This book was exceptional, and it just kept getting better and better. I really admired Vivian as a character. While her decisions were occasionally questionable, no one could doubt her dedication to her family, and she grew quite a lot over the course of the book. I wasn’t too sure of Dante in the beginning—his coldness and cruelty made me question his suitability as the romantic lead—but once he began to care for Vivian, he was practically a teddy bear.
The chemistry between Vivian and Dante was off the charts, and I adored how loving Dante ending up being toward Vivian. He was incredibly caring and willing to grovel. This book truly had everything I love in a romance novel, including jealousy, an alpha male, and a bit of danger. This story was one of the best I’ve read this year.
Overall, this was a witty and dramatic romance with scorching chemistry between the main characters. I highly recommend it.
*I received an ARC of this novel. This is my complete and honest review.*
i wanted to love this one so desperately but it just felt a little too wordy for me. i felt myself skipping whole paragraphs which is very unlike me! i have really enjoyed ana's writing in the past so im unsure why this one didnt feel right. it was almost too slow but also rushed? ill try the next one though!
ing of Wrath is the first installment in Ana Huang's newest series, Kings of Sin. Although I did not really vibe with her Twisted series I decided to give this one a go based on the chatter I'd been seeing about it. I just don't think this author is for me, unfortunately.
What I liked: I thought the story was okay until about 50%, the plot and everything was moving along great. The characters were okay, nothing too original but not awful either. The trope was great, I don't read too many arranged marriage books so this was a bit refreshing.
What I didn't like: Pretty much everything besides what I mentioned liking before. After about 50% it seems like the plot is recycled and reused. After the big drama of Vivian finding out about the blackmail and moving out then they start dating AGAIN and it just seemed to drag on and on. This could've ended two chapters after the fight with a reconciliation but nope we are going to make Dante Russo totally lose his identity and beg and plead and grovel for months on end dating his fiancé AGAIN in order for her to forgive him for something her father was really responsible for.
The chemistry between Vivian and Dante wasn't it either. There was a little spark when they first met and she stands up to him but I think they had sexy times way too early to be believable and for me their chemistry just fizzled out after that. There were many missed opportunities to make them a bit more fiery together where the author just seems to totally not seem interested in doing that.
I will probably not continue this series even though I heard the second one is better (King of Pride). This author just doesn't seem to do the characters and plot justice and it all seems very forgettable and unoriginal.
Thank you so much to Bloom Books for providing me with an eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Ana Huang’s Male Main Characters will defo be triggering to any survivor of intimate partner violence.
Another great book by Ana Huang! I loved the Twisted series so I was excited to read this one! Dante was excellent, I love a grumpy billionaire CEO. He was just the right amount of possessive. Loved the arranged marriage and family drama as well!
thank you NetGalley for my copy of King of Wrath !
Ana Huang never misses, I was looking forward to her next series since I loved seeing the new characters in the 4th book of the twisted series. i was automatically intrigued & could not wait to see these two bickering fiancée’s.
Dante is being blackmailed & forced to marry Vivian. they have one year to get the marriage underway, but there are other things occurring in the midst of their engagement that will determine if it sticks. will they fall in love, will Dante take revenge, it’s all in motion & seeing the story unfold was so great.
my favorite trope in romance is forced proximity because we get to see more of how characters interact in the small moments. so while they become immediate roommates, seeing how this transpires throughout the story was my favorite part <3
Loved the character growth in this book but it definitely felt a little too long. I thought the main characters were compelling and interesting, and of course the spice was great. Not sure if I'll continue with the series, but I did enjoy reading this one!
2/5 ⭐️ I’m not gonna lie, the main reason I wanted to read this book was because the heroine has my name lol. I really wanted to love it but it just did not work for me at all.
Vivian had no personality whatsoever. She was so bland. I thought she would be more interesting but that was not the case. And Dante? I was expecting more from him. I found him kind of boring tbh. Given that the name of this book is “King of Wrath” I was expecting more intensity from him or from anyone in this book.
I did like the premise of the story. Marriage of convenience will always do it for me every time, but this dragged!!! I was so BORED! This romance just felt so forced and not genuine. I thought it would have more angst or tension but it had none of that 🤦🏻♀️. I didn’t feel any type of chemistry between them. And all of the time jumps were just so random. There was a lot of telling and not a lot of showing. It just irked me so much!
This had so much potential but it just didn’t draw me in like I thought it would 😭. From the 3 books I read by this author, I only enjoyed Twisted Lies (barely) so I am just going to conclude that she is not the author for me 💔.
