What a great story! This family continues to grow, and you can see how the author is so sad to leave them behind. Great conclusion and interesting plot!
I really enjoyed this story, and found all the characters very likeable. They each had their own issues due to past events, but were still decent people, and it was nice to see how they dealt with their problems, and how it wasn’t this instant Hollywood fix. I wasn’t keen on the graphic sex scene, as it didn’t really fit with the feel of the book overall, which was more of a sweet emotional romance, rather than a bodice ripper, but there’s only one so the reader could skip it without missing anything important, so as to keep the flow of the book.
this book was so enjoyable! it was one of those i randomly found when scrolling through the netgalley catalogue and now i’ve found a new author i like!
this story is single parent with a twist and although it is mostly light-hearted, it does cover some tough topics. i found the story really unique and realistic, almost a refreshing take on the nanny x single dad trope.
i’ll definitely be reading more from this author!!
This book set the stage for a grumpy sunshine love story. Amy and Noah seemed to have chemistry right away but it’s more of a slow burn. I found this book easy to read just missing some more plot building. I will mention that it does talk about grief and losing someone close to you so be aware of that going into it. Even though it does state this book to be romantic comedy I felt that there wasn't much comedy and more just on the serious side. I do think the plot and execution of characters personality could have been better.
After a career in journalism, namely beauty journalism Amy has decided that now is the time to retrain and has just had her acceptance details for university to train as a teacher. A call from her best friend Veronica has her easter to share the good news, however, this is put on hold when she is needed to help one of the Pierce Brothers - Noah. His best friend has just died from COVID and left with guardianship of her seven month old daughter Amelia. tasked with becoming his semi-live-in nanny to help him look after Amelia whilst he attempts to find her dad.
Noah’s friendship with Beth spanned back until their teenage years. They had been friends, bandmates and that constant person in each other’s lives through the loss of his mom and failed relationships. Whilst he knew that he’d agreed to be Amelia’s guardian alongside her parents, it was one of those worst case scenarios, neither one of them thinking that it would ever be needed. Her parents are away and have health issues to deal with, so Noah is left caring for the baby but completely out of his depth.
The arrival of Amay helps Noah gain a routine of his new life. finding out that Beth’s parents are able to care for Amelia makes his search for the unknown dad more important as he doesn’t feel he can do this long term. Growing close, Amy attempts to bring Noah’s forgotten talents back out there and they fall into a relationship behind closed doors. But as Amelia gets sick whilst they are out Noah realises for certain that Amelia is better off with someone else. This triggers unresolved issues from Amy’s past and she has to put space between them in order to deal with things. Are they able to come back from this?
This book was not what I expected. They say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, but I think it plays an important part in romance books. This story was a lot darker than I intended and did not have the “laugh out loud” moments I expected.
To start, this is the first book in the series I’ve read, and it’s book 4. This book can be read as a standalone.
This novel is about a man Noah who’s best friend passed away and leaves guardianship of her little girl Amelia to him ( because her parents are unable to take her in). This causes the workaholic Noah to hire a nanny suggested by his brother and his brothers wife. Amy and Noah seemed to have chemistry right away but it’s more of a slow burn for anything to happen between them.
I’m giving it 2 stars because I did read all of it, the writing wasn’t bad just decisions made made me hate the MMC a little bit, even thought the author tried to play it off, it didn’t really help.
Plus a reoccurring thing that happened in this book was the MMC acting like he couldn’t bond with Amelia cause he’s not the dad and then when anything happens brings that same thing up like it makes up for everything. It’s a baby…. And being a new mom myself I could never imagine me dying and leaving my baby to my best friend and then them trying to legit give my baby to ANYONE as long as they have a blood tie cause they’re not the father… even though he agreed to it. what a stupid concept and made me really dislike this book.
But if you don’t mind people not being able to love children that aren’t theirs as their own ( the man even freaked out when called dada)this is the book for you.
3/5 stars! I didn't set my sights that high after seeing this cover. The cover is really immature, but the premise is not for a YA so I was concerned. This book set the stage for a grumpy sunshine love story. It was moderately successful. I did like Noah and Amy and their chemistry was believable. But the story felt a bit simple. It was an average read that some readers may really like.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Noah prefer numbers to people. He becomes the sole guardian of a baby girl after his best friend passed away and no one knows who the baby's father is. Amy becomes his live-in nanny and they fall for each other.
