My Review:
Wow, wow and more wow!!!!! I loved this one!!!!! This kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I flipped through these pages like there was no tomorrow. I had to finish this book and find out what happened next otherwise I was not eating or sleeping. This author is no stranger to me. I have read every single one her books now. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt she is one of my favorite authors. This one had to be her best yet. I didn’t know what or who to trust in this one. Every character had a secret and you couldn’t believe any one of them. That story line was great too. It kept me intrigued and gripped the entire way through. It was so intense. You have your daughters killer in front of you dying so what should you do. Should you help or not? It was a heavy question that I don’t even know the answer to. I kept asking myself through the whole book what would I do and I truly still don’t know. Now on to that heart attack of an ending. It left me speechless and shocked. I couldn’t believe it. I had to read it more than once just to make sure I was reading it correctly. Georgina Cross you keep writing them and I will definitely keep reading them. You do such a great job and I love your books so much. I’m so happy I picked up one your books years ago. I just couldn’t stop after that.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm disappointed with this book. Georgina Cross usually writes great mysteries/thrillers. However, I guess who was the killer right from the start. There was no twist, in the end, to turn things around. It was also a very slow burn. Some parts that were not necessary to the story can be cut out.
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Bantam and NetGalley for letting me read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! That ending blew me away. This atmospheric thriller has it all. Family secrets, betrayal, and revenge with everyone under a cloud of suspicion. Family members each receive a mysterious invitation to a house on the Oregon coast where they are told all questions about the oldest daughter’s murder will be answered. Who is behind this unsettling family getaway? No one can be trusted when guilt and vengeance are unwelcome guests and lives are changed forever. Thank you NetGalley and Bantam for my ARC. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks so much NetGalley and Random House Publishing for an advance read in exchange for this review.
Anonymous letters arrive one by one inviting a family to a house on the beach to find out what really happened to Meghan. Everyone seems to think that Cal, the convicted killer, is the one that sent the letters. He's found unconscious and so you have to wonder if he really did it. If he didn't, who did?
This was a good story as the many characters (told from multiple POVs) try to figure out exactly what happened to Meghan that night. Other secrets come out. The story seemed to present a couple of different possibilities as to what happened, so I guessed a completely different one and was correct. The downside of so many characters is that I didn't feel like I knew any of them, especially since it was one night. It did enough to keep me reading, especially after I guessed it. I would've liked a better detailed ending.
Such a good read - I really enjoyed this book. I'm so glad that I got the chance to read it early and will definitely be recommending it to multiple people who enjoy these types of novels. I enjoyed the characters and especially enjoyed the writing by this author. I'm excited to see what the author comes out with next as I'll definitely be reading it! Thank you to the publisher for my early copy of this book!
Another fantastic, unpredictable, terrific thriller.
One Night by Georgina Cross was just what I was expecting coming from her.
Fast-moving and twisted, this suspenseful, deftly plotted novel had me hooked from the very beginning. And up till 1am turning the pages.
Chapter by chapter, Cross expertly builds the suspense until you're hanging on tenterhooks, racing to the end. Tense, twisty, and absolutely gripping, it's impossible to put down.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
Thank You NetGalley and Random House, Ballantine & Bantam for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Just wow! The awesome Georgina Cross does it again and hits this one out of the park. Hooked me from page one and I couldn’t flip pages fast enough. Great POVs and the characters were brilliant. I was totally invested in this new tense and creepy psychological thriller. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review-
Megan was the favorite daughter and Sam and Alice always did what she said until they didn’t.
When Megan is found murdered everything seems to point to her boyfriend, they were always fighting and she was trying to break up with him.
Then 10 years after the murder everyone receives an invitation to meet at the cliff side home and the truth of the murder would. be revealed —- so who was the killer? How will Cal handle this after spending 10 years in jail?
This book blew me away! Ten years ago a young Meghan drowned, leaving her two younger sisters, her mom, and her father--who recently left for another woman--to grieve and attempt to understand why. But then "the invitation" arrives and they all gather at the secluded cabin in the woods during a horrendous thunder and rainstorm. Intriguing??? I'm hyperventilating just remembering it! Events unravel at break-neck speed so be prepared to stop everything to finish this thriller! So love her books and this one is chart-topping!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

Locked room thrillers are among my very favorites, so as soon as this title was available, I snatched it up, and it did NOT disappoint! If you were the parent of a murdered child and received a letter like this, look at me with a straight face and tell me you wouldn't go anywhere you were instructed to go. A parent, especially a mother, would do anything to find out the truth.