I was a huge fan of Huang's Twisted Love Series and have hope that I will enjoy the King of Sins series as much. Dante and Vivian's love story was frustrating at times and I had a hard time liking Dante for much of the book. He was cruel and insensitive to Vivian who had no idea her father blackmailed him into the marriage. As the story moves along, Dante continues to search for a way out of the marriage (and the blackmail), and yet he ever-so-slowly gives into Vivian’s charm. Huang did a great job building the sexually charged, tension filled attraction between the two of them. It was believable that these two went from distasting each other to tolerating the other’s presence to falling in love. It is not an easy or uncomplicated love, but one that feels real and earned.
I also loved the appearance of Christian Harper from Twisted Lies and the dynamic between him and Dante. It is so satisfying when tough stubborn men fall under the spell of a strong independent female. This book can be read as a stand alone, but also sets up the series well for Kia and Isabella's story. It’s a quick, engrossing read with lots of chemistry, flawed characters, and some spicy moments. A definite thumbs up for me.
Thank you SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and NetGalley for this copy of King of Wrath!
This book is definitely on the spicy side, which I usually don't gravitate towards. It's my first Ana Huang book and I'm surely going to read more of her books! Although the story is quite predictable, it's nonetheless a fun romance!
I LOVE Ana. I loved the twisted series and I know I'm going to love this one. I couldn't stop reading it, it was an obsession. It's so good.
Review: King of Wrath by Ana Huang
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
To say I was excited for this was an UNDERSTATEMENT. I have heard so many good things about Ana Huang’s books and with the combination of this cover I was dying to start.
I loved Dante and Vivian. Like immediately. There was zero warming up period for me with them, I just instantly was so invested in their story. The side characters were also perfect, and I can’t wait to get more of their personal stories in the upcoming books.
I thought the romance was good, it’s definitely a bit spicy and I liked the backstory of the characters, but my qualms were in the “enemies to lovers” aspect. The “…to lovers” part happened a bit too quickly, and I didn’t truly feel like they disliked each other. It was still a good trajectory but I just sometimes prefer a bit more banter and arguments at first.
I definitely enjoyed this book, I just had a hard time getting into it and I really wanted this to be a binge read. Did it ruin it for me? No way, I really enjoyed it and I’m fully invested in continuing the series. And definitely recommend it!
(3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 for posting)
Shared on Instagram and Goodreads.
I love a good billionaire romance. This was a quick read and I’m excited to continue the series. Ana Huang never disappoints.
Dante and Vivian were so fun to read about, and the spice was great. I really enjoyed reading the progression of their relationship. Even though I really enjoyed this book, I didn’t connect with it as much as I wanted to. Because of that, I’m giving it 4 stars!
Give this book a read if you loved her Twisted series!
Despite being a new to me author and I quickly found myself absorded into the story and writing style and the palpable attraction between Vivian and Dante. Liked this book more than I initially expected and I'll definitely be looking forward to the rest of the series.
Ana Huang's world-building is second-to-none and this book is a total escapist read that sucks you in from the first page! I loved everything about this book from the banter between the characters to the delicious details and engaging plot. Her storytelling abilities are incredible and I found this to be highly interesting! I absolutely recommend it!
I've read most of Ana Huang's books and I've loved them all. So, I did have high expectations for this book and thankfully the book didn't disappoint. I finished the book in a day, the pace of the story was great.
I really loved Vivian and Dante. I loved how protective he was over her & I loved how strong she was.
The book was amazing but I did feel like something was missing which is why I'm giving it a 4 stars. Overall, it was great but the story itself is pretty basic. But, their tension and chemistry between them was insanely good. Super excited for the next book!
I loved this book. I wouldve read it quicker but adulting got in the way. I loved the story and characters! I will definitely buy this and reread for sure.
Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for the ARC of this book.
The book is a fairly quick read. You could easily read it in a day if you had nothing else to do. That being said the story was just average for me. I didn’t really buy into Dante and Vivian’s love story just because they shared a couple milkshakes and steamy sessions together. That being said, the steamy scenes were probably some of the best written which is why I gave this book 3 stars.
Overall, not a bad book but I think there are other books out there that are better. Will I read Kai and Isa’s book when it comes out? Absolutely, because Kai has my heart after all his shenanigans in this book.
I feel like you know exactly what you’re going to get when you pick up an Anna Huang book. I really liked this one and read it super quick!
This one is for all the arranged marriage trope lovers.
If you liked Anna Huangs Twisted series then you’ll like this one as well!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!
I tried to read this one but it just wasn't for me. I didn't realize it was a billionaire romance and I am just not a fan of those. Thank you for providing the ARC
