A sweet novella with an unexplained mind connection between a billionaire and a workaholic data analyst. Both trying to figure out where they fit and how to be themselves without their parents expectations.

It was a unique experience to say the least. I thought we'd get more spicy scenes especially once our mcs met. But I did love the get to know you aspect of it and the saucy factor of both enjoying themselves with the others present.

I'd read more by this author!

Thanks NetGalley :)

This was cute. I liked the writing style, and the evolution of both characters fit the story and the limited time this novella covered. I do feel like it was a little too "insta-lovey" for my liking, but being a novella the author didn't exactly have much time to cover and grow the relationship at a normal pace. Overall, I enjoyed the reading experience.

This was such a cute read! I really enjoyed this short little book - I felt like we got to know Beau and April so well despite how short this was. I'll definitely be reading more from Dani McLean!

I didn't realise this book would be a short Novella and was also part of a series, however I really enjoyed reading it.

It was a different type of story - with them being able to comunicate through each others minds, but I loved seeing it from both point of views and getting to understand the characters. I didn't find it creepy (I could understand why it is), but you go with it because it's romance.

It's such a fun and cute read!

4 stars

One of the most adorable stories I've read.
The way these two connect with each other was... magical!
I adored Beau and April.
Their lives were interesting and I was instantly invested both in the romance and their day to day lives.
I have soooo many bookmarks on this one because a lot of lines hit me and were so beautifully written they touched me.
Overall this was a wonderful read and I can't wait to read more of Dani McLean.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

It's a sweet romance story, with a quick pace and a premise that hooked you from the start, the characters are so well written that some things that the author added confused me a little bit because i felt like it wasn't necessary.

This book was different from others I have read and I really liked it! The fact that the main characters could communicate telepathically was so cool. Overall, this book was a nice and funny novel!

April and Beau made a beautiful couple. Loved them sm!

This was a really great novella with such an original premise - the closest thing I have to an issue is how quickly April and Beau accepted that they could hear each other's thoughts. but it was barely a problem because of how fast paced the story was.

I loved that they each helped each other with different personal issues before they came together and I'm looking forward to reading the other books set in Chance.

This is an usual storyline to explain without reading the book. Beau Aaron Forrester and April Swan, start to hear each other’s voices in their own heads. However, they have never met. So, theirs become a romance, played out solely telepathically, that is, they can hear each other talking. Beau is the sole heir to the Forrester empire whilst April Swan deciphering data with her mighty macros.
Soon their late-night conversations turn to intense fantasies about the other. Will they disturb their perfect relationship when they actually do meet?
A well written novella, as it packs a significant amount into fewer words, whilst getting across the intensity of the feelings shared by Beau and April. Some scenes were quite hilarious, whilst others quite intense in their shared chemistry. A great read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A Missing Connection ARC
Dani Mclean
Stars: 4/5
Spicy Level: 3/5

I got this book as an ARC from the publisher, and it was seriously the cutest thing ever. It’s a novella-length story following April and Beau, two lonely workaholics looking for what’s missing in their lives. One night the two become magically mind-linked. Suddenly able to hear each other talking, April and Beau begin to connect and develop a relationship.

The classic rom-com vibes in this story are next level. It was sweet and funny, and the characters were very relatable. I loved the idea behind this story of hearing your other half talking to you in your head. I’ve seen writing prompts about a similar concept, and I love how Mclean adapted the idea to use in her story. It’s so sweet that you get both of the characters POV’s as well as their mental conversations. I’m a sucker for dual POV, and the glimpses it gives you into everyone's thoughts and feelings. April and Beau are such interesting and complex characters. April is a badass woman in STEM, which I always appreciate. She’s a data analyst who is extremely passionate about her job. I also adore that April loves her work, and Beau wholeheartedly supports that enthusiasm and drive. Both the main characters challenge traditional gender norms and their families' expectations in order to be happy. They make each other better and braver.

My only real complaint is that some of the pacing feels skewed and that April and Beau stay away from each other longer than seems reasonable. Although they have baggage (who doesn’t?) it seems too little to keep them apart, and making excuses for as long as they do.

I appreciate that they communicate well and develop their relationship over time through honesty and in-depth discussion. It makes their characters and relationship more realistic even though the story itself is impossible. Nothing drives me crazier than the miscommunication trope, it just feels so young in an adult contemporary romance. So I really appreciated the healthy adult communication between Beau and April.

