Eva Mallory has the worst luck ever as a matter of a fact she’s cursed. When her father first came to America he wanted to change his name to sound more American than when he saw a sign for Malory Street he thought he hit pay dirt. Little did he know that meant bad luck and bad luck is what he had three weeks later when he drop dead and what his family would have for many decades to come. When we meet Eva she just burned down a Victorian manor where her and her family were having a get together it is when they’re outside discussing her bad luck that her sister who’s been married a year says oh yes “I forgot about the curse!“ then her mother reveals she hasn’t been bothered by the curse since marrying her new husband. This is when Eva decides she must get married! Her twin Hannah her two elderly aunt and her mom are happy to oblige and set her up on blind dates and search for Mr. Wright. Her first blind date seems to be where she meets him but unfortunately he isn’t her date. She will see him again however but first she has her list. It seems something always gets in the way of either and Luke getting together with the book is hilarious in one of the best romcoms I have read this year. I love this authors books and this one was hilarious a definite five star read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it I want to thank NetGalley and Harper Collins UK in first chapter please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
If you like silly and sweet, then this book is for you!
Eva Mallory is convinced that her accident proneness is due to the family curse. Her solution: get married and change her last name! A bit ridiculous, right? Well, from there, her family attempts to help her find the best kind of husband by setting her up on numerous blind dates.
Inject quirky characters, several very spicy interactions, and lots of funny moments. You have yourself a perfect recipe for a cute romcom! It was such a fun read!
Thank you HaperCollins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for the ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed every page of this book. It had me laughing out loud in places. A great summer read. Would definitely recommend this book
3 1/2 elevated to 4.
This is like a comedy of errors with a lot of cringe moments for poor Eva, along with poignant moments between her and her family, and between her and Luke.
Eva is convinced she must marry in order to break the extreme-bad luck in her life, and embarks on a husband hunt with the help of her family. Obviously, things do not go well.
When she and Luke meet and have an instant connection, looks like her luck is about to change.
I love the Polish culture, the aunts and everything they bring to the story.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Thanks netgalley & publisher for an advanced copy of this book. When I started this book I wasn't completely convinced I was going to get into it, but I was so wrong. It's funny, quirky and definitely worth reading.

Eva Mallory’s Husband Hunt
Author: Katherine Dyson

Eva Mallory’s Husband Hunt by Katherine Dyson is a hoot and a half. It would be safe to say that if Eva didn’t have bad luck, she would have no luck at all…at least, that is what she believes. Her family operates life under the burden of an old family curse, and Eva is convinced that the only way to break the curse of bad luck is to marry, thus getting a new last name. Her sisters were proof that marriages changed the course of their lives. Just one hitch…the guy Eva is over the top in lust and love with has a last name of…Mallory. They share the same last names but what are the odds and they aren’t even genetically related? The two Mallory love birds break up, make up, and break many things in between. Will they stay the course and have a happy future? You’ll have to read the book to find out. #love #romcom #lust #familycurse #accidentprone #riskadverse #lucky #unlucky #EvaMalloryshusbandhunt @_katherinedyson @netgalley @harpercollinsuk #lighthearted #sweet

Eva Mallory's Husband Hunt is a silly and swoony romance about a woman cursed with bad luck who believes she can only lift the curse by getting married. She recruits her family to find potential husbands, but none of their picks can compare to the hunky new colleague who definitely isn't a candidate.
The book was definitely on the silly side for my taste. The main character genuinely believes she is cursed, even though most of her bad luck is just carelessness and clumsiness and, with her loving family and rewarding job, she's actually quite fortunate. I got frustrated at times, watching her blame her own carelessness on a curse. But when the story moved away from the bad luck and toward the budding romance between Eva and her colleague Luke, it really drew me in. Their connection felt both steamy and genuine, and I was rooting for them even when I was annoyed with the main character.
My favorite thing about this novel was actually the secondary characters and their milieus. Where many romance novels take place primarily in the heroine's apartment (often with a roommate/best friend sidekick) and a succession of bars, Eva Mallory's Husband Hunt mostly takes place in the school where Eva works and in her mother's home. Her colleagues and family members are well-developed, diverse, and funny, and I felt like the novel had a different feel and sense of place than most romances. In fact, I was almost more interested in some of their side plots than I was in Eva's story!
