Do you like logic puzzles? I didn't realize I did until now! I’m always game to try something different, and this book was a lot of fun. That said, it got harder with each section and I got stumped before the end of the book. There is a story as you go along in the book to tie the puzzles together, and I loved the humour!
Deductive Logico (our intrepid detective) faces a series of 100 mini-mysteries to solve. We get to help him out as he sleuths his way through:
Elementary: Fun, easy puzzles. They got me thinking but I quickly deduced I’d be able to move on to…
Occult Medium: Definitely more concentration required here, but they weren’t too hard if I paid attention. I couldn’t do them in my head, as the book suggested as a challenge. I moved through to…
Hard Boiled: Ok, I did one of these, thinking “I’ve got this.” But no, the puzzles were quite difficult and stumped me. That said, my sleuthing spouse was able to solve them! I took a look at…
Impossible: I’m going to confess: I didn’t try these as I’m not smart enough. But maybe you are!
This is a great book for whiling away the time, and it’d be great on an airplane! Also, it would be a fantastic gift book for the puzzle-lover in your life. It reminded me of the time long ago when I did the LSAT test to get into law school (which I never pursued, maybe because I’m not that great at logic puzzles!). The book is inspired by the author’s website at murdle.com, where you can sign up to solve daily puzzles. I may just do that, because it’d keep my mind sharp, something to add to my daily crossword habit.
The only thing I’d suggest about this book is to pick up/order a physical copy as it’s handy to be able to mark in the grids provided rather than print them out all the time.
Happy logic puzzle solving!

A fun take on a different kind of puzzle book. I honestly think I would enjoy this more with a physical copy instead of the e-book version. It is not very well put together to be able to read and blocky. I may give this one another chance with a physical copy once available to buy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 STARS
Puzzles mixed with a dose of mystery makes Murdle: Volume 1 a definite winner! I enjoyed attempting to solve each puzzle—from the fairly easy ones to the most challenging. I think I would've preferred to complete the puzzles in the actual book, but I made do with using a separate notebook.
I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press with providing me an early copy of this book. Murdle: Volume 1 by G.T. Karber is a MUST read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!

Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and G.T. Karber for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
I love these types of games so this book was really fun to work through! My only "issue" was the ebook format, I think I would've enjoyed it more with a physical copy but this was still fun and will recommend it to my friends who also enjoy these types of games! 4 stars for me!

Such a fun book! I love playing the daily games online and this book was so much fun to do. I love the format of the games and how quick yet challenging they are.

This was a really fun Murder mystery activity book! I enjoyed solving the puzzles and working through each of the who-dun-it’s. My only complaints are that I am a tactile person so the ebook wasn’t really my favorite format. Some of the digital pages were confusing to read through. If it would’ve been a physical book that I could write in I would’ve love it so much more.

Dear Murdle, where have you been all my life? Thank you, NetGalley, for granting me early access to this addictive collection of fun mini-mysteries to solve.
A challenging and fun way to improve sleuthing skills, a wonderful addition to the mystery genre and my gift recommendation for the murder/crime obsessed.

Murdle: Volume 1 is a fun set of mystery logic puzzles. Placing the reader in the role of detective, the book is arranged by difficulty and felt like a game of Clue without the need to wait my turn. This book will release at exactly the right time, at the start of summer. The puzzles in this book start easily so that any level of logic solver could dive in. While I previewed an electronic copy of this book, I think this is a book that would benefit from a physical copy. A perfect beach or cabin companion for your favorite puzzler. Thank you to St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the early copy!

Murder mysteries + logic puzzles = Murdles = FUN!!!
100 puzzles, progressing in difficulty--Elementary, Occult Medium, Hard Boiled, and Impossible. With the former two, you must determine suspect, location, weapon. In the latter two, motive is added. All 100 seem to be related in some way and build upon each other as you work toward solving the final mystery.
Initially, I'd hoped to solve the puzzles using a notebook, but the logic grids included in the book are too time consuming for me to recreate x 100. Have pre-ordered the book and look forward to jotting my notes in the margins and working the puzzles/solving the mysteries.
Thanks to NetGalley & St. Martin's Press for the ARC e-book. Publication date is Jun 13, 2023.

If you're really into logic puzzles with a murder theme then boy is this the book for you. This is the perfect book to buy and just put on your coffee table and pick up every so often. This is a great gift for your friend who loves puzzles and may be a more thoughtful gift than a standard puzzle book because there's more to it. Pro tip, don't do this when you're tired.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Obsessed. I used to love these logic puzzles as a kid. I really liked that it had funny tidbits added to solving the puzzles. Really fun!

The concept of this book is awesome, but unfortunately it was not compatible with my kindle. I was not able to view the grids and just saw a blank grey square instead.