I’m not going to lie, I wanted more spicy scenes. April and Beau get intimate early on in the book, but those scenes don't continue consistently after the first time. If the sex scenes continued to develop parallel to their daily discussions, it would’ve added more layers of trust between April and Beau. The spicy scenes that did happen were very hot, so I have no complaints there. Being able to speak and hear each other's minds really takes phone sex to a whole new level.

So far, this story is one of my favorites this year. It’s a fast read and so much fun. There are several darling You’ve Got Mail tie-ins, and it just felt like watching all of my go-to romcoms. I definitely recommend this one!

I have been sharing quotes and pictures inspired by the story as I read. Tomorrow I plan on putting up an instagram post based on quotes and the overall aesthetic, with a short review included in the caption. My above review ill also be going up on Goodreads and Bookbub.

I believe this book was a very different concept. The whole hearing the voice in their head and having them fall in love with each other was just enough weird and different. I like how it wasn’t typical. I thought it was a very cute story and wanting me to know more about their story and What happens after.

A quick read with an interesting premise. I didn’t really enjoy the insta love trope but I guess it works for a novella. The writing was decent. Overall, it was an enjoyable book.

I was given an advanced reading copy (ARC) by netgalley in exchange for an honest review,

I truly enjoyed this book. In regard to the psychic connection, it was different, but I truly appreciated it. It dawned on April that she didn't need to be afraid of him because he would always be there for her. April was a good person and a family woman who was genuine but was hesitant to put herself out there.

Beau tried to be both the person he believed his father wanted and the person he wanted to be, and I just adored him for it.

She gave him the strength to be himself, which was crucial, and he found that courage in her. They were a pretty wonderful match and looked great together.

I liked how her mother also realised that April is her own person in the end.

A quick read, easy to consume in one sitting. A cute premise that could have been creepy but thankfully wasn’t. Easy good prose, decent pacing. The concept of the main conflict was a little weak so there wasn’t really much to β€œovercome” at the climax but overall a fun read.

A cute quick read. Mildly steamy romance scenes. The beginning was kind of a slog and I thought it might not work out for me but overall it was a fun read. Don’t let the slow beginning fool you. The writing was decent and the story worked.

I loved this novella! What an awesome idea for a romance story. Once I read the synopsis about the story of Beau and April being able to speak with each other telepathically, I knew I wanted to read this book. I love how they were able to get to know each other without ever seeing each other's faces! And at the end when they find out they've been circling each other all this time while not knowing, chef's kiss! Loved the telepathic spicy scenes too.πŸ‘πŸŒΆ I also really liked how the author wrote a little disclaimer about suspending expectations at the beginning of the book. it allows the reader to just relax into the story without asking too many questions.

April is quirky and shy; focused on her career in data analysis. She knows that she's lonely, but after being burnt by her last boyfriend, she doesn't want to open her heart up again.
Beau is the son of the CEO of a billion dollar company with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He craves what most people take for granted; a loving family and a partner to share life with.

One day, as if by fate, they realise that at random times they can hear when the other talks aloud. Thus starts a deep and intimate relationship with the only identifying information shared being their first names. With no knowledge of the others appearance, will truly knowing each other's hearts first lead to the love they've been looking for?

I really enjoyed this short story and found the concept and the way it was handled really interesting. To hear the spoken word rather than reading thoughts seemed more novel and definitely lead to some funny situations. I also like the fact that every word spoken was intentional rather than a thought that might slip in unwanted.

Both April and Beau's personalities were endearing in their own ways. I think when you're exposed to the raw truth of people's thoughts and emotions, it's impossible not to root for them and want them to succeed. I really enjoyed the journey that we got to take with both characters as they helped each other grow into the people they wanted to be.

I really enjoyed this novella, the concept was so fun. It's definitely all vibes because it's not explained how this manages to happen but there is a nice preface that says that anything can happen so just lean into it. This was just so cute, I wish it was a full size novel because I just needed more of them. I absolutely adore books where the characters communicate through other means but don't know each other in real life.

This was a lighthearted novella, exactly what I was looking for. It’s dual POV. It was very well written with character development. Both characters are more a like than they think and looking for the same things, but haven’t found it. I really enjoyed the characters chemistry and wished there had been more.
This story is about fighting for what you want and not letting others, especially family, dictate what you should be or do.
