So….I read Falling before this and it was one of my favorite books, I bought it in both hardback and paperback and I just had to request this one after! Honestly, T.J. Newman if one of my new favorite authors. I read Falling in one sitting and this one was exactly the same! I plunged (pin totally intended) in and couldn’t stop reading! The characters are fantastic, the thrill doesn’t stop, and the entire story belongs on the big screen, that’s for sure. The author has such an easy to read style and great characterization so even when you’re “stuck” with characters, it’s so much fun! Great read!!!

5 big stars!
I loved this book! Miss Newman is a must-buy author for me. The suspense contained on these pages kept me up long past my bedtime.

Thank you for this ARC! I enjoyed Falling by this same author so much that I was excited to read Drowning. It did not disappoint. It has the same fast-paced excitement and insider knowledge of how airplanes, airlines, and their employees operate. This is an excellent beach read or when you can't concentrate too completely on a book. As there is not much character development or overall story, you can pick it up and put it down and not forget what is happening.

This was a good story which kept me turning the pages throughout the night. Great mystery, writing and plotting will recommend to all my friends who love this genre.

This book was not what I expected at all and I’m not mad about it! I anticipated a butt clenching “balls to the wall” thriller. Yes there were a lot of those thrilling moments, but I was also surprised to find an endearing backstory among a few of the characters.

🌊 Other than the obvious “trapped under the water” theme, drowning deals with both short and long term grief as loved ones are lost before and after the crash.

If you’re looking for a thrilling and fast paced read, give this one a go! I really enjoyed it and might check out Falling next!

Please check TW’s with this one since there is a lot of death, a plane crash, and drowning.

💕 Thank you @netgalley & @avidreaderpress for the Digital ARC! A special thanks to T.J. Newman. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed Drowning, especially the story setup and action. It felt like a proper thriller, and I got anxious reading it. It also wasted no time and jumped right into the conflict, but I think that’s why this is only four stars for me. I wish there had been more character/world-building. There were a LOT of side characters, and it was difficult to feel for them or understand their arcs without really knowing who they are, their motivation, and their values. This was a super quick, heart-pumping read that kept me locked in with the action, but ultimately I wish there were more to the story.

This was exciting from the start it had me hooked and not wanting to put the book down until I found out what would happen! Definitely an action thriller with lots of edge of your seat moments! I loved it and highly recommend it. Thirller fans you don't want to .it's this one!

I've never read this style before (mass market thriller) but I really enjoyed it! While I wouldn't recommend reading on a plane, at the beach would be great--pardon the pun but it flew by. Is it complicated or highly literary? No. But I wasn't looking for that from it.

Once I started reading I couldn't stop! I felt like I was right there with the characters, experiencing their fear, desperation, and hope. If you enjoy intense thrillers, disaster themes, or survival stories, don't miss this one!

This is an excellent heart racing thriller!!
I was going to rate this 4 stars but the ending is so good I’m giving this 5 stars! Absolutely love the characters and the story of love, courage, and forgiveness. To truly put others before yourself in a terrible situation.
Thank you netgalley for an arc. I did buy the audiobook and the narration is fantastic!

There was so much hype around TJ Newman’s first novel Falling, that I never read it. However, I couldn’t resist the premise of Drowning. Super fast paced, propulsive, and a boom you read from start to finish in one setting.

I happened upon Falling by T. J. Newman and fell in love with this author. I enjoyed the insights of the airline world. These are real issues and make you think. I looked forward to Drowning and it was equally riveting.! This author gets better with each book. Thank you to Netgalley and you, the publisher, for allowing me the pleasure of early access. I've been read to and enjoyed reading from a young age. My mother guided my reading all the way through my teens. She made sure I read the classics and all the various genres. A big thank you to my mother! She actually wanted me to become an airline stewardess! I had to be rebellious and tried many careers finally landing in a library. Reading brought me full circle. 5 stars for both books by T. J. Newman!

