King of wrath

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of King of Wrath!

From first glance at the cover I thought this was a fantasy novel, which it is not! Had a I read the description more thoroughly I would have known that, but it’s a romance novel which I enjoy.

This is my first book by the author, and I plan on reading their Twisted series next. King of Wrath is a quicker read, there aren’t too many complex parts to it (that’s not a bad thing!).

I do think the storyline and characters could have been more original. I have read multiple books just like it and I have enjoyed them all, just like this one. I liked this book so it gets a solid three stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley, Ana Huang and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for an arc of King of Wrath in exchange for an honest review. This review is wholly my own & may not be reproduced.

I already love Ana Huang (thank you to the Twisted Series), so I was so excited to get an arc of book one in the new Kings of Sin Series! Give me all the smut!

This is a fabulous enemies to lovers novel featuring Billionaire Dante who is blackmailed into marrying his enemy’s daughter and jewelry heiress, Vivian. As you can imagine, neither are happy with the arrangement and refuse to even be civil to one another……………until that changes. You knew that was coming, right?

Wowza!!! Smoking hot characters, smoking hot writing – the whole thing is just SMOKING HOT!!!! Be read to jump in a cold shower or have something or someone nearby to “have a book discussion.”

I really don’t know what else to say that I haven’t said in all my other review of Ana Huang. She is an amazing talent especially in her specific field.

The characters were well-written, pacing was on point and the story plays out in such a way that you will wish you were Vivian.

4.5/5 Stars – Rounded up to 5

If you like Ana Huang or steamy romances, definitely check this one out. If this is not your type of book, definitely don’t ruin the ratings.

I love Ana Huang, just finished 2 books in the If Love series which were amazing and this was no exception. While I dont usually love the forced / arrange marriage trope this book made it work! Cant wait for the second book to come out.

“You can’t see the stars in New York,” Dante said. “So I brought the stars to you.” 🥹

After reading the reviews, this book is controversial for most. I, personally, loved it. I have read the Twisted series and can see where some people would have opinions on it being too much like her other work, overplayed, unoriginal, etc. but I think it was just perfect. Most forced marriage stories turn into real love eventually, but I was happy to see that they had to work for that love. To work through their problems with each other, as well as family problems, to make it work. Once I reached 90% I kept putting off finishing it because I didn’t want it to end. The ending was perfect though! 💗

Read if you like:
Billionaire Romance
Enemies to Lovers
Arranged Marriage/Marriage of Convenience
One bed
“Touch her and I’ll kill you”
Spicy talk

Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for allowing me to read and review for the republishing!

I kept seeking people giving this one high reviews but personally I don’t get how it got so many good reviews because I had to force myself to read up to 40%. I just had to DNF because I found it boring .

3.5 stars. Vivian and Dante are forced into an arrangement neither of them wants. Their romance isn’t instalove and it is well paced for two strangers. The lies and betrayal must be dealt with before inner peace is found so their love can grow as it was meant to. There are diverse characters and there are terrible characters, and all together is a good story.

Ah yes, another enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience, and forced proximity! I have read that this is a spin off of some characters in the Twisted series, (male MCs?) and I cannot confirm since I have not read the twisted series before this. What I can say is that this book is easy to follow without knowing any knowledge of pervious characters! It does great as a stand alone book, although there will be more in the series. What made this book interesting was that the male MC - Dante - was blackmailed into marriage. This book had me reliving my FanFic era fantasies! We all love a good one bed trope, and forced marriage while the two MCs (Vivian and Dante) actually fall in love and make it real! The middle and ending did drag for my taste, because you know what’s going to happen since everything is told by both main characters POVs. If you are looking for an easy read that’s easy to follow with some spice dashed here and there, this might be for you!

*potential spoilers**
Again, if this is a tie in with other series, it would make more sense, but the people involved in the blackmail are just spoken about, and not really involved! I am use to stories where perhaps more risk would of been taken and more development would of happened. I mean you’re talking about the mafia and CEOs of BIG companies, somethings gotta be brewing! I would of loved more action, but I guess that would lead to a darker romance. I’m glad also Vivian didn’t take Dante back right away, it gave some justification to her getting a backbone in her character development in standing up to anyone she disagrees with & that Dante had some changes as well! It’s just you know that Dante will eventually tell Vivian about the blackmail and they will break up, I mean who wouldn’t?! Which is why you can see the conflict as predictable, but as you go into a marriage of convenience trope, it’s honestly to be expected!

4.5 stars!

"King of Wrath" is my first Ana Huang book, and I cannot wait to read her back catalog now! What a spicy, sexy, trope-y, delicious, scandalous ride! I am typically not a fan of alpha male "touch her and I'll k1ll you" billionaire main characters, but I sort of fell in love with Dante a little?! My god, what a hunk! Although his relationship with main character Vivian starts off contentiously, their romance blossoms and grows and is absolutely addicting to read. I could not get enough and did not want this book to end. Thank god this is a series! I need more of this kind of angst in my life! I loved Vivian as the main character. She is strong, independent, and talented, but not around her family, who have beaten every ounce of charisma, charm, and independence out of her with their toxicity. She doesn't immediately fall in love with Dante, which is different from most of the other arranged marriage books I have read. He has to work for it...and the groveling he has to do to get there is delectable. And when they are together? It's fireworks...literally and figuratively! It's fun to step into a world full of jewels and art and luxury every once in a while, and Ana Huang seems to have mastered it here. I was engaged and enthralled the entire book, and I could see what was happening playing out in my mind so clearly because of her knack for descriptive writing. Did I mention the spice? THAT LIMO SCENE. Going to be thinking about that one for months to come!

