This could totally be a “me” thing and not necessarily an author thing but I did struggle a bit with it. It was good but not my favourite.
I loved the family dynamics and also the highlight on the health care system challenges, but the struggle came with the lack of communication and the “poor me” that Olive had…. Between those two things, I think I found myself wandering in my mind and totally distracted.
Olive and Stella are great characters and the fake dating troupe were endearing but I struggled with a few parts of it so I’ll chalk it up with a “not for me book”.
I’ll be honest with you, this request was a mistake. It was late at night and I wasn’t wearing my glasses…
However, I buckled up and owned my mistake.
I was pulled in by the raw honesty and authentic characters and surprised by the author’s ability to portray the fake-dating trope so well. I loved the inclusion of family drama and ensuing situations, real-life parallel challenges within healthcare, and the uneven representation within the workplace that added to the authenticity.
This was not a typical read for me and although I gave it a good try, I couldn’t get past the focus on the ex, the lack of communication between the characters, and Olive’s aerophobia, all of which detracted from the story.
I’m glad I pushed beyond my comfort zone; unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me.
I was gifted this copy by St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
2.5 stars. This book was okay for me. I liked the plot and the charming awkwardness of the characters but I couldn't really connect with the story or the characters. I didn't feel like I really understood Stella or Olive. There was nothing that really stood out to me, I found a lot of parts boring and wanted the book to be over. There were parts I enjoyed, I really liked the back-and-forth between Stella and Olive. The epilogue was cute, but I wish we saw the proposal.
This was a very good debut novel! I was impressed! The characters were all well developed with their own quirks and characteristics. There was a fun meet-cute and then a fake dating situation. I agree with some other reviewers that it was slightly too long and the toxic ex was given too many pages.
I look forward to reading more by Andie Burke!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a solid 3.5 star read. It took me a little while to get into but overall this was a heartwarming romance novel.
Stereotypical romance novel format but the development of Olive and Stella was so strong. This story is more than just a fluffy romance, it's a sad romance at the end of the day, We watch Olive deal with her family being torn apart over something that happened with her older brother. We watch Stella slowly lose her father to Parkinson's.
Things I liked
-There was a focus on the MCs relationships outside of just their romance, we saw Olive get to interact with her best friends, we saw Stella interact with co-workers and family
-The heavy topics were handled with care and respect, Andie's background as a nurse shines through.
-The premise was nailed - fake dating that didn't make me cringe.
Things I didn't like
-The third act conflict was just miscommunication and that always makes it feel like the conflict was just thrown in there to have a conflict
-Less "crazy ex', this character really took away from the beautiful story going on
-Olive's fear of flying didn't add much to the plot

A well developed story line with numerous plot layers that came together to create an overall extremely endearing storyline. It also highlights the challenging dynamics of women working in male dominated industries and the severe burnout experienced by healthcare workers. I was rooting for this opposites attract couple the whole story!
Sincere thanks to NetGalley and St Martins Press for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book was an amazing debut. A hilarious, queer, fake dating love story The characters are perfectly loveable. I appreciate that the two MCs have such well fleshed-out backstories that give them depth. They aren't just people in a (sometimes fake) relationship. They exist outside of it and have their own stories. I can't wait to see what else Andie Burke has in store for us!
Many thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy of this novel. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
A very typical romance novel. I know I usually hate media references in books, but it worked here, mostly because it wasn't ever truly direct, so it was fun instead of somewhat embarrassing.
Stella and Olive were both quite well developed although a lot of the side plots felt side-note-y. Olive's family situation was somewhat frustrating, mostly due to how little it was developed as it could have been a really interesting situation but it felt like it was left unresolved.
Stella was great, I enjoyed her. I wish we'd gotten to see her point of view, but that's just a personal preference for romances. I wish we'd seen more about Olive's mental health -- it was mentioned often but we didn't really get to see how she dealt with it except for once or twice. Derek was a bit too one dimensional for such a recurrent character but he served his purpose.
