This book really dragged for me from the very start. I almost DNF'd this book but kept going hoping our main character Pippa would become a stronger character. It was just ok, I didn't love or hate this book, I just feel like it needed something more, a bigger build up or a larger resolved conflict.

Thank you for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

This was a very enjoyable romance to read.

It’s a very quick and easy read, the writing flows. The grump-sunshine dynamic was done brilliantly and I loved every moment of it.

There were also a few comedic moments and plenty of witty dialogue which I loved. I’ll definitely be recommending my shop adds this to the shelves.

Elizabeth Drummond’s The House Sitter is a delightful blend of humor, romance, and charming characters.

The story follows Pippa, a young woman who takes on a house-sitting job at the imposing Squires Manor, only to find herself sharing the space with its enigmatic owner, Wolfie.

Drummond's writing style is light and breezy, making the novel a quick and enjoyable read. The author skillfully balances the development of the romantic tension between Pippa and Wolfie with the charming eccentricities of the small town setting. The grumpy-sunshine dynamic between the two main characters is both entertaining and endearing.

While the plot follows a familiar romantic comedy formula, Drummond adds her own unique touch with well-developed characters and witty dialogue. The supporting cast, including Pippa's loyal friends and the quirky villagers, adds depth and humor to the story.

Overall, The House Sitter is a heartwarming and feel-good read that will leave readers smiling. It’s a perfect escape for anyone looking for a light and enjoyable romance novel.

I loved this so much! It was charming, beautiful and emotional. A five star read that I would highly recommend

This book was a hot mess of miscommunication galore and characters that half the time I just wanted to slap the crap out of them half the time. So ya this one was not good and I don't even know who I would recommend this to. Because the story was just not enough to fix the characters.

Once I got past the rather boring first chapters and the 'titular' housesitting job began, I rooted for Pippa. She's a strong female character, who's had a bad breakup and needs to find her feet. Her strength and determination keep her going, once she's picked herself up, and she won't be fooled again so easily. Can Pippa convince Wolfie about the beauty of his home and hometown and keep him from selling the house she's sitting?

There were wonderful secondary characters too and I wouldn't mind revisiting this small Yorkshire town to find out how Mae and Erin are doing. And I need to know whether Juniper finds the perfect mate.

i wanted to like this book. however, i couldn't get into it as much as i wanted to.
It started out slow-paced, but there was some interest to the characters, but i didn't like the main female character (her appearance made my eye twitch) & i generally don't enjoy books that have an ex-boyfriend involved in such a heavy aspect. i didn't see any chemistry between her and the main male character, and i was also just confused the entire time reading. there was a lot of miscommunication and slow, LONG scenes, and the overall execution and writing styles was not to the standard i look for.

Unfortunately, this book was not it for me. I found the synopsis intriguing but the story just fell short. There was no chemistry between Pippa and Wolfie. The writing included too many unnecessary details that caused me to lose interest while reading.

Thank you for my earc of this book. Unfortunately i didn’t finish this. It just felt like telling instead of showing with the romance and I couldn’t get into it

I wish this book and both sides of the story not just hers. Because you don't really see her liking him besides the fact she says he's hot. But it seems like he liked her since day one

Pippa has been running a farm with her boyfriend, Alex, and helped him turn it into a successful family business. They have been together for a long time, and she expects to get a proposal any day now. Only a proposal is the last thing on Alex's mind when he informs her that he is selling the farm and he breaks up with her. Pippa not only loses her boyfriend, but also her job and her home. She now needs to build her life up from scratch again. Wolfie is a big city hotshot and needs someone to take care of his family's country manor and Pippa takes the job. But her job is only temporary, as Wolfie plans to sell the house, which Pippa absolutely does not agree with and as a result, the two inevitably clash, only for them to end up growing closer to each other.
The story had a grumpy/sunshine trope, which is one of my favorites. It was an easy, light-hearted, quick read and I enjoyed the small-town vibe. The story was entertaining and kept me engaged all the way through. A nice, cozy read that will leave you with a warm feeling at the end.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I couldn’t get into the story just as I thought. Not disappointed but need more depth, I think. I can't remember when was the last time when I read a book in which the whole plot was 100% equal to what was written in the blurb and nothing more. There was no surprise there, no resolution to any of the plot threads and the whole story was blatantly predictable and painfully dull.

This was a great easy read with some lovely complex characters. It would translate well into a film. Get this into your suitcase for a perfect holiday book. Now waiting for the 3rd book!

I really enjoyed this book. The setup seemed a little far fetched at first, but the characters are interesting and believable.
The book is about judging people rather than getting to know them, and falling into patterns of behaviour. Once you step back from your own prejudice, things might look very different.
There is quite a bit of jeopardy right up to the end.

"The House Sitter" by Elizabeth Drummond was a delightful enemies-to-lovers romance set in the charming countryside of Yorkshire. The story follows Pippa Munro, who finds herself jobless, homeless, and loveless after her boyfriend betrays her and sells her beloved farm. In a twist of fate, she becomes a house sitter at Squires Manor, owned by the grumpy and complicated Wolfie Squires.
The dynamic between Pippa and Wolfie is the heart of the story, and I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve from animosity to a sweet and passionate romance. Pippa's determination to uncover Wolfie's secrets and the way their connection grows as they work together to restore the neglected estate added depth to the narrative.
While I found the supporting characters, such as Pippa's friends and family, to be endearing and enjoyable, I had some difficulty connecting with Pippa as a protagonist. The timeline of her previous relationship and the speed at which she moved on from it felt a bit unrealistic and made it challenging for me to empathise with her character fully.
Wolfie's immature moments and clichés could be frustrating, but the banter, pacing, and humour kept me engaged. The light-hearted tone was appreciated.
Overall, "The House Sitter" is a charming and engaging romance novel that offers a mix of humour, adventure, and love in the picturesque backdrop of the Yorkshire countryside. While some aspects didn't fully resonate with me, I still found the story enjoyable and entertaining, and I would recommend it to readers looking for a fun and heartwarming romance with a touch of sass and sweetness.

With a crumbling mansion for a backdrop, this was a charming grumpy/sunshine romance, set against the rolling hills of a small rural town. It is an enemies to lovers tale, leaving the reader rooting for the unlikely pair. It is a delightful and captivating tale.
Many thanks to HarperCollins UK and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
