Oh how I LOVE this book so so much - I read it I one sitting and it was just swoonworthy for me. I love the fake dating trope and I feel that Andi Burke executed it flawlessly in this book. This was incredibly heartfelt and included great panic & anxiety disorder representation and included end of life care with a gentle hand. I would definitely check trigger warnings though!

I adored both main characters and thought they were quirky, but not in an over the top way. More like a "real human" kind of way - both were imperfect and had some serious growing to do as they slowly fell in love. While they both crushed on one another immediately, it developed into something deep and beautiful throughout the book. The only think I would change is I wouldn't have the third act break up - except if this book has to have one, it is yet another thing the author did well!

This book made me laugh, cry, and feel everything in between. The spice scenes were perfect, the best friends supportive, and the romance felt amazing!

Fly With Me is a fun, steamy, and emotional read. It follows a nurse afraid of flying as she fake dates a pilot. I was happy, I was sad, and all the emotions in between.

This book touches on some tougher subjects which I appreciated. Burke took the utmost care when writing these conversations and it shows. These conversations are so important to have because it isn’t just a fictional issue.

I loved Olive and Stella’s relationship. They are the definition of opposites attract. I mean, one flies planes for a living and the other is afraid of flying. Their personalities are also very different, but they meshed so well together. Of course there was teasing over the meticulous binder organizations, but it was all in good fun.

The side characters are well written as well. Olive’s friends had me laughing throughout the book. My favorite character has to be Stella’s dad, even if he was one of the more minor characters.

Overall, I enjoyed this read and would recommend to anyone looking for romance with some emotion behind it.

4.5 stars out of 5. I want to give it a 5 (especially as I started reading this book on a flight next to a very attractive person in scrubs. Sadly they did not take the hint) but the book didn't quite take me to a 5.

Olive is afraid of flying but she and her flight end up going viral when a video of her saving the life of a fellow passenger is put online. Pilot Stella, impressed by Olive and looking for a way to break into the boys club of pilots, sets up a fake dating scenario that will benefit them both.

Overall, I loved the plot, the romance between Stella and Olive feels natural, especially during the early days of infatuation. However, I struggled that the plot moved forward based on the plethora of family drama that surrounded them, not on their own struggles getting to know each other. And let me just say, the loss of half a star is based on the PLENTIFUL SUPPLY of family drama this fake relationship had to deal with.

All in all, I highly suggest this book, Thank you so much to Netgalley and St. Martin's Griffin for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review. I squealed with joy when I saw it on my Netgalley shelf.

This wasn’t for me. I thought the story wasn’t very original. I didn’t really care for the main characters. I wouldn’t suggest this one.

Let me begin by saying I was surprised to learn this is Andie Burke’s debut novel.
Fly With Me is well written and thoroughly enjoyable, even before the edits.
The MCs, Olive and Stella, were believable, likable, and relatable until the very end. Each MC was given so much depth, the banter was fun and witty, the storyline progressed quickly without leaving obvious plot holes in its wake, and even side characters were fleshed out enough to keep me interested in them. I even found myself chuckling out loud on several occasions, which is a rarity. Olive’s mental struggles and family troubles hit so painfully close to home that I caught myself wincing in sympathy in some ways places. I’m not a fan of miscommunication causing easily avoidable drama for characters but I think it was done well in this case. I loved the varied representation in this book and the commentary on misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia in a male dominated field. The book may be triggering for some, especially those who deal with depression and anxiety and those who have lost someone they loved long before they actually passed away. The only disappointment was realizing it was coming to an end.
Overall, Fly With Me is a f|f romance novel with more depth than I’ve seen from many seasoned authors and Andie Burke should be proud of this debut. I hope to see more from Andie, including a follow up for Fly With Me.

The scenarios that got them together was unrealistic and because of this prolonged proximity, their chemistry was formed too quick. They kissed so soon. There is no romantic tension between them since their relationship is very fast paced.

Olive and Stella meet on a plane Stella is the co-pilot of after Olive helps a passenger with a medical emergency. But Olive is now going to miss an event she was headed to.
Stella is going to get her there.
As this story moves on events have them posing as a fake couple to help Stella with a promotion but of course things won’t go smoothly, there’s a jealous ex in Olive’s past who keeps getting in the way.
I enjoyed the development of these two characters and the friendship as they started growing closer.
Great story, loved it.

The writing is incredibly compelling - I was on page 70 before I even looked up and it felt like no time had passed. Steamy, intriguing, compassionate writing. Loved it

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Griffin for the eARC of Fly With Me in exchange for my honest review!