The novel did feel a little drawn out, but the trope-subversion added a new flair to the story and I found it quite enjoyable.
Overall, a fun romance with some darker topics worked in.
3.5/5 stars
I really wanted to like this book. It had amazing and lovable MCs, pretty good chemistry between Stella and Olive, and the fake dating trope. Some of the scenes were very enjoyable but some chapters just felt like a drag.
Stella and Olive had great chemistry and they were a very sweet couple. Olive had a very dysfunctional family and Stella's father was suffering from Parkinson's. The relationship between Stella and her father was pretty good whereas, in Olive's case, it seemed like every single family member hated her except her brother, and the issue wasn't resolved even at the end of the book.
Despite loving most of the book, I feel like this book was too long, and the lack of communication between the MCs was annoying and frustrating. Another thing that annoyed me was Olive explaining how everyone had Type A personalities and was perfect, everyone but her. Idk why it annoyed me but reading it again and again was frustrating.
Overall the story was good. If you like fake dating tropes you'll probably like this book.

Silly hearts stubbornly fall in love and it was completely fabulous to read. One leading lady comes with a color-coordinated, tabulated, found in triplicate, and organized into a three-ring binder list of goals and a steadfast plan to obtain them. The other? Well, her list of goals aren't her own, but her binder is chock full of medical knowledge, anxiety, family issues, and love for the neurotic pilot.
Is this a fake-dating trope? Yup. Is it like any trope book in the sapphic universe? Nope, it's as unique and as rare as a raise for our 2020 frontline workers. It tackles inequality, disease, religion, medicine, the good ole' boys, framily, furry support animals, love, betrayal, gaslighting, and so much more. It's a grab bag of lessons we all need to learn and for a debut book? I'm hooked. I cannot wait to see what stories bloom from this imagination in the future.
One word: adorable.
Okay, I’ll say more than one word. I never wanted to put this book down!! It’s such a cute sapphic romance with deep topics and lovable (and hate-able) characters.
I loved how much depth the story had. It wasn’t one-sided, only focused on the romance. The characters had backstory, motives for doing things, justification for actions, and just great depth! The storylines of having ill family and complicated relationships added to the depth and complexity of the story instead of just focusing on the one relationship of the MCs.
For a debut, I think this book is fantastic! It honestly felt like I was reading from an experienced author with the way things interconnected and were explained, maybe I’m reading too much into it but I really hope there will be more from this author!
Of course I have to talk about the main relationship itself. I started out hating Stella, but she (mostly) redeemed herself in the end. The chemistry between the two MCs is chefs kiss, from the way the consent parts were written to the little moments of love shared between them in little actions was so good.
Despite loving most of it, I do feel that the book is too long. It’s not unreasonably long, but I felt that it went on too long and could have been cut down more.
One thing I hate in romance books is a lack of communication. While there was reasoning for it, the lack of communication in some parts frustrated me beyond, distracting me from the story. However, by the end when things were finally hashed out, I lived for the communication!!
One more thing: Lindsay’s character. I get that she’s supposed to be hated, but her dialogue seemed cliche, almost like she was just echoing Olive’s inner thoughts instead of actually articulating her own thoughts. Idk, I just felt like her statements were blunt and unrealistic which was distracting. Okay, im just being nit-picky now.
Overall, I really did enjoy this story and I definitely want to read more by this author. Highly recommend!
I wanted to love this one so bad. The sexy couple, the unbelievable meet cute, the fake-dating trope -- it had all the makings of a great read.
Olive is an ER nurse who is afraid of flying. Stella is an incredible pilot who has been waiting too long for a captain's promotion. After Olive saves the life of a passenger in distress on Stella's flight, she is a viral sensation -- and Stella realizes she might also be the key to getting leadership at the airline to notice her and get her due.
The two become fast friends who turn on the PDA for the cameras -- because that never leads to feelings getting hurt!
