too.

This romance starts fast with a kiss and a night together. Why stop there. These two really embrace hot vacation relations. Small spoiler in the first chapters and throughout the book of The Float Plan with many references to Anna and Keane. Unlike the Float Plan, this one has more sex than growth, each avoiding family issues. My favorite part, minus the sexy Irish man, is the absolute and true friendship between Carla and Anna. This was an enjoyable and short read. I devoured it in one day.

This book is everything a good romcom should be. Yes it’s cute, yes there’s spice, and yes there’s banter, BUT there are ALSO complex characters and an engaging plot. I loved that this book lets its heroine and hero be full people struggling with real challenges. Though their love story is a bit of a whirlwind the pacing of their relationship felt totally plausible to me. The narration of the audiobook was excellent. Thanks to NetGalley, Macmillan audio, and St, Martin’s for the opportunity to reach this joy of a book.

Off the Map is my first Trish Doller book and I'll definitely be looking up her backlist. Sarah Naughton did a fabulous job! She had different voices for different characters and all the accents!! It was really fun to listen to! I enjoyed following Carla on her journey. I'm not a big fan of sleeping with a guy you met 5 min ago but it worked for Carla. Her dad has Alzheimers and that was a little hard as we're going through that with my Gma right now but I still enjoyed the story! A trigger warning would've been nice. I really enjoyed hearing about Ireland! And there were some hilarious moments along with some truly sad moments. I enjoy when books give you all the feels and includes strong family and friend relationships along with the romantic ones. Great audiobook!!!

Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for my reveiw audiobook!

I didn't realize this was the third book in a series until after I read it, but I couldn't even tell. Great stand-alone novel. The adventure started off very early with a good amount of spice, which I wasn't expecting, but was great with the story line. The family back story was heartbreaking and heart warming at the same time. I really really enjoyed this book. I listened to the audiobook which was also great, the narrator did a great job separating the character voices.

Thank you to NetGalley, Trish Doller, and Macmillan Audio for an advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Carla Black’s life motto is “here for a good time, not for a long time.” Non-commital Carla travels to Ireland for her friend's wedding, and finds out what she has been missing - love.

This romcom starts off spicy when Carla and Eamon meet before the wedding. The two encounter a lot of adventure and finally arrive slightly late to the wedding. Along the way, Carla realizes she is homesick and wants to spend as much time with her father while she can. Even though she is in love with Eamon, she’s not willing to keep adventuring with him. Eamon reappears when Carla's father dies, and the two take off on their next adventure together.

A cute and quick romcom, but I couldn't quite connect with the characters (as fast as they seemed to connect in the book).

"Here for a good time, not for a long time"

As a huge fan of Doller's last two books, I was so excited to read her next rom com. I felt like this one was a little different than her first two. This one had an instant sexual connection and a slow development of friendship- where the other two were the opposite. Instalove is not my favorite, but I still enjoyed Carla and Eamon's relationship.

What I loved about this story was the father/daughter storyline. Carla is dealing with the recent dementia diagnosis for her father. The parts of this novel, where Carla was spending time with her dad, were my favorite.

As far as the audiobook, I loved the narrator! She really brought the story to life.

Read this if you love: instant love/lust, travel books. Dublin, or father/daughter stories.

This story had me thinking about my next vacation...I would love to go to Dublin one day.

Off The Map, third in the Beck Sisters series but definitely a standalone, by romantic comedy author Trish Doller is a surprisingly emotional, steamy rom com that had me in tears crying and laughing all night.

Carla travels the world, earns money as a bartender, enjoying the adventures of a nomad life. Her Dad made her promise to enjoy life and not stay home to watch his mind deteriorate from dementia. She's heading to Dublin for her best friend's wedding and isn't prepared when the groom's brother Eamon picks her up at the airport for their instant chemistry.

Eamon is a big alpha male who is restless with life. A digital map maker he has never left his hometown. He takes his responsibilities as big brother and faithful son to heart. Then he meets Carla.

With detours that have them making out while sheep cross the road, trapped on an over turn jeep while a bull holds them captive (the cover is from that hilarious scene), and late night talks they fall in love.

It was the heartache in narrator Sarah Naughton 's voice, the hitches when she says, "I wish I could remove my heart til it stops aching," that made this more than a typical rom com. The scenes between Carla and her Dad will break you, especially when he puts his hand over his heart and tells her, "Even though you might not always be in my mind you will always be here."

Seeing Eamon's family together Carla rushes home to her father despite his wishes, knowing Eamon won't leave his own family.

I enjoyed this journey of falling in love, discovering oneself and the message of communication and family. I also laughed a lot. My favorite line was, "You are very wise like if Dolly Parton and Yoda had a baby." Off The Map is right on target.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from MacMillan Audio via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Carla Black has spent most of her life traveling the world. First with her dad and then solo as she struggles with the reality that her dad has dementia. Encouraged by her father to stay away and travel, instead of watch him deteriorate, Carla jumps from one adventure to another. Then her world collides with digital Cartographer, Eamon Sullivan. Eamon and Carla are in Dublin for a wedding that they are both in. Their quick drive to the wedding destination turns into a wild adventure. Carla and Eamon go off-roading, hiking, and encounter an angry bull all while fielding phone calls from the bride and groom. An unexpected adventure also leads to unexpected love. Carla has to decide what her heart really wants. Stay with Eamon and risk getting hurt? Go back home to be with her dad? Settle down and place roots? This fun adventure-filled romance had surprising, tear-inducing moments with some big feels. A delightful listening experience for sure.

