I enjoyed this collection of color work designs, and a few patterns. There is a nice description of how to choose good yarns to work with. The designs are cute (I especially liked the design with the socks repeated - maybe I'll have to make some socks with a sock design on them ;) ) and relatively easy to follow. She includes the chart, the number of stitches per repeat, and the design knitted up. A great addition to your knitting tool collection.
I received a preview copy and am giving it an honest review.
Looks like a great Stitch Dictionary. I will probably purchase when it is available. The few pages that I was able to view looks awesome. Loved the photographs used and the charts.
I loved the colors and different patterns shown in this preview of the dictionary!! This knitting guide is so pretty to look at, and I love the pictures of the finished versions.
Thank you to Netgalley, Andrea Rangel, and Penguin Random House, Interweave for providing me with a free book sample!
The sample contains some beautiful, creative, colorful patterns that motivate you to knit immediately. As I have only read a piece of the book I can not judge the level of detail in descriptions and whether a beginner can work with this book. However, it was very inspirational.
This book contains helpful guides to creating different patterns with your yarn and knitting projects. Easy enough for beginners to follow.
What I loved the most about this book (tough I got only a small sample) is that this is innovative and unusal colorwork. We can get geometrical or classical designs easily, but this book offers a lot of different, interesting, simple but beautiful and modern patterns. Some look like optical illusions, and a lot of them are botanical or inspired by nature. The charts are big and easy to follow. I can't wait to get the full book!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for access to an advance sample of this book.
Though only a sampling of the book, the few pages viewed were delightful. The colorwork was beautiful and modern. Many of the motifs were nature-inspired and would be suitable for a wide variety of projects. The photography is gorgeous as well.
I just had a advanced copy that is lacking, the images are not great, the patterns are not there or just a mess of numbers. but i love the images on the cover.
If you liked Andrea Rangel's book AlterKnit, you'll also enjoy KnitOvation, which offers even more modern colorwork stitch patterns. My favorite is Willowherb, which is a fun repeating flower pattern. Some of the other stitches include additional flowers, leaves, fruit, and geometric patterns. In addition, there are patterns included where you can easily add in your chosen pattern. At the beginning of the book, there is helpful information about choosing yarn and how to use a stitch dictionary. All in all, I would say this is a beneficial addition to any colorwork knitter's repertoire.
I was able to read an early sample of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publisher.
Read through this 13 page snippet with my coffee this morning and I am looking forward to casting on a few of the designs just to practice. I am still learning, but they are written well and I can follow them even as a beginner. Looking forward to the whole book.
KnitOvation Stitch Dictionary 150+ Modern Colorwork Knitting Motifs by Andrea Rangel
Always looking for new stitches to use in my charity afghans.
The file I received is just a sample of one pattern in the book. The graphics are very high to transfer to a computer.
There are chapters devoted to an intro to color knitting, stitches, patterns and extra. Ends with alpha index and stitch and row counts.
There are charted squares of two color knitting available. Stitches are discussed along with needle size, gauge and notions needed. How to assemble the item made has notes also.
There are charts and also color and needle symbols. Not for a very beginner, in my opinion as there are some things that are left out of this sample portion.
Love maple tree leaf the best but also love daisies.
Each patterns starts with a title, finished sizes, supplies and what the model was used to make.
Ends with about the author and more motifs in various colors.
Will be an excellent resource reference book to have for your library.

Received this review copy from Penguin Random House, Interweave via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
#KnitOvationStitchDictionary #NetGalley.
This is a gorgeous book with some amazing patterns and ideas.
There is a brief introduction helping you to select the right yarn for your project.
Then there are stitch guides from botanical to abstract.
Following that, there is a lovely hat pattern.
Unfortunately given that I only have received 13 pages of this book, it has been hard to give honest feedback on the merit of this book. . I did like the small content I saw, and as I am a prolific knitter, I will search the book out in the stores to see more. Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DRC .
Even though this is a sample, I really enjoyed looking at these charts and the sampled pattern was interesting. I can’t wait to get the full book and also to try out these stitch patterns for myself.
I only got a little part of the digital file for the book with only a few first pages, so I cannot say if it is good beyond the part I have seen and it might not.
What I saw was really exciting. I liked the new colorwork. The designs were all stitched with contrasting colors, easy to see, and quite attractive. They included only color charts for the designs.
I think they also included a project or two but again, this is not what I could see from my sample.
I am giving it generous four stars, but only because I had the books from the author before and loved them
Hard to get a good feel of the usefulness of this dictionary from what was provided. I am an avid stranded knitter and love a good library like this. But without being able to see how the patterns are given it's tough. I love the idea and will look for this once released to give it a chance.
I only got to look at a super brief preview of this, but, having used the previous book in this series, I'm so excited for this one to come out. The graphics are always great and there are some new designs I cannot wait to incorporate in color work projects!
KnitOvation Stitch Dictionary is a reference and instruction book for over 150 knitting motif. However I only received a few pages of the book to write a review on and do not feel that this is enough to give an honest and fair opinion. If this is a mistake please post the rest of the book for a full review thank you
Thank you NetGalley!
I am super excited about this book! It is going to be a great opportunity to extend my knitting knowledge, and I cant wait to try out these patterns. They look so beautiful of the cover.

by Andrea Rangel was a sample of the book for me and I loved the illustrations. I only had 8 pages but was in awe.
I’m certain that this isn’t for a beginner but a novice knitter.
Thanks Interweave via NetGalley.