3.5 stars, rounded up. I would have liked this better if it had leaned less heavily on the curse conceit.
I love this for the clumsiness of Eva alone. Poor girl.
Lots of fun, a tad far fetched but I was happy to roll with it, and was entertained.
Some amusing characters to accompany Eva and her dates.
A nice easy read, with a few giggles to be had along the way,
This is such a fun and quirky story! I really enjoyed every minute of ot and felt it gave me everything I expect from a romance story. The banter and chemistry between the two main characters was pure perfection!
Highly recommend!!
Where do I start with this story? I wasn’t sure to start with because I didn’t know the direction the story was going in.
Now I can say that I loved this tale! Eva is accident prone and decides it has to be because of her surname - Mallory. How to get rid of the Mallory curse? Get married!
The whole family make a list of “husband material” and so Eva starts to go on dates. In the restaurant, she meets Luke and there is an instant attraction and spark.
She meets him again, when he starts working in the school she works in. And things start to go downhill, rapidly.
I loved Eva’s family, they are quirky and so much fun. I found myself laughing a lot through this book but I also felt Eva’s pain on certain things.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m hoping to read more. I enjoyed her writing style and found this to be an easy but entertaining read.
My thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins U.K. & One More Chapter for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Eva suffers from constant bad luck, which she blames on a family curse. She decides that this is due to the family name, Mallory which means "bad luck", so is determined to find a husband to take on his surname. She is helped by her elderly Polish aunts who help arrange blind dates for her, however these don't always go well. She bumps into someone who she is immediately attracted to, however there is a major problem.....
To be honest there was a point near the start of the book which I didn't like as it was going in an extremely spicy direction, so I changed to read another book instead. I don't like not finishing a book so went back to this one only to find that I was wrong and the mood was more typical romcom. There are spicy moments later in the book, but fit in well with the story. There are some lovely moments when she makes new friends, plus some funny ones as her bad luck strikes yet again and the overall feeling of the book is very positive. Definitely worth a read.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influenced my review of the book.
This was such a swoony and quirky read!
Eva believes that her luck (or the lack of) is due to the family surname curse & she must get married to get rid of it. And guess what? The ONE, who enters her world, and makes her forget about everything else also happens to have the same surname as her!!!!
Eva & Luke's banter was amazing. It was legit funny and hot. So so hot. The chemistry was so good that it vibrated off the pages.
I loved how the story was more focused on Eva's journey throughout.
<i>Thank you netgalley and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.<i>
Eva Mallory is one unlucky woman. She believes her surname is cursed and is desperate to find a husband so she can rid herself of her family curse. She ropes in all her family, and her zany Polish great aunts, Irenka and Nelka, to set her up on blind dates in search of a husband. But along the way she meets Luke - sexy, hot, Luke. Sparks fly between them and their attraction is instant. What will she do when she realises that Luke’s surname is also Mallory? And how can they curb their attraction when they are forced to spend more time together at work?
Where on earth has this book been all of my life? And why have I never heard of the talented Katherine Dyson until now? Eva Mallory’s Husband Hunt contains everything you could want in a novel: an incredible romance; a hot love interest; lots of sexy and passionate scenes (specifically in locked cupboards); likeable great aunts; and a narrative that is warm, funny and well-written in equal measure. It’s really one feat when you create a world where a reader struggles to put the book down, but also another one when you’re thinking about said book and the awesome chemistry between Eva and Luke when you’re at work or going about your daily life. The romantic and passionate scenes are some of the best I have ever read as they are poetic and beautiful. For me, I can’t gush about this book enough. One of my favourite books of this year so far.
It was cute and funny but a bit too over the top silly at times. I didn't really connect with any of the characters either so for me this was just alright.
Where to even start with this one...
