I absolutely loved this book. I opened this book and anytime I put it down I couldn't stop thinking about it. I absolutely devoured this book in less than 24 hours. I cannot wait for the next book to come out and see what is in store for Kai

Thank you to Ana Huang, Bloom Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

I was skeptical going into this book, because I’m in the small group of Booktok who didn't like Twisted Love, but Ana Huang really exceeded my expectations with King of Wrath. I really liked both Vivian and Dante and felt that their characters were well-developed. The dialog was soooo much better than TL, and the banter was *chefs kiss*. I couldn’t give this five stars for two reasons 1) the spicy scenes were in-line with this author’s typical style but overall fell a little flat and 2) the wishy-washy approach to highlighting the racism in society, especially among the wealthy. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book for billionaire-romance readers who love a good grumpy x sunshine dynamic.

My Thoughts:

I truly enjoyed this story! It's set in the same world as Ana Huang's Twisted Series, and we even see some crossover with Christian and Stella (a delightful surprise since they were my favorite couple from the series). But now, I think Dante and Vivian are my new favorites!

Dante Russo is the perfect contemporary romance hero. He's ruthless, serious, protective, loyal, grumpy, and domineering. He thrives off control both professionally and personally - and never plans to marry. So when he's blackmailed into marrying the daughter of his newest enemy, he's pissed and wants absolutely nothing to do with her. However, even he can't resist the warmth, beauty, and charm of Vivian Lau. Their marriage is all business, but if there's anything he takes seriously, it's his investments. There's nothing quite as sexy as when the hero falls for the last person he's supposed to! I adored it whenever Dante called Vivian 'mia cara' and 'sweetheart'. And his intense jealousy was something to behold. But Dante also had a lot of depth and kindness behind his seemingly indifferent exterior, and it was lovely getting to know him better and seeing his sweet side.

Vivian Lau was a fantastic heroine who experienced tremendous growth. She's smart, generous, kind, sophisticated, and charming. But she shows different sides to different people. To her family, she's an obedient daughter willing to do whatever is asked of her as long as it helps her parents succeed. To Dante, she's bold, sassy, infuriating, and addicting. Vivian not only discovers love in this story, but she finds herself, and that journey was beautiful to follow.

Both Dante and Vivian were well-developed characters with unique and complicated histories with parents that really affected their current mannerisms and behavior. I enjoyed discovering these family dynamics and seeing how Dante learns to open himself to trusting someone while Vivian learns to set boundaries and do what's best for her.

Dante and Vivian's chemistry was electric! Due to the nature of their engagement, there's already so much tension. And the fact Dante wants to hate Vivian and fights his attraction to her made everything more intense. So when they finally confess their feelings and get together, it is explosive!

And let's not forget the spice! These sex scenes were HOT! Plain and simple. There are some steamy moments that take place in a library, limo, public garden, and Bali bungalow with one bed, that'll have you reaching for your nightstand.

There were some smutty things that weren't my cup of tea, like when Dante has Vivian licking up her own c*m, but hey, to each their own. But overall, I did enjoy the smut.

This book has the most epic GROVELING I've ever seen!!!! The fact Dante actually works to win Vivian back was amazing! It takes some time but Dante never pressures her to forgive him. Instead, he's patient, determined, and persistent. And then he does the unthinkable: Dante mother-f*cking Russo gets on his hands and knees for Vivian. Ahhhh, this scene was *chef's kiss* and lives in my head rent-free.

I also really appreciate the believability of this romance. I think my biggest hangup with the Twisted Series was how most of the guys were straight-up unhinged and the girls were way too sweet to fall for that kind of crazy. But Dante is just a super possessive, intense guy and Vivian is sweet but has a backbone (around Dante at least). I found their dynamic to be realistic. Also, the story happens over the course of a few months, which made this slow burn all the better.

But sometimes, the time jumps were too big. We'd sometimes skip 2-3 months after a heated moment and it left me wondering what on earth happened during that time. Apparently nothing, but that wasn't really satisfying to me. I wanted more insight into their feelings during the months we skipped.

