So when I read this book way back in May I wrote a review and did it on Goodreads but for some reason it didn't save. I do remember really enjoying this book.

My thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing Uk for a copy of “ Keep Her Secret” for an honest review.

This is my first time reading a Mark Edwards book and I really enjoyed it .
For me this was a bit of a slow burner, but once I’d got into it I was hooked. The story was suspenseful and full of twists and I’ll definitely try more of his previous books .

Another great novel from mark edwards. May have felt a little far fetched in places but a fast paced thrilling storyline that I enjoyed.

I love Mark Edwards books and this was no exception his easy to read flowing writing tells a great story.
There was plenty of twists and surprises along the way to keep me gripped.
Meeting up after 20 years at a college reunion Matthew and Helena are attracted to each other immediately, they used to date in college and how much their lives have changed since.
Helena did something bad but how far were the pair of them prepared to go to keep her secret ?!?

Thank you to Thomas & Mercer, Mark Edwards and Netgalley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Mark Edwards writes the twistiest of complex plots and Keep Her Secret hit the mark!

I loved the whole concept behind this novel. The shocking confession, the ensuing blackmail, and the stunning story that follows.

Just what will we do to keep our secrets safe or those of the ones we love?

Bravo, Mr. Edwards, Bravo!

I've read a few of Mark Edwards thrillers and enjoyed them all - this one was no exception. A quick and fun read and a very gripping insight into the spiralling effects of one decision. There was lots of twists and turns and I did guess that one character may not have been as dead as believed but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the plot.

Well, what can I say? Well, firstly thank you to Mark Edwards for allowing me to read this. I suppose I had to really as I feature quite prominently in the book. All I can say is I hope life doesn’t imitate art when it comes to how I might die (sorry minor plot giveaway). Anyway to the book. A great, gripping read that kept me going and not just to see how my namesake was getting on. A horrible secret makes the romance of the main characters turn deadly. This sets the tone for the rest of book as the couple veer from mistake to calamity and back again to try and keep the secret hidden. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves Mark Edwards writing.

A couple start up a relationship again after meeting at a reunion and go on holiday together in Iceland where she she confesses a secret to him which is overheard by another member of the group. This sets off a series events that escalate.

An interesting set of characters and fast paced storyline makes this a compulsive read.

The premise is really simple: to keep her secret. It's quite a shocking secret, but all that has to be done is to keep quiet about it and all will be well. Right.

The story starts with a romantic holiday in the dramatic and beautiful Iceland. A couple have met up again after first being together at university and are enjoying their holiday and being together. Until there is a near-death incident and confessional. The protagonist knows that they are both decent human beings caught up in something rather huge, and he reminds himself of that fact throughout the story, always aiming to do the right thing given the circumstances. But the fear that he may be wrong about his girlfriend is rather exciting to him.

The story is pacy and well written, told mainly in the first person with the occasional chapter from the girlfriend. The sense of place both in Iceland and a fictionalised part of Brighton is very evocative and is definitely a strong feature of this book. History of the landscape is integral to the story, too, and is something I really enjoy.

Tense and immensely human, a true psychological thriller that illustrates how nothing is ever as simple as we initially plan. A story about survival, control, secrets and incredulous secrets. A good read, recommended.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book I have read by this author. Unfortunately, I have decided that this style of writing is not for me. Too disjointed for my liking.

This gripping thriller explores the dark secrets and moral dilemmas that unfold between a reunited couple. The plot takes unexpected turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The characters' complex motivations and the escalating tension make for a compelling read. It raises thought-provoking questions about trust, loyalty, and the lengths one would go to protect a loved one.

I enjoyed this story and the characters within. Mark has a gift for creating memorable environments. I also liked that this thriller was easy to read and had a deep storyline without getting lost in the weeds. The time passed quickly, basically was able to read in one sitting.

I raced through this gripping book, which was so welcome as I had just read a lengthy saga which required concentration. It was so lovely to whip through a book that is so easy to read because of the sheer clarity of the prose and short, sharp chapters. The premise is fantastic – Mark’s new girlfriend, thinking she’s about to die, blurts out her terrible secret. This leads to all sorts of deadly complications in their lives – but also binds them together. I was drawn into their dilemma, literally finding myself unable to breathe and feeling as though I was suffocating at times. Great fun, although with lots of dead bodies, and I adored the Icelandic setting at the start.

When Matthew and Helena get back together, they find themself in a bit of a sticky situation in Iceland, prompting Helena to make a shocking confession. Matthew can't believe Helena would have done what she says but it turns out someone heard her confession and is now using it to their own advantage.

