Wait I loved this one.
It was my first Seraphina Nova Glass, and I fell in love.
I cannot find this review anywhere. Is this a fever dream?
Regardless 10/10 I remember that and I remember being immediately hooked.
Some strange things are going on in Rock Harbor, Maine.... Grace has been dealing with a harrowing experience from her past. As a result, she's jumpy, suspicious of everyone, and prefers to be alone. Kira's daughter is missing. She's been searching all over for her and will follow any potential lead she can find. Aden's mother just called him in a panic saying that his father is missing. Is this another instance where his mother forgot about one of his father's fishing trips? Or is his father truly missing, and is his disappearance connected with the others in Rock Harbor?
The Vanishing Hour is a quick and suspenseful read. I love when a story eventually connects the main characters together. The author held my attention throughout the book and I really wanted to see how it would end. Some of the ending went a little beyond what I could believe, but overall I enjoyed this one. I'm definitely going to check out more books by this author.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of The Vanishing Hour in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
The Gist
Seraphina Nova Glass’s The Vanishing Hour is a thrilling, atmospheric page-turner. It
masterfully combines psychological suspense with emotionally gripping drama. From the moment you open the book, you are thrust into a tense, chilling narrative. It keeps you guessing until the very end.
The Details
Glass’s ability to craft complex, layered characters is one of the novel’s greatest strengths. The protagonist, Grace, is immediately relatable. Her vulnerability as she navigates both her troubled past and the unfolding mystery adds depth to the story. As the tension builds, Glass skillfully peels back the layers of Grace's life, revealing hidden traumas, deep fears, and startling truths.
The pacing of The Vanishing Hour is superb. Each chapter ratchets up the suspense. The cleverly plotted twists leave you second-guessing what you thought you knew. The way Glass intertwines multiple timelines and perspectives. It only adds to the novel’s intrigue, creating a narrative that feels rich and immersive.
Set against the backdrop of a small coastal town, the novel’s moody, evocative setting enhances its sense of danger and isolation. The eerie atmosphere and well-drawn landscape become almost characters themselves. They heighten the stakes as the plot races toward a shocking, satisfying conclusion.
The Vanishing Hour explores themes of guilt, loss, and redemption. Glass brings these emotions to life with raw honesty, making for a story that’s as emotionally resonant as it is suspenseful. Fans of thrillers will appreciate the novel’s smart, well-executed twists, but it’s the human connections and emotional depth that truly set it apart.
The Verdict
Overall, in The Vanishing Hour, Seraphina Nova Glass proves herself once again as a gifted storyteller who knows how to keep readers hooked until the final page. This novel is an absolute must-read for lovers of psychological suspense and mystery.
The Vanishing Hour is a tale about...exactly that. A time period where there have been disappearances that have occurred in the same location within a community in Maine. The plot has an element of the supernatural to it. The book is written from different perspectives and has great dark atmospheric vibes.
Recommend this one!

Finally got around to reading this one (after struggling through the formatting)! The multiple POVs were hard to keep track of at times. Overall the story was good but I kept getting lost.
3.5⭐
Genre ~ psychological fiction
Setting ~ New York & Maine
Publication date ~ May 30, 2023
Publisher ~ Harlequin Trade Publishing
Est Page Count ~ 298 (43 chapters)
Audio length ~ 8 hours 28 minutes
Narrator ~ Brittany Pressley
POV ~ single 1st & dual 3rd, present tense
Featuring ~ missing girls and old men
Kira's 19 year old daughter, Brooke, is missing. 1st person POV
Grace went missing when she was a teenager, but escaped. 3rd person POV
Aden's 73 year old father is missing. 3rd person POV
Why with the POV's this way? I prefer consistency. There's a bit of amateur sleuthing going on that gets a little crazy at times. Kira acted like I'd expect of a frantic mother searching for her child.
Overall, it's not at all shocking really, but I found it to be really fast paced after a bit of a slow build up.
This was haunting and atmospheric. It blended mystery with elements of the supernatural. A woman grapples with loss and a mysterious disappearance. There were many expected twists, and I really enjoyed this book.
This was a very good book that I could not put down. I love mystery and thrillers and I have added her as an author to be on the lookout for.
Book Review:
Title: The Vanishing Hour
Author: Seraphina Nova Glass
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4 stars
I am getting so far behind on my reviews! I'm sorry! My full-time job is taking over my life and mental state, BUT it's going to get better! I read this back in August of 2023, and I have no recollection of what it was about, and I hate that. Clearly, I rated it four stars, so it must have been good! 🤣
Here's a summary.
In the town of Rock Harbor, Maine, the locals have labeled the time of 10pm as "the vanishing hour." It's highly recommended that you avoid an area called "the Strip." Several people that have gone missing were last seen here. When 19 year old, Brooke Everett goes missing, her mother, Kira, is determined to trace her last steps and to get answers. Grace Holloway was once one of these missing persons and might hold the key to solving what is happening to these individuals who have disappeared, including Brooke. Grace looks eerily similar to Brooke but is hesitant to help because of the fear of her life becoming upended again. I do remember this now as I'm typing this review! Yay! My memory is back! Get ready for a twist! This book was suspenseful!