The complicated relationship between Vivian and her family, while infuriating, is something I really resonated with since I grew up in a similar (less intense) household. I absolutely hated Vivian's parents, specifically the dad. How he treated Vivian and the rest of his family like they were pawns in a game was sickening. It was also horrible how Vivian would try to speak up for herself, but her dad would shut her up by saying "I am your father. You do not speak to me this way" and then manipulate her by bringing up how everything he's done has been for her. That is such harmful behavior and puts so much pressure and guilt on a child. Their dynamic was infuriating yet very real. And in the end, it was wonderful watching Vivian learn to stand up for herself and realize that you can love your parents on your own terms. There's no need to allow toxic people to have any say or control over your life, parents included.

My main complaint with this story is the pacing. The middle section was pretty slow, and sometimes the writing was too wordy and repetitive whenever discussing Dante or Vivian's feelings. I recognize this was done to reiterate and develop their emotions, but it felt redundant at times. I ended up skimming some of the nondialogue.

Overall, King of Wrath was a wonderful book that I 100% recommend reading if you like billionaire romances with an arranged marriage and hate-to-love trope. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

this was amazing. Vivian Lau is a society heiress is set to marry Dante Russo, the most eligible bachelor and billionaire. Their slow burn killed me in the beginning, especially with how cold but attentive Dante was given the reasons for the marriage on his part. He never planned to marry, let alone an arranged marriage.

Vivian held her ground and knew her place. She was always a different version of herself to her parents, trying to get their approval on everything.

The chemistry between Vivian and Dante was absolute fire! They had a connection almost immediately, as well as attraction.

I’m also so glad we got to see some characters from Twisted Lies, it was so fun to realize we’d met Dante once before and to get an entirely new perspective of them. I can’t wait for the continuation of this series, it’s already started off incredibly.

“You can’t see the stars in New York,” Dante said. “So I brought the stars to you.” This quote was one of my favorites from the book.
King of Wrath is the first of many books in the Kings of Sin book series. This one focuses the love story of Dante and Viviane. If you loved her Twisted series you will love this one! We got a little taste of Dante’s character in Twisted series - this one is his chance to tell his story of him and Vivian Lau. So many tropes you love:
Billionaire/Heiress Romance, Enemies to Lovers, Jealousy Trope, Arrange Marriage trope. Not to mention two very strong willed main characters with so much hot chemistry. The story slowly melts from hate, to lust to love. Lots of tension, jealousy, and steamy scenes in this book. Dante and Vivian are forced into an arranged marriage. They absolutely despise each other. Vivian is the daughter of the man he wants to destroy so while they are engaged for a year he’s trying to do everything in his power to destroy Vivian father but also ends up falling in love with her along the way. Many thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and NetGalley for the digital review copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I REALLY enjoyed how the book panned out. I think that the spice scenes were perfectly spaced out and at an appropriate level. The only thing that made me cringe a little was the limo scene, buttt I'm not here to criticize what people might be into. I usually hate dual POV because I think of it as unnecessary, but it was really great to see both aspects of Dante's and Vivian's lives, and I think that Anna Huang chose the best scenes to write in the appropriate POV and it really captivated the essence of each person's personality. Also, the recognition of family, especially in an Asian household really made me want to cry. It is such a nuanced topic, the love we have for our family despite all the differences in opinions.

The ending almost had me uninterested, I wish it would have been resolved a bit sooner, but adding the scene where she reconnects with her family helped with the pacing. Really great read, I look forward to reading Anna Huang's future works!!!

Thank you to Bloom Books, Sourcebooks and NetGalley for this advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.

I put my trust in Ana Huang for a great time and I am never disappointed.

I remember briefly meeting Dante and Vivian in Twisted Lies and it was such a cool thing to see Christian and Stella actually be in this book as well. But I digress, this book was a very quick read and one that I had so much fun with. This is the start to Ana’s next series and it is a very promising start.

I really loved Vivian as a character and seeing her work through so many different kinds of relationships was so great to see. I also really enjoyed seeing the side characters make up the cast of characters that we will be exploring in this series.

The main thing that I will say is that this book felt very similar to Twisted Love and hit similar plot points but I still enjoyed it very much.

