Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I really enjoyed this book. It was very well written and it kept me guessing the entire time. I couldn’t figure out who to trust and not trust. And I was very happy with the ending as well.
I was quite surprised who the ultimate culprit was. I would not have guessed that one.
Great read.
The Night She Vanished by Wendy Dranfield is a mind-blowing story. It revolves around family estrangement and who you can trust when you can't trust your parents.
The characters each have a complicated backstory with secrets and unresolved trauma that keeps them from moving forward with their lives.
After her best friend vanished when they were just fifteen, Nicole left town and never looked back. She couldn’t prove it, but she thought her parents had killed her best friend. Now, years later, Nicole's little sister has vanished. Nicole returns home to try to unravel her sister's disappearance.
The Night She Vanished is a gripping, nail-biting psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist. There were so many twists it had my head spinning. The back and forth on who was or was not involved and what would happen next kept me reading well into the night. There were some tender, tear-jerking moments, too.
I would recommend this book and this author. A very twisty mystery with some crazy characters! I would rate this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars (rounded to 5).

A very sharp psychological thriller that adds in difficult family situations with ease.
I liked the pace and how Nicole’s character is written.
Thankyou Bookoutre and NetGalley for approving my request to read and review this book!!
This a new psychological standalone book which will take you on a rollercoaster of a ride throughout the plot twists and turns!! There were moments that I thought I had it right but then you are taken down another avenue!!! This book is written over two different time periods - one when Lori disappears and the 2 where Aimee disappears. Nicole is desparate to find out why these disappearances happened. I will recommend to other like minded readers.
This is an exciting new psychological thriller by author Wendy Dranfield.
Nicole returns home when she discovers her younger sister has vanished. Nicole left home left home several years ago when she fell out with her parents following the disappearance of her best friend. Nicole was convinced her parents had murdered her best friend but with no proof decided to leave home. Her parents are two upstanding members of the local community, her mother a midwife and her father the town sheriff so convincing anyone of wrong doing was always going to be difficult. Years later and now her little sister has vanished, Nicole feels the need to return to the family home to unravel what has happened to her and try to uncover the truth of her past.
I enjoyed this one a lot more than I was expecting. An exciting read that kept me guessing and several times I thought I had worked it out.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Let's be clear about one thing: this author writes amazing stories. I have been reading her books for a few years already and she never disappointed me. This is another great one.
What would do when your best friends from school vanishes and because there are no clues, there is not even a body, it's very hard for the police to find the culprit. That's is horrible of course, but what is even worse is that you think your parents have something to do with it. There is only one thing left for you to do. Leave town as soon as possible, because no way are going sticking around those people.
the only thing that is eating at you is not seeing your little sister anymore. When one day you get a call with the most devastating news, you just have to go back even though all the horror is coming back.
Is is a coincidence that as soon as you set foot in your hometown, some bones are being discovered or is there more, much more to it?
Maybe now it's time to get to the bottom of it all. Soon you realise you are in danger, but who do you have to fear? Are you stepping into the lion's den or is there someone else you should be afraid of more?
Coming home to a town where few people like to see you again, is very hard. It's only natural you lean on them... Was this the right thing to do or should you have taken more care with whom to trust?
I loved this story. Of course my money was on the wrong horse again. 5 stars.
Thank you
I good thriller with a 'who dunn it' approach through out the entire read! The reader gets to vary character perspectives and timelines but they are very well labeled and apparent so that was nice. My only complaint was the present tense text. If felt, awkward to me but that's just a personal preference. A good story, although I did feel like the main character was not the greatest person sometimes! Why was she so hell-bent on destroying her family? Geez woman! I also wish there had been a bit of an epilogue at the end set a few years forward to see how everything leveled out. A solid 4 stars
As far as Bookouture reads go, this is a better one. The premise was interesting (What if your parents were killers?), along with the disappearance of the main character's best friend and younger sister. The book had enough twists and turns to keep me reading until the end. Recommended. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
This was a great thriller what a a roller-coaster of a book. This was a fast paced thriller packed full of twists and turns, I thought I had it all worked but how wrong I was. Highly recommend this thriller fantastic book.
Wow what a a roller-coaster read that was! Brilliant, fast paced and jam packed full of twists and turns, just when you think you have guessed it, nope wrong. Highly recommend
Wow wow wow so tense so many twists and turns. An edge of my seat thriller that kept me reading well past my bedtime.an author I will be following and recommending.#netgalley #bookoutture
Brilliantly written drama and easy to visualize.
Full of so many characters which can often be a problem but in this case i soon knew who was who.
I changed my mind several times on who did what. A real joy not to guess straight away!
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
Excellent who done it!
Nicole's sister goes missing and everyone in town is a suspect, including her own family.
This story was full of deep, dark secrets. Not a single character was trustworthy. I was on the edge of my seat as I devoured this book, desperate to know how it would all end.
What happens when you can't trust your family, nor as it turns out most of the people in the town you grew up in. Lots of secrets, some of which if were revealed would have saved years of pain for the main character and her best friend's family So good discussions available on what happens when we keep secrets
A family full of secrets, a town full of secrets. Nicole goes home to a family she doesn't trust when her sister goes missing. Everyone is a suspect including her father, the sheriff. A fast read, interesting, but also a bit melodramatic, which I decided to overlook so I could just enjoy the ride
The night she vanished was a gripping read! the entire time i was reading it (i WHIPPED through it in roughly 4 hours) my heart was pounding and i had so many theories and questions. if you love insanely well written and fast paced books with crazy plot twists and well developed, shady, and secretive characters - PLEASE READ THIS !!!!!
Nicole returns home. Nicole returns to the parents she does not trust. Her pregnant teenage sister has disappeared, and it seems as if no one is looking for her. Her best forever friend disappeared years ago, and she thinks there was a coverup, by her own father, the sheriff. This book takes us on a journey that has so many red herrings it is difficult to guess the ending. I had so many "murderers" ready to take the blame, that I had to regroup. Nicole and her husband have problems as he is not always faithful. She and her friends do not know what happened to Lori, long ago. This is a novel that would make an intriguing movie or a television series. I liked this book. I was immersed in the story of the realistic characters. A talented and gifted author, Dranfield has given us a story that will be remembered. This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. Thanks also to the publisher and the author.
