The Heiress Bride by Madeline Hunter is book #3 in A Duke's Heiress series. This was a fun read. I like how the overarching mystery is solved. I liked the characters too. This was a fun read.

Interesting book. I liked the plot twist, the mystery and of course the romance. I like how direct and forthright the dialogues are.

Sometimes in historical romance books the love scenes would ramble and ramble quoting flowers and nature and make it so silly. This books love scenes were more realistic.

I did feel like reading the prequel would have been better but this seemed like a standalone and I was detracted by backstory. Overall it was a good one.

The last in the series and I think the best because we finally find out who killed the Duke!
As we have seen from the previous 2 books, Nicholas is now rather Duke and hasn't quite accepted that fact.
The previous Duke has left money to 3 women, and we have been waiting for the 3rd to show up. Iris Barrington arrives at the Duke's home, not because she knows she is the 3rd heiress, but because she is looking for an old book that she believes he has.
I think the fact that Iris is an antiquarian book seller and a very knowledgeable one at that makes this book particularly fascinating for me.
There are many secrets to be learned and all the characters from the previous books come together to solve all the mysteries. A perfect final book for the trilogy, although I would like a standalone for the woman Nicholas does not marry.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC that I happily read and reviewed.

This book was a wonderful end to the trilogy. Madeline Hunter was able to give us three unique and complete stories in her trilogy and this one was just as enjoyable as the others. With surprises and twists that keep you guess, but love and devotion that keeps you coming back for more.

Interesting characters and well written particularly when describing the book or antiquities trading business. Enjoyable for historical romance fans and the secondary characters were depicted in enough detail to make the reader want to read the other books in the series.

Iris Barrington is an independent woman. She has to be, she's alone in the world and must support herself. Trained as a rare book dealer, she travels the world and seeking rare treasures for her clients. She approached the last duke to search through his library... and learns later that he has bequeathed a substantial amount on her. The new Duke of Hollinburgh, Nicholas Radnor is curious about why his uncle would have given a stranger so much money. She is suspicious, flamboyant, independent and captivating. Definitely worth a second look, and an investigation...

Why I started this book: Enjoyed Hunter's stories before, so I eagerly requested an ARC from Netgalley.

Why I finished it: Satisfying love story with plenty of family machinations, and mystery to keep the pages turning.

I read the first two installments in The Duke's Heiress Series, so I was eager to finally read Nicholas' story. This novel answered most of the questions that still lingered while also introducing new characters and revisiting favorite from the first two books.
What worked:
1. Iris Barrington is the third heiress and probably my favorite. She is funny, somewhat scandalous at times, and determined. Het grandfather's name was ruined long ago and she looks to clear it while she waits for the inheritance from Nicholas' uncle. I liked the way she was unafraid of Nicholas' family and never tried to change to fit the mold of a "proper" woman of the time period. Some of the ideas she introduced to the other heiresses were hilarious and her forthrightness was refreshing.
2. Nicholas Radnor is somewhat old-fashioned in his beliefs and his expectations. While he inherited the dukedom, he did not get much money to run the estate. I liked the banter and tension between Nicholas and Iris. He was immediately drawn to her despite the fact that she wasn't a "suitable" choice.
3. The side characters - especially the heiresses from the other two books. I also enjoyed the aunts, uncles, and heroes from the other books.
4. The mystery - most questions were answered. The ending definitely surprised me and I liked the way she tied up all the loose ends. I would have preferred ,more of a comeuppance for the guilty parties, but at least they were punished.
5. Bridget the bookstore owner and King Arthur the cat were hilarious side characters.
6. I liked Iris' profession of dealing rare books. All three heiresses' had interesting professions and this definitely made them more intriguing.

What didn't:
1. There were a few things that were still unclear in at the end of the book. I'm not exactly sure what happened with Atkinson.
2. Jeremy's overprotectiveness of Minerva was a little annoying. While I liked him in both the first and second books, I preferred Kevin and Rosamund in this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book in Ms. Hunter’s trilogy. I suggest reading the books in order as there’s a mystery that runs through all three books. Nicholas has inherited a dukedom from his eccentric uncle but hasn’t inherited any of the uncle’s personal wealth which is needed to maintain the properties and lifestyle of a duke and his extended family. Instead, the uncle has left a legacy to three young women.

Iris is a confident, intelligent, sophisticated woman who makes her living as an intermediary in the rare book selling/buying profession. She was born in Florence, lived on the continent and has been on her own since she was a young woman. Nicholas and Iris are immediately attracted to each other not only physically but there is also mutual admiration.

The supporting characters, Nicholas’ two cousins, their wives (from book 1 & 2), Iris’s landlady and her cat, were well written. The story included characters which were interesting and had distinct personalities. I will be reading books 1 & 2 again!

My only complaint was that in the book’s beginning, I couldn’t understand the lack of curiosity by both main characters about the legacy: Why Iris? The uncle only met her once. But be patient, all will be revealed!

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC.

Good end to story. Plenty of surprises as the series ends. Does stand alone. The romance is slow building fitting the two main characters.

Perfectly satisfying regency romance about an heiress, a rogue, and their adventures leading to love. Madeline Hunter succeeds her again in delivering a sweetly endearing romance.

Thank you Kensington Books/Zebra and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC.

I love historical romances where the heroine has a "unique" career, love to see *fictional* women have agency over what to do in their lives! Overall, this was an enjoyable read, At times it was difficult to get through, however, since I am more of a romance./chemistry kind of person when it comes to historical romances. The mystery was intriguing enough, I suppose, but I was not as engaged as I hoped to be.

