A thriller set in Hollywood glamor??? I love it! I could not put this novel down. I am obsessed and will be recommending to all of my friends, as well as purchasing a physical copy for my library.

I am getting tired of psychological thrillers and avoided reading this book. However, I read some reviews which mentioned that this is more of a crime thriller. So I picked this up and am glad that it is mostly a detective fiction. I liked the detectives (Kevin, Farah) and the desk-bound detective (Farah's daughter) who sifts through data mines to come up the connection. The multiple POVs (thankfully not in first person) kept be interested throughout.
Though the twists were not really surprising.
The ending did not fit my ideal ending of a detective fiction where all the culprits are punished. Hence taking away 1 *.
Wee -complaints
I was stumped by the usage of some words like 'Spendy'.
The detective mentions that her nieces are identical twins, and she is asked if they are boys or girls. Is 'niece' now gender-neutral?
I think there would come a time when everyone starts objecting to usage of gender -specific nouns/ pronouns.
Thanks to NetGalley, the Publisher and the Author for the ARC

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow that was a weird and wild ride. I enjoy Torre as a writer. Her books are captivating, remind me of a Criminal Minds episode and are quick reads. Different points of view, short chapters and dynamic characters are what drew me in to this book.
The twist was twisty for sure. I wish there was more to the ending and that the epilogue told us more. But alas this is a solid 4 in my book.

I didn’t feel like this was AR Torre. I’m usually gripped by the writing and the story, but this was not it for me. I didn’t like the way the chapters were titled and I had a hard time keeping everyone straight. I wasn’t invested in the story line or the characters. It fell flat for me

Going into this I knew that A.R.Torre wont disappoint and it didn't. Fulfilled all my expectations.
I loved d multiple povs and how it alternated between d povs. The twist at the end left me a bit confused but I really enjoyed itt. Def one of my fav books and a very unique plotline.
Def recommend! Actually anything by A.R.Torre, I highly recommend!
The only book I haven't read by her yet is Every last secret should get to that asap.

The writing - brilliant. The story - sucked me in from the very first page. As with previous Torre books it can be a bit of a minefield going in, multiple POVs and working out who’s who, but that did not deter me. It wasn’t long before I was sucked in, trying to work out the hows and the whys. A murder, or two, or three, or more, a motif?? Who to trust, who to believe. What a Rollercoaster ride. The characters, I think I fell in love with them all. This has got to be one of my favourite reads so far this year. I did not want to out it down, I begrudged everyone and everything that interrupted my reading. A book that I wanted to finish but never wanted to end. I received an advanced copy of this from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This book holds your attention the whole way through with an air of mystery and suspense maintained until the end. It's what I've come to enjoy most about A.R. Torre's thrillers. With multiple POVs to connect and interesting twists, this story gives the reader a lot to think about and piece together as they go along.

I loved this book almost as much as I enjoyed The Good lie. I want to say in all honesty last year's release is the only book I've disliked from this author, i enjoy her thrillers and dark/spicy books. Every last secret was wonderful as well. Yes, within this story there are twins so that in a way is predictable but still none the less doesn't take away from the thrill of it. Yet again short chapters which I LOVE. This is more of a mellow thrill.

Thank you Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for this speedy read. Fast pace was really nice done with the short chapters..
It wasa nice change from my loved psihologal thrillers to more crime procedures. I guess crims lovers would love this more. But as I said was a nice one and perfect for buddy reading detectives.
Part of the twist might be logical but there are some other things are more unique and keep you interested to the story.
The last think, that maybe not for all, the story is place in Holywood so.. for people who love Hollywodd setings also a must read.

4.5 Stars
The book starts with multiple POVs - the detective, the leading lady, the dad, the kid, et cetera. So we don't really know who we're rooting for yet - if there is anyone worth rooting for at all. This is all so very very mysterious and exciting and scary and did I say mysterious? We don't know what's what at all.
The also-famous but very troubled twin brother of a Hollywood superstar is found dead in the 'good' brother's guest house - with an unknown female - also dead.
Then we have a plumber in Wisconsin who's wife and son went on a trip to Disneyland. But he can't reach them on the phone and things seem weird on his wife's social media.
That's basically all we know for now - so ... kinda nothing really ....
I'm excited to see where Alessandra is taking us with this story.

Phew. I loved it!
It was a very mysterious and exciting thrillery thing.
We get lots of detecting with the cops and lots of other very interesting moments. And we just want to find out what's what!
I really enjoyed reading this and I really want to see this made into a movie.
Okay yeah - when you hear TWIN in the blurb... you just know that there will be a plot-twist or something. That's not s p o i l e r i n g anything, that's just common sense.
And you basically know how things will end all through the book. BUT I still really loved reading it. I also didn't mind the many POVs - which I usually do. They were all very short chapters and interesting scenes. I really enjoyed that. Every little chapter leaves you with even more questions.
The end could've been a bit more exciting or creative or something. But pffft - I liked reading this ... a lot!
► A FATAL AFFAIR was a really great Hollywood-Cop-Show-Mystery Thriller with a beatiful cover - READ IT!