I like Noah and Amy together. The romance is terrific. I love how they spark together. There are some humour in the book but it's more of a romance than rom-com. I haven't read any of the other books in this series but have no problem following it. An enjoyable romance overall.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
Thank you to Netgally for providing this E-ARC! The book comes out this month on February 20th:)
So Noah suddenly becomes the main guardian of Amelia after his close friend passes away and he doesn't know what to do he has no clue, so with the help of his brother Seth and Victoria they recommend Amy (Victorias friend) who becomes the nanny for baby Amelia.
"He knew from experience that it wasn't something that could be soothed away. It might grow less painful with time, but it was always there" I think anyone who has lost something close to them whether that be a parent, friend, sibling etc can somewhat relate to this quote, I know I did:).
I found this book easy to read and follow. It does talk about grief and losing someone close to you (past & present). Even though it does state this book to be romantic comedy I felt that there wasn't much comedy but more heavier topics involved. I also wish it was a bit longer due to the ending feeling as though it was a bit rushed but regardless I did enjoy the book and cant wait to read more from Belinda Williams.
Thank you to NetGalley and Belinda Williams for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.
I have not read the other Pierce brother books in the series but was drawn to this book because I love a nanny trope, it's one of my favorites. I was drawn in because the synopsis sounded like a fun rom-com with a lower billionaire thrust with a baby unexpectedly and then falling for his nanny. However I feel that the synopsis of this book was grossly misleading to the main story of the book. There was no mention of the heavier topics in this book at all from that synopsis. I was expected a light hearted romantic comedy and instead I read a very emotional book with heavy themes.
The books focused a lot on the concept of both past/unresolved grief and then compounding that into new grief in the case of Noah. I felt that the main development with Noah was his ability to overcome and deal with his grief and unresolved feelings he has had. He had a lot of unresolved issues and also self worth/self image issues that he was able to grow through and overcome. But, as I mentioned before there was no mention of this theme at all in the synopsis of this book. Additionally, there was a lot of focusing on loss, whether that be a parent, a friend, or a child.
While I thought that this was a beautiful story and I did enjoy it, it was very much misrepresented as a category that it is not. I did not find this to be that much of a comedy in general, yes there was some good banter back and forth but it was minuscule in comparison to those heavier topics I mentioned earlier. Additionally, I think that the ending was very rushed and fell flat for me. The three main plot points of the book were the unexpected guardianship of a baby, searching for the baby's father and a love story and in the end they all kind of just fell flat.
Overall, the story of this book was good, the character development was good, but because of the negatives I have listed above I would rate this book three stars.
-I will be posting my review on Goodreads immediately.
-I will be posting my review on Amazon on release day.
The cover is a major negative for me. The art style is incredibly off-putting. That said the book itself is decent since a good nanny trope is always fun to read and the writing style is fairly smooth.
The book is less a nanny trope romcom and more of an intstalove trope, mystery story (trying to find who the father of the baby is), and "I can fix him" (wherein Amy forcefully makes it her life's mission to fix Noah.
It all felt rushed and fell very flat for me, there could've been so much more done with the story but it being ~250 pages kind of suffocated it before it had the chance to do any of that. It was still a pretty decent read and it was so quick that it's perfect for an in-between read or a travel read.
2.75 Stars
This is the 4th book of Pierce Brothers series, it can be read as stand alone. My first in this series and this book is good.
Noah suddenly become guardian after his bestfriend pass away, he panic dont know how to take care 7 month baby. Victoria and Seth (from the 3rd books, One in Billion), recomend Amy as a nany. First meeting there is spark between Noah and Amy, Noah grumpy and strict cant communicate without sound like snap somehow Amy understand him, can read his mean and vibe. Noah decision really trigger Amy fear. Its make both of them miserable. I enjoy this reading.
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

Noah is a perpetual bachelor and workaholic until he suddenly becomes the guardian to his best friend’s infant daughter after she passes away. Noah needs help with Amelia and reaches out to his brother Seth and his wife Victoria. Victoria suggests her friend Amy who’s looking for a nanny job while she goes back to school to be a teacher. Noah only expected to receive help with Amelia but in return he found what his life was missing and it’s Amy. However, she’s the nanny and Noah adds that to the list of reasons why he keeps people at arms length. Can Amy break through his barriers or will her own keep her at bay?
This is a slow, tentative burn romance between Noah and Amy. Both have had traumas in their lives that kept them guarded but they gravitate towards each other, drawn in by an understanding and acceptance they crave. While they are very different, they are also very similar and want nothing but the best for the other sometimes knowing what the other needed before they realize it.
Cry Baby is the fourth book in the Pierce Brothers series by @belindawilliamsbooks and each book is a stand-alone but are much better read in order because of family dynamics. Each book reads super quickly and easily enjoyable.
Thank you @belindawilliamsbooks and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
