This book was great! Had a good time reading it, and the premise/setting of the story was unexpected, which made it more interesting. The love story itself was pretty standard, but it was well written.

Sweet book, made me wish it was Christmas right now instead of 99°. Would absolutely recommend it for a romcom book club.

Did I pick up this book based on the cover? Yes. Did I enjoy it? Also yes! I really love Alicia's writing and unique stories. This book had it all banter and two of my fave tropes, grumpy x sunshine and enemies to lovers!

With Love, From Cold World has a gorgeous cover; the story within is an average romance. Opposites Lauren and Asa are forced to work together on a project, and they find themselves attracted to each other.

I really enjoyed the unique concept of this story (same with Alicia Thompson’s other books). It combined some serious concepts with a fun setting and rival banter. I recommend this book to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary in their rom-coms!

I didn't like this from the very beginning. Nothing about the characters meshed for me, so I stopped reading.

I really enjoyed this! It was a quick and easy read for me, a great palate cleanser between books. It has cute chemistry between Asa and Lauren, cozy holiday vibes, and good representation!

This was such a flop for me. Coming off the high that was this authors previous book I read and enjoyed I was so letdown by this one.

The characters had zero chemistry, they felt very flat and the plot just got away from me. I remember putting it down for other books so many times and just ultimately not enjoying it. Sad days.

Thank you to the publisher for the copy!

A superb storyteller, Ms Thompson takes her time to build the sexual and emotional tension between her characters, giving them time to learn about each other, making their feelings for one another evolve before our very eyes, and giving us a hundred little moments in between that make our hearts skip a beat.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

This was great.

Romances are such a hit or miss lately, but this is a hit.

The development of their relationship feels so realistic and it is so well done. The characters are also pretty fleshed out.

With love, from Cold World was so tender and beautifully written. I could picture the world of Lauren the hard working bookkeeper, why she crushed so hard on Daniel I'll never know (jk I've been there girl!). But my man Asa!!! our spicy cutie with the colorful hair, I love him so so much and he is now on my ever growing shelf of book boyfriends. I loved every minute of this book and I can't wait to read what Alicia writes next!

This was a solid follow up to Love in the Time of Serial Killers. In many ways it felt more like a traditional romance than Thompson's first book did. I believed in their relationship and wanted them to figure it all out. I do feel like we spent too much time on Daniel - and I really just needed Lauren to have some self worth but I did enjoy it over all and will probably continue to pick up Thompson's books.

This cute little story, about two people with a lot of baggage and family drama, left me with a smile on my face. Loved the Cold World setting (has this writer never heard of Santa's Village??), and the ways in which the main characters overcame their sad/tragic home life backstories - and not only overcame, but actually did things to make life better for other kids who were in their positions. I was definitely rooting for Asa and Lauren to get it together.

As a queer bisexual who was kicked out of the church, Asa's story hit so close to home. But I think that's what made this book so much more special to me. Thompson's way of storytelling is truly showcased in this book. With Love, from Cold World is a truly spectacular story. I know I'll be rereading it for years to come.

Alicia Thompson has done it again. I absolutely loved Love In The Time Of Serial Killers, so I was so excited to read this book.

This story follows two coworkers who must work together to save Cold World - an indoor winter wonderland in Florida. This was the perfect book to read around this time, it felt so festive and gave off Christmas vibes.

I absolutely loved Asa and Lauren in this book, they have a bumpy relationship at first but it’s adorable seeing the chemistry evolve over time. I’m a sucker for dual POV in romances and it was done so well in this one, each character had something interesting about them.

Asa is bisexual and I think the LGBTQ+ rep in this was perfectly written. I loved his character so much, he was such a sweet and lovable character. The slow-burn romance was out of this world with its snarky banter. I found myself giggling throughout this book.

Also, the setting in this was phenomenal. It gave off Disneyworld vibes but with a wintery touch to it. It was so fun and perfect for the story. I honestly couldn’t put this book down, the audiobook was fantastic.

I can’t express how much I loved this book and the feelings I felt upon finishing it. Alicia has a way of writing such lovable characters and touching stories. I would highly recommend checking this one out!

Thank you so much NetGalley and Berkley for the review copy and PRH Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!

I picked up Alicia Thompson’s WITH LOVE, FROM COLD WORLD (Berkley, 400 pp., paperback, $18) after hearing raves from people whose tastes tend to mesh with mine. And they were right: This tale of sparring co-workers at a winter-themed tourist attraction in Florida (Lauren: restrained and precise; Asa: charming and secretly sensitive) is one of the most perfect books I’ve read this year.

Did I binge read this? Yes, yes I did. This book had LAYERS!! I was so emotionally attached to Asa and Lauren. This book was emotional and loving. And the workplace romance was a plus.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC!

I fell in love with Lauren and Asa. What started as a childish rivalry bloomed into a beautiful love story. The more time these two spent together, the more they got to know each other... and it allowed us to get to know them better as well. The dual POVs here were necessary. I don't think I would have enjoyed this book nearly as much if the story was told solely from Lauren's point of view.

I also really appreciated the fact that Alicia Thompson included important discussions. I rarely read books where the characters have lived through the things mentioned in this book, and while some could say that it makes it a heavier, less fun romance, I have to disagree. I think it was perfectly dosed. Yes, the characters carry some trauma. But it wasn't mentioned in a way that made the story sad or depressing. I think it just allowed our two main characters to connect on a deeper, more emotional level.

I really enjoyed this book and I'll be sure to read more of Alicia Thomspon's work in the future!
