When I read the email from Chloe, I had to look closely, is this really a volume in the Romantic Escapes series? The front cover is so different from the previous 9 volumes.
As should be obvious, it is set in a castle in France, in the Champagne region.
This book stars Hattie, who we already know from the book about Ireland. But Fliss also comes along in this book, she starred in the same book.
Hattie has been asked by her uncle to act as a wedding planner to arrange the wedding of his daughter, her niece Gabby, at the castle. Luc, who has recently moved into his father's castle was unaware of this but is quickly content to do so, anything that can make the castle money is fine by him as he would like to make champagne again like his great-aunt once did.
The housekeeper trains things, but this is for another reason. Her daughter is also getting married and would like to do so in the chateau's vineyard, but two weddings at once is that possible? Hattie works a lot with Luc and they start a holiday fling. They visit local markets and also go on trips together. During a trip of them together to Paris, Nina from the little patisserie in Paris also drops by, very nice to give older protagonists a role in the book in this way.
After Fliss arrives at the chateau to help with the cooking, the dynamics between the residents change again. All sorts of delicious things happen again, so it was great to enjoy this mini holiday to France!

Another cracking success from Julie Caplin. What could be better than a glorious French chateau, a handsome winemaker and delicious french food? Be prepared to be transported, as Hatttie tries to establish her wedding business with all the odds against her. Handsome Frenchman Luc sees her as standing in the way of his ambition to start producing the chateau's wines again. This enemies to lovers trope is well worked and the reader will enjoy the journey. Delightfully moreish..
I can always rely on Julie to whisk me away on a fabulous adventure to a beautiful location, filled with intriguing characters and scrumptious food!
This was a wonderful trip to France, I really enjoyed the concept of Hattie escaping away to the chateau to take on the huge challenge of organising her cousin’s wedding. Seeing her rise to the many challenges was really enjoyable and seeing her settle into the little community of the chateau was also so lovely.
The slow burn romance was gorgeous too, and I loved Luc’s character so much, he has become another new book boyfriend to add to my list!
Another great book from one of my favourite feel good authors, Julie’s fantastic books are always such a treat to read and immerse myself into ❤️
Loved the book! Perfect holiday read! Once I started it didn’t want to put it down! Had me wanting to book the first flight to france!
This was a lovely easygoing read. Lots of nice food, fantastic setting, this was a very enjoyable book. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone novel.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.
My Review: I absolutely Love Julie Caplin and her wonderfully funny, sexy and yummy stories. I am delighted to say that this new story was just as awesome as the rest of her books. I do have a bit of a crush on the gorgeous and well travelled Luc and his French accent. :) Hattie is a wedding planner on a mission to plan a fantastic wedding, she's so determined that she even gives up on her floundering relationship to plan Gabriella's wedding in France. I love that Surrey gets a mention, as does hot, sweaty, mindless, meaningless... you know what I mean. Beautiful scenery, a gorgeous Vineyard, drama, a lot of hope with an idea for romance, love and some well written characters, such as: Madame Chiquot, Solange Alphonse, Marthe and so on. Oh and lets not forget the delicious St Martin Champagne.
The French Chateau Dream as everything I needed right now. I adore travel romance books, wedding themes and stunning locations so I couldn’t get enough of this novel by one of my favourite writers; Julie Caplin.
With very little experience, but a lot of enthusiasm and an ultimatum from her boyfriend, Hattie sets off to France to organize her cousin’s wedding in a beautiful chateau. Add into the mix the handsome Luc and what go wrong?
Faced with a bigger challenge than ever imagined, I loved Hattie’s journey as she prepared the chateau for her cousin’s wedding. Hattie is such a delightful character and I was with her every step of the way as she battled few a few obstacles to get the wedding and venue organized and ready for Gabby’s big day. I really enjoyed how the community and other characters came together after a rocky start. The characters all played off each other and contrasted, whilst compliments each other so well. I became totally immersed in this community.
The Chateau itself was like an additional character. The transformation was a joy to witness. The setting was beautifully created and described and I completely travelled there with Hattie.
I adored The French Chateau Dream and highly recommend it as a lovely, summer read.
A sweet romance with a dual POV. #10 in the series but perfect as a stand alone.
Personal growth, learning to love again and embracing the future all with a beautiful French chateau setting, how can it get any better? Wedding planning and wine, that’s how!
A good one when you need a sweet little romance to make your heart go pitter patter.
Thanks to @rachelsrandomresources, @onemorechapterhc @juliecaplinauthor for having me on tour.
If you haven’t checked out this author yet and love sweet romances- she has a great backlist that are ready and waiting for you!
This is another gorgeous read from Julie Caplin. Her settings are just perfect and the characters involved in her stories just perfectly chosen.
Hattie and Luc had that wonderful chemistry from the very start and I loved seeing how he was able to share his love of the chateau and France with Hattie as she grew to realise what was important.
