Thank you NetGalley and Amazon Publishing UK for the eARC.
This was a so-so read for me, I guessed a lot of the plot and got a bit bored towards the end. It started off well, the Icelandic part was a bit of a nail biter which I enjoyed, but the rest was somehow generic,
not much different from many psychological thrillers.

Mark Edwards never disappoints with his novels and he has done it again with this one. This is an interesting story about Matthew and Helena who after years apart have reunited and decide to go on a trip hiking in the mountains. When an accident almost kills Helena a confession from her about her previous boyfriend sends the lovers down a very dark path they did not expect to travel. This is a dark thriller with lots of twist and turns and a lovely nod to the Magpies if you are a fan of that series. This is one not to be missed.

Matthew and Helen have recently got together after the breakdown of their college romance.
They go to Iceland for a short hiking holiday and Helen plunges over a cliff while seeking 'the perfect photo'. She makes a confession to Matthew that chills him before she is rescued.
Back home, a young girl visits, only to blackmail Helen, as she overheard Helen's confession. Matthew does what he has to in order to protect the woman he loves.

Could barely put this novel down!! It is suspenseful and edge of the seat thrilling!
This is the first book I have read from Mark Edwards, but it won't be my last. That Epilogue!! Just shows that you can't outrun your troubles!

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a thrill ride from start to finish! Matthew and Helena have rekindled their college romance and are on holiday in Iceland. Helena is determined to take the perfect photo while hiking but shockingly loses her balance and tumbles off the side of the cliff. Matthew rushes to cliff's edge to find her dangling precariously, saved only by the strap on her bag. But in the heat of the moment when she thought she was plunging to her death, Helena blurted out a confession.

When they get back to the safety of her cabin, Helena tells Matthew the entire story, and while what he hears makes him uneasy, he understands why Helena did what she did. But the two have a problem...someone heard Helena's confession and attempts to blackmail her, and Matthew finds himself in a never-ending cycle of violence and deception trying to keep Helena's secret safe.

Mark Edwards is a master of writing about ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances. You may shake your head at Matthew's naïvety, but I think most of us want to believe we are a good person and are very skilled at rationalizing our behavior.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for this early copy. KEEP HER SECRET will publish May 30, 2023.

I'm a big fan of the author so was really looking forward to reading this. My favourite books so far have been Here To Stay and The Magpies, and this felt quite similar in tone so I really enjoyed it.

First of all, you have to be willing to massively suspend reality. I love the 'normal people in abnormal situations' trope and this was done really well here. No spoilers but I liked how we started off with a relatively small problem and things just kept getting worse and worse. The epilogue was perfect and I actually laughed out loud at the very end.

I would definitely recommend this book and look forward to Mark.Edwards' future releases.

Rekindling a college romance after 20 years might not be the best option!
With everything on the line, including secretive pasts, abusive and toxic relationship secrets, and blackmail it's seemingly apparent someone may not be truthful.
Devon overheard Helena's confession but what he decides to do next might be the ultimate shocker beyond her falling off the cliff and spilling the beans to Matthew.
Now, Devon is playing the hand she was dealt with power, control, and some additional requests.
Lets just say the past holds secrets with death swirling on the minds of many.
Lee was the abusive spouse and it seems more than a few might like to see him killed. However,it's not until we uncover some 'slipped mickies' that the real deal begins to take hold.
My word, there's so much wheelin' and dealin' here that everything and everyone is a target.
In the end, Robin was the innocent victim and paid the ultimate price as he truly cared for and loved Devon.
Some people just aren't receptive to being loved and their not capable of reciprocation. That holds true even for 'black widows.'
Another well written thriller that kept me glued to every flippin' page.

I like a twisty Mark Edwards thriller so was delighted to get an early copy of this. To be fair, it's a very quick read so although I thought it was a bit ridiculous it didn't take too much time out of my life. A man reconnects with an old school friend who lost her husband in tragic circumstances. It turns out there's a bit more to his death than people realise. Edward's trademark twists verge into the unbelievable pretty quickly and its laugh out loud silly which I don't think is the intention.

Wow what a great thriller this is the first book I have read from this author and it won’t be my last. This was told from mostly Matthew’s perspective he has found his first move again which turns in to a nightmare. This was a fantastic thriller with so many twists and turns with a fantastic ending. Will definitely be recommending this book to all thriller fans as it will keep you on edge until the very end.

Mark Edwards has done it again!! He has successfully provided us readers with yet another winner! This extremely fast-paced thriller sucked me right in and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. My anxiety was at an all time high, folks! With a multitude of unreliable narrators, you won't know who to believe or who you can trust. There was some predictability, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the story. I loved how it all played out in the end and the final cliffhanger made me laugh. I really enjoyed this thriller and highly recommend it!

Note to Mark Edwards: I have read all of your books, some multiple times, and have loved them all, but I miss the horror and creepiness that I didn't experience in your last two books!! Please bring it back!!

Thank you Mark Edwards, Amazon Publishing UK and NetGalley for allowing me free access to this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

3.5 stars

I'm glad Mr Edwards gives us a few minutes of calm at the beginning of the book, because after that it's pretty much non stop.
It was fast paced and never let you feel comfortable enough to relax with the characters, all of whom I suspected were up to something.
It steamrolls along right to the last page, and I read it in one sitting.
Very entertaining.

Keep Her Secret by Mark Edwards is another thrilling page-turner from this always reliable author who has become a very fast favourite.

After being apart for twenty years, Matthew and Helena have rekindled their college romance and are enjoying a trip to Iceland. Things take a dramatic turn, however, when Helena finds herself dangling precariously from a cliff. Terrified, she makes a confession that has Matthew questioning her shocking claim. But he is not the only one who has heard her admission, and back at home in England the life-altering moment will continue to plague the couple. Just how well do they really know each other after all?

This one had me gripped from beginning to end. I look forward to reading much more from this author.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing UK for an ARC.

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

I really wanted to like this book as it had a very intriguing premise and started off strong. However, it just was a miss for me, and I did not find any other characters to be redeemable or likable. It was also fairly predictable. I appreciate the opportunity but this was just not a favorite of mine.
