This was a great mystery story! I'm glad I checked goodreads before diving in, because I was able to see it was a sequel and grabbed the first one! I don't think it was necessarily required to read prior, but it made it much more enjoyable to read in order. I adore the banter and dynamic between the two main characters. This is such a great unputdownable read and I highly recommend!

The Agathas has easily become my all time favorite book, so I could not put into words how excited I was to finally dive into The Night in Question!

Alice and Iris are back to not only solve another who-done-it mystery, but to also investigate the history and explore so many more secrets of Castle Cove. This book definitely met my expectations and just like the first one– had me HOOKED from the beginning!

Due to Alice and Iris’ dynamic being introduced and becoming so well established in the first book, the sequel continues to explore this dynamic by inserting them into some crazier situations! There is nothing I love more from this series than following Alice and Iris as they both grow and develop as characters alongside each other. I also truly cannot get enough of their witty banter.
The story even delves more into some side characters; and it feels as if the reader is exploring so much of Castle Cove alongside Alice and Iris!

I love the way The Agathas series continues to give us such amazing characters, memorable interactions, and spectacular writing. The book had me loud gasping, kicking my feet, and screaming into my pillow EVERY single chapter. I cannot wait to support its release so I can continue to yell about it to everyone! Thank you Kathleen Glasgow and Liz Lawson, I hope there’s more from Alice and Iris in the future! I absolutely adored The Night in Question, and here’s hoping for a third book!

Ohhhh, I absolutely loved The Agathas and was so excited to get my hands on The Night in Question by Kathleen Glasgow - and it didnot disappoint.

Everyone's favorite sleuths (well, maybe not the Castle Cove Police Department's favorites and definitely not Officer Thompson's favorites) are back in their second mystery. Picking up where the first book left off, Iris and Alice find themselves at Levy Castle for a school dance. There is plenty of high school drama as two of the girls fight and the entire school films away - but Alice really wants to explore the secret passages and Iris is busy wondering about a relationship with Cole... And then a classmate winds up stabbed while another is caught red-handed by Alice standing over her with a bloody letter opener. It's an open and shut case - or is it?

Alice and Iris know that the police will assume that everything unfolded as it appeared and call the case solved - so it's up to them to find out who really stabbed Rebecca Kennedy and save Helen Parks from going to jail. Add in the mystery death of movie star Mona Moody that occurred on the same property years before and the Agathas are off on another adventure with plenty of twists and turns, including some that could be deadly.

I definitely loved the first book just a tiny bit more, but this one more than met my expectations! I really hope there are more books to come from Kathleen Glasgow starring Iris and Alice.

Agathas series is my guilty pleasure and new addiction! Two misfits are smart crime-solvers using the methods of two legendary Christie characters: Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple! Just buckle up for another wild ride with Alice and Iris! These two girls are polar opposites. Alice comes from a very influential, powerful family and is neglected by her very busy and workaholic parents. She is reserved, patronizing, and keeps her feelings to herself. Iris lives with her mother after sending her harassing father to jail. She is financially struggling and tries to help people who suffer from violent acts, just like her. She is more fragile and emotionally vulnerable than Alice.

When Alice focuses on an outsider viewpoint to solve the mysteries, just like her favorite detective Hercule Poirot, Iris idolizes Miss Marple and her insider knowledge, prying around the townie's method to improve her approach.
This time, the girls find themselves solving an attempted murder case of their classmate Rebecca Kennedy. Her case might be related to the mysterious death of the 1940s legendary movie star Mona Moody!

At the opening, Iris and Alice attend the traditional Sally Hawkins dance at the infamous Levy Castle, where Mona Moody died by falling down the balcony. Rebecca Kennedy and Helen Park have a catfight because they both chose to wear the same gowns, and their fight is being filmed. A few hours later, Alice follows a secret passage in the castle that leads her to a room where a bloodied Kennedy lies on the carpet, suffering from a head injury and stab wound, as Helen Park holds a letter opener which may be the weapon that hurt Kennedy. Helen starts running away from Alice, repeating that she is innocent.

The entire student body finds themselves trapped in the castle as a mudslide cocoons the castle. Helen has no blood on her dress, and she’s not the kind of person who brutally assaults her best friend, even though all the evidence points at her. Iris and Alice start digging around to find two other persons Helen mentioned who may be involved in the crime. They realize Rebecca’s assault may be connected to the history of the castle and events that took place 80 years ago.

Officer Thompson sniffs around the girls to prevent them from interfering with his case, but Team Agatha has no intention of stopping, even though they put their lives in more dangerous situations than before.

