A very nice instruction filled book about how to draw Disney's magical characters. I really enjoyed this book and the drawings that I accomplished with it's help.

Nice how to draw book that my students enjoy using when they finish their artwork and have some down time.

Yeah no I can’t draw Disney characters. It’s not the books fault. It had very easy to follow instructions I just am not artistically inclined. If you have even an ounce, you will be able to get a decent drawing going.

I Can Draw Disney: Magical Characters - Draw Mushu, Tinker Bell, Chip, and other cute Disney characters is a cute drawing book for Disney fans, but not necessarily for beginners. The instructions leave a lot of steps out, taking big leaps from basic lines to the finished picture. Children trying this book might get pretty frustrated, especially from the last step to colored picture. The book does include an introduction to tools and materials, but goes almost immediately to the instruction.

The following are the characters that budding artists can learn to draw.

Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey
Pinocchio
Jaq & Gus
Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather
The Cheshire Cat
Tinkerbell
Mrs. Potts and Chip
Mushu
Olaf

I tried my hand at a few of these and I was surprised at how much Olaf looked like Olaf. That being said, many of these characters required a delicate hand and would be difficult for many to grasp. I Can Draw Disney: Magical Characters would be a good book as a gift, but might sit on the shelves of many recipients.

Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy by NetGalley and the publisher. The decision to read, draw, and review this book was entirely my own.

I’m not sure that I would consider myself a ‘Disney Adult’, but I definitely enjoy Disney and their off-shoots. I Can Draw Disney: Magical Characters was a cute how to draw book that included lots of the classic and favorite Disney characters. The steps were easy to follow, even for me, who has little to no artistic skill. A great beginner, how to draw book!

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
The book only shows the most basic of lines and information for drawing the different characters. As an ebook, this book does not work, unless you already have skill with drawing. If you had the book as a physical book, then you could trace the lines and it would work then.

It was really fun for the kids (and me!) to follow but some of them were (obviously) a little complicated at times.

Thank you to Netgalley for an unbiased review.

I really enjoy the Disney drawing books, as they are a great opportunity to practice my sketching skills while drawing my favorite characters. This is very similar to the others - Disney characters are introduced in 6 steps, with a few fun facts about each character.

I drew a few of them and my results came out fairly well; however, I will say that since this book is marketed at young children, I do not think this would be easy for small children. In fact, I think it may be quite frustrating, because the added details in each new step can be pretty overwhelming - even for an adult. With patience and practice, one can definitely get through the sketch, but it can take over an hour and may be too much for little ones.

I would also critique the fact that this book recycles images from previous Disney how-to-draw books. I found 7 of the 9 characters in books I already owned - the Cheshire Cat, Pinocchio, and Tinker Bell are featured in the Classical Animated Movies book and Jaq and Gus, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, Mrs. Potts and Chip, and Mushu are all in the Favorite Princesses book. So 78% of this book is just recycled material from books that I personally think are better. The instructions are in no way changed, nor is the image modified, so this book really only brings two new characters and it's up to buyers to decide whether or not they want to shell out money just for these. I would really like this book better if it had new characters, or old characters in new poses (for example, as they did with Magician Mickey).

Overall, I would give this book 3/5 stars because it is still a fun book and I wouldn't NOT recommend it - I would just recommend other existing books over it.

Cute, loved drawing with my kids. I downloaded the digital book to my phone, then screencast to my TV, so we could all see and make it a family event.

I got this for my 8 year old who loves Disney and drawing. She has really enjoyed working through this book and trying out the ideas and drawing the characters. It was well throughout and put together. Recommend

"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Although the directions and examples given with this book were easy to follow, I managed to butcher the ones I did. It was not the books fault, it was 100% my non talents.

Fun and great for people who love to draw

This is a fun Disney drawing book. The lines were difficult for my younger 2 kids (ages 6 and 8) to follow but my older 2 (ages 9 and 11) had an easier time. I wouldn't say this is for beginners unless they're older. It was still fun to try drawing and I loved all the fun little facts sprinkled in! The characters were from all sorts of Disney movies and my kids loved chatting about which ones they knew.

Thank you Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for my review e-copy!

A little disappointed
I love to draw and was very attract to this book even if it seems to be more a children book. However it's not very detailed and therefore accessible.
Disney characters are so beautiful maybe not everyone can draw them !

This is a great tutorial book on how to draw various Disney characters. Not really a step by step manual but clear nonetheless. I felt it seemed geared more toward advanced artists but would be fun for a beginner to try.

With characters ranging from Mickey Mouse to Tinker Bell and Olaf, there are plenty of characters for children to have so much from drawing. This book is colorful with lots of great tips and tricks for aspiring artists.

Easy to follow instructions that allowed me to create some vaguely accurate drawings (my fault they aren't very good, not the instructions'). There isn't a HUGE selection of characters to draw, but it's a decent start and would be a good choice for any children wanting to learn how to draw these characters.
