I didn't get what I expected from this book, it looked to be funny but it was more punny, one of the characters I didn't really take to so i think this spoils a book if you cant relate or appreciate someone, not great for me

Didn’t think I’d ever hear the worlds menopause and murder put together 😂
I don’t know of this ever happening in real life but I can picture this book being an episode on Law & Order SVU
Definitely held your attention very well.

DNF. Any book that starts discussing politics within the first few pages is a no for me. I read fiction to tune out the constant back and forth of the media and the world so I certainly don't want it brought into my greatest pleasure.

Unfortunately it is a DNF for me. I think there might be some aspects of relatability for the right audience and I think at this time, that's just not me (a bit young to understand Debbi). I do love that the author has written a book that appears from what I've read to deal with what some difficult and sensitive times for some women, with a humouress spin at times. 3stars as it's the happy middle where I can't form a view not having finished. I will not include a rating on Goodreads.

Not as satisfying as I wanted it to be.
This was definitely askew of what I thought or hoped it would be. It thought it was supposed to be humorous in a dark kind of way which is usually fun. There was no humor, only dark and somewhat depressing. This took forever to get started and at many times it dragged on and on. It was over 500 pages but could easily be edited for content to decrease it by at least 75 pages or so.
I became increasingly annoyed by Debbi. However, I am glad that she grew from her mousy self to a bit more assertive. Her over top and repetitive menopause horrors grew tiresome rather than sympathetic. The authors' note at the end of the book says it all: "you’re supposed make your main character as miserable as possible!" They succeded.
Her husband was an Axxhole with a capital A, as he is supposed to be. He is a slobby, arrogant, chauvinistic, jerk whose attitudes toward his wife, girlfriend (which I'm not sure how he got), and to women in general are something out of the 1940s or '50s. Women should be in the kitchen, have a hot meal on the table when he gets home, should not be a peer in the workplace and definitely not in a supervisory role.
The murders started with accidents but further incidents became improbable and somewhat ridiculous. That was frustrating but even worse was how many times I had to hear both of them talk about Donald Trump. I wanted to scream. I read to get away from world problems, if I wanted to read political opinions, I would read a book knowing it would become political.
I drudged on through this book just to see how the writers would get Debbi & Jerry out of the messes they wrote them into.
The epilogue was definitely unsatisfying and also set the scene for a possible second book. Please, no. I was really disappointed overall and did not enjoy this book as much as I wanted to.

As a woman going through the menopause, i found this book absolutely hilarious. it described so many things that is going on with me perfectly. This book was funny inspiring and I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved it. The author needs to write more books about menopause and women living through it. Thankfully this book has inspired me to go natural for my own, goodbye to those hot flashes in the middle of the night.

I highly recommend this book to every woman on the planet, whether you are going through menopause or not. I loved reading it.

This book I could not finish. When it started it was during trumps inauguration and the women’s March. I knew it would be to political for me. I stopped reading. I want to be entertained and don’t want current events in my books. If I want current events I will grab a non fiction book or watch the news

Wildly Humorous..
Debbi Dickerson feels her life is done but when menopause hits she is about to turn it all around as amidst the daily, endless struggles she is about to find the one thing that just may help. Jerry Dickerson, husband to Debbi and frustrated homicide detective, is completely insensitive to his wife and so completely wrapped up in his own world, his own ambitions and considers himself an ultimate martyr. A strange series of murders is about to commence - let the bodies pile! Wildly humorous, dark comedy highlighting those pressures of life which need to be discussed amidst the poignant tale of a woman losing her sh**.

I chose this book because of the title. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but I certainly wasn't expected what I got! Spoilers ahead.

When Debbi starts getting menopause symptoms, all her world gets turned upside down. Suddenly, in a rage and withour realizing what she was doing, she kills a man, and then discovers that killing makes all her uncomfortable feelings go away. This gets her on a killing spree. At first, I was kind of rooting for Debbi, then I was not so sure I was ok with her getting away with everything she did.
At the same time, her husband, who is closed-minded, fails to acknowledge what she's going through. He doesn't change a bit, he just gets more stubborn. He's also comitting a crime of his own, but he does get punished for it at the end.
Debbi's friends are a nice bunch, I would have liked to know more about them, too.
The book was fun to read, and it kept my interest from beginnign to end.
This book surprised me in a really good way.

A complex and funny story
I loved how interesting the book is we really learn a lot about menopause. It's even a little bit scary. I was surprised all along the book and the characters was very well developed and nuanced. The downside is that sometimes I found the book a bit long. And surprisingly the ending was a little short for me.
I also loved how the individual story was a parallel to the society story ( the book takes place in 2017 during the first year of trump election)

A dark story for sure. I found it a little unbelievable that menopause would cause a women to become a serial killer but hey the world is certainly crazy these days! I see a limited audience for this story. But the mystery was good. Thanks#netgalley and #BooksGoSocial for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Not for me, I'm guessing it was supposed to be funny the doc looking smug and the husband having no idea what he's up to, apart from complaining about the quality of his bacon and him being overweight.., complaining about his female boss. Nope, not for me.

Loved this book, it was very descriptive of menopause, a quiet woman who literally loses the plot with a cheating husband, who just happens to be the detective on the job, loved it, excited to read more books from this author

I just reviewed The Menopause Murders by Mary Maloney, Ed Markel. #TheMenopauseMurders #NetGalley

A comedy thriller about a menopausal woman, her cheating detective husband and a serial killer. Overlong, my British sense of humour did not quite get the comedy.

The storyline sounded interesting, but it was so slow getting started that I gave up after 9 chapters, as still nothing had happened at that point, save continuous complaining about menopause symptoms

The Menopause Murders
by Mary Maloney, Ed Markel
This was a good read. Funny in many spots. When menopause hits Debbi Dickerson: a mousy, codependent housewife who, at age forty-seven, feels her life is over. She refuses to take meds for the symptoms, Then anger with hot flashes starts to turn her anger into rage. She becomes like Ted Bundy killing men for her reasons. But they started it men.
Jerry Dickerson, Debbi’s husband: arrogant, insensitive, all-around jerk, whose greatest dream as a homicide detective is to catch a serial killer and be admired, for once. So when a series of strange deaths break out in Tacoma, Washington, Jerry is elated, but the pressure is on to catch the killer. Jerry is what starts the first blow to men by Debbi. He has his own demons to keep up with, so wild ones he is hiding.
I totally enjoyed this book. The ending is where you end the book book. READ IT