WHERE WAS THE SMUT?!??? Ok, this was my first book from BookTok sensation Ana Huang, the purported patron queen of billionaire smut. Needless to say, I came in with HIGH expectations for my return to smut romance.

Sadly, this was just ok. Not even very spicy and with a romance I could only half stay engaged with. There was nothing patently wrong per se, but this just didn’t get my heart racing or my libido excited. The sexual attraction is hinted at early on but it takes a remarkably long time for anything to really happen. The constant hot and cold and time jumps where months would go by without us seeing anything also didn’t help sell us on the budding romance aspect.

And though Dante hints several times at potentially being dark enough to unalive someone, as being a dark and with anger management issues, I never quite found intimidating enough. Frankly I expected much more to this supposed darkness than what we got. Is he the “touch her and die” kind of possessive asshole, I guess but I didn’t really BELIEVE he would unalive anyone which kind of bursts the bubble on the fantasy and trope. You have to really believe they would do it.

Lastly, while I certainly have ZERO issues suspending any and all belief for these types of romances, if you’re going to make the best friend this bartender and struggling writer, having her go from a dumpy college bro bar in East Village to literally THE most exclusive private club in Manhattan and likely THE WORLD is just a stretch too damn far. I literally laughed out loud when all of a sudden Isabella was a bartender at the Valhalla Club. Did she get it through Dante’s connection?? Is she secretly some insanely talented bartender?? WHO KNOWS BUT PROBABLY NO TO BOTH. Truly a mystery how she goes from those extremes. You know the ultra old money families, think Rockefellers, would want this libations poured by only the best so truly comical somehow Isabella is there. It might be a small gripe but it honestly just feels lazy and is something I certainly expect better of for such a seasoned, popular, and prolific romance writer like Ana.

While Kai did intrigue me enough to want to see how he and Isabella get together in the next book, I don’t know that I’m all that eager to jump into another Ana Huang romance anytime soon.

Tropes: enemies to lovers, Dual POV, grumpy sunshine, forced proximity, billionaire romance, interracial romance

King of Wrath had so many of my favorite tropes rolled in, and I finished it in one day. I loved Vivian and Dante as characters, even if they did seem unrealistic, but the chemistry wasn’t always there for me. The dialogue was also unoriginal and the book wasn’t overly distinguishable from other things I’ve read. Overall, it was a solid romance and I enjoyed reading, but it wasn’t my favorite from Ana Huang.

-Marriage of convenience /forced marriage
-Forced proximity
-Enemies to lovers
-possessive grumpy hero
-slow burn

Dante and Vivian show us what love can do with the right person. Both characters grow throughout the story. Dante is your rich alpha-hole, jealous, possessive and bossy. He didn’t give Vivian his best in the beginning but when he caught feelings it was game on!
Vivian is sweet, loyal and quickly develops a backbone. She isn’t really weak, just accepts her duty to her family. Dante does bring out the best in her.

Loved the banter, loved the tension and the dates will make you swoon

Dante is top tier, and he might have crept into the top five of all time. The spice was on another level, and I can't wait for the next in this series!

Lets talk about phenomenal tropes. In this story there is grumpy/sunshine pairing, arranged marriage, one bed, and fake dating.

This story was such a slow burn, but worth the wait. The inner struggle that Dante faced as he realizes his true feelings was well written. But Vivian’s growth into taking control of her own life, had me cheering.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It was predictable, but binge worthy. I finished this story in two days.

The smut was just right and added to the story. It was hot and heavy in just the right way.

The author is continuing with a sequel involving side characters from this story. It is going to be great as the ground work was being laid in this story for the next couple.

I recommend this story if you are looking for a romance that’s binge worthy, smutty, and has series potential.

I was already a fan of Ana Huang and her twisted series, and knew King of Wrath would be an instant read for me. This book did not disappoint! Ana did an amazing job developing Dante and Vivian as characters. If you love books that have arranged marriage, forced proximity, possessive men and “touch her and die” vibes, this book is for you!! Thank you NetGalley for sending me this ARC!

Solid 3.5 stars

The beginning of this book was slow for me and took me until maybe 40% to really enjoy it.

