This was a gripping book that I enjoyed more than I was expecting. I was totally invested in the storyline and finding out what happened to Rose.
I liked the fact that the writer gave us different perspectives when writing and drip fed some key information, including tensions within Rose's relationships.
There were a couple of good twists and I definitely did not see the ending / resolution coming. However, I found it a little uncomfortable and unnecessary and felt that the story could have taken so many different routes, I'm not sure why the writer chose to go down that final road? That's just my personal response though and I can see why others enjoyed this twist. For me, it was definitely unpredictable though.
Overall, a gripping and well-written thriller that has definitely encouraged me to read more by this author.
This domestic thriller was such a page turner. Told in alternating POVs, we find out that each of the women have their own secrets. How these come together to solve the disappearance of Rose will have you reeling. Cleverly written with a twist I didn't see coming at all, I definitely recommend this book. I am looking forward to reading more by this author now.
loved this book- couldnt put it down, just wanting her to escape, but does anyone really ever escape even in death their is always a bloodline!
Great book.
One where things are not what they seem.
Twisty story with a few red herrings and a time time that flips back and forwards.
I was pleasantly surprised with this one! I didn’t know what to expect but I love a good thriller. It had good pacing and I was interested the whole time!
This is such a fantastic written story I loved all the twists and turns it was like being on a rollercoaster I didn't want this story too end but such an amazing ending I never guessed I love a good thriller that keeps me on my
A great thriller. So much suspense and read very quick, which is exactly what I was in the mood for. Would definitely recommend and will be reading more by this author. Thanks for the ARC!
Sometimes books about the kids are upsetting to me but this one was done so well! The suspense, the characters, the plot twists!! Kathryn Croft has done it again!

Lucy and Jack move from London to Surrey to try and make a fresh start for themselves and their children Jack and Ava after Ava had suffered from bullying. They decide to host a welcome party which turns into a BBQ. It goes well although Jack and his girlfriend Rose don't seem to spend much time together. The next morning Rose's mother Carrie phones Lucy to ask if she has seen Rose as she didn't seem to have come home after the party. Jack insists he dropped her off home. However is he telling the truth? This book is an intriguing psychological thriller that will keep you turning the pages from the start. I ended up reading it in one sitting of several hours. Kathryn does a fantastic job of weaving the chapters from the three main characters perspectives perfectly so we start slowly getting a picture of what is going on and what happened but she doesn't give too much away to spoil it for readers. The character perspectives we are told the story from are Lucy who is Jack's mother, Carrie who is Rose's mother and Rose herself. Not only do we get to see the storyline from multiple perspectives but also from both past and present timelines which Kathryn also does a fantastic job weaving together to create tension and suspense as we turn the pages.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
Well, I can't say I enjoyed "The Lie." The plot was simple and generic but the first few chapters really drew me in however, it kinda dragged in the middle. Such a waste. It could've been more enjoyable.
Still, this was an OK read.
Rose doesn't return home after a party and my son was supposed to take her home. My jaw was literally on the floor while reading this physcological thriller.
Quick but great read! It kept my attention going, but I could somewhat guess what was going to happen next.
I love Kathryn Croft's books. Even the ones I rate on the lower side are still some of the better thrillers. This book is excellent and has many twists and turns, as usual. I was so happy to see she had a new book.
I was SO lucky to receive an advance copy of The Lie by Kathryn Croft from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I am a huge fan of Kathryn Croft so I did a happy dance when I was approved to read this early. This book is absolutely amazing! In true fashion of Kathryn Croft there are lots of twists and turns that will keep you guessing what is going to happen next. I loved everything about this book and have told everyone I know to read it ASAP! Do yourself a favor and don't wait, read it now. I can't wait to read more by her in the future.
I really enjoyed this story, and it was a great premise. The only thing I felt it was missing was a better ending - I found this one predictable.
A really enjoyable read that I couldn't put down. Well paced with a good amount of twists that kept me guessing

And the ending just W ow
Can’t wait for her next book
Thanks NetGalley
I’ve somehow missed Kathryn Croft to this point - so many past books to catch up on now because this was an addictive holiday read.
Mum Lucy faces a situation when her son Jacob’s girlfriend Rose has gone missing and Jacob is suspected of being involved. Even his younger sister Ava and stepdad Tom think he is hiding something and his actions certainly give that impression. As the drama unfolds, the narrative develops from the perspective of a few characters, most notably Lucy - whose maternal instinct is sorely tested and Rose’s Mum Carrie who has other loyalties.
All of these characters makes the story sound more complicated than it is. With plenty of twists and turns it’s a pacy and enjoyable read
A psychological labyrinth takes shape in this haunting thriller, leaving you questioning reality and fearing the dark secrets that lie beneath.
I definitely would like to explore more of Kathryn’s other novels! This book was a page turner with its short chapters and cliff hanger endings. I was eager to keep going!