Overall, I’m rooting for this series, and I have to admit I relate to Iris a little more. I enjoyed spending time in their Castle Cove universe, and I’m looking forward to reading more adventures of these genius girls!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishers for sharing this exciting book's digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

The Night in Question is the second book in the Agatha's series. Alice and Iris are back to solve another mystery. One of their classmates gets hurt at the school dance, which is the same place where in the 1940s film star Mona Moody was murdered. No one knows who murdered Mona. Alice and Iris are determined to find out what happened to their classmate and Mona.

I was a little disappointed with this book. I really enjoyed the first one and I was looking forward to reading this one. I don't think it was as good as the first one. I still enjoyed the mystery aspect of this book. I also liked how it picked up right where the last book took off. But I found myself not as invested in this story as the other one. I still would suggest this one. I did like this book. I just wish the plot was a little better. But I would suggest this one and this series.

Thank you to the authors, NetGalley, and Random House for the ARC of this book.

This was a lot of fun.

I'm really glad that The Agathas is a series. I not only love Alice and Iris, but their friends too. I was glad to see all of them back for this book.

Alice and Iris are both already interested in a murder that happened a long time ago. Actress Mona Moody had an accidental fall, but neither of them believe it. They have a dance at Levy Castle which is where Mona died. When an attempted murder happens, Park gets accused. She was in the room with the weapon. But Alice and Iris don't believe she did it. They start looking into who it could be. There are multiple secret passages in the castle and people could come and go unnoticed if they know about them. While looking into this attack, they are pushed in ways that bring them back to Mona's death. They need to solve the past case in order to understand this attack.

The pacing was great and I love that there were two mysteries this time. I hope that we'll get more books in the near future. Please make sure you know that the trigger warnings from book one should carry over to book two.

I gave this book 4 1/2 stars rounded up to 5 on Goodreads.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my earc.

Than you Netgalley, Kathleen Glasgow, Liz Lawson, and Random House for the eARC.

Another fun installment in The Agathas series. An interesting case that ties the death of an actress in the 1940s to the 2023 attack of a Castle Cove student at the Sadie Hawkins Dance. I really enjoyed the way this fleshed out some of the side characters a little more. Especially Neil. We stan Neil and his cool Archivist mother.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, or I’m hoping it will be a series, that is a follow-up to the book The Agatha‘s. Back again are Iris and April and their band of misfits who, with their inspiration from Agatha Christie, have determined that they can solve yet another crime in their hometown. As they try to solve not just a recent mystery, but also one from the past, they realize that while they need each other, they might also need some other support. Mona Moody was a Hollywood star who mysteriously fell off of a balcony despite not really having any illnesses, and when the girls start investigating a murder at the Castle where she lived, they learned that there might be more to the story that is still affecting them today. It was a great fun mystery that I thought I had figured out several times and was very wrong.

Reviewed for NetGalley:

The sequel to my new favorite detective teens story, Iris and Alice are back at it.

This time they are thrust into the bloody attempted murder and attack of of the Mains at a school dance at the local Levy mansion.

The stakes are greater with Detectice Thompson quick on their heels, while they try to uncover who attacked their classmate. But let’s throw in a mysterious old Hollywood star and her death into the mix.

Loved it, just like the first. Would love to read more from these two.

Here I am, laying in bed at 1236 am WANTING TO SCREAM HAPPY SOUNDS!

This book was extremely well done, and honestly EXACTLY what I had hoped for! This book was one of my most anticipated reads and DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

My girls are back, doing what they do best that they’ve learned from the queen of Mystery and this time- will solve two mysteries instead of just one! One tragic fall of a Hollywood starlet, and the incident of a fellow classmate, who’s not exactly everyone’s cup of tea.

I loved the well placed humor and life given from the side characters as much as our main ladies! So much chaos, and a smile plastered to my face almost the entire time! I truly felt so much closer to our teenage detectives, and hope this isn’t the end?

I very much enjoyed The Night in Question. It's the story of two teenagers, Alice Ogilvie and Iris Adams, who spend their time, when they're not in school, solving crimes. The main crime they're attempting to solve is the attempted murder of Rebecca Kennedy. It happened at Levy Castle during a Sadie Hawkins dance. She was hit over the head with a candelabra and stabbed with a letter opener. She'd been in an argument earlier in the evening with Helen Park. At some point Alice went upstairs to the study and found Helen standing over Rebecca holding the letter opener. Helen was arrested.

Alex Schafer's father owned motel, The Wave. Rebecca's father wanted to buy The Wave to build luxury condos, but Alex's father didn't want to sell. Alex had issue with Rebecca because of her father and ultimately was arrested for attempted murder as well.

Alice and Iris were sure that Helen was innocent and they set out to prove it. They also knew that Alex was guilty and that he had an accomplice.