I didn’t like Vivian or Dante from the start but I’m so glad that changed. I like that Vivian wasn’t just one dimensional and showed who she really was with Dante.

Man! Dante definitely got better and better for me while ready! All the little things he did and said was swoon.

“You’ve been gone less than a week and I already feel like I’ve spent an eternity in hell.”

This was my first Ana Huang book and I can already say that it isn't gonna be my last !!
Dante Russo is the perfect morally grey character, his presences is literally described as if it could "swallowed every molecules of oxygen in the room like a black hole consuming a newborn star".
The star in this story is definitely Violet who was really well consumed 😉.

The banter between the characters was funny, brilliant and witty. I loved it very much.
And each time he called her, "mia cara" , arggg my heart swelled.
The spicy scene was really well-written, I enjoyed every second of it haha.

What I loved most about this book, is how Violet learned to respect herself, to say no, to be herself. It has also a dual point of view, something I adored and the character development was gold.
This story has every trope I love, Ennemies to Lovers, arranged marriage, if you touch her,you die and grumpy vs sunshine !

Briefly, I enjoyed this story a lot and will definitely read the next one with Kai's point of view.

This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author. Must read

Well this was a fun book to read! Full of angst, chemistry, and suspense, Ana Huang had me on the edge of my seat with this book!

A marriage of convenience between heiress Vivian and billionaire CEO Dante that turns steamy. Vivian was such a powerful and strong woman and Dante was swoon worthy for sure. There’s something about a man that will grovel let alone a powerful and wealthy man. These two create some chemistry that is to die for. I haven’t read the Twisted series but hear it’s the same universe. Her writing is beautiful and I can’t wait for the sequel. Such a fantastic read!

By FAR one of Ana Huang’s best yet. I enjoyed the Twisted series, but King of Wrath was a step up in both complexity and spice (also so appreciated how much of an anti-hero Dante was in this one). There were moments of tension that felt a little reminiscent of Twisted Lies, but Christian and Dante are very similar, so that’s not too surprising.

If you are looking for a enemies to lovers, smutty, and honestly truly sad (because I loved Vivian’s story) book, then this is for you!

Massive thanks to NetGalley and Bloom books for the ARC in exchange for a review.

Book 1 of the Kings of Sin series. Set in the same world as the Twisted Series.

𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Vivian Lau, luxury event planner and jewelry heiress in Manhattan, is the epitome of perfection… or so it seems from the outside. Vivian struggles with the expectations thrust upon her from her family but still never really asking questions and continues always doing what she’s told. She knew at a young age that she would most likely end up in an arranged marriage as that was common in her family’s lifestyle. What she didn’t expect was it to happen so soon, and to the one man who seems to loathe her before they’ve even said two words to each other… although that doesn’t stop the instant physical attraction.

Dante Russo, billionaire, and CEO, now has to play ‘nice’ with the enemy. Well maybe it’s more just tolerating. He makes an agreement with Vivian’s father, at least until he can work out a plan to get him out of it. In the mean time, Vivian is forced to move into his house, be a regular part of his life, and play the happy couple for the year leading up to the wedding. Dante didn’t quite realize what a fire cracker his betrothed was going to be, and the more time they spend together, the more intrigued he is by her and the more his normally closed off persona starts to open up. Dante really, and I mean REALLY struggles with his communication and his emotions… but also who knew the ruthless Russo had a big heart hiding under there…

This book had me sucked in from the very beginning. The suspense is laid right out in front, but I loved that we didn’t have to wait a ton of time until we were given the ‘reason’ behind the arranged marriage. This does jump in time frame a few weeks at a time quite a bit. The chemistry and tension between these two 😮‍💨 oh boyyy! I loved the backhanded complements and the banter these two were throwing down. Dante’s jealous and possessive side making an apperance was just icing on the cake. The amount of character growth both Vivian and Dante went through was outstanding. And sheesh, does Ana know how to make a man grovel or what… especially on his knees. Dante must have taken some notes from Alex Volkov. I loved the Twisted Series and was happy to be back in this world. I enjoyed the little cameos of Christian Harper too while him and Dante were teasing each other about their respective ladies. Now though, I can’t wait for Kai and Isabella’s book 🤭 I have so many theories!