Thank you, @netgalley and @harlequinbooks, for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This book kept me on my toes throughout the entire story. I enjoyed the multiple narrator perspectives and structure of the story.
This story had very good character development with three main characters who cross paths through their trauma. You have Kira whose daughter is missing, Grace was a missing girl herself and Aden whose dad is missing. Each character uncovers dark truths about their loved ones and really makes you question each persons role in the disappearance.
Overall, I really enjoyed the mystery of this book.
Let me wipe my tears from my eyes and pick my jaw up off the floor to attempt to write a review for this amazing, heart pounding, twisty book.
I had no idea going into this book what to expect but I definitely wasn't expecting all of that. This book gripped me from the very beginning and I couldn't stop reading. I'm ashamed to say the only other book I've read by this author I rated very poorly but this book is one of the top thrillers I've ever read. And one of the few thrillers to ever make me cry.
It was full of so many twists that multiple times I thought I knew the bad person but every single time I was wrong. The relationships in this book pulled at my heart strings, not the romance type relationships, but the friendships. Random strangers thrown together to help find missing people and figure out who the bad guy was, ugh, I loved all of them.
I don't think I'm adequately giving this book the praise it truly deserves. Just know if you want a twisty, crazy thriller with multiple POVs that are all likable, please pick up this book. I will now be reading all of the author's other works and you'll probably be hearing me sing the praises of those as well.
I loved this book! It's well-written, enjoyable, and a great read. The author did a great job of writing in a way that captures the readers attention, and makes you not want to put it down until you're finished! I would highly recommend it!
A deep rooted layered exploration of a mother trying to find her daughter, a son searching for his father and a survived victim trying to hide from the outside world
"The word missing is always bold and red"
So you know those dramatized crime stories you can watch on Lifetime? Yes? Okay well this book felt exactly like one of those. Your given the cast of characters that are searching for answers, following every lead presented to them with intensity growing and growing. You just get so swept away by the emotions, possibilities, and the need for answers. And before you know it your sitting on the edge of your seat screaming about how you know who the villain is, when in reality you can't place direct blame towards any one individual because so many possible suspects are presented. Until that big reveal comes around and the obvious smacks you right in the face. LEAVING YOU BREATHLESS.
It's fast moving, thrilling, dramatic and all around a great time. NOT GONNA LIE you should really go read it.
A huge thank you to Seraphina Nova Glass, @graydonhousebooks @harlequinbooks and @netgalley for the advanced invitation to visit Rock Harbor and the chance to get my sleuth on. I had the best time and I cannot wait for what's about to go down in the vacant room 10.
I love this author and this books was not different. I would recommend this book to anyone. If you need a good thriller
I Love Seraphina Nova Glass. I picked up one of her books at Walmart with low expectations, but stayed up all night reading it. This one was just the same. I was fully into it, I was guessing "who dun it" until the end. I am still a fan of Seraphina til the end!
This cover is gorgeous. It sucked me right in. I love a good thriller, especially one with a very likeable character. Tons of plot twists, I could not guess the end. I hate when I figure out the end of a thriller. I loved it!
Thank you Netgalley. This was a great read! The multiple POV storyline was very well done and kept me wanting more. Highly recommend
The Vanishing Hour is about a young woman with a past she wants to forget who suddenly finds herself in the center of a string of disappearances that force her to rejoin a world she tried to hide from.
This is an easy 5-star review for me!

The Vanishing Hour takes place in the quiet little town of Rock Harbor, Maine. We follow Grace, a kidnapping survivor who is trying to live a calm life and escape the tragedy that still haunts her eight years later. When multiple other kidnappings occur in the small town, Grace is thrown back into chaos, along with her secrets. Additionally, we meet two other characters. Kira, who is searching for her daughter, and Adam, who is searching for his father.
Told through multiple POV’s, The Vanishing Hour takes the reader on a ride full of suspense and plot twists. Though it does take a while to join all the stories together, I was engaged and captivated the entire time. While I didn’t love the ending, I did not predict the culprit, and who doesn’t love a good whodunnit!
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! This one was very hard to get into unfortunately. I had to DNF it because it didn't seem to go anywhere and the various POVs were very confusing unfortunately
