I really wanted to love this one despite what all the reviews said. I admit it was a cute story but I too struggled to get into it. I didn't feel the chemistry between our characters and unfortunately I ended up having to skim the remainder of the book to finish it up.
I just….. meh. I didn’t like the writing style at all. I absolutely could not get into this book. I don’t know what it was but it just wasn’t good.
Pippa Munro's life takes a drastic turn when her boyfriend sells their farm and leaves her jobless and homeless. Desperate, she becomes a house sitter for Wolfie Squires, the owner of the local manor house. While their initial interactions are filled with clashes, they discover unexpected similarities, leading to an opposites-attract romance. Although I enjoyed Wolfie's character and his dynamic with Pippa, the lack of significant growth in Pippa's character disappointed me. The story was okay, but Pippa's frustrating traits and the underdeveloped chemistry between the main characters left me wanting more.

I dove into 'The House Sitter' with high hopes given the intriguing blurb. However, the plot didn't quite click for me. The miscommunication between the main characters felt overwhelming, and unfortunately, I couldn't warm up to their immature personalities. The FMC's failure to establish crucial boundaries with her ex grated on me, making her character more annoying than endearing. Despite taking some time to get into the story, it wasn't a bad read, but I struggled to connect with the characters, impacting my overall investment in the storyline.

I was excited to read this book as the blurb seemed interesting, however I felt like the plot was not clicking
The miscommunication between the main characters is simply too much.
I also did not like their personalities either, as they were immature and the FMC failed to set much needed boundaries with her ex. She was actually very annoying, while the MMC was slightly more bearable.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC
I enjoyed this book so much, I read it in a day. I loved Pippa!
Pippa's long term relationship comes to an end when her partner Alex decides to sell the farm & move away to Kent without discussing anything with her. He just expected her to move with him but that was not in Pippa's plans.
She is now homeless & applies for a job as a house sitter in the grand house called The Squires. She changes, her life changes & it's so good!.
Highly recommend read!
Pippa Munro is waiting for her boyfriend, Alex, to see her claim her prize in a contest, however, he has let her down once again when he doesn’t show.
13 Years Later
Pippa works hard to help Alex run his family farm. She is busy with all the aspects and loves the farm. In addition, she helps care for Alex’s crabby father. She is hoping that Alex will finally propose to her. But he arrives home to say he has sold the farm and he breaks up with her. Now, she has no home and no job.
When Pippa learns that there is a job as a house sitter for the Squires House, she is intrigued. It is owned by Wolfie Squires whom she has known since she was a child. They have only met once or twice. Wolfie is a handsome but somewhat aloof man who travels a lot and is actually looking to sell the beautiful home. Pippa gets the job and spends her days polishing the elaborate furniture and paintings that are then covered by dust covers. Wolfie only stays there every so often.
When potential buyers want to tear down the place and build a tacky, cheap hotel or burger restaurant, Pippa is appalled and does what she can to thwart any sales. While helping to plan a fund-raising fete for the town, Pippa and Wolfie one day look at each other and really see themselves. Hmmm…where could this lead?
Wolfie is a good man who has a damaged past. Pippa is a strong woman who is capable of accomplishing a lot. There’s a lot of humor here and I really liked the character of Todd, the next door neighbor. A little long, but still a satisfying book. Enjoy.

Thought I'd like this one but unfortunately not for me. From the start I just wasn't invested in the characters and it didn't get better over time.
Elizabeth Drummond’s The House Sitter is a hilarious grumpy/sunshine romantic comedy that is simply delicious.
Pippa Munro has her life mapped out. With a gorgeous boyfriend, a great job and the house of dreams, Pippa has got it all – until the rug is well and truly pulled out from under her feet. In one fell swoop, her boyfriend dumps her and sells her beautiful home and leaves her jobless, homeless and single. What on earth is she going to do next? Luckily for her, help is at hand from a most unlikely source…
Wolfie Squires is desperate. He needs somebody to look after his family’s ancient house and he is simply too busy with his high-flying city job to deal with a country manor in the middle of nowhere. Pippa was meant to be the answer to all of his problems – until he realises that he cannot be in the same room as her for more than five minutes because the two clash and butt heads the second they clap eyes on one another.
However, they quickly realise that they might have more in common than they initially thought…
Zara Stoneley and Emily Henry fans will love Elizabeth Drummond’s The House Sitter. A gorgeously escapist and brilliantly romantic page-turner about two polar opposites who find themselves falling head over heels in love, The House Sitter sparkles with side-splitting zingers, witty repartee, laugh out loud mischief and sexy shenanigans to keep readers riveted from start to finish.
Romantic comedy fans will definitely not want to miss Elizabeth Drummond’s fabulous new novel, The House Sitter.
When Pippa Munro’s life falls apart, she gets a job as house sitter at Squires House in Hurst Bridge. Pippa’s job is to live in the house for a few months and perform cleaning tasks and regular furniture polishing. Ever since she was a young girl Pippa has loved Squires House and can’t believe her luck in being chosen to look after the house.
Set in a small town of Hurst Bridge in Yorkshire, mostly in the present time.
This was romance about families and friendships with lots of humorous incidents. I especially liked the antics of Juniper, the pig next door.