The family deduces the letters came from Cal, the man convicted of killing their daughter Meghan after an argument back in high school. But when Cal is brought to the house by another family member, unconscious and injured after being in a car accident, the tension begins to build as a storm rages outside, turning the Pacific into a churning, swirling nightmare that cuts off the power and lashes the house with wind and rain. The family is trapped in the house with a killer, but is it Cal?
I empathized with Meghan's mother, who wants to kill Cal and dump his body; she's enraged that he only received a ten year sentence and is now free to taunt Meg's surviving family members. Other family members want him to stay alive and confess what happened to Meg that night. But a torn out paper from a notebook tells the real story of why everyone was summoned to this location, and I was NOT prepared for the direction this story went.
This was a tense, fast-paced thriller taut with grief and emotion. You will find yourself in the room with these characters, watching this story unfold in shock and disbelief. I've been a fan since her first book, and I'll continue to buy everything she writes. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Random House Publishing/Ballantine Books for this early read. ONE NIGHT will publish late this summer, August 1, 2023.
One Night by Georgina Cross is a locked room mystery. It tells the story of Meghan who was tragically murdered ten years ago. Each chapter is written from the perspective of Meghan's family, her mother Maureen, father Paul, stepmother Rebecca, sisters Sam and Alice and Paul's best friend, their "Uncle" Geoff. It's a roller coaster of activity that spans one night at a beach house on the coast of Oregon. The beach has a history as do each of the family members.
The writer's style is extremely descriptive with twists and turns with each passing scene. This is a very atmospheric mystery best read on a cold and stormy night!
My thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this novel ahead of release with a promise of an honest review.
Whoa.
"In one night, you'll find out what happened to ..."
A literal whodunit, page-turning, psychological thriller, I could not put this down, but I dared not read it at night! One day was all it took to read Cross' One Night, and it truly did not disappoint!
One Night is written with so many twists and such heart-racing, suspenseful tension, I think I forgot to breathe while reading several chapters. I especially enjoyed Cross' descriptive use of natural, atmospheric, and oceanic weather patterns in the Pacific Northwest that created even more anxiety and uneasiness to an already unsettling "night".
Not wanting to give any spoilers in my honest review, I will suffice to say that the description of the book given on both #NetGalley and #Goodreads isn't, well exactly 100%...
Thank you to NetGalley and Georgina Cross for allowing me to read the ARC kindle copy of One Night.
This book was not on par with her previous books. Had I not known better, I would have sworn this was not written by her. The book is one llllllllloonnnnnnnnnngg night, and in turn a very long drug out book. It was not interesting to me at all. I skipped to the back to see what really happened. Can't say I was surprised by the ending. I hope this is just a small setback and her next books are amazing!
Another great book from Georgina Cross!!! I have read all of her books and I think One Night is my favorite!! I started and finished this book in 1 day. 3 sisters....the oldest Meg is the "golden child" and knows it. She is a bully to her sisters, does no wrong, and always gets her way. One Night at a party Meg loses her life in a creek, Cal her boyfriend is found guilty and sent to jail for 10 years. Now he is out and everyone is invited to one night at a beach house to learn the truth of what really happened to Meg. This book will keep you on the edge od your seat, constantly thinking you know who did it and then finding out your wrong until the very end!! Do yourself a favor and pick this book up!! I recieved an ARC copy from netgalley for an honest review. I will be purchasing the physical book when it comes out !!
This was a fast paced, tense, drama filled thriller. So many twists and turns.
This book grabbed me from the start. I enjoyed the creepy, intense, and eeriness of this story. And the psychological analysis of this batshit crazy, broken, traumatized family members.
Speaking of the characters. None of them seemed very likable except for Bella the dog. This was intentional though as this book is a who dun it type book so everyone minus the dog had there issues.
If you like family drama, locked in a cabin during a storm type book this is a book you will love. Completely recommend.

If you had the chance to take the ultimate revenge on the person who killed your daughter, what would you do? It’s been ten years since Meghan was murdered. Her boyfriend< Cal has served just 10 years in prison for the crime and now he’s been released. Meghan’s family has received a letter telling them to meet on a clifftop to learn what really happened to their daughter, but when they get there, they find Cal unconscious behind the wheel of a crashed car. A huge storm leave the family cut off with the man they believe murdered their daughter, a man that’s already gravely injured. Let him die, or let him live so they can hear what really happened all those years ago