Hugh and Trent Iverson are twins and well known actors. When Trent is found dead along with an unknown woman in the guest house of Hugh's Beverly Hills mansion, the police are called and an investigation looks into what happened to these two. Hugh and his fiancée, Nora, are questioned along with the staff. When the investigators dig deep, they discover quite a surprise!
A FATAL AFFAIR was unlike any other book I've read by A.R. Torre. I loved this police procedural novel. I enjoyed trying to figure out what was happening, as it took me on a wild ride. I did have some ideas as to what happened, but in the end, I only partially figured it out and the rest was a surprise. I really liked that the chapters were short, as it made it a quick read. If you are a crime solving lover like me, you will enjoy this book. Thank you, @itsallaboutbooksandmacarons for buddy reading this with me.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This review will be shared on my Instagram (@coffee.break.book.reviews) in the near future.

This book was stupid. It felt like a really bad episode of csi with the bad guys getting away because no one looked in the right direction.

A twisty tale with crazy reveals throughout, A Fatal Affair was a fun read and my first from the author. I really enjoyed the fast pace of the book and how it honestly felt like I was pulled along from one plot point to the next. If anything though this became the story's downfall as the plot felt too rushed at times. Between that and a bit of predictability, I knocked it down a star but I'll definitely be checking out more by Ms. Torre in the future.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the structure of the book, the short chapters and multiple POVs made it fly by. I loved getting the breadcrumbs and hints sprinkled throughout the whole story. I was immediately drawn into the Hollywood scandal. I will say I wasn’t surprised by much, I caught on to most of the twists immediately. The ending was a bit surprising, and wrapped up a little quickly.
Overall I loved the characters back stories and all of the perspectives in the story.

I’m not the first dead one. At the time that I’m writing this, there have been at least four of us killed.

This is not my first A R Torre and it certainly won’t be my last! I absolutely love this author; her books never fail to suck me in and keep me hooked until the very last page 💕
I love a “height of action” start in a thriller! The big event takes place on the very first page and then works the story back from there. It’s impossible not to get drawn in when a story is told this way, because I am immediately invested in the story after I read it.
I love a multi point of view story because then I get to see many sides to the same story, and put the pieces of the puzzle together myself. This had to perfect amount of characters so that it wasn’t confusing and I could keep track of who’s who.
The only thing I didn’t like about this book was that the “twist” is my least favourite reveal in thrillers 🤣👎🏻 but I enjoyed the book otherwise!

This was a very interesting story and it captures you from the start. It does get a bit muddled in between and slows down and there were un answered questions at the end.

An exciting ride with many twists and turns. None of the twists were super groundbreaking but still entertaining. Torre writes in a way that sucks you in and doesn’t let you go until the very end. Another enjoyable book by this author.

A Fatal Affair is a standalone psychological thriller/mystery by author A.R. Torre. I’ve read this author before and found this one to be my favorite so far. The story is told from multiple POV which bring together a complex and layered mystery that will keep you guessing right to the very end. This author knows how to write a sharp, shocking and heart-pounding thriller. I enjoyed the use of diary entries and newspaper articles which break up the narrative sections. I’ll be sure to keep an eye on this author and be reviewing their entire backlog. Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an arc of this book.

DNF @ 20%. No rating.
I have heard many amazing things about A. R. Torre’s thrillers, and have been intending to read her for years. But, 20% in and I’m sorry to say that I’m throwing in the towel and declaring that this author isn’t the right fit for me. The dialogue is cringe-worthy - some of the worst I’ve ever read - and no one in their right, or even wrong, mind would speak like these character’s do, nor would they act, react or behave like they have been so far given the seriousness of the situation - not even if it does turn out they are guilty of murder. I would like to include and then dissect some quotes, but am unable to since this hasn’t yet been released.
Furthermore, the police procedural are laughable. I can’t even! And I fear I have solved the mystery already, and given that other reviewers have said that this novel was predictable, I fear I am correct.
This is a popular author, so don’t take my word as gospel - be sure to read other reviews, both positive and negative before deciding if this is the right book for you. There was just so much I couldn’t overlook.
I’d like to thank Netgalley US, Thomas & Mercer, and A. R. Torre for the e-ARC.
Publication Date: 20th June, 2023.

A. R. Torre book recommendations are all over tic toc and I added a few to my list. I was really excited when I got the ARC for The Fatal Affair from Net Galley.
This was a quick and fun read. I could out it down and read it in a day. It was a little predictable and I wasn’t surprised by the ending but that happens with me now after reading a lot of thrillers.
If you love quick psychology thriller I would definitely recommend this book and I can’t wait to read the next Torre thriller that I downloaded on my kindle.