This book took me a little bit of time to get into to be honest. Overall, it wasn’t a bad read, I just didn’t connect well to the characters so I didn’t find myself as invested in the storyline.
Pippa Munro has grown up in a small Yorkshire village with the expectation of marrying her long term boyfriend with whom she has built a successful farm business. When, instead of proposing, Alex drops a bombshell, Pippa is left homeless, jobless and loveless. She moves into the local manor house as house sitter and comes up against the formidable Wolfie Squires who she hasn't seen since they were teenagers. Pippa and Wolfie have different views of and ideas for the house and while much is predictable it is still a thoroughly enjoyable read. Friendship, family, romance and misunderstanding. What more could you want? #netgalley #TheHouseSitter
Pippa drove me crazy! I wanted to come in and give her a shake! Apart from that it was ar easy
Rom com read. Thank you
Love a FMC who learns to defend herself, Pippa was a great character that showed growth from the beginning to end. Wolfie’s name suited him and his grumpiness.
Pippa’s life is turned upside down when her boyfriend dumps her and sells her farm, finding herself in a desperate position she must take the job as a house sitter for Wolfie squires.
But while the two may clash at first it won’t be long before they have a lot more in common.
Drummond writes us characters whom we know to dislike from the start, as well as which characters to root for.
I loved Wolfie’s character and the interaction he has with Pippa, there were several scenes I found myself grinning at.
However, I did find Pippa didn’t have as much growth as I wanted her to in the novel. But I still liked her as a character.
This was an enjoyable read.
Unfortunately I just couldn't get into this one, I did get to nearly half way before i decided It wasn't for me, I didn't take to the main female character at all, I found her to be very frustrating and i so wish she had a bit more of a back bone
In saying this i will admit that the writing is very good and it wouldn't put me off reading more from this author.
It’s got all the good tropes so you already know it’s going to be good. Its a grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, small town romance that hits all the right spots. It could do with a bit more spice but sometimes a slow romance gets you there as well.
A lighthearted and fun rom-com. I spent a Saturday and a Sunday morning reading this book and found it to be a funny and charming story.
From the beginning, I despised Alex and his father, so I was delighted when Pippa finally went her separate way. After wallowing in self-pity for a time at her cousin's place she lands on her feet with a house-sitting job at a lovely big mansion.
My favourite parts of the book are the scenes where potential buyers view the mansion and Pippa finds ways of sabotaging the potential sale. Todd, the next-door neighbour is a hoot, especially when he and his pig get involved in Pippa's scheme.
Wolfie is a sullen character but it is clear he has taken a shine to Pippa but he's not very good at flirting. Fortunately, his actions speak louder than words and there are a few very sweet and swoon-worthy scenes. I would have liked him to have a bit more self-confidence and not go off in a huff every time he sees Pippa interacting with Alex. Thankfully, Pippa doesn't give up on him.
I laughed out loud at Pippa and Wolfie's madcap last-minute dash to prevent a courier from delivering the paperwork for the sale of the mansion. It was such a lovely and humorous moment near the end of the book.
This was a lovely book and made the perfect weekend reading at the end of a busy and stressful week.
I loved this heartfelt story about knowing your worth and finding your person who values you....and with them finding the place you can call "home." Add in a very atmospheric small town sitting and big epic moments that drive the plot both which makes this story one that you have a hard time putting aside. Wolfie and Pippa had such outstanding chemistry. This second novel by Elizabeth Drummond is worth the read!

Pippa Munro’s life is turned on it’s head when her long time boyfriend and business partner decides to sell their farm, and Pippa’s home, out of the blue. Pippa is left heartbroken, single, jobless, and homeless. After some wallowing, Pippa takes a job as a house sitter at Squires, the local manor house that has fallen from its former glory. Hot but grumpy Wolfie Squires, now the man of the house, needs someone to look after the old house whenever he’s away. Pippa and Wolfie bump heads in this opposites attract romance, but come to find out that they have more in common than they once assumed.
Ughhh this book was so aggressively…ok. Pippa was so frustrating from the very beginning and barely even grew any backbone by the end of the story. The plot was just not interesting at all and the writing was way too detailed to keep me properly engaged. And there was absolutely NO chemistry between Pippa and Wolfie. They had maybe like 5 interactions before they were sleeping together, and then a couple days later they were in love? K bye, no.
