"Bravery comes in many forms. Don't be afraid to be yourself."
This was such a beautiful read! I couldn't put it down! I only wish it had been longer but then again I think it worked perfectly as a short story. Two strangers who have never met start hearing each other's voices inside their heads. Both April and Beau are lonely workaholics who soon find a deep connection with the other, sharing their deepest secrets and feelings, without knowing who the other person is or what they look like.
A Missing Connection is out on March 7 - if you are willing to suspend belief and go into the story with an open mind you are in for a treat!
Thank you Dani McLean and Victory Editing NetGalley for the ARC!
3.5 Stars This was a really and easy to read novella about two lonely people who suddenly develop a telepathic connection. Beau is set to inherit his dying father’s empire and replace him as CEO, but he doesn’t want the future that was decided for him. April is sick of her mother trying to meddle in her love life and get her to settle down like her older siblings have. She wants love, but she is afraid of disappointing someone again. Beau and April suddenly develop a telepathic connection, speaking to each other in their minds. They agree to tell each other everything, except who they really are. Over a couple of months and many late night conversations, the two grow extremely close, but both are scared to take that final step and let the other see who they really are. Has it all been in their heads or is their connection real?
Again, this was a very quick and easy novella to read. If you are looking for a simple and sweet quick read, go for this one.
April is a data engineer who is wary of emotional attachments, loving - but buried in - her career. Beau is an executive at his father’s company, miserable at the thought of taking his place. They spot each other across the gap between their office buildings and are intrigued, and then on the subway, but don’t speak. And when they suddenly can telepathically converse with a strangers, they don’t realize they’ve been talking to the same attractive stranger in their heads for months.
This was a sweet bit of magical fluff. Neither April nor Beau is happy in their lives, but neither is motivated to break free of their funk, until weeks of intimate discussions with the voices in their heads makes them realize the life they’ve always wanted is within reach. It’s a clever idea, but at novella length, there’s not much beneath this cute light fantasy story.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🛀 packs a decent amount of spice for 128 pages, especially one telepathy phone sex scene

Beau Forrester and April Swan are lonely, left feeling unseen by those closest to them and the world around them. After seeing each other through a window and then again passing on a train, Beau and April suddenly find themselves able to speak to each other telepathically because, in Chance, anything is possible.
Without the pressure of being face to face and not knowing each other’s identities, Beau and April are free to be honest and open with each other, and the joking, late-night conversation and personal truths soon morph into a deep emotional attachment that only grows stronger the longer they communicate.
I enjoyed A Missing Connection; this new take on the unknown identity trope was delicious. I wish this book were longer so we could see in more detail how Beau and April's relationship unfolded, but either way, the story kept me hooked. The only issue I has this book was how sentimental it got towards the end. Tangled relationships straightening out with one conversation, it felt like I was being drowned in happiness and love, which, while making me sound unstable, is not something I really want. I’m an angst girl all the way.
If you're looking for a sweet, light-hearted and loving romance book with a little magical twist, look no further.
This was so much fun! I loved the connection the two of them shared as well as how it manifested. I understand why Beau might not want to meet April at first, but I feel like it did take a long time for them to finally meet. I loved how they both got to know one another first and didn't rely on looks. Sometimes the deepest connections can be formed and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and not just looks alone.
Thank you to Victory, Netgalley and Dani McLean for an early copy.

“I don’t need to see you to know every part of you is beautiful”
A Missing Connection was such a fun and cute little love story with an added twist of telepathy. This was such a quick and easy read and perfect if you just need something lighthearted. Our characters Beau and April were very cute and likeable and I really enjoyed their chemistry and banter. While I would have liked to have the whole telepathy ability flushed out more with the rules etc I also understand you are told to have some suspension of disbelief before you start reading which was easy enough to do and wasn’t something to dwell on too much. Overall very enjoyable and I do recommend. Make sure to check it out on the 7th of March!

