Nicole left town shortly after the disappearance and suspected murder of her best friend. She has always believed her parents might have been involved. Now she is forced to confront the past when her young pregnant sister goes missing. Could her parents be involved in another disappearance or have they been innocent the whole time?
The Night She Vanished is a thriller set in America.
Nicole left town and married her high school sweetheart. But she has never managed to escape the past. When her sister Aimee goes missing she returns to her hometown, even more anxious for her safe return when she discovers Aimee was 8 months pregnant. Then some bones are found at an abandoned property, could this be Aimee or the remains of her best friend at last?
This book is full of tension and emotion. Nicole has always thought that her parents knew something about her best friend Lori's disappearance and is now terrified that they have done something to her sister. She even suspects her dad could be the father of her sister's unborn child but he strenuously denies this. There is a real sinister atmosphere and no one seems to give a straight answer.
Most of the book is set in 2022 but there are some chapters set in the summer or 2008 when Lori went missing. This heightens the tension as we wait for the worst to happen to Lori. Remains are found in the present and Nicole has to deal with this shock as well as coping with being back in her childhood home with her parents.
The Night She Vanished is an entertaining and engaging thriller.
This is the second by this author that I have read. The first one was amazing, but this one didn't quite hit the mark for me.
I didn't like any of the characters. The main character was stupid and getting really annoying with her conspiracy theories, and they were getting a bit ridiculous and far fetched.
It did start to redeem itself towards the end where the twists and turns came thick and fast and I didn't see the ending until it was on top of me.
I would definitely read this author again, so don't let this one put you off
An unputdownable thriller that will have you suspecting everyone!! I loved this book and didn't want it to end. Looking forward to more by Wendy Dranfield.
Didn’t really know what to expect going into this one but right away I was hooked! I liked how everything slowly unfolded and I had some suspects in my mind but was wrong about most of my predictions.
It was a real rollercoaster of emotions with how I felt with the main family of the story but was very pleased with how it ended.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It's kinda similar to a couple of books that I've read in the past but that didn't take away the fun and thrill this one had.
I would've wanted for the twists to be more unpredictable but well, we can't have everything, anyway.
Kudos to the author!
Full review to come on Goodreads and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy
You must pay attention because there is a lot going on in this one. The story intrigued me and kept me engaged But it was very convoluted
I really enjoy this ladies books and this one didn’t disappoint
An absolutely brilliant
Well written story with some twists
Thanks NetGalley
For the life of me I could not wait to find out what happened in this book. Imagine thinking your parents are murderers .
oh my goodness this was so intense and all the families were so dysfunctional. This was one I just had to read in one setting and it worked so well, I didn't know where it was going to go and who was going to be blamed.
I love reading Wendy Dranfield books, they just engulf you and take you away and you really need to know what happens. I didn't work it out I honestly though it was someone else - what a great author to enable that to happen given the number of books that I read.
I was given a free copy by netgalley and bookouture but the review is entirely my own.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

I highly recommend this book and author you will not be disappointed. This is my first read from Wendy and definitely will not be my last. This was a fast paced book filled with so many twist and turns!
I really enjoyed this book I was gripped right from the very start and it hooked me all the way through. It was twisty and kept me guessing.
Books like this is why I love Netgalley because I don’t think I would’ve read this one otherwise and now I found a new author I get to go and read more of!!
The pages practically turn themselves in this white-knuckle thriller, as the characters' relentless pursuit of truth leads to an explosive climax.
Nicole left home the moment she was old enough to and has not been back since. However, a conversation with her mother saying her younger sister, Aimee, has gone missing sends Nicole right back to where she grew up. With the return visit home brings a lot of memories of her teenage years, especially of her best friend going missing and never being found. Is the same thing happening again with her sister? Nicole was part of a foursome group of friends (including her now husband), her best friend and her best friend's boyfriend. Lucky for Nicole her best friend's boyfriend, Kurt, is now law enforcement but unlucky for Nicole her dad is still the sheriff. Nicole and her parents don't exactly get along. In fact, Nicole is fairly certain they murdered her best friend and is now worried that history is repeating itself. Can she find her sister before it's too late?
This was a fast paced book that left me questioning almost every single character. I'm fairly certain that I accused each character at least once of being responsible for the missing girls. I liked how the book was written in the way that you get little bits of information about the characters at a time from the past and the present, so you are always second guessing yourself. I love a good mystery and this definitely was one. It left me guessing right up until the end. I would definitely recommend this book. The characters were great, the chapters were not too long and the mystery was awesome.
I was lucky enough to receive this book to read for free and this is my honest review.
Nicole returns home after finding out her sister Aimee has gone missing. Nicole hasn't spoken to her parents since she left home at 17.
Nicole's parents are not exactly welcoming her home with open arms and why are they are both acting suspiciously?
I was so caught up in this book I actually read it in one sitting.
Who can you trust when everyone seems to be keeping secrets.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
I have a question...
What is better than a free book?
A free book that is sure to be a bestseller!!!!! (DUH)
The Night She Vanished, was an extremely fast paced book that kept me guessing until the very end. A little less than 400 pages but I was easily able to zip through it in one sitting. It wasn't that I wanted to rush through it, I was just eager to find out if my amateur detective skills were spot on....
I failed miserably!
However, it made it all the more entertaining that I was actually stumped.
All in all this was a great book and I would highly recommend this one to the thriller book loving genre.
Teaser :
A missing daughter. A devastated family. A secret they would kill to keep.
Twelve years ago, I escaped my small midwestern hometown and never looked back. Now, sitting on my porch in the sun with my handsome husband, my old life couldn’t feel further away. But my world comes crashing down when I answer the phone to the one person I never thought I’d hear from again: my mother.
And when she utters four little worlds my heart stops in my chest: “Your sister is missing”.
I know everyone will be doing all they can to search for Aimee, sending my perfect parents home-baked cookies and sharing in their grief. Because everyone looks up to Ron and Debbie Chambers: the town sheriff and the dependable midwife. But the neighbors don’t know what I know. And they wouldn’t believe me if I told them…
I’m convinced this isn’t the first time a young girl has gone missing because of them. And it’s why I ran away all those years ago.
So now I have no choice but to return. I’m the only person who knows what they’re capable of. I’m the only one who can find my little sister.
Or so I thought… As the closer I get to discovering the truth, the less sure I become of everything. And by the time I find out, will I be too late to save her? Was returning home the deadliest thing I could have ever done?
Nicole has not returned to her hometown for 12 years, after her best friend vanished. She is completely estranged from her family. However, Nicole is forced to return home after her little sister goes missing. Nicole is convinced that her parents had something to do with the disappearance. Nicole is desperate to find her missing sister. Old memories are drawn up. The police never found out what happened to Nicole's missing best friend. Nicole is determined to make sure her sister does not end up with the same fate.
This book definitely starts out slow. The book shifts between the present and the past, revolving around when Nicole's best friend disappeared all those years ago. I was very frustrated with Nicole. She jumped from one illogical conclusion to the next, which overall made this a frustrating read. I always find novels where you cannot connect with any of the characters difficult to read. The premise of the story was super interesting but it just did not live up to its potential.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.
My favourite Wendy Dranfield book so far!
Omg I LOVED this one.
I do have a fascination for books about missing people, and this has to be one of my faves.
The story follows the protagonist who gets asked by her estranged parents to come home because her sister has gone missing. But the relationship is odd to say the least and the parents are acting strangely...
I won't say any more for fear of spoilers, but this was a 'read in one sitting' book for sure! The plot is so fast paced, I'm still thinking about it.
Amazing.
