It has been really challenging to summarize this book. There is a little bit of everything here! Reading it was a bit like going on an exploratory hike: I wasn't sure what new fact or story I was going to stumble upon in the coming pages.
There is a deep history of human settlement, geological features, wildlife, insects, plant life, and geography. It's also written in a first person, casual style that feels like you're reading an explorer's autobiography. This was an interesting and enjoyable read!
I misunderstood the description of this book. I thought it was about woods and trees generally, but it is about a track of woods in PA. It seemed more like a travelogue than anything else. I thank NetGalley and Roman and Littlefield for the advance read.
Pictures and photography of trees, plants, and woodlands in various states. A great research book showcasing the tiny details of nature.
This book is filled with passion for a place, an escape, a sanctuary. The photographs offer a glimpse into the seasons and secrets of this place. It definitely makes me want to visit this place and fall in love with nature. This is a book I will visit time and time again.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