This was good. It had some parts I adored, and some parts I didn’t. It was funny and interesting, I liked the characters, I liked all the different settings. I enjoy how this series goes over some heavy topics with some lighter stuff sprinkled in. I do feel like this is the lightest one out of the 3, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I do think this one was steamier than the previous books, I’m not complaining, but it did contribute to the insta love kind of vibe, which isn’t super my jam. It was adorable though, and it passed the time more than fine. I would still read more from this author, I enjoy her writing a lot.

So the sweet cover did not prep me for the rather spicy contents! (Insert crying-with-laughter emoji here!) I won’t be offering this up as a suggestion in class! (More emojis!) That said, the basic premise of this really spoke to my wanderlust-filled heart. That storyline alone would have been enough. I suspected the secondary storyline would wasn’t just filler, I wasn’t positive that it would play out the way that it did. But I am so glad it did. Somehow this super-spicy (like ghost pepper spice) romance became a commentary on a life well lived. I found myself wiping away more than a few tears.

The narrator was really fabulous. The accent shifting always impresses me. I’m always a bit peeved by “southern” accents that are not at all southern, but the accent donned for Stella’s character was less faux steel magnolia than most.

I loved the narrator. I loved this book. I’m so sad this series is over and this book absolutely broke me. I bawled.

⚠️Spoilers⚠️

I’m going to start my review with the content warnings, they will be spoilers. However the author did not list them in the beginning of the book and one of these is a huge trigger for me and I would have preferred to know about it before I started this book.

CW: parent with Alzheimer’s, death of a parent on page, parental abandonment

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I was surprised about how steamy this book was compared to the other books in this series, it was a nice surprise. However, I’m not a huge fan of the MC’s hooking up so early on in a book. It just felt super sudden and I would have preferred more build up.

There were parts of this book I really loved and other parts that annoyed me because they didn’t make any sense to my analytical mind.

This book dealt with some really heavy subjects and I was basically sobbing for the last 4 chapters.

I did a hybrid read and switched between listening to the audiobook and reading the ebook and the narrator of the audiobook was fantastic!

I started this book a while ago and just could not get into it.
The beginning felt like a complete smut overload with very little plot line, but that did completely turn around about
35-40% in. After that, I really liked it! It was a true story of family, friendship, and love. Carla is avoiding anything having to do with feelings including her newfound FWB Eamon and her dementia ridden father Biggie. If I just read The last 60% of the book, it would probably be a 4 or 4.25 rated book. The beginning threw me a bit but overall, it was a good, entertaining and heartfelt read.
3.5 stars rounded up.

This is the story of Carla a woman who loves and lives to travel. Her father Biggie enforced her love of wanderlust. Carla travels around in her Jeep with no end in sight. She will settle in Florida when she needs to work and earn some money to set off again.

Eamon is a cartographer who creates digital maps. Eamon is sent to pick up Carla for his brothers wedding as Carla is the bridesmaid. They are set to drive across Ireland to get to the wedding destination when they go off the beaten path a few times.

I had requested this as a quick last minute audiobook for a long drive I had. I was pleasantly surprised at how great this was. I’ve been to Ireland before so the Irish accents and and background were perfect. I loved the adventures and connection Carla and Eamon had. And the relationship between Carla and her father Biggie made me tear up many times. It was a heartwarming relationship in this story.

Doller really knows how to nail a perfect setting for her stories! Just like the sailing of the ocean in Float Plan and a quaint hotel on an island in The Suite Spot, this one delivers the perfect escapism and adventure around the beautiful country of Ireland!

This series reminds me very much of the Spark Sisters by Helena Hunting and I’m learning that I really enjoy these types of continuations where we get tiny updates and glimpses from our past characters but whole new storylines featuring supporting casts from previous work!

Now don’t get me wrong, is the maid of honor and best man trope super cliché? Totally! Is it still entertaining to witness their inevitable sizzling and combustible tension? Absolutely!

Coming in under 300 pages, this was a super quick read and listen that was charming, funny and even heartfelt! Although it was short, sweet and certainly cute, I found myself wanting just a little bit more.

I inhaled this trilogy! I loved each installment, but Off the Map is my personal favorite (plus the heat is turned WAY up)! Carla (honorary Beck sister) and Eamon (Keane from Float Plan’s brother) are both so special.
I found out through genealogy tests that I’m Irish… had NO clue… so I had my map out and was imagining I was exploring Ireland with them!

If you haven’t met the Beck Sisters, this works as a stand-alone but it helps with background knowledge to read them all. (Float Plan, The Suite Spot)
I LOVED them all on audio! The accents were divine.

Off the Map is a sweet and spicy romance about a couple who both happen to be at the right place at the right time. I had a good time reading this as I loved Trish Doller’s writing and the plot of this was a trope that I loved. However, I didn’t like the couple as much as I wanted to because the Insta love between Carla and Eamon was too fast for me to truly connect with it. I would definitely read more from this author. Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the gifted copy!