Thank you to NetGalley, Ana Huang, and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books/Bloom Books for providing me with an ARC copy of this book! All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for my review.

Excellent novel: King of Wrath is a spicy billionaire romance. Tropes include dual POV, enemies-to-lovers, arranged marriage, and one bed.

This novel follows characters Dante and Vivian throughout their arranged marriage, and is full of plot twists, family / cultural dynamics, and has a sprinkle of overlap with characters from Huang's Twisted series. I loved the dual POV and the insight it provided into the inner workings of each character's thoughts and motivations. While there is some overlap between characters of this novel and Christian / Stella from her previous series, this novel is perfect for readers new to Huang's books, as well as seasoned fans.

I can't wait for the next installment in this series!

Thank you Netgalley, Ana Huang, and her team for providing me with this title for my honest review. Dante Russo never wanted to marry anyone. Especially not a jewellery heiress he is blackmailed into marrying. But now, he doesn't want to let her go. Vivian Lau strives for her independence but always strives to please her family. Even if he mean marrying a brute of a man Dante Russo. But she never expected to start carrying for him.

Now I've only read Twisted Love by Ana Huang, so the "touch her and I will kill you" style is not new. But there is something oddly refreshing to this take. Dante is not a killer just because, he is more of a ruthless business man in a world of socialites. Vivian doesn't just fall instantly in love, the relationship progress in a way that forced proximity would allow a relationship to grow organically. I also appreciate that the fact that they were upperclass was not toned down. I find too often when one of the characters is striving for independence it normally means they are trying to be "normal" when they never will be. This was full of lavish dates and sweet expensive moments, it was true to their characters and added to the reality of their situation. Nothing about this book came off cheesy. I enjoyed this book , I would love to see a continuation of Vivian and Dante to see where they are in a couple of year. Would I pick up another Ana Huang, maybe if I am looking for a predictable plot. Sometimes it is good, especially if you are a mood reader like me.
Other times I am looking for something that broadens my horizons a bit. I would recommend this book if you love a good enemies to love romance.

*places Partition on a loop while reading this book* I love how the MCs in this book were older but it never took for granted the spice that Ana is known for. I’m looking forward to this series!

I really liked this book!
The dynamic between Vivian and Dante was so fun and real. The family dynamic and pressure that Vivian deals with was so interesting to read about and I’m honestly glad it ended the way that it did in the end with her family.
Dante is much like the men in the twisted series but a little more easy going it seems. He’s definitely rich and likes things to go his way, but he had a soft spot for Vivian early on and he proves it throughout the book.

I enjoy how this plays into the same universe as the twisted series and we see some of the same characters pop up! I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait for the rest of the series

I started the Twisted series a couple weeks ago and after getting King of Wrath it is solidified that Ana is an insta but author for me. This book was sexy and steamy and had me giddy! I loved seeing the mentions of characters from the twisted series intermingled in here Vivian reminded me of myself at times and had me rooting for her happy ending with Darius I can’t wait till the next book comes out in a couple weeks I’m hooked. Sad I’ll have to wait till October for book 3 I hope Ana keeps writing her books are so good

This book is BASICALLY Twisted Love (and the entire Twisted series) repackaged as King of Wrath. The similarities are very similar. It was a fine read, I would give it another chance as an audiobook, but after reading it, I couldn't pinpoint things that made me go, "This is the best thing ever." I think this book will either be one you really love or one you really don't. If you liked the Twisted Love series, you'll probably like it. If you've read any of the Twisted Love series and didn't enjoy them, I'd probably pass on this - Ana Huang writes a VERY specific type of book. Same story, different fonts - Dude claims to "not like" the girl. Then 5 seconds later to 5 minutes later, the man is all of a sudden OBSESSED with said girl. And he becomes protective "do not touch girl. She's mine". Very caveman.

P.S. The limo scene

Thank you to the publisher, and net galley for the opportunity to read this arc.

This is only my second book by Ana Huang but I really enjoyed it. It had just enough spice but also a great plot. It follows an arranged marriage between Dante & Vivian mixed with “enemies” to lovers. I’m definitely going to need to dig more into Ana Huang’s book.

I was really drawn in the story. The writing is beautiful and catching.
Dante is a billionaire who is very controlling. He doesn’t want to get married but someone blackmail him to marry his daughter. Vivian. She’s not happy about the wedding but she’s going to do it for a family.
Until they all in love until.
I loved the character and their backgrounds, all the things they shared together, seeming them falling in love even if Dante knows theirs story is not going to end well.

