I follow this writer on TikTok, and I was so excited to read her book. Sophie beautifully captured first love and heartbreak and coming of age. She has a way of nailing endings. You walk away feeling like she got you.. in the most lovely way.
really enjoyed this poetry collection because of the message behind it i feel like alot of these poems will resonate with the reader maybe if they are going through a breakup , self love, just seeing themselves in the poetry and relating today. This poetry had alot of uplifting moments as well and it was very comforting to read. you can tell that these came from places of vulnerability that the author went through and i love when people put times they went through into art and writing. Overall great piece of work!
Also i love love the cover the colors together and the flower is just so cute for a poetry novel! I feel like everyone could relate to a poem in this novel. If you like poetry definitely read this book!
A beautiful read of love, loss and finding your inner strength. The writing was beautiful and flowed well. I especially liked the lyrical parts. A sweet, short read others should definitely give a try.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC.

I really enjoyed the style of poetry used here, and liked the overall message of having written these to remember — the first loves, losses, heartbreak, and the transitional stages of life and growing up.
Only a few passages seemed to resonate or stick out to me, which is something I try to look for in poetry, but overall I did enjoy my time spent reading this.
This is a strong debut collection from Sophie with a clear voice, and I’m looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next!
Readers that are already familiar with Sophie’s work from TikTok will recognize several existing poems in here as well.
*The acknowledgements mention illustrations alongside the words which weren’t included in the arc copy, so I’ll definitely have to revisit this after publication to see if there’s anything else added.
“There’s no line to cross by twenty-three or thirty; there’s no box you have to check. You’re a completely unique person with your own set of experiences.”
Someone Somewhere Maybe is a decently written collection of poetry, but they certainly feel like a new poet's writings. I think the author has promise; I related more to her poems when they used more ethereal language and less fact-based (your Jeep, Youtube, etc)
I went into this not having followed Sophie Diener before, and I was blown away. This collection of poems is so incisive and honest, and the way Sophie speaks to and about her younger self is a stunning example of how we should all be kind to ourselves.
There are a few poems that speak directly to the experience of panic attacks that I found especially shattering. And the way she captures the all-consuming heartbreak of first love is really special.
I may be approaching 40 and a few decades away from some of these experiences, but the poems in Someone Somewhere Maybe took me right back to my youth. I'll be buying a hard copy so I can revisit these when I need a reminder that we will all be okay.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's for the ARC.
I don't normally read books of poetry but I liked the description of this book. Grateful to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC for the purpose of this review. I'm giving it five stars. I thought it was full of beautiful poems. I connected to the youthful bits in the beginning and found the voice aged as the author writes more about her young adult years. I loved them!
Agh, this was an excellent way to start my month of reading for March. Short and sweet and to the point, but not simultaneously because Someone Somewhere Maybe: Poems hit me STRAIGHT in the feels. This collection of poems is set to hit shelves on September 26, 2023, and I am so thankful to NetGalley, Sophie Diener, and St. Martin's Griffin of St.Martin's Press for granting advanced access to this brutally honest and emotionally scarring work of art.
Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the free book.
This is a beautiful collection of poetry that captures early adulthood so well. There's some heartbreak, growing up, growing wise, and learning to love again. It's a poetry book that I can see myself visiting again and again. The poems on heartbreak captured these emotions so deeply. These scenes are transportive and vivid. Packed full of emotion and description, so many readers are going to be able to relate or have empathy for these situations. It's a great book to read a few poems at a time or sit down with for an afternoon of reading.
Sophie Diener is a poet who writes about mental health, body image, loving, being loved, and getting our hearts broken. Someone Somewhere Maybe is her debut collection and it reads like a letter to all of the parts and pieces of her younger self. She recalls the high of falling in love as a teenager and the heartbreak of saying good-bye when leaving for college. Her poetry highlights the moments we long for reconnection and question whether or not the disconnection that occurred in important relationships could be our own unintentional making.
All of the obsessive and intrusive thoughts and feelings we wade through when we are healing from heartbreak are found within these beautiful pages. I enjoyed reading this collection and my favorite poem of all would probably be the p0em she writes to her eighteen year old self. For me, it is a reminder of the time in a girl's life when she leaves girlish things behind and embraces the journey of becoming a woman.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the e-arc copy!
A gorgeous collection of poems about first love, heartbreak, loss, identity, and self worth. They all felt so cohesive and just like a book you would want to read on a warm day with a cup of tea. I think my favorite of the poems would be between Autumn and Feelings, this was a great read for fans of poetry!
