Freya has a stalker and he knows so much about her. So why can't she figure out who it is?
As "Edward" continues to drop clues, Freya engages with him even though she knows she shouldn't. She's kept so much from the police, and even her husband, that even when she's ready to come clean she can't. Complicating things are some mental health issues in her past. Is she making things up or is her husband gaslighting her? Is someone in her house or is she just imaging it? Who can she trust?
While the writing was at times difficult to follow (the author jumps to different timeframes within and between chapters with no discernable transition and was at times stylistically all over the place) it was a good story with some tense pacing.
Thanks to NetGalley, Hidden Gems Book and the author for an advance reader's copy.
First, the cover so pretty, th synopsis nice so i click request. Second, Freya monolog jump from one to another, once she think about Kate and then share about her affair. There is no structure, i cant get engage. Third, I confuse, why police in this book blame everything to Freya? She have stalker? Blame her, she got hit and run? Blame her. Anyway its fun to read this story,
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

This just didn't work for me. I couldn't connect and just found it frustrating that the main character made such random and stupid decisions. It felt to forced and slow and I just couldn't get into it
I did not enjoy this book and found it a slog to finish. The story centers on a woman named Freya who has a stalker. For some reason she engages with the stalker and also thinks no one believes her, even though it seems like people do. You also get some chapters told from the POV of the stalker.
I can’t exactly put my finger on what didn’t work for me with regards to the writing style. The book was just boring even when the things that were happening should be interesting. Mundane things and big things were all meshed together and sometimes I couldn’t figure out what was going on at all. There were also a lot of characters and none of them were well developed. I didn’t connect with Freya and thought she made stupid decisions. I figured out who the villain was early though the exact circumstances brought some element of surprise.
Overall, this was not the book for me but I hope others will enjoy it more. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A stalker thriller! So my kinda read. And I was so excited to dive right into this. Unfortunately, the writing style was difficult for me and the pacing was way too slow.
Freya is still struggling with the death of her daughter when she finds the body of a missing woman. This gets her thinking about how her daughter’s death may have been a murder.
This book has a great premise and interesting characters. But, it was very slow, too slow for my kind of thriller. There were bread crumbs all over to lead you to the conclusion and I did figure it out rather early. My biggest pet peeve was the flow of some scenes. Very large events happened just dropped in chapters with no lead up. I was honestly confused a little at times. But, if you are a thriller fan, check it out!
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.
I ended up really liking this book! It started off a little bit slow, but once it picked up I was hooked and couldn’t stop!
1.75/5 stars! I was excited to read this thriller story with a stalker. The premise was intriguing and I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the story didn't deliver. The writing style was flat and the pacing was extremely slow. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters, so didn't even care about the ending of the book. Just a poorly constructed story.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
I was really hopeful for this one. It took me until about 20% in before I got a handle of what was going on. I was close to labeling this one as a DNF but stuck it out and wanted to give this book a chance. The book does pick up as it goes along but did not grip me like many thrillers do. No Good Lie
by Claire Stibbe
The darkest secrets hide in plain sight.
When Freya Thorne finds a woman’s body on the beach, she is swept back into the nightmare of the past. She knows the similarities to her daughter’s tragic death cannot be a coincidence, but nobody will believe her.
Letters arrive with chilling threats. This stalker knows more about Freya than any stranger could. Weird sounds disrupt her nights, and she knows someone’s been in her house. As the stalker draws Freya into a terrifying game, she uncovers more questions than answers. Her life is threatened, and she doesn’t know who to trust. Someone has been pulling her strings, and someone is determined she must suffer. Because Freya broke a promise. And promises aren’t meant to be broken.
This was a good read. A twisty domestic thriller with some very dark secrets that will have you reading to catch up to Freya's stalker. She made promises and they were broken. The stalker in the end was someone she knew.
What a great thriller wasn’t sure about it at first but definitely picked up when you get through a couple of chapters it will keep you on edge until the very end. Will be recommending this to anyone who loves a great thriller.
Freya Thorne is a troubled woman. She is grieving the loss of her only daughter when she finds the body of a missing woman while running on the beach. She then starts receiving strange messages and has someone stalking her. The tension keeps increasing as the stalker takes riskier steps. This book was very suspenseful, it really pulled you in as the story went on. The character of Freya was very interesting, you rooted for her even though she had flaws and secrets. The minor characters were not as interesting, we never really know that much about them but it is only a slight criticism since the story really centers on Freya and her stalker.
I highly recommend this book.