What a great book!

Vivian's father has decided it's time for her to get married and arranged the engagement himself. The groom? None other than New York's most eligible bachelor. Dante doesn't believe marriage is for him, but when a business rival blackmails him into marrying his daughter, it doesn't look like he has much of a say.

This was a wild ride! Here's what I loved.

Vivian and Dante. She was strong and independent in all the right ways. But she was also so relatable. I loved her humor and caring nature. Dante was cold and heartless, but learned to warm up thanks to Vivian. I loved seeing them together. Their relationship really worked.

Arranged marriage for the win. Most arrange marriage books I've read have to do with the mafia, but not this one. I liked how this played out a lot. They both learned from each other and you could literally see them falling the whole time.

New York Setting. I really liked the different settings the book took you to. All of the NY landmarks were featured and well drawn out.

The spice. Um yes. The limo. Chef's kiss.

King of Wrath had me hooked and it was so sad when I had to sleep halfway through the book. The arranged billionaire marriage trope is one of my favorite tropes and yet I so rarely read it, maybe that is why i end up loving every book with that trope, or if they are all just that good.

Dante and Vivian had the perfect amount of disdain, reluctance and pining that made the first half of this book so good. I love the fall in these books, it is easily the best part for me, and for Dante is was absolutely spectacular to read. He fought his feelings for a while and I loved it, it made for some great emotional scenes between him and Vivian. Vivian is so strong, she knows what she wants and the way she commands control from her conversation was so fun to read!

This was my first Ana Huang book and I loved so much that I’ll be continuing this series!

I remember when the twisted series had those male models on the cover and I can't believe Ana Huang has come this far!! King of Wrath is everything you want in a billionaire romance, just angst and passion really. This was so good and can't wait to recommend it!

I now know what all the hype is about with respect to this talented author. Ana Huang wrote King of Wrath with readers like myself in mind. A broody billionaire CEO who is blackmailed into an arranged marriage with a smart and determined event planner. Two people who on the surface truly don't like one another but with time find that they are not only perfectly matched but truly bring out the best in the other like no one before. I fell hard for the dominant Dante Russo and the way he saunters through life with a powerful gait that is both intimidating and beyond sexy. The way he does business is ruthless at its core but he does everything to protect his family, his name and his legacy. When Vivian Lau enters his well-guarded and rigid world, I couldn't help but grin right alongside her as she rocks his very soul meandering through a year of engagement, each finding their other half when they least expected it.

Oh my swoon! This is the kind of well-crafted and engaging kind of story I can't help but devour. Everything about the premise intrigued me right from the start and as the book progressed, I found myself rooting big time that Dante would get his proverbial head out of his gorgeous arse and realize that Vivian was the best thing to ever happen to him. Sure, his disdain for her father was warranted and the fact that Dante wanted nothing more than to stop the social climber in his tracks was most definitely needed. But it was beyond heartwarming as Dante starts to feel protective over his fake fiancee and will destroy anyone who even thinks of making her upset, including one Francis Lau. I feel as if Huang wrote Dante's uncomfortable feelings of slight guilt when it came to wanting to take down Lau perfectly. Dante never really lost his edge but it softened a bit when it came to Vivian and I was pleased that he could still maintain his gruff demeanor while still finding a way to allow her into his heart.

The pace is really great as Huang doesn't bore us with every single day and/or month that Dante and Vivian get closer to their supposed wedding date. Instead, Huang moves the story along well and we only glean what is necessary in the daily lives of our couple, highlighting the important moments as they slowly fall in love. Yes, there are glittery events that Vivian and Dante attend, which are truly something, allowing us a glimpse into the very top echelon of high society. But it's those smaller scenes where they go on dates that made me sigh like a fool. Vivian knew that Dante was trying and she said more than once how she knew deep inside the stoic man was one who honestly did care for others and wasn't always merely trying to get the best of someone. With the push of well-meaning family members and associates (since the term friends seems a bit over the top when it comes to Dante lol) Vivian got to see the man behind the facade and gives her all no matter what may transpire. And trust me, plenty does happen to threaten their burgeoning romance but Huang plays out times of hurt and disappointment beautifully, offering up tender solutions in order for both Dante and Vivian to move forward together. You just have to wait it out. But trust me, it's all worth it in the end.

I can honestly say that I loved this book from beginning to end and adored the bonus chapter about our lovebirds and how they continue to delightfully rattle the devoted and strict housekeeper that is Greta. I have to add that all of the secondary characters, even Francis and his despicable ways, added the right touch throughout this wonderful journey and I can't wait to read the next book in the series since Ana Huang most definitely has a new fan in me.

King of Wrath features two characters who are both strong in their own ways, act their age and won't stop until they get what they rightly deserve in both business and in pleasure. With steamy sex scenes that are ideally timed and full of the kind of passion that literally leaps off of the pages, the love story of Vivian and Dante is one I won't soon forget. Each possesses a strength that only gets more formidable with each passing day. And once they are together, they are unstoppable both privately and professionally and I loved every single minute.

5 huge stars!
