The Dance Deception is a (very) spicy enermies to fake dating lovers. This book follows Kate as she enters a dancing tv reality competition (much like strictly) for normal people. She is partnered up with the irresistible Merle and things get hot very fast - until it all comes crashing down.
I was wondering at the start where the fake daying comes in as things with Merle were very much not fake dating, but I do like where it went! I found this book quite fast paced and easy to read. The spice was quite spicy, and there was plenty of it throughout the book!
I feel like it wrapped up a little too fast, especially with the ‘twist’ at the end, but it was a fun fast paced spicy book, and so I am giving The Dance Deception 3.5 stars.
So much potential but I just couldn't get into it!
I DNF'd at 21% so definitely wasn't a book for me.
A light, amusing summer read about a young woman, Kate, who is persuaded to enter a reality television dance competition. She is not a brilliant dancer. Her professional dance partner is determined to win, and is prepared to go to any lengths to make that happen. His method of making her relax is seen by another contestant, who films them and sells the photos on for a lot of money. The ensuing scandal gives the programme a great deal of publicity, so the producers turn a blind eye and ensure that both of them remain in the show. But they both have to partner other people, which causes even more complications.
For me there is too much gratuitous sex, it serves very little purpose. But it is a pleasant enough story with a good ending.
This is a cute romance set on a dancing based reality show. It was a quick read but didn’t make much of an impression on me, 3 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
a most enjoyable book to read plenty of lessons on dance movements and more besides telling a story of a dance competition were they start out as not being able to dance but get to the finishing line at full speed and dance to perfection not giving too much away as it is a joy to read
Thank you for my eARC of this book. I really liked the premise of this one and did find it enjoyable but it hasn’t left much of an impression on me and I felt a little frustrated with it at times.
fantastic book ! really really enjoyed this. great characters great story and beautifully written
look forward to more from this author
Stricly Come Dancing meets sexual chemistry galore, but with mere mortals instead of celebrities.
That's the premise of the new reality talent show that Kate has been co-erced into signing up for.
Although her first sessions with hot dancer Merle, certainly cheer her up.
Until some pictures are leaked and she discovered what a twat Merle really is.
Made to swap partners this turns into a fake dating story and one that I loved.
I adored getting to know her new dance professional and seeing how their relationship kept on changing
And Kate's family and friends are fabulous too.
I loved the very many steamy sex scenes involving Kate, and frankly at times wish I could have swapped places with her!
This is the first book I have read by Becky Ward and it won't be my last. i thoroughly enjoyed this story.
Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Kate gets persuaded to apply to join Fire on the Dance Floor, she’s not expecting too much. Then she gets partnered with the handsome Merle and her expectations and her desires change dramatically. But then scandal hits and everything becomes more difficult. Can she overcome her problems and succeed in the competition?
The Dance Deception is an entertaining read, with the usual romance spiced up with a little Strictly fever! I’m not sure whether big audiences would be interested in a non-celebrity version, but it made for an exciting story. The action builds up nicely to the finale and all the loose ends neatly tied up.
Easy book to lose yourself in for a few hours.
This was a dnf for me. I can‘t really put into words what I‘m thinking but there were so many other lower reviews which captured it exactly.
A little fun thing is that one character shares the same name as me, since that never happens in books, I loved that. But that‘s about it.
A lighthearted quick read based around a reality TV show like strictly. Enjoyable book. Hot and steamy in places but you can skim over these if you wish.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion
A steamy version of strictly. Ideal if you like a bit of steam . Kate is in the dance competition and detirmined to win but it’ll require focus and practice.
If you like fun lighthearted reads which are perfect for getting lost in for an afternoon then The Dance Deception is what you should read next. It's great for fans of shows like strictly. Likeable characters, an engaging plot, all help make it a lovely read.
I'm sorry, but no. This is just a whole lot of no from me. Extra star for writing because that was good, but content was a hard pass.
Could not finish, The dialogue felt very artificial and I could not connect with the characters. 2 stars for the premise; it had promise, but was not well delivered.
Unfortunately, I did not finish this book as I found it hard to sympathise and relate to the main character.
This was the first book I tried by Becky Ward; the writing style wasn’t a great fit for me and the characters and plot didn’t grab me, so I ended up not finishing the book. Thank you to Avon Books UK and Net Galley for the advance copy.
Kate finds herself in a dancing competition similar to Strictly Come Dancing or Dancing with the Stars, partnering with Merle, a charismatic French dancer whose unconventional methods spark scandal. Forced to switch partners to save her reputation, Kate pairs with Aleksis, an equally attractive but initially frosty dancer. Despite their rocky start, they navigate a fake dating scenario to boost publicity, but the path to success and love proves far from straightforward.
This enchanting romance novel immerses readers in the glamorous world of dance competitions, where passion, drama, and unexpected love unfold. The heartwarming romance is punctuated by tender moments that will leave readers swooning. The author skillfully builds tension and chemistry between Kate and Aleksis, enhancing the allure of their evolving relationship.
I received this book complimentary from NetGalley, but all opinions are my own.
Kate is surprised but happy when she scores a spot in a televised dancing competition. She is initially paired with Merle, but she must work with Aleksis after a scandal. Real feelings develop as they work past their differences, but can they work that out, too? It's a fun behind-the-scenes tale of a dance reality show competition.