This book was a sweet sapphic romance that had fake dating to lovers which is always a treat when done right! There were a lot of moving parts and a lot of elements in this but it all came together really well in the end. I found myself easily rooting for the characters because their connection felt genuine. This book does deal with some heavy themes as well so be sure to check TWs.

2.5⭐️

thank you to netgalley for the earc!

i wanted to like this more than i did, and i'm sad that it just didn't live up. while there were some aspects i liked, the bad heavily outweighed the good for me.

****potential spoilers below****

what i liked:
- our mc olive -> i related to a lot of her inner monologue and overall really liked her.
- olive's brother jake -> even though he wasn't even an active character, i could feel their love for each other.

what i didn't like:
- the love interest, stella -> she seemed like SUCH a flat character, and this may be due to the single pov. i honestly could not deal with her back and forth with olive, of wanting to be just friends or wanting to blur the lines. also, the fact that it wasn't made known that she was Latina until 25% in felt like that was just added in last minute. besides her mentioning it one or twice and her dad calling her mija or mijita, the rep felt really underdeveloped.
- ALL of olive's family (besides jake obvi). -> her sister needed to grow a backbone. her parents were THE WORST. i literally could not deal with them everytime they were on page. their treatment of olive was so uncalled for and i wish she had gone no-contact with them ages ago, but like i also know why she didn't. her mother rubbed me wrong the most and quickly made my list of "characters i hate".
- olive's ex, lindsay -> not only was she a manipulative, selfish, ableist piece of shit, but i don't feel like olive truly dealt with what she did throughout the book but especially at the end. there wasn't really OW drama, but her constant addition to the plot was uncalled for and wasn't resolved.

there is probably more i didn't like, but i am tired of thinking of this book. i loved olive, i really like this cover, but this one just didn't do it for me.

⚠️: death, grief, toxic relationship (past ex), religious bigotry, gaslighting, emotional abuse, ableism, chronic illness (celiac), panic attacks/disorders, terminal illness (Parkinson's), lesbophobia, homophobia, misogyny, transphobia, medical content, car accident

this book. this book. THIS BOOK

Olive Murphy is an ER nurse with a major fear of flying. On her flight to run a marathon in honor of her brother, an in-flight medical emergency results in Olive saveing a life. However, she ends up stranded in the Atlanta airport. But then Stella Soriano, the gorgeous copilot, offers to drive her to the race. The video of Olive being a hero on the plane does viral and benefits Stellas airline. Stella wants to make captain. Stella's solution -- she and Olive fake date to get them both what they want.

I loved loved loved this book. This book is hilarious, this book is emotional, this book is h o r n y. The slowburn is phenomenal and I fell in love with both Olive and Stella.

This is such a strong and memorable debut! Burke has a real talent for writing authentic, complicated characters. No character in this book is without flaws, but these flaws felt real and and honest as opposed to just plot devices. This is three-dimensional writing to its core.

I think what most impressed me about this book outside of the chemistry between our leading ladies is that the ending of this book did not feel forced or saccrine. This is a romance, so you get your happy ever after, but every conflict and issue in the book is not magically wrapped up in the last 50 pages. I have no idea if there will be a second book, but these choices for an ending did not feel like a plot device for a secondbook, but rather congruent with reality that not every conflict gets resolved.

I also commend Burke for her content warning at the beginning of this book. Let's normalize being transparent about content warnings!

TLDR, a phenomenal book from a debut author.

I loved this so much!! Fake dating plus a bit of opposites attract (?) and pining is always a win for me. Be mindful of the content warnings for this one but it was such a fun, delightful read.

I will start by saying this book was provided to me for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for my first opportunity to review an ARC.

I love Sapphic fiction and fake dating is my favorite trope. I was very excited for Fly with Me because not only was it fake dating, but included two disaster characters, always a bonus. The book begins with Olive, an ER nurse, taking her first flight, even though she is terrified of flying. She is immediately thrust into a medical emergency on the plane which goes viral. The plane is diverted to attend to the medical needs and Olive is unable to make it to Florida for a marathon she is to run in honor of her brother. While publicly crying in the airport, co-pilot Stella steps up and offers to drive Olive the rest of the way.

The chemistry between the characters was obvious from the beginning. They of course dance around that and simply enjoy each other's company while pining for more. Olive's toxic ex is lurking in the background of this book foreshadowing what will be the hurdle Olive and Stella must overcome.