The descriptions of the wedding planning were so vividly detailed and the foods discussed definitely made my mouth water. A certain addition needed for any #romfiction addict like myself.
I enjoyed this romantic story set in French Champagne country with new and familiar characters from previous Romantic Escapes. After a recent break-up, Hattie wants a fresh start, but her past won't let her go, and she risks turning her back on happiness. Luc wants to make champagne at the chateau again, but when he finds his father has agreed to hire his home out for a wedding and meets the wedding planner, his dreams lose focus. It's an immersive read full of food and glamorous settings. I like Hattie and Luc, both have an emotional journey to undertake, and their road to romance is full of conflicts, many stemming from themselves. The romance is believable and lovely, and this escapist story has an engaging mix of humour and poignancy.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
Sweet and sassy summer romance
This is the first book I have read by Julie Caplin and it certainly won't be the last. Just what you need to read on a relaxed day or night. Our heroine is sweet and determined, our hero is also trying to make a big change in his life. The setting is a dream and the food is so tempting.
Thank you to the publisher who lent me a time limited e-arc via netgalley with no obligation. This review is optional and my own opinion.
Faced with an ultimatum from her boyfriend, Hattie decides to follow her dreams – she might not have that much experience as a wedding planner, but there’s plenty of time to sort out her cousin Gabby’s wedding at the French chateau in champagne country. Meeting the rather gorgeous Luc on arrival rather lifts her spirits, only to despair a little when she finds the chateau needing a lot of work to make it wedding-ready. It seems that housekeeper Solange has let things slip a little – for the best of reasons, that soon become clear – and things only go from bad to worse when it becomes clear there’s someone out to sabotage her plans, leaving her with no caterers for the big day. Unlike Hattie, the reader knows exactly who’s behind it – but it means she has to call on a friend (one we’ve met before in this series – and so lovely to see her again!) to try to save the day.
Meanwhile Luc – however intriguing he might find Hattie – is none too pleased at his father opening up the chateau to weddings. He’s pursuing his dream of re-establishing a business there producing the finest champagne, working with friends from his youth – and worries that his plans might be derailed. Until viewing the estate from the air opens up some unexpected new possibilities – although he still needs to get his grandmother (particularly haunted by spectres from the past) and his difficult father on-side with his plans for the future.
With a well drawn cast, a vividly drawn setting, and a captivating story, this book is a delight. If you’re a foodie, you’ll find so much to enjoy between its pages – the trips to market are quite wonderful, the adventures in the chateau’s kitchen equally so. The cast of supporting characters is excellent, and the story takes a number of unexpected twists and turns before its wholly satisfying conclusion. Both Hattie and Luc were really sympathetic characters who won my heart – and I was entirely invested in the success of their individual ventures, and in their developing relationship.
As a summer read, this book was pretty near perfect – transporting you to its beautifully drawn location, with a story that never failed to engage me from its beginning to the very end. As befits a story set in champagne country, there’s plenty of fizz and sparkle – but more than enough substance to satisfy the most discerning palate. Beautifully done – and a strong recommendation from me!

I really enjoy reading and/or listening to Julie Caplin's stories. They are such a lovely escape from my every day life and often set abroad, somewhere interesting that I am not all too familiar with.
Although the story is set in a vineyard, there is not that much about the wine there. The focus of this story is Hattie and the wedding she is there to plan and how she gets on in this completely new environment where not everyone seems to welcome her or the fact that an outsider is to have a wedding at the chateau. This sometimes leads to unpleasant situations for Hattie and other times it was quite funny.
As for the romance... it was definitely there, sometimes more than I expected, when listening without a headset, but it was not smooth sailing. There were some misunderstandings and unexpected events, but overall it was just a lovely gentle story.
🍇Magical setting, hijinks & romance🏰
4-4.5🌟 stars
This story took me on a trip to an idyllic location where the romance was sweet and the heroine got to stretch her wings and shoot for her dreams. It was a perfect fit for a lazy, summer day of kicking back and relaxing with an easy, all's well that ends well read. It was not short on charm and even came with a niggle of mystery.
I found plenty to like in this novel. First, the French chateau and vineyard setting with all the luscious food and drink: sublime😋. Yvette's campaign to divert Hattie to another venue for the high class wedding she's planning: I was just waiting to learn what new wrinkle she'd come up with. The running battle between Alphonse and Hattie's caterer friend Fliss: lively and fun. And I liked the way Hattie just kept on confronting obstacles head on and never giving up. The fact that her chateau experience included a handsome Frenchman: so-o fitting that Hattie gets the full fairytale-in-the-castle experience.
Luc, the male lead, disappointed me initially because he seemed so flirty and a bit full of himself but at the same time uncaring about Hattie, a guest in his home. After a time his attitude took a better turn and he redeemed himself in my eyes. Just took a while.