This book was so stinking cute and the perfect little rom-com novella. I have adored all of Dani's Movie Magic stories, but I think A Missing Connection is officially my favorite. The moment Beau heard April in his head, I squealed with joy. I just knew this one was going to have me smiling from ear to ear.
These two were so delightful. The instant chemistry was perfect and I loved their flirtatious banter that started almost immediately. When April messes with him in a meeting, I was just rolling. Dani was able to pack a lot of emotion into just over a hundred pages too; these characters had some major hang-ups with starting relationships and their insecurities about their family lives. Watching them connect and build each other up was really heart-warming.
It should have only got one pepper for me due to my pepper "rules" but that tub scene was so hot I gave it an extra anyway. I think I would have loved a full length novel if for nothing else, more of Beau's dirty talk. He was spicyyyyyy.
The ending and epilogue were so great, I loved the little wrap up and hea that we got. I can't wait to read more from this series, every trip to Chance has been truly magical.
I’ve so enjoyed all the books in the Movie Magic series, but this one is easily my favourite. I’m always totally okay with having to suspend disbelief in romance novels, and I loved the Ghost vibes in this. It was such a sweet love story 🥰 As always, I am left bereft as I could have devoured this all the same as a full length novel 😭 Also, I could totally see this series as a Netflix series…
4/5 stars! Ok; I know this isn't relevant, but the characters on the cover look like Anastacia and Dimetri to me, which is the entire reason I picked up this book (haha). Fortunately for me, the book lived up to its charming cover. This was a quick read but it was sweet and I fell for both April and Beau.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
4 ⭐️ What would you do if you suddenly could hear some else’s voice in your head?
Beau is about to become the CEO of his father’s company –one of the most influential companies in all of Chance– and he’s dreading every second. He feels like he’s drowning in expectations and commitments that he never once agreed to, but have become his duty all the same. April loves her job more than she will ever love anyone, and for her that’s a fact. She’d tried to do the romance thing, the living with a man thing, the sitting down and talking about the whole “should we get married and have kids” thing… And it went so, so wrong. It’s just not for her. So instead she works, and she loves it.
But when one day Beau gets home after a long day to hear April’s voice inside his apartment -except not really because she’s not there and they can’t see each other- they both start to realize that maybe they’re not crazy, or hallucinating. Maybe there is someone real at the other end of their connection. A connection that, although uncalled for, keeps them both from their lonely, career focused lives. Separately, but together, they decide to not meet up or say each other’s last names, both refusing to put expectations or pressure into what this connection may mean.
I really enjoyed this novella. I felt like it was long enough to really get a sense of who the characters were individually, but not too long to feel like the meet up was dragged on much. Also, the fact that they fell in love without ever physically knowing what the other looks like is so cute. It feels very instalove-y, but I’m a big instalove fan, so there’s no complaints there.
Overall, I would definitely recommend picking up this lovely novella if you’re looking for a fluffy romance with a hint of spice, and a mind-bending meet cute.

Thank you Net Galley for the eARC!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC - an Australian ARC too!
A cute novella with a magical/whimsical touch. I loved the concept of being able to talk to someone through a mind connection - it was fun to read, and I enjoyed the exploits (making it hard to do a work meeting, commenting on a first date). I just wish this book had been longer! Both leads had emotional baggage that could have been unpacked more, and there could have been more ESP antics!
I think this novella built the chemistry and connection between the leads so well in such a short space of time. It was a nice hour of my life where I was swept up with the quirky charm, and I’d recommend this to a romance lover who enjoys a touch of whimsy.
When I read the description, it really reminded me one of my old comfort movies and it did not disappoint! This was such a short but cute novella with a hint of spice in there.
I was smiling the entire time and I could really see myself in the characters! It was such an easy read and I wish there was more of them!
The only thing that made it a 4 and not a 5 was it was a little repetitive. So whenever he was cute and flirt with her, her breathe hitched or “the words kissed her skin” and it was every time and it just got a little much.
But overall this was a really fun read. Thank you for netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange of my honest review
Thank you NetGalley and Dani McLean for an ACR of A Missing Connection coming out March 7th.

