Alice and Iris are close friends thanks to the events that took place in THE AGATHAS, and they're itching to solve another mystery. There's a local story from years back that they're considering exploring, but it all comes to a screeching halt at a school Sadie Hawkins Dance. The dance takes place at the Castle of Castle Cove-Alice has naturally gone investigating the area to see if there's any truth the rumor of secret passages. She doesn't expect to find her former friends Park and Kennedy in one of the rooms; Park holding what appears to be a weapon covered in blood, and Kennedy bleeding on the floor. Alice and Iris shift gears to solve the mystery at hand. They know Park can't have hurt Kennedy herself, so they must dig way into Castle Cove's past to uncover the truth. An excellent follow-up to THE AGATHAS.

It’s been a few months since Iris & Alice solved the case of who killed their classmate & Alice’s best friend. Now they’re trying to figure out who attacked another girl during their school dance & how it’s connected to the death of a movie star in 1949.

I really enjoyed The Agatha’s & I’m happy to say that I liked this one just as much (possibly a little more?). It was fun trying to figure out how the two stories connected. The only thing I didn’t Ike was that it didn’t feel like there’s any growth for Alice’s character. Here’s hoping that the third book (please let there be a third book!) changes that.

I absolutely adored the second novel in The Agatha's. Alice and Iris are back at it again, trying to do what the adults around them cannot, properly solve a crime. Throughout this story you see Alice and Iris grow as people, and start to look forward to their lives beyond what they are right now. I would love to read more about these teen sleuths.

YA novels hold a special spot in my heart, and especially mystery YA novels. The Night in Question features likeable characters who are trying to solve their latest and greatest mystery - the attempted murder of someone close to their circle. I loved the twists, the scenery and the conversations between the characters. While some of it felt a bit unrealistic, I was hooked throughout the novel! I didn't see the ending coming, and I loved that! Thanks NetGalley for the advanced copy.

The sequel to The Agathas finds Iris and Alice investigating after a classmate is attacked at a dance. As they investigate, they discover ties to old Hollywood and an actress’s death.

I’m really enjoying this series! I think this was a really good sequel. It felt different enough from the first while still retaining all the great elements. I’m really interested to see where the next book goes. It seems like Iris and Alice might be separated and clearly Iris is pursuing the Remy case. Can’t wait for the next one!

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A good mystery, classifies as young adult yet can be equally appreciated by an adult audience. I loved the perseverance the teens showed in uncovering the truths and clearing the name of the innocent classmate. They kept at it, even beyond some safe choices, and made it work. A fun read.

After solving the murder of Brooke Donovan, Alice and Iris are thrilled to be doing something normal like attending their Sadie Hawkins dance at the historic Levy Castle. The castle though has a past and was the site of the death of young Hollywood actress Mona Moody almost a century ago. Alice can’t help but want to roam the halls and dig deeper into Mona’s death as she suspects the police got this one wrong too. Before long though she stumbles into a room where her ex friend Rebecca Kennedy is laying in a pool of blood and her other ex friend Helen Park is standing over her with a weapon. Just like that Iris and Alice are thrust into another case where long buried secrets won’t stay buried for long.

The Agathas are at it again and they did another bang up job! As someone who does not gravitate to series this is a definite exception. Alice and Iris continue their sleuthing with their group of misfits and are taken down a rabbit hole of secrets and lies. I love how the girls compliment each other perfectly and loved learning some history of Crystal Cove.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an eARC and Libro.fm educator program for providing an audiobook!
Alice and Iris are still reeling from the events from the first novel
-but now there is a new mystery to solve. During a Sadie Hawkins dance at a local castle, Alice walks into a room where a girl has been stabbed, and she sees Helen Park standing over the body with the weapon in her hand. Though the police have narrowed in as Park as the suspect due to Alice's own testimony, Iris and Alice realize she is innocent and the real perpetrator is still at large. However, this isn't as simple as they thought, and they realize that there are some cold cases that they may have to solve to help them crack this case too.
With hints of Evelyn Hugo (for a younger audience), this was SUCH a fun installment of the mystery series. Fans of Truly Devious, The Inheritance Games, and Agatha Christie will ADORE this series. I appreciated how much we got to see if other characters in this installment, and the mystery had so much intrigue from Hollywood & the past that it keeps you guessing. Can't wait for the next one!!
**note: I almost would say that this could stand alone from the other novel since it is a separate case, but it does refer back to the first book & the end spoils the first book too, so it is best to read them sequentially!

This was such a cute book! It had twists and turns that I did not see coming and I absolutely loved that the two main characters were two teens incredibly adept at solving crimes. Well written.

I absolutely adored The Agathas so I was super thrilled to get my hands on an early copy of the sequel. And...it definitely did not disappoint. The Night in Question doubled down on all my favorite parts of the first book (the character dynamics, the mystery that unspools at just the perfect pace to keep the reader on the edge of their seat, the fun multi-media epistolary elements, and the sharp, well-drawn and distinct characters). The mystery felt fresh and new and I loved getting to go back in Castle Cove history to solve it.

After reading The Agathas, I was looking forward to reading her next book. It did not disappoint! Alice and Iris find themselves involved in another murder in Castle Cove in this twisted YA mystery novel. My high school students are going to love this book as much as they love The Agathas.

Thank you for an advanced reader copy of this sequel!

4/5 stars.

