I’ll start with the book’s strengths… The interactive elements were a really fun way to demonstrate the concept of “oops!”, while the illustrations were clean, bright colors and used the space well. However, there is literally no story here. I know it’s written for little bits, but it didn’t have any cohesion from one set of pages to the next. We went from eggs to toothpaste to birds in a tree. There are other books that do the interactive element better, even for toddlers, while having a sense of storytelling.
This is a wonderful interactive book that gets kids engaged with the book and reading, and will get them up and moving.
Perfect book for curious kids that shows how actions can have different effects. Love the message of accidents happen and it’s okay! Plus, what kid doesn’t love saying Oops!
Thank you to NetGalley and Orca Books for this advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.
This book is a lot of fun. It’s interactive and would be great with preschooler age kids either at home or for a circle time read. I really like how it shows cause and effect for kids to learn. The ending does seem a little abrupt. I wish it would have more a definite ending of the book deciding to not touch or drop so no other mess is made.
Love the bright colors and fun illustrations! Perfect for little kids and to show that accidents happen and are okay! Love the message
When my children were young, I would always let them help in the kitchen. Yes, it was always a mess but also so much fun! This book was a delightful reminder of that time. This is a great book for kids but also a lovely reminder to adults to enjoy the fun that can arise from so many situations. Thanks #NetGalley OrcaBookPublishers

My kids and I absolutely love these types of books that are interactive. This one is so stellar and does a wonderful job finding different creative ways on each page to interact with children. Such as pretending to squeeze a tooth paste to pretending to paint with the fingers. It gets a little carried away and the next page OOPS we made a mess. It was a lot of fun to read. Great job to the author!
The illustration as super fantastic, creative, and colorful. Lots of kudos to the illustrator for bringing this story to life.
I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends with young kids and I will be looking for this one as a gift for baby showers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Orca Books for this advanced reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.
I will be posting my review to my Instagram page the.littlest.bookworm and retail sites close or on publication date.
Such a cute, interactive and playful book! My students will love reading and interacting with this book!
Oops! by Julie Massy was adorable and shows how actions can have different effects. This was a cute book that young children would enjoy with their parents, highly recommend it for libraries and parents.
This was absolutely adorable! I have a 19 month old and a 3.5 year old, and they totally loved this!! Such cute illustrations, but also a good message to send those curious little ones.
An adorable interactive picture book for kids age 3-5! This is a fun read and a great introduction to the concept of cause and effect with kids love to start exploring at this age. Kids will enjoy the interactive element and shouting “oops!” Over and over again! The illustrations are bright and vibrant and kids will have a blast with this story.
Oops is a funny little book of giving into those intrusive thoughts. Tip over the cereal! Wake up the cat! See what happens! The illustrations are very cute, and I think there is something to be said for trying new things and seeing what happens without fearing punishment. However, I don't think parents will necessarily appreciate this message. as they try to guide their children's behavior.
This is a sweet interactive book that youngsters will love. Little ones will discover what happens when you tap an egg too hard, shake a box of cereal with the lid open, drop a mug full of coco, or shout really loudly beside a kitten asleep in a basket, just to name a few? Oops!
Playful scenarios give children an opportunity to explore cause and effect situations where they usually would be asked to be careful. They are asked to clap, shake and imagine a silly world of before-and-afters. They will love it.
The illustrations are bright and colourful. They show the messy, silly and surprising results of the reader's interactions with the book. Pascale Bonenfont is also the author/illustrator of Play with Jay! and Fun and Games for Little Readers. I highly recommend this fun, engaging book.
My son (age 6) and I really enjoyed reading this book together. He laughed loudly at every "oops" and then thought of some of his own. Beautiful illustrations were enhanced by this silly concept. We read it twice laughing at everything that went "oops". Thank you to Orca Book Publishers and Netgalley for the ARC of this book.
Cute interactive book similar to press here and others like that. My daughter loved it since it starts was ice cream. Learning that mistakes are okay.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC
Oops! is a cute picture book about the consequences of small actions, like blowing bubbles in a bathtub or spilling a bowl of spaghetti. This is a great way for toddlers to interact with a text while learning about what happens when you do something specific. The illustrations are cute and simple and there are just enough words to keep a toddler interested. My 2.5 year old son LOVED it (sound effects included).
In this fun and interactive title, we find out what happens if you tap an egg too hard. Oops. It broke! And that's not the only "oops" that happens in this book! Find out more by reading in it's pages. "Oops" is sure to leave some giggles in it's midst.
Kids always want to see what will happen when they push the limits, from dropping egg or yelling at a cat. In this book, readers will get to that and more! It is a silly read that will have both kids and adults laughing through each page.