I’m A Missing Connection we have Beau and April who are both workaholics and missing love in their lives. They are able to telepathically communicate with each other through their lives and problems they may face. I thought it was a cute and fast novella. I enjoyed the characters and how they were able to develop with each other. It was a fast pace novella and kept me intrigued with how their connection worked.
This started out so good. I was completely pulled in by the story. Two people get to know each other without ever seeing each other. It was fun. I felt like a lot more in their lives could have been developed and at the same time thinking it was dragging on too long. This was an odd mix. I liked these two but didn't feel pulled in and invested.
Sex: Phone sex and lots of talk of sex.
Language: F words sprinkled in. A couple others.
A/Drugs- Some drinking.
Thanks to NetGalley for an early copy of this novella. Below is my honest review.
Beau is set to take over his fathers company but he doesn’t want it. Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t have a choice because his father is ill. All he wants is for someone to see Beau, not his fathers son.
April is a data analyst working long hours to officially get her foot in the door for her dream job while keeping her mothers desire for grandkids at bay.
Both Beau and April are incredible lonely.
One day, they start communicating telepathically. (Think rom com movie magic) They make a pact to share no identifying information while getting to know one another. Each finally has someone to share their day with, vent to, and trust. Will they ever meet in person?
This novella was cute take on the anonymous chatting trope. I liked the two MCs but wish we could have gotten to know some of the side characters better. I’d recommend to someone who wants a quick read and enjoys romance with a touch of movie magic.
Before starting, I want to thank NetGalley and the respective publisher for sending me this advanced reader copy.
The plot’s idea is definitely genius, but although Chance’s a city where everything is possible, I would’ve liked some development on why this telepathy thing happened between the two main characters. Why not with other people?
Something I really appreciate is that the story is quite fast-paced, without any unnecessary filling (which almost never happens).
To be completely honest, I haven’t thought about a book like this in a long time, but I do see this novel being brought to life cinematographically.
A short but sweet - and spicy - story of soulmates that were bound to be.
This was such a feel good novella with such a creative story. I really liked that it was a contemporary romance but it had that element of fantasy with the way they were able to communicate to one anther. I thought that the dual POV was a great way to really get to know each of the characters in a short period of time and therefore made the pacing of the story very realistic and easy to relate to. I liked how each character had their own problems to overcome and they both felt really real and well written with how they overcame it. Overall this was such an enjoyable book and I will definitely look for more books from Dani McLean again.
This was a short and sweet story about two lonely workaholics in the town of Chance who suddenly have the ability to communicate telepathically.
I was drawn to this initially because the characters on the cover look so much like Anastasia and Dmitri from my favorite animated classic, to be honest. But for a short story, this book was so heartfelt and fun to read. It reminded me of "Love is Blind" but better -- its incredible how much you can open up to another person through faceless conversations in the dark.
A big thank you to Dani McLean, Victory Editing Co-op, and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. A Missing Connection comes out March 7, 2023.
A Missing Connection is a a sweet and short story about two strangers who randomly start hearing each others voices in their heads. Beau is a man who has put his dreams to the side to take over his father's business. April is sick of being told to settle down and just wants to work at the job she loves. But what happens when the two realize that they might actually want to make a connection with each other even though they haven't met, will they be able to put aside their insecurities or are they doomed to stay alone. Honestly when I started this book it was kind of a weird concept when they first started hearing each other, but very soon it started to become very sweet. From the start you can tell that they are both very lonely, so it was heartwarming to see them both fill each others lives with joy. If you are looking for a quick and adorable read, A Missing Connection is the novella for you!
April and Beau can talk to each other telepathically. In the beginning of the book, we are reminded that it is a story, and it doesn't have to make sense. In this short novella, we see a sweet story between two workaholics who find each other in an unconventional way. The way they fall for each other is so endearing. April is a data analyst, who works way too much and has never had any luck with love. Beau is the son of one of the most famous men in Chance City, but he has always lacked human connection. You know what they say, opposites attract.
I am not really a fan of novellas in the reading form, but sign me up for a quick audiobook! However, reading this, I was quite surprised at how much I like it. This is definitely a good book to read if you are in a reading slump or just want something quick to read with a hint of spice. I will say, the spicy parts took me by surprise. I was not expecting them at all, but they were definitely welcomed and flowed nicely with the storyline.
With all the pressure that Beau has, he is such an amazing character. But he's almost too perfect. He has a hard family life, but he makes up for it in literally every other aspect. They don't make real men like him—at least not that I've ever met. April, on the other hand, worked hard to get where she was. Maybe it's because she studied data science like I am, or that her family can be a lot to handle like mine, but I relate to her a lot. She's funny and sarcastic but also really in touch with her feelings. I liked this book a lot, and I would recommend to anyone who is short on time, or wants a quick read!