This book started out slow for me but once I reached the 50% mark, things really started to happen. I had my doubts about Helena and kept wondering whether she was genuine and felt sorry for Matthew, having to get so involved. A lot of the scenario was not overly believable, but it was still fun to read. This is definitely one of those popcorn thrillers that will leave you gasping right til the end. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

How far would go to protect the one you love...?

It's been awhile since I've sunk my teeth into a Mark Edwards thriller so I thought with the release of this new one, I should take the leap and delve into its chilling depths and peel back the layers of secrets, lies and twisted deception. Because even though you think you know what is going on, you really don't.

Helena and Matthew are on a spontaneous hiking trip in Iceland having just reconnected after twenty years apart. Having recently lost her husband Lee several months before, Helena throws caution to the wind and agrees to join Matthew on a Northern Lights tour to Iceland. The couple are completely loved up and enjoying their newly rekindled affair when they find themselves separated from the group. Helena is in search of the perfect ultimate photo and will stop at nothing from getting it, posing for selfies in the most precarious of places. She convinces Matthew to follow her to something akin to the top of the world that inevitably holds the best views of the mountains, its valleys and stretching to the sea beyond. It is perfect. Giving Matthew her her phone she poses on the cliff edge, the stunning views behind her.

And then...three seconds is all it takes. Matthew swipes his face, the phone slips, Helena steps back to avoid a collision...into nothingness. And then she's gone.

Matthew freezes. He scrambles to the cliff edge expecting to see Helena's broken body in the valley below. But instead she is a few feet away, the strap of her rucksack having caught on a ledge. But it won't hold for long. Matthew is torn. Should he go for help as there is no phone service here? But Helena pleads with him not to leave her. But he cannot save her on his own. And then, he doesn't have to. Their tour guide has seen them and is leading the group to their location where together, they haul Helena to safety. But not before she whispered an ambiguous confession of sorts. That this was her punishment. What did she mean?

Later in the safety of their cabin, Helena confides in Matthew the truth about what she said up on that cliff edge when she thought she was going to die. A confession that shocks him. But one which he promises to keep and take to the grave. He will keep her secret.

Days later, they have returned to England and to their respective homes. Helena in Brighton and Matthew to London. But when Matthew suddenly finds himself out of a job (cutbacks etc.), Helena invites him to come and stay with her in her stunning house on the cliff above and old smuggler's cove. They had barely made themselves comfortable when the doorbell rings at quite literally the eleventh hour - 11pm at night. They are shocked and surprised to find Devon, one of their group from Iceland, on the doorstep. What on earth does she want? It seems she has come to return Helena's lost journal she had misplaced on the journey home...but she also has an ulterior motive. The secret Helena confided in Matthew about in Iceland? Devon had overheard the confession and what's worse, she recorded it. And now she wants something in return. But things only go from bad to worse and these two only dig themselves in deeper as it goes.

But the secrets have only just begun to resurface... There are so many and everyone is hiding something. So who wants what? And how will it all end? And who will keep her secret?

KEEP HER SECRET is somewhat far-fetched, as are many of Edwards' thrillers, but who cares? I'm here for the entertainment value and the thrills. And this was both of those plus a fast moving quick read I devoured in a day. It's hard to like any of the characters - Helena, Matthew, Devon, Lee - the only one I felt anything for was poor Robin. He was so blind and yet he meant well.

I am a great fan of Edwards' psychological thrillers with three of them being huge favourites - and "Here to Stay" . He has the ability to draw the reader into a tangled web of secrets, lies and deceit and keeps you there until every last thread is unravelled. The suspense is high and the tension is palpable with several twists along the way, though I did guess most (if not all) of them. I thought the epilogue was an incredibly clever touch and those final words "what could possibly go wrong?" pure perfection!!

Thank you again, Mr Edwards, for another thrilling and addictive read. I was surely entertained from start to finish.

I would like to thank #MarkEdwards, #Netgalley and #AmazonPub for an ARC of #KeepHerSecret in exchange for an honest review.

A romantic trip to Iceland sounds like bliss, snuggling up next to a log fire, the Northern Lights, the lagoons and thermal craters. That is until one of you falls off a cliff as the other takes a photo with a spectacular backdrop!

Matthew has got himself into a pickle with a girl who is a mess. And Helena pulls this loved up man into her mess lock stock and two smoking barrels. Things spiral out of control as each of their actions triggers a reaction and these are not good!

This is a signature Edwards read of old with twist after twist. He’s given me the unreliable characters so I do not know who to trust. And oh the twist to end all the spiralling is just shocking! But it just didn’t stop there!!

Keep Her Secret is up there with The Devil’s Work and The Magpies being a favourite Edwards novel! I whizzed through it in a couple of evenings clicking my kindle with eager anticipation to find out how this mess would end!