I am a big crime fiction fan and one of my favourite things about the genre is when I get to play detective. Murdle is the perfect collection. of Murder Mystery / logic puzzle games and I can't tell you how much time I lost trying to work out the answers! I loved the fact that each individual puzzle was linked and because of this it felt like a novel with added tasks rather than just a puzzle book.
Murdle is also quite deceiving - from the amusing name and fun cover design it would be easy to dismiss it as more of a novelty book but let me tell you - the mysteries and puzzles are hard to solve, AND, they get harder as you make your way through the book.
So much fun, Murdle would make a great gift for fellow crime enthusiasts!

This book is so fun! It is the perfect puzzle game and so addictive. I sat and played these puzzles for hours as I listened to podcasts. I can't wait for more of these puzzles!

I enjoy puzzles and mysteries, so I found Murdle: Vol 1 really entertaining. The book contains logic puzzles that get increasingly harder throughout. I like how the book had a over arching story to go with the puzzles. It made this more than just random puzzles. I got a great sense of accomplishment when I solved a puzzle, especially as they became bigger and more complicated. This would be a great gift for puzzle lover.
Thank you NetGalley and St Martin Press for the advanced readers copy. This is my honest review.

** “The murderer will always lie, and the other suspects will always tell the truth.” **
As its subtitle (“100 Elementary to Impossible Mysteries to Solve Using Logic, Skill, and the Power of Deduction”) indicates, “Murdle: Volume 1” by G.T. Karber involves increasingly difficult mysteries to solve, starting with fairly easy and gradually ending with much more challenging puzzles.
“Murdle” follows mysteries solved by Deductive Logico, allowing the reader to also solve each of his short mysteries. With titles like “Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, for a Jerk Just Died,” “The Body in the Moonlit Ruins” and “UFO, What’d You Know?,” the stories create a storyline following Deductive Logico’s career.
The mysteries also include intriguing characters — like Dame Obsidian (“a mystery write whose books have sold more copies than the Bible and Shakespeare combined”), Captain Slate (“a real-life astronaut. The first woman to travel around the dark side of the moon, and also the first to be suspected of murdering her copilot”) and Chef Aubergine (“It is said that she once killed her husband, cooked him, and then served him at her restaurant. It’s not true, but just the fact that it’s said about her tells you something”) — and fascinating locations, like the Investigation Institute (“a recently founded organization that investigates spiritualism and other related phenomena”) and a Potentially Haunted Mansion (“people keep seeing ghosts here, especially around the furnace in the basement”). They also include intriguing weapons, like a cauldron, a ghost detector and a skeleton arm.
Utilizing logic puzzle charts to solve, I would not recommend reading this book in e-reader form, as you need to mark the puzzle charts to solve each short mystery. As the difficulty increases, the puzzles add more characters, locations and weapons, as well as motives, to make the puzzles harder to solve.
To assist readers in their quest, the book ends with hints for all 100 mysteries, as well as the solutions.
Fans of mysteries, characters like Sherlock Holmes, authors like Agatha Christie, and logic puzzles will love “Murdle: Volume 1,” which is due out June 13.
Five stars out of five.
St. Martin’s Griffin provided this complimentary copy through NetGalley for my honest, unbiased review.

This is such a fun puzzle book to work through that really gives you a run for your money. It is well explained and ordered from easy to devilishly hard! You are given a handful of facts about the people, locations and items, then you are given a few short clues and you get to figure out the whodunnit of the mystery! Very clever!
The digital format is VERY difficult to work with I do have to say. I worked a couple of puzzles and moved throughout the book and realize it's best done to have the actual book in hand. Will probably purchase to work on more of these with the kids! Great for summer and vacation downtime!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the e-copy of this book.

I’m a huge fan of puzzles, but was not familiar with Murdle until this book. It was easy to figure out how to play though and I found the mysteries to be challenging and fun. I’m definitely a Murdle fan now!
The only issue I had was with the ebook formatting. It made it difficult to navigate, reference clues, and the pictures didn’t show up. I imagine this won’t be an issue for print copies though.
*I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book*

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for gifting me an early copy of this book. Below is my honest review.
I love logic puzzles, and this book was a lot of fun. The mysteries are quick and somewhat challenging. My only gripe is that it's difficult to read this one in the ebook format. The solutions are at the end (without links set up to jump around), and they're one right after the other, so you can easily see the solution to the next one on accident.
Otherwise, it's a fun book full of great mini-mystery logic puzzles, just like the Murdle daily puzzle website.

I thought this was so fun and would absolutely be a great gift. I downloaded this to take with me on a flight and I was able to work on part of it on the way to my destination and also on my return flight. It was a nice way to wake up my brain.
I will note that the formatting of the copy I was sent made it harder to interact with and more difficult to experience the sleuthing. But I know that the formatting will be resolved before the final edition is published, so I won't let that affect my rating.