But the personalities of both of these characters just didn't grab me. They both felt immature at times, despite the many very-adult problems they were both dealing with.
It seemed like all of the action & drama was packed into twenty pages and the rest of the book kind of just dragged.
Officially 4.5!
One of the best sapphic romances I've read I think. It was a little more serious and intense than I was expecting but I still really enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for fake dating!
There are some scenes I wish we got though: Stella's description of the meeting with the CEO, more of them fake dating in public.
This book started off great, lagged a little in the middle, but still ended strong for me. I would likely recommend it to others because overall I did enjoy it. I feel like this could've been 5 stars for me if it was dual POV. There were also a few pieces that weren't fully fleshed out in my opinion.
Since I did enjoy this one overall I will definitely check out future work from this author.
Sometimes I read a romance that completely surprises me with its depth. Fly with Me was definitely one of these.
Olive is a nurse that's having a rough 12 months. On her first ever plane trip, she saves a life and becomes an internet sensation where she also meets Stella, the co-pilot of that particular flight. Soon after, they road trip to Orlando and then hatch a plan to fake date for differing purposes and obviously, love ensues. It sounds light and fun, and it definitely is at times but it also features heavy topics that give this book a lot of depth. It was the depth that made me love this book.
Stella and Olive are two interesting characters in their own right, and I loved getting to know them throughout this novel. This book is 384 pages, and I loved the length as it gave the story the opportunity to build and the romance to develop organically.
Fly with Me is a great debut - highly recommend a read.

An enormous thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and of course, Andie Burke for providing me with an eARC of this book. I am voluntarily leaving a review, all opinions are my own.
This book was too cute. I’m a sucker for the fake dating trope, and this one was fantastic. I loved Stella and Olive so much and loved their story from beginning to end.
The pacing was a little weird at times, some parts felt like it was missing so much detail. But other than that, I loved the storyline overall and was happy with how everything played out.
This was an adorable romance.
This was a sweet, sweet story that I would recommend for a friend looking for an easy beach read. I was interested in the characters and even though we all knew the path of the story, I was still interested to see what happened along the way. It was a nice twist on the typical "partner for hire, then we fall in love" and I would read more from Andie Burke.
I loved this book!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
This book had everything i love in romance books. The banter, the humor, and the tension.. The book hooked me in right away with an exciting and fast paced scene and kept my interest throughout the story.
Despite their being instant chemistry, the characters didn’t end up together right off the bat I liked seeing them work towards a healthy relationship. I loved the plot of the story and how it touched on many more real world topics than just their relationship. I was never bored and even though there were times i wanted to SCREAM at the characters to get together, the author gave enough to keep the readers intrigued. :)
Olive and Stella have my heart. They’ve both been through so much and still managed to be the sweetest characters. They compliment each other so well and are 100% soulmates. Anytime a character was sad, I felt it. Anytime a character was happy, i felt it and I think Andie Burke did an amazing job on connecting her story to the reader.💗💗💗
What a great and sweet debut. Olive and Stella’s meet cute is a wild and semi traumatic rescue of a man in anaphylaxis on an air plane. After that Stella agrees to drive Olive to her ultimate destination so she can fulfill her brother’s wish of Olive running a half marathon.
When it happens that they live in the same town they agree to fake date so Stella can get ahead at work. The fake dating is sweet but pretty unbelievable from the start and there are some plot points that don’t seem to quite hold together. However the book so fun of heavy at times. Recommend

Ugh these two. They are such perfect little hot messes. Each comes in with some serious life things going on. Stella is determined to make Captain while dealing with her fathers illness.
Olive is an ER nurse who is trying to keep her life together. Family drama, a terrible ex, and complicated feelings all over the place.
I loved how Olive and Stella are so connected but so afraid to acknowledge it.
They are both delightfully complex and so loveable.
I enjoyed every moment of these two trying to not fall while diving right in.
