This book is too similar to "When We Cease to Understand the World" for me. The book certainly made me interested in the cast of characters, which inevitably led to me reading up on their Wikipedia pages. The text in the book was very similar to what I could find on Wikipedia and I didn't find it to be very creative or unique.
My god. Exceptional. It is both a continuation of the project of his first book and something new; formally more daring and also more traditional. And the aim, this time around, is nothing short of the most timely possible subject: computers, artificial intelligence, and the unimaginable hubris of human beings. It is impossible to read this book and not feel scared, not feel shaken -- and what a goddamn incredible gift that is.