This book was so intense! It was fast paced snd my heart pounded the entire time. I absolutely loved the characters and could not stop reading until I got to the end. It would make the best movie ever. I am going to go read falling now and can’t wait for the next book by this author.

Another wild, out of the box, unbelievable-yet-crazily-believable novel that will make me question myself every time I get on a plane from now on. 4/5 stars

REVIEW: Drowning by @tj_author

I read Falling and LOVED it, so was so excited to read the next book by this author. I loved this book even more!

Six minutes after take off, a plane crashes into the ocean. Evacuation attempts are made, but an engine explodes, causing problems for those in the water - and those still in the plane. The plane starts to take on water, and sinks - with twelve people still on board. Managing to waterproof the plane, the people onboard are still alive - but with limited oxygen, rescue attempts need to be fast.

Wow. This book read like a movie - I could picture all of the events occurring, and was completely invested. The range of characters was diverse and I loved reading about their development and how they dealt with the situation.

This is definitely a must read!

Thank you NetGalley for this read!

I couldn't put Falling down, and Drowning read much in the same fast-paced way. Each chapter ends with a cliffhanger leaving you wanting more.

This story follows a plane crash that lands in the ocean near Hawaii. The main characters are trapped inside, and the book follows the crew as they work to free the passengers from the plane.

Every time I read one of Newman's books, it makes me a little more fearful of flying ;) hah!

I'll keep coming back for every one of her new releases! They are always amazing, and the twists/turns are unexpected.

3.5 out of 5. This is a thriller that might be better as a movie. It won some points by having a great twist of an ending but the changing narrations were rough. There were many convoluted viewpoints and voices and I had a hard time knowing what perspective we were on, I wasn't the biggest fan of the writing. The main issue is that the story was too convenient and close knit for comfort. The mom storyline made it, although emotional, so much less believable. . Liked it did not love it.

Wow!!! I saved this book to read on the plane to Hawaii!! I could see the waters the plane sank into. Finished it within a few short days and am
already ordering several copies to give to family and friends!! I was on the edge of my seat for the entire read- holding my breath for much of it and other parts tears streamed. This book is a must and so is the movie as this will be a future summer blockbuster!! I have also read her first book, Falling and loved that too!

Another great read by T. J. Newman, like her previous novel this one starts with by grabbing you by the shirt and takes you on a roller coaster of a ride until the last page.
Shortly after take off flight 1421 crashes into the ocean off the coast of Honolulu. The landing is rough and the passengers are glad they survived, hoping for a quick rescue.
Evacuation grinds to a holt when the engine explodes causing a fiery inferno on the ocean.
I lovThe remaining passengers shut the door to stop the fire and toxic fumes from getting to them. Thinking they are safe while waiting for the rescuers to arrive the plane sinks 200 feet below the ocean. Trapping the 12 remaining passengers and flight crew inside a small air pockets inside the plane.
Time is ticking, the air supply is running out, can they be rescued in time.
Just one piece of advice before reading this book, don't read if you about to go on a plane. I read this 2 weeks before I flew to London and let's just say it lived rent free in my head during take off and landing.
A great read that was fast paced with strong lead characters. I love that it was a woman character that came up with a solution to rescuing the passengers and she was the one who executed the plan.

This book was so much more than a plane crash it dealt with the loss of a child, being given second chances and the lengths parents will go to when there child is in danger.

Wow! Drowning was a non stop, breath holding, action packed disaster thriller from the first sentences.

This was fun and also terrifying. I enjoyed this one even more than Falling.

It’s fear, humanity and emotions rolled together in a giant snowball that just mows you down.

I read this in a mere 7 hours (in which some of that time, I had to take a breather as my heart was pounding out of my chest). I don’t think I need to fly on a plane, anytime soon. Maybe ever. 😂

Such a great story and I loved the characters and could relate to so many of them. Sometimes last chances do exist but is what you
have to do to earn those worth it?

Great read! Bring me more. I’m in. Thanks for my early copy (even though I was late), why did I wait so long??
