I was hooked from the very beginning. This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn’t put it down. This is the first book I have read from this author and will definitely read more. Highly recommend!
I think I have found another author that I am going to consume all of their works.
When I’m looking to read a thriller, this is the type of feeling I am looking for. I want to feel on the edge of my seat, anxious to read what comes next. I am so pleasantly happy that I got that feeling with this book.
I can’t think of anything that I would change about this book. I truly loved every moment of it.
What impressed me the most about this book is that often when books jump between different character points of view I can find myself confused or find that one of the points of view was unnecessary but that wasn’t the case with You Can’t Hide. I struggled to figure out which point of view I was looking forward to reading the most out of the two.
What a fun, twisted ride this was.
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for providing me this arc.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book had such a twist! There were two women characters who narrated this book and had two completely different stories to tell. I was waiting the entire time to figure out how their stories aligned or if they did! Two different women with two different stories. How will their thrilling adventures turn out?
I feel like I start a lot of my reviews like this, but if you are in the market for a solid, suspenseful thriller that will keep you engaged throughout, this is for you. The prose style is exciting and detailed, and the dual POV means you keep reading just to find out what happens next.
However, this is where the issues for me begin - I guessed this entire plot by about Chapter Four. And I'm not saying that just to toot my own horn, this just wasn't subtly written in any way. Which, if you want an easy-read that you don't have to think about too much, then it probably won't affect you. I will say that I found Beth's POV to be fairly dull and repetitive - it centres entirely around there being someone in the cabin that shouldn't be there, but we know all of this from the blurb anyway, so it became tedious to read for so long. Lizzy's POV was far more interesting (and disturbing) - a part of me wishes that the novel focused entirely on that timeline and really drilled down into the psychology of the characters and relationships. The ending I found fairly lacklustre - I wasn't entirely sure what the point of it was supposed to be? Maybe I had just checked out a bit by this point.
Ultimately, I enjoyed reading it, but the fact I was correct about the "twists" really hindered the climax of the novel. If you like action-packed thrillers that keep you turning the page, go for this - just don't poke too many holes in it.
cw// murder, abuse, domestic abuse, torture, arson, implications of sexual abuse
I love a good thriller / mystery and You Can't Hide is that to a TEE! I really enjoyed how this book was written. The layout made it very fast-paced yet also added in keeping you guessing. I love a good twist, or two or three. But I am not a big fan of a twist that wasn't at least a little teed up at some point. Even if the twist fits I like to be able to at least try and figure it out. That being said the twists and turn in You Can't Hide kept me reading to the last page and it would highly recommend this to any thriller lover.
Trigger warning: domestic violence / abuse
Okay, wow! First of all, I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were interesting and captivating and I felt like I knew them. The story was well written, with good descriptions and plots twists that were unexpected but not unbelievable.
This was my first time reading Emily's book and I can say that I look forward to read her future works also.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good thrill with a touch of mystery!
I'll be posting the whole review on Goodreads!
They say you can run from your past but you cannot hide. Beth is hiding something from her husband, something that she believes will ruin her life as she knows it She thinks her past is safe from the one she loves until it comes to visit her face-t0-face. Beth must decide - keep the past hidden and do what she can to keep it that way or watch her marriage end and face even bigger consequences. Shiner's newest thriller is fast-paced and will genuinely keep you guessing from the very first page. By the end, you'll wonder "how did I ever miss that?"
If you love Freida McFadden, this one is for you! I could not put this book down and read it in one day. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was completely wrong. This thriller will keep you on your toes and asking for more. I have already recommended it to all of my Freida friends and they can't wait until it comes out!
I haven’t read anything from this author but I really enjoyed it, I will be keeping an eye on them for future books
You can't hide by Emily Shiner.
Beth thought she’d escaped her past. But all this time, it’s been waiting for her…
Beth and Ian are desperate to have a child. So much so that they decide to sell his family cabin in upstate New York to pay for IVF.
But when they get there Ryan the caretaker is there. But what does he want???
Omg what a read. Really enjoyed it. Didn't expect that twist either. I love Emily's books. Always gripping and twisty. 5*.