Although it was an uncomfortable situation, I liked the subplot about Hattie's dilemma with Chris, the boyfriend back home in England who just did not want to let go.
I've followed author Julie Caplin's heroines around the world in this series and The French Chateau Dream was an excellent addition.
Thanks to Harper Collins UK/One More Chapter and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
It's not the most original story, but it certainly fills the heart and entertains.
Hattie arrives at a Champagne chateau to prepare everything for her cousin's wedding. It's exactly what she needed after losing herself in a relationship that had her taking care of her boyfriend, and inexplicably, his mom. She'd lost sight of herself and the joys of life, so breaking up and taking the chance her uncle offered was perfect. Except she arrives at a house that has been left abandoned by sadness just as the young owner, Luc, arrives to once again make it a working winery.
It's a story populated by interesting characters and some fun twists to make Hattie really work for her much-deserved happy ending. There are also some very romantic moments that show the different ways relationships can be, and a tiny mystery to add extra oomph to the last act. Plus, there's the mandatory in all France-set stories, the delectable descriptions of food you'll be drooling over.
As I said, it's a story that's been told countless times before that still entertains simply because it's a perfect escapist fantasy when told well, which Caplin unquestionably manages.
Delighted thanks to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the charming romance read!
Hattie is offered a job as a wedding planner at French chateau. On her first day she runs into Luc the owner. She has a wedding to plan but everything and everyone seems to be working against her.
I wasn’t too sure about the characters at the beginning of the book. They kinda all turn themselves around and I found myself liking them more. It’s a good story with some nice romance. A perfect summer book
Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for the early copy
The French Chateau Dream is an absolute delight and all I want to do is go back and read it again.
Every so often, I read a book that just resonates with my romantic soul on a whole ‘nother level, and this is one of those books for me. I lost count of the number of times I reread a scene in this book just because it gave me wonderful butterfly feelings or what I can only describe as this rush of happiness. And the thing, I’ve had the same fabulous reading experience with a few of the other books in this series (I haven’t read them all yet). Everything Julie writes has been that good for me.
Now let’s talk about why I love this book so much. First, I got to talk about the gorgeous and unforgettable setting. In this book, we get to spend our time in the French countryside in an amazing Chateau that is breathtakingly beautiful and so rich in history. I felt like I was being transported to this enchanted place and did not want to leave. There is also some pretty great food talk in this book. It felt like the story was bursting with mouth-watering food descriptions at every turn. It was just so delicious.
All the characters are delightful and just so real. I loved, loved, loved Hattie. She is a person who is always the one to take care of others, even at the expense of her happiness. At the beginning of this story, Hattie has finally put her dreams first and has begun her journey to start her own wedding planning business. Her first job is to plan her cousin’s wedding at this gorgeous French chateau. Like many romance heroines, she is downtrodden at the beginning of their stories. In Hattie’s case, it is from having to take care of her boyfriend and his mother, who are both super needy. She has lost her zest for life. But of course, that is all going to change with this new adventure and also with the help of Luc, a gorgeous French man.
We get two wonderful love stories in this book. First, we have the main love story between Hattie and Luc, which will have you swooning in your reading chair. Then we have this fiery, passionate love story between Fliss and Alphonse. Hattie and Luc are amazing together as a couple. The chemistry between these two characters is delicious, and there is this soft sexiness to their relationship. Their relationship just gave me all those wonderful, good feelings. Fliss and Alphonse’s love story was an utter surprise to me, but I love it. These two are like oil and water. They fight like cats and dogs, but chemistry and attraction are so evident. I loved watching the battle of wills between these two. It was so much fun.
The French Chateau Dream is the book of my romantic dreams, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great escapist love story.
Thank you, HarperCollins UK and Rachel Random Resources for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
What a beautifully written book, based in France at a chateau.
Hattie has accepted the job as wedding planner for her cousin, when she arrives she meets Luc, the son of the owners chateau. Both characters are sweet and very interesting to read about. The setting is wonderful with loads of detail and descriptions.
A lovely romance that will make you smile.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
Hattie escapes to a French a Chateau after splitting with her boyfriend to organise her cousin's wedding, her first independent job as a wedding organiser. There she bumps into dishy resident Luc and sets to work organising the wedding, however things don't go to plan.
I've always enjoyed books but this author and for this one the setting sounds absolutely delightful, as does the food - the latter especially as I'm on a diet at the moment and it kept me feeling hungry all the time I was reading it. There is the growing attraction between the two, plus someone trying to sabotage the wedding for her own reasons, keeping the pace going. Add a matriarch aunt, a grieving housekeeper and a very posh English chef and I end up really enjoying this touch of escapism.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influenced my review of the book.
Hattie meets Luc when she is in France to plan her cousins wedding. When she gets there, nothing is as she expected ans secrets are being kept, so will she be able to pull off the wedding that is expected? A great read and a great setting.
