A must read for any thriller fans. Family secrets that unravel in one night. All family members are invited to a rented house, but no one knows who sent the invite.
Such a great read with an ending that will shock you!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
I have posted to goodreads and will post to retail sites on day of publication.
Who really killed Meghan? An invitation sparks a chaotic evening filled with distrust, secrets, and mayhem ten years after the death of a beloved family member. One Night is a suspenseful thriller that keeps you up all night trying to find the answer.
The Chisholm family receives a red invitation to meet at a breathtaking home on the Oregon coast. They believe it came from the just-released killer—Meg’s former boyfriend, Cal. Cal is found to be unconscious and near death as Uncle Geoff discovers him on the side of the road. Tumultuous storms and fears that Cal will die before he can tell his story drive the family in opposite directions. But the truth unravels after a sequence of unpredictable events and significant revelations. Each family member has a story to tell and could be guilty.
The characters’ intentions and viewpoints drive the story and keep the reader in suspense until the last page. I loved how the author wove the story around one night but had many flashbacks and insights. The novel’s arc carried the story’s events and would make an exciting series or movie.
Thanks to Netgalley for this advanced reader copy. Ten years is a long time to wonder about a crime. The invitation makes you wonder what’s going to happen. Will Meghan’s murderer finally be revealed? Read to find out and wait for the dramatic ending.
Each member of a family receives an anonymous letter inviting them to a house. They must tell no one. The letter says that details will be revealed about their daughter Meg who was murdered 10 years ago.
They assume it is from the person who they believe was the murderer, who has been released from.prison.
This story is quite the mystery.
For me, it was rather drawn out, but it did have a good ending.
I thank the author, publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
It’s a gripping and twisted thriller. Cal was convicted of Meghan’s Murder ten years ago. Her family was grieving her death and her death has turned a happy family into something else. Suddenly one day they receive an anonymous invitation to cliffside home on Oregon coast.
In the span of ten years, Cal kept writing letters to her family. Perhaps the truth is more twisted than it seems to be. Meghan’s Murder has broken some relations too. But after 10 years, Maureen and her family finds Cal soaked in blood and unconscious in his car, either they can take the revenge or can make him spill the beans. Will they seek revenge?
The author has done a brilliant job. The ending was so unpredictable and the book is unputdownable. The revelation at the end shocked me. Tangled in the web of secrets, vengeance and lies, will Maureen figure out mystery of her daughter’s murder or the secret will bring the family’s reputation at stake?
Thank you Netgalley, Author and Publisher

* Thriller mystery
Very tense and creepy. Throw in a storm… great twists.
The whole book was well paced, full of red herrings, and suspense. I’m excited to check out her backlist,
4 stars
This book was okay. I appreciate the concept but the way the story was told just didn’t hold my interest, and I guessed who had done it pretty early on. There were a few good twists but overall I didn’t really like it.
Book review of One Night by Georgina Cross
Thank you to @randomhouse and @netgalley for allowing me to read and review this early release thriller!
This is the first read of Georgina Cross for me, but it won't be my last.
This thriller was a gripping mystery that I didn't see coming. I had a suspicion or two, but I was so wrong !
Meghan was murdered by her boyfriend Cal, ten years ago. Cal was convicted of killing her and has just been released from prison. An anonymous letter arrives for Meghan's family members asking each member to come to a house at the beach ⛱️. The letter promises to reveal the truth about the night Meghan died.
Her mother, two sisters, her father, stepmother, and their uncle all arrive as a huge storm rages. The house is strange! It seems someone has set them up to have a dinner party. As their uncle arrives, he is carrying an injured Cal. As some of the family try to help save him, others contemplate killing him. It's what he deserves. The power goes out, the down trees have cut off help and everyone becomes suspicious of each other.
Ending is a doozie and I was 😲 shocked I didn't see it!
Great book! Recommend you grab it when it comes out August 1, 2023. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you to Net Galley, the author, and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book, in return for my
honest review.
Georgina cross has done it again. I must say that I enjoyed One Night more than Nanny Needed and I thought that would be hard to say! Meghan was murdered 10 years ago and her ex-boyfriend who was convicted of the murder is being released from prison, the same time that the family has received invitations to a cabin for one night to hear the real story surrounding Meghan's death. As the night unfolds, this
family's life will never be the same. This story is full of tons of twists and turns. The multiple POV's was a bit confusing in the beginning. and at times It was hard to imagine certain aspects of the book being realistic but once I got past that I did enjoy the story. The author does a great job at making you question who you can trust. The suspense is felt all throughout the book with an unpredictable ending. Overall, I enjoyed the book and rated it 4 stars.