The other crime they wanted to solve was the death of movie star Mona Moody. To do that they went to Los Angeles to interview Dr. Eugene Kennedy who was Mona's doctor. It was alleged that she fell out of a window and that her lover, Clifford Hayes/Reginald Kennedy was drowned. Clifford was the doctor's brother.

When Alice and Iris got back from LA, Iris went to the hospital to visit Rebecca. She'd been told that Rebecca was coming out of her coma. When she got there, another teen was there trying to smother Rebecca. Iris stopped her and the teen fled. Alice has just arrived at the hospital and saw the teen getting away, so she followed the person to the dock. Alice tried to stop this person but they escaped on a boat. Alice followed in another boat but was too late. The teen boarded a yacht.

As much as I'd like to blab all of the details and the ending, I can't. I don't want to spoil it. But it is well worth the read. There was never a dull moment. It held my attention the entire time. The characters were well defined and I had no problem keeping up with the storyline. I gave it five stars.

"The Night in Question" is an absolutely amazing follow up to "The Agathas". When a classmate is attacked at historic Levy Castle, Alice Ogilvie and Iris Adams jump into detective mode. They discover connections between the attack and an accident that took place at Levy Castle in 1949, and work tenaciously to solve past and current mysteries, Glasgow and Lawson continue to develop each character. The pace is perfect, and the periodic changes in format to text exchanges or transcripts of interviews will keep the reader riveted. Additionally, the short chapters will keep reluctant readers engaged. "The Night in Question" would appeal to fans of "Pretty Dead Queens" by Alexa Donne. If this book doesn't end up on a rewards list, I'll be very surprised.

I absolutely adore this series!! This second one combining two different mysteries throughout the decades was amazing! I already need the third one! This series is great for readers of all ages.

The Agathas absolutely enthralled me when I first read it last year. I was SO happy to get the sequel. It is so fun to read a book that takes place in a fictional town right up the coast from where you live. The Night in Question is an amazing follow-up to the first book. There is nothing I love more than girls solving mysteries. It is in my blood at this point. I was gripped by this story and I couldn't put it down! I am predicting it now: THIS is the book of the summer!! Get on the hype train everyone!!

First of all, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy of The Night in Question. I thoroughly enjoyed The Agathas and was not expecting a sequel. The Agathas also has a fairly decent readership in my library, so I'm sure this sequel will be well-received. However, I definitely could have used a tiny recap or a diagram of the cast of characters and their relationships to each other from the first book. I had forgotten about some characters completely and had to ask one of my Agathas fans to help refresh my memory when I was in the first chapter. I do appreciate, though, that there is some room for a sequel, even though one wonders how many murders a sleepy seaside town can have in one year.

As far as being critical, I would have liked a bit more resolution around the Iris and Cole relationship. I also could guess a huge chunk of Mona Moody's story, though I think that's due to my age. I'm curious to see what a teen reader thinks.

Alice & Iris are back with another mystery!

YA Mystery is one of my favorite genres, and I loved the first Agatha’s novel! In this sequel, Alice and Iris find themselves at the center of another mystery when their classmate is stabbed at Levy Castle during their school dance. At first the culprit seems obvious, but as the girls begin to dive in, more twists and secrets are uncovered, including ties to a decades old death of a film star, which also occurred at Levy Castle.

As with the first one, Alice’s and Iris’s friendship is so sweet and I adored both of them so much. This was a great sequel that has an intriguing mystery and delves more into the characters, with a focus on Iris and Alice's friendship.

This book was full of Agatha Christie references, most of which I honestly probably didn’t even catch, but they were more obvious here! Readers of Holly Jackson, Karen McManus, and Maureen Johnson will absolutely enjoy this one.

Thank you Delacorte Press and Netgalley for this eARC, these opinions are my own. I loved this thrilling and unputdownable mystery! Iris and Alice are back for an even more twisted and complicated adventure. The night of the Sadie Hawkins dance someone is attacked and Alice happened to walk in on someone else standing over the body. The police see this as an open and shut case. Iris and Alice believe otherwise and they’ll set out to once again prove someone else’s innocence. But with ties to the past this case may just be beyond them. Can they solve it? Can they keep themselves safe in the process? I love the dynamic between Alice and Iris, they have such different backgrounds and personality but they mesh so well together! I love the way their brains work, how they piece together clues, and how so much of what they know ties back to Agatha Christie novels! Add in their humor, charm, and general badassedness and it makes the perfect mystery! I hope there is more to come from Alice and Iris, can’t wait for this one to come out!

I love that this is a series! Alice and Iris are such a fun team and the supporting cast is great. I love the Christie references throughout the book.

Reads more like nancy drew than agatha christie (I loved nancy drew, but I'm not six years old anymore...) with a paper thin plot, weak characters who have no discernible or coherent motivation, and really questionable suspense (again, prolly just right for the ages 6-10 audience).