Madeline Hunter is an auto buy from me. She is one of the historical authors I read and fell in love with both her writing and the genre, The Seducer series is one of my all time favorites!
This is the last in the Duke's Heiress Series, Nicholas is dreamy and Iris is feisty.
Nick needs money, Iris wants a promise to be kept. Together murder, broken promises and old lies all thrown in together will attraction added.
Hunter knows how to write friends or brothers really well. The scenes together in every book are always my favorites with, the Heiress' series being no exception. She write these relationships better than anyone, and I LOVE it.
Great story, great characters, great buy!!

I love Madeline Hunter! Her books always manage to put a smile on my face. This one was no different. With the end of this trilogy, we finally get the answer of who killed the uncle. That was wrapped up nicely. I really enjoyed the hero & heroine. I loved that he was finding his way as the new Duke & I loved that she was a bookseller. I thought they complemented each other well. This was a great series.

This was sweet and I enjoyed reading the series as a whole. I enjoyed her strong personality and the characters were written well. I suppose it was a bit predictable but in all the story had me captivated.

Our library doesn’t buy paperback books but we accept donations of paperback books. This is one that I would pickup and buy for myself. Story is about a young woman who buys and sells books as a living. She has traveled the continent in her dealings. All of her family is deceased. She has a particular book she is looking for in that brought her to England and while she is there she meets a Duke. The intrigue of the things happening around the Duke Nicolas Radnor and Iris Barrington keeps you reading. I would recommend this book to others.

This book is part of a series but can definitely be read as a stand alone book. There is a mystery afoot about a book and Iris is trying to solve it with the help of Nicholas. Both have feelings for each other but know it would never work out.

I enjoyed this story. The pacing and storyline kept me engaged. Very near the beginning it became clear this was the third of a trilogy; the backstory of the other two couples was quickly sketched in, and all the lesser characters were given just enough details to make them easily remembered when they reappeared throughout the story.

There are several interesting plotlines neatly woven throughout the story, such as: why was this lady chosen (along with two others) to inherit? Was the late Duke’s death, in fact, not an accident? What is the truth behind the heroine’s father’s ruined reputation? And where, oh where is that Psalter?

I don’t generally seek out Regency romances as they are often over-stuffed with tired tropes / speech patterns / wardrobe details; none of those were a problem in this book. And I’m going to go back and read the first two of this trilogy.

Ms. Hunter pens a historical romance with intrigue, emotions and steamy scenes.
Iris Barrington, a book expert, shows up on Duke Nicholas Radnor’s door, unaware that the duke has been looking for her.
After initialing clashing, they make a deal, she’ll evaluate his books and he’ll look for the one she has asked for.
Sparks fly between the pair, and there is something evil going on. He knows of murder in the family history, but not enough, and when there are several close calls when they’re together, he believes someone is after her.
They turn into an investigative team to figure out just what is happening and grow extremely close.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, intrigue, family and sensual scenes.

Madeline Hunter closes out her latest series, A Duke’s Heiress, with #TheHeiressBride. This story focuses on the new Duke of Hollinburgh, Nicholas Radnor, and Iris Barrington, a bookseller, who is the third of three mysterious heiresses named in the will of the current duke’s late Uncle Frederick .

Unaware of her good fortune, Iris approaches Nicholas, seeking his permission to search his library for a rare book she is hoping to find. She had previously approached his uncle who had agreed to her request. What she doesn’t share with Nicholas is that she’s interested in this book because she hopes finding it will clear her late grandfather’s name. Also a bookseller, he had to flee England for Europe after being accused of theft.

While solicitors take steps to confirm that Iris is actually the correct recipient of the bequest from Nicholas’ uncle, Nicholas has Iris review his libraries to see if there is anything valuable the could be sold. Nicholas’ inheritance is long on land and short on cash and his family is urging him to find an appropriate heiress/debutante to marry. The more time Nicholas spends with Iris, however, the more he is interested in her. Soon potentially fatal accidents start to occur when Nicholas and Iris are together, and it becomes apparent that at least one of them is being targeted.

There is much to enjoy in this final book in this series: wonderful MCs, Hunter’s trademark humor, appearances by the two heiresses introduced in the earlier books (and their spouses who are Nicholas’ cousins), and an answer to the question that ran throughout the series as to how the previous duke, Uncle Frederick, died, and why. Hunter never disappoints and this is a wrap up to the series!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks for the ARC!

This is the third book in the Duke’s Heiress series and I chose it because I remember reading and enjoying her Seducer’s Series back in the early 2000’s. This story is fun because Iris is a book dealer and I loved hearing about the books she found and sold. Nicholas, the Duke of Hollinburgh, inherited his title when his eccentric uncle died but he didn’t inherit much wealth so he is trying to figure out how to maintain his properties. His uncle left his money to three young women. I did not read the stories of the other two women that are married to Nicholas’ two cousins and while this book stood well by itself, I probably would have been more familiar with the characters if I had read their books first.

Iris is the third woman to receive an inheritance and there is a mystery as to why the uncle chose to leave it to her. There is also a mystery of a valuable book that disappeared that her grandfather was accused of stealing. The duke is attracted to Iris and hires her to catalog his books, which gave them a chance to get to know each other. It also gives Iris the opportunity to look for the missing book that she believes is part of his collection. I also liked Bridget, Iris’ partner at the bookshop and her feisty cat, King Arthur.

This was a slow burn romance and I wondered how it would all come together. I hoped to see a little more of Nicholas and Iris once they were a couple but enjoyed the story, especially the mysteries. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for this advanced copy.