Eva Mallory is cursed, or at least she thinks she is. Her last name means unlucky, and she doesn't have the best of luck. From this, as readers we are meant to believe that she is cursed to be forever unlucky, unless she changes her name. But no, she can't simply change her name by deed poll, because apparently the one time she tried that her father dropped dead and she believes it is entirely her fault.... ridiculous. Therefore, Eva decides that she needs to get married in order to fix her curse. And thus begins one of the most silly (and honestly quite frustrating) reads of the year so far.
Eva and I are the same age, but I struggle to relate to her behaviour in any way. She is more like the five-year-olds that she teaches than an adult. She is self-centred, overly fanciful, and illogical. Sure, it is important for characters to have flaws. But Eva Mallory seems to only have flaws.
As someone who loves romantic comedy fiction, I am used to silly, sweet, and unrealistic stories. But this one is just too much. I found myself frustrated with this book from start to finish (and I nearly gave up on it multiple times). It is just not at all my style, largely because I found it hard to connect with the main character.
A wonderful, light hearted story I thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed out loud at all Eva’s antics. Eva feels she is the most unluckiest women in the world and that her surname is cursed. Therefore if she changed it by getting married life would improve. Eva and her family set out to get her a husband, but unfortunately things do not always go to plan.
Such a quirky and fun read with massive amounts of chemistry and a good dose of spice. Eva is plagued by her family curse and is incredibly unlucky. If something bad is happening, it’s likely happening to her. It did make me a bit edgy waiting for the next disaster to befall her and I felt like I was holding my breath with the foreboding air in some of the scenes, trying to work out what kind of trouble her spate of bad luck could cause. Was it a little bit mad how much Eva invested in this curse? Probably. That being said, it was still enjoyable for its unusualness and definitely introduced a creative way for her and Luke to be star-crossed lovers. It was interesting to see their relationship develop over several months, through all its ups and downs and, of course, sexual tension. One of my favourite things though, had to be Orson’s character. He was an absolute joy and such a sweetheart. Iykyk. There’s such a strong sense of family in this book and it was like a warm hug alongside all the other mischief and romance taking place and I very much enjoyed reading it.
I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.
This romantic fiction is based around a belief that the title character Eva Mallory is cursed by the burden of her surname - which in itself means ‘unlucky’. We are introduced to the book with a scene where the unlucky curse is further detailed as a family curse, but Eva’s other female family members were ‘lifted’ of the curse as a consequence of changing their surname by marriage. Eva remains the only ‘Mallory’ remaining in her family and therefore decides she must quickly find a husband so that she can change her surname and shake the unlucky curse for good.
Almost immediately, Eva is fortunate to meet a man with whom she shares warmth, chemistry and much in common - however there are complications and worries regarding her past that leads to her attempts at sabotaging this natural relationship, embarking upon a string of disastrous dates instead.
Throughout the book, the reader experiences the funny and warming dynamics of Eva and her Polish family background, the funny stories around her disastrous dates, the loyal friendships within Eva’s workplace and the slow burning relationship with a man who is almost her perfect husband.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable romantic fiction which made me smile, laugh loudly, and cry joyful tears. Eva and her worries around her future/past regrets felt relatable, yet the character development through the book was heartwarming and inspiring. I completed the book comfortably within 24 hours, and feel that the ending tied up the ongoing plot well without leaving any unmentioned hopes or expectations for the main characters. I look forward to reading further titles by this author.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Harper Collins Uk, One More Chapter for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

If you are looking for a quick and charming rom-com to read pool side this summer, Eva Mallory’s Husband Hunt is a perfect fit.
Eva Mallory is cursed with bad luck due to her last name, in fact all the females in her family are cursed. Until they marry and change their name that is. The only way for Eva to change her luck is to marry as quickly as possible. What ensues will be a string of bad luck and even worse dates. That is until she meets a man who might be able to break the curse, except for one small unlucky issue.
While I thought this book was cute and I liked this plot, I just didn’t really connect with the characters. The love felt very instalove and I really felt no connection between the characters.
I really enjoyed this book. It had me hooked from the beginning. The Mallory curse was an intriguing and added a light hearted touch to the story. It made me laugh out loud at times and it was also heratwarming. A truly lovely read.
