Climb every Mountain
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher of this book for providing this eARC.
An excellent guide to hiking the most challenging mountain hikes of: New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.
This guide is excellent, it includes all the information you need to make your hike successful and safe.
Each hike lists what should bring and wear at a minimum, to ensure that you are prepared (including if the unexpected happens and you end up unable to continue, due to injuries for example).
Provides extensive information, and top-quality photos that not only give you a glimpse into the author hiking the trails she is writing about, these personal photos added warmth, fun and "friendliness" to the guide.
Detailed information is included and one particular thing I appreciated is the specific information regarding supplies such as jackets, shoes, and sleeping bags; specific makes and models are listed, which I found uniquely time-saving and helpful, MUCH more useful than 'a jacket rated to 32 degrees Fahrenheit and above' for example. By naming specific brands and items that work well for each time of year, the authors removed a LOT of guesswork and time-consuming web searching necessary to ferret the information out on your own.
A top-quality, well thought-out, comprehensive guide that you can depend on and use to ensure your hikes to the included locations are safe AND comfortable (for those of us who hike, a great trip can be quickly ruined if you are physically uncomfortable and miserable when you are only half-way through the hike).
Until next time, you can find me on the trails!
This was a fun and interesting book about climbing the mountains of the north eastern region of the US. All are over 4,000 feet. There are great pictures, maps, tips, and stories. Even though I have no plans to go in the near future, it was a great escape and enabled me to imagine going and doing these hikes. Maybe some day! Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. It was enjoyable.