Description: We're back in Castle Cove with Alice and Iris. This time, a dance turns deadly. Alice is trying to investigate the great mystery of Mona Moody's death. During her short investigation, she walks in to see two of her forms friends in a terrible situation: Rebecca Kennedy is bleeding and Helen Park is standing over her with a letter opener. Who hurt Kennedy? Why did Helen run? What's the truth and does it connect to Mona Moody? If you liked the first book, you'll definitely enjoy this sequel.

The goods:
- I liked the mystery (even if I figured it out a little earlier this time) ; it wasn't as plucked out of thin air as the last book.
- I appreciated 2 mysteries being explored at the same time (and hinted at a third book/mystery too?)
- I like how it wasn't the same formula from book 1
- The side characters continue to still my heart.

The loss of a star:
- I found Alice and Iris more unlikeable in this book and their redemption arcs were not as redeeming? I miss how much they actually worked with a lawyer/within the law in book 1.

Overall: If you liked book 1, book 2 will be a great addition to your shelf!

Having enjoyed the first in this YA mystery series I was excited to get an advance copy of this second from Netgalley… In The Agathas, an unlikely duo forms when smart, practical Iris is assigned to tutor popular rich girl Alice who doesn’t really apply herself to anything - except her love of Agatha Christie mysteries. They rely on that expertise when they team up to do some amateur sleuthing into the death of Alice’s former best friend. It was smart and satisfying and snappy; I liked this duo and their individual voices. This second book still has a bit of that spark, but overall a bit disappointing as the mystery and all the different elements the authors tried to weave in felt contrived and strained credulity (beyond what I’m willing to buy into for a YA mystery with teen sleuths outsmarting the police - and I’m usually willing to buy a lot because I think this genre is fun). Definitely need to have read the 1st one to get some of the background details in this one. But I’d maybe say just stick with that unless you really need a light and easy palate cleanser book.

●Thoughts ●
I had to read the first book to this series before reading the second book and this reminds me of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. The book is a bit unrealistic and a slow burn but overall it was an easy read and enjoyable as well. There are references to Agatha Christie quotes in book 1 and the reveals in the book are somewhat predictable! The book 2 was light fast read and the mystery aspect of the book was confusing 🥲. For Alice, the character development lacked and wished there was more to her development that weaved in with the plot 😭.

My favorite mystery and crime solving duo are back! What shenanigans can our girls Iris and Alice get into this time? Alice and Iris are off to their school dance in a castle that it’s own mysterious background! The castle is the site of the death of a 1940s movie starlet. Things take a turn for the worst at the dance with the attempted murder of their classmate. Now both of them are thrown into solving another case. Will they be able to solve who did this in time? Will they also be able to solve the mysterious death of the 1940s starlet?

What I enjoyed:
- both Iris and Alice are friendship goals! I love their friendship so much. These two make this series so good
- I enjoyed this one more than the first! I thought the multiple layers of mystery really gave it more depth.
- Fast paced, and I couldn’t put it down
- Did not see some of the twists coming!

I really hope there will be another book with these two! I seriously enjoyed this book so much. I loved the mystery, friendships, and everything in between. 4 stars out of 5! Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I loved the first Agathas so I was really excited to read this one. While still a fun read, there were times where I was a little confused on the plot as well as got lost, as there wasn't a clear connect. The characters were still well developed and I would love a third! Not a standalone read however.

Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Children's/Delacorte Press, Kathleen Glasgow and Liz Lawson for providing me with an ARC of this novel in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I was so excited to read this book after loving the first one, and I think I ended up liking this one even better! It picks up right where the first book left off, and the suspense never stops; there is always a new piece of evidence being discovered and analyzed. The chapters alternate point of view, an effective way of getting us inside both protagonists' heads as they think through the mystery. I love how Glasgow & Lawson connect the past and present worlds in the story to allow the girls to work to solve two interconnected mysteries simultaneously. Glasgow & Lawson flawlessly write a classic, old-style mystery, but keep their characters fresh and modern. I will definitely be recommending this book to my students who are mystery lovers, or to anyone who likes a good game of Clue or curling up with an Agatha Christie classic!

OMG, I LOVE THESE KIDS

Alice and Iris are barely getting back to normal after solving Brooke's murder when Alice falls right into an attempted murder. One of the Mains has been stabbed in the Castle, and another one is holding the bloody weapon!

Alice and Iris are trying to keep up with school assignments burgeoning crushes and tricky parental relationships, like most teens. But unlike most teens, indolent Alice's role models Agatha Christie, the Grande Dame of Murder Mysteries. Alice is like a rich Veronica Mars, more Velma than Daphne, a non-goth Wednesday Addams. Iris is, well, just trying to keep her head above water after alienating her mom and dealing with the fallout of having her abusive father put in jail.

I don't know how many more murders Castle Cove can stand (heck, Midsommer has a billion), but I need more of these. More hopeful than the Study In Charlotte series, you're going to get sucked in - old Hollywood, decades-old jealousies, secret passageways, and librarian researchers - mixed with current teen issues.

Another fun read by Glasgow & Lawson! Castle Cove high schoolers see a second student murdered in a short period of time -- this time at the legendary Levy Castle, during a school dance. Iris & Alice team up again to track down the killer, and in doing so unravel other town secrets, too.

I really enjoyed the plot of this story - maybe more than the last one - and how the series teases future mysteries too. I also love both Alice & Iris, and how their friendship plays out. Some of the romance felt a bit tacked-on, but since this is a series, I imagine it'll feel less so as the stories go on.

Many thanks to Delacorte Press and Netgalley for the ARC!