I was fascinated by this book. I've never read anything by this author before. So, it was a good introduction to someone whose books I will read more of soon.
I'm not going to give a description of the book for reasons that will become clear in a second. But it's safe to say that nothing was what I expected.
The book is written using two points of view in alternating chapters. I was quite far into the book when I realised what the connection was. There didn’t seem to be one. Until I noticed it and, well, yeah, how did that escape me?
I loved that!
Having said that, had I paid more attention to the book's description, I feel like I would have spotted the connection far earlier. This, for me, because I was so intrigued, would have lowered my option of the book slightly. I just don’t know how the description could be changed to avoid giving away massive parts of the story.
I wasn't a massive fan of the ending - it was a little abrupt for me. However, it probably ended in the right place.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I'm giving it a wavering four stars. Wavering on the basis of the ending and because the current book description would have changed my experience (had I read it properly).
WOW! WOW! WOW!
This book is dark and twisted and the ending gave me goosbumps!
Two stories are told throughout the book, and it took me a while to connect them fully and peice together the connections. But when it came together - oh my goodness!! The book is very intense, and definately does not make light reading. Personally I struggle with ebooks - much preferring to have a physical copy in my hands, so I feel i may not have been as absorbed as I would if it was a physical read. I had to keep stop and sdtarting and coming back to it, only readiong 10 or so pages each time. But again, this is due to my preference pf physical books as opposed to this story itself.
Definately recommend
Husband like Zachary was scary, psycho husband who controlling, want everything perfect, must obey him, beside that the worst kind of doctor. oh my god how Lizzy endure it for almost a year was miracle. Its like never ending story for Lizzy, same cycle over and over. At the end i hope Ian really love her and accept her, more than anything.
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

Wow, what an amazing thriller, I've only recently come across this author and I can't wait to read more books, You Can't Hide was such an addictive read I had to keep on reading, and what an amazing ending
Actual rating: 3.75⭐️
I'm trying out thrillers again and I saw this one under the 'Read Now' section on netgalley and it looked interesting, so I downloaded it.😅
This was a bit confusing at first but eventually I understood. I like how the story was narrated and it made me very invested on the story. I read this quickly and I was never bored while reading this.
Things and events were detailed but not too much. The characters were written okay-ish. It was enough for me to visualize them.
It was an almost good read. It's just that I'm not a fan of the 'climax' and ending part of the story. It wasn't bad but I felt underwhelmed.
It was an okay read.👍

Wow. This book… wow. So many turns, so many reveals. I was so stressed through this whole book! I finished it in one afternoon, I was obsessed.
I was very uncomfortable reading about one of the characters, which was the intended feeling I would imagine, and I felt so many emotions like disgust and anger and fear. That’s how well written this book was! So many emotions in one book.
The novel kept me guessing! I couldn’t tell how the POVs would overlap until near the end, and even then I was shocked!
There were a couple of things I didn’t love about the book, very minor details that I can’t reveal without spoiling (because there were so many twists!), however the majority of it I enjoyed. One thing I can say as a warning was that there was some (minimal) animal killing which I felt didn’t impact the plot so much that it would be missed if it was excluded, so just a warning.
I will say that the synopsis did not accurately describe what the book was about: the synopsis happened in the last 50 pages of the book. The rest was a complete surprise, which I’m sure some people will like but I kept referring back to the synopsis thinking “when is this going to happen?” So be prepared for that!
Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this book. It’s not going to be for everybody, as it was psychologically twisted and intense, but it was thrilling and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you Netgalley and Inkubator Books for allowing me to read this!
I just finished reading “You Can’t Hide” and my heart is still racing. Very rarely does a book get so intense that my heart races & my breathing quickens, but that is exactly what happened as I got to the end of this book! If you’re looking for a twisted, shocking read, You Can’t Hide is exactly that! The way the author weaves 2 storylines together is brilliant & will have everyone turning the pages quickly to find out what happens. I have been a fan of Emily Shiner for a while now, but after this book she has become one of my favorite authors of psychological thrillers!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Pretty good book. Had me a bit thrown off at first with the two storylines then I was able to put them together as different timelines and realized what was really going on.
I didn’t love the ending but it wasn’t bad.
Beth and Ian travel to his family cabin to tidy it so they can sell it to raise money for IVF. Things quickly turn strange and they can't help but think that the caretaker Ryan is acting funny... could Beth's past be coming back to haunt her?
A thrilling and dark tale full of shocks, secrets and revenge. I like how we go between two different narratives and how they connect up. A great read.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.
I was excited to read this book after reading other fantastic books by the same author. Well, it certainly didn’t disappoint. What a great read!
It’s all the components to make a great thriller; a unique plot, atmospheric setting, plenty of twists, unusual characters and a fabulous ending.
I thought it was a hugely enjoyable read and would certainly recommend.
This is my first book by Emily Shiner, but it definitely won’t be my last! I thought at first it would be confusing with two different POV, but it wasn’t.
There were quite a few times I wanted to throw my kindle because I got so mad at a character lol. I don’t know if I’ve ever hated a character as much as I did that one!
The story line was intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat! About halfway through I had guessed (correctly) what was going on, but there were still some twists that I didn’t see coming! So so good! 5/5 stars!