I enjoyed that both characters are a bit broken in different ways and are afraid to push too hard for what they want with each other. At times I did feel like the toxic ex was a bit forced and didn't quite fit in the story. There were also moments in the book where the character is going somewhere at the end of the chapter, but in the next chapter that destination or moment has no elaboration. I gave this book four stars because I did feel like the resolution was a bit too easy, there was no real moment when you feel like they won't end up together. There are also moments I would have liked to be longer or have more description.

That aside this is a very fun read with two adorable women falling for each other, while also being there for the hard stuff. I recommend this read if you enjoy a good heartfelt rom-com.

“Fly With Me” is Andie Burke's debut novel, with a fake relationship trope. It's a slow burn heartwarming cozy romance story, with well-developed main characters. Normally I’m not that into reading this sort of story as I usually prefer fantasy/sci-fi and historical novels, but after seeing some high praise reviews from writers that I know and trust, I knew I wanted to read for myself what the fuss was all about.

I was not disappointed with the storyline and read through the entire book in one sitting. The stress and heartache that accompanies being a caregiver are handled very well. I’ve personally been down that road and I know how depressed, insecure and withdrawn you can get. Andie Burke did a great job of giving each woman legitimate feelings for why they felt that they could not have a real relationship with any woman, much less each other.

There are some spicy scenes, so this is an 18 yr.+ novel. It’s also a standalone with an HEA ending. It’s the journey to getting there that will delight the reader.

Highly recommended.

I really, really loved this book. I spent my birthday reading, and I am so glad I got to spend it with this book. I am shocked that this is Andie Burke's debut novel, because it is so beautifully written, but I cannot wait to see what comes next from her.

First, it felt real, and not in the cheesy way of so many romance books, but in the "I've actually said this to my queer friends" way. This meant that I was amused and engrossed in the story every step of the way. The side characters were lovable even when they were giving Olive shit for her decisions (and Derek is completely valid, she often deserved the ribbing she got). Even the scenes in the hospital were so accurate, which makes sense given the author's own background in medicine.

Second, it was often laugh-out-loud funny at multiple points. "Don't drink and text beautiful women" is indeed a mantra to remember.

But most of all, it was powerful. The romance felt real in its complexities, the insecurities of the maybes-and-maybe-nots. The conflict was infuriating as a reader, but entirely understandable. The deep sorrow of Olive is palpable as she struggles with her family and honoring her brother's wishes. Stella's struggles with sexism in the aviation industry is all-too-accurate.

I highly recommend this book, and I hope it will join the ranks of other sapphic "classics." Many thanks to Netgalley, St. Martin's Press, and Andie Burke for the eARC. I look forward to buying a paper copy when it is released.

I am sorry but this just wasn’t my favorite read. I didn’t dislike it but also didn’t love it. The writing was okay. The cover was cute at least. Literally no other thoughts.

Although nurse Olive Murphy is afraid of flying, she braves a plane to run a marathon for her brother. Her first flight involves with a medical emergency, an Atlanta stopover and meeting the gorgeous co-pilot Stella Soriano. Stella wants a promotion to Captain more than anything, but navigating her misogynistic workplace can be a challenge. Realizing that a girlfriend might help her chances, she asks Olive to be her fake girlfriend. Together, Olive and Stella tackle glamourous balls, family drama and toxic exes!

Fly With Me is a lovely sapphic romance that I coincidentally read on the plane! Faking dating is my guilty pleasure trope, so I was excited to dive into this story. I loved Olive and Stella, and love how their relationship grew throughout the story. Both Olive and Stella deal with some heavy family story lines in addition to the romance, which helped flesh out the story and bring the two characters closer together. This was the perfect plane read!

Thank you St. Martin’s Griffin Press & NetGalley for the ARC.

I honestly think this would've been a 5/5 for me except for the slow burning DENIAL, which I don't typically mind but the MC were so perfect for each other, I was punching my pillow every time the word "friends" was mentioned. The invention of sliced bread had nothing on this relationship, it was all the clichés into one that everyone wants in their love life. Beautiful nurse with flying phobia, stunning pilot with commitment issues, meeting on a plane over something crazy, contract relationship and all, I adored them together. They were everything. I loved how careful, gentle, and sweet the two were, I loved how everything was just them. It all just worked for them. I loved the friends. Hated the ex. The family could've kicked rocks but overall, in my experience, I did not let the book down once because I just couldn't stop and wouldn't. It was fantastic. I hope someone else also enjoys it as much as I did.