This thriller has it all. Family secrets, betrayal, and revenge and everyone under a cloud of suspicion. Who, What, When and Why? The ending both delighted and terrified me.
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC. #Netgalley # OneNight.
Thank you so much to the publisher and to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
This was pretty good! I enjoyed it. The concept was good and even if this wasn't the best book I've ever read, I did at least enjoy my time reading it. Don't let my Luke warm review stop you if you're interested in it! I'd recommend you to give it a shot.
What a splendid thriller. The ending was quite a surprise. I love when I think I know the ending and then I’m proven wrong in a spectacular way. The writing is phenomenal. I couldn’t read it fast enough. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged the entire time. I was truly shocked by the ending. Cross through me for a loop with this one and I highly recommend it. I did, however, think of the movie Clue at sometimes throughout the story (if you've seen Clue you may know what I mean, haha).
Ten years have passed since Meghan was murdered. Her boyfriend, Cal, was convicted and has been in prison for the past decade. So why have all her family members received an invitation to a vacation house where they will be told what really happened to her? Is this Cal proclaiming his innocence once again? But why all the hoopla rather than just phoning them or asking to meet? Her family is more than suspicious about the situation, but they also can’t help themselves – they all come to the house. Because what if there’s a chance that Cal wasn’t guilty? That would mean that her true murderer is still out there, free all this time, enjoying the life Meghan never had the chance to live.
The story takes place over the course of one night where of course there is a terrible storm that leaves the family isolated and with no means of communication. It could be a taut suspenseful story, but the lack of likable characters detracts from that. Meghan’s mother is too overly hostile towards Meghan’s stepmother who is not the least bit hostile, so neither of them is relatable. The mother is also completely dead set against anyone but Cal possibly being guilty and for no reason other than she didn’t think he was good enough for her. That doesn’t mean he would kill her! And she was also completely blind to her favoritism for Meghan, which is obvious in the flashbacks sprinkled throughout the story. And why did she favor her, anyway? Meghan was a terrible person, but because she was outgoing and craved attention, she’s supposedly admired and adored? No, I don’t think so.
I like the concept of the story, but there was nothing surprising or inventive about it. I knew early on who was responsible for gathering the family together, but I’m glad I stuck with it because the end was worth it. I like the author’s writing; I think it was just the few characters irritating me that kept me from loving the story. It’s a good read for a stormy night when you might find yourself isolated, as well!
First off, thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for providing me this eARC and I am voluntarily leaving my review!
Alrighty, so for “One Night” by Georgina Cross, I am giving 5 stars. I really flew through this one and enjoyed this book filled with family drama, suspense, and a good ‘ol murder mystery. The family has received anonymous letters in the mail telling to meet at this one location so they can discover what really happened to Meghan all those years ago when she was killed. Her alleged killer who spent years in prison has been released and is found unconscious near where the family is staying at. Half of the family wants him dead and the other half wants to hear what he supposedly knows. If he wakes up, he may just reveal that someone in the house knows more than they are letting on and if that’s the case, who is the real killer?! Like I said, I really enjoyed this storyline and think everything flowed together really nicely. I definitely would recommend checking this out when it’s released in August!
Meghan was murdered 10 years ago. Now her family have received anonymous letters inviting them to meet for one night at a cliffside home along the Oregon coast. The letter promises that in one night they will all find out the truth of what happened that night. Her suspected killer, ex boyfriend Cal was also invited to the house. Except Cal is unconscious from a car accident that happened on his way there. The story follows the family of Meghan with everyone's secrets at risk of being found out.
I loved the setting in this book. I was really drawn into the story and what was happening. The story will make you question who you can trust even among your own family. It also makes you question how far you would go to protect the ones you love. I really enjoyed reading this and did not predict the ending!
Thanks to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Bantam for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I was intrigued by the plot of this book and immediately wanted to know what was going to happen. The book was full of twists some I saw coming and others I didn't. Overall the book was an enjoyable read but I'm only giving it 3 stars because there was just something about it that didn't hold my attention like I wanted it to and at some points I felt more like I was reading it to just get to the end rather than truly enjoying it. However, I have been struggling to find a book to hold my attention for awhile and this may just be me and nothing to do with this book.
One Night
A Novel
by Georgina Cross
Sadly the book just seemed too far-fetched to me. NO SPOILERS. But, I just wondered "Why, why WHY" would a family even do this? Just had it figured out, but it was an ok book.
Thank you for the ARC. 5 stars for this book! I really enjoyed reading this, I did not expect the ending at all. Started the book off thinking a certain someone did it and then boom! …. another huge twist. Definitely recommend !
