SYNOPSIS:
- Several stories are woven together about different folks, who have gone missing, in Rock Harbor, Maine. All were last seen in a shady area of town on Hemlock Lane.
- Of the missing, many include young, trouble women; many involved in drugs and sex work. Some simply are isolated & lack many family ties or money. Most recently, two older men have also gone missing, and it’s unclear if there’s any connection.
- The Vanishing Hour refers to this time block where people seem to go missing.
- The book focuses on the search for two of the missing folks: (1) a young woman (Brooke) and (2) an elderly man that’s also a preacher (Martin).
- Brooke’s mom, Kira, searches for her. Martin’s son, Aiden, searches for him.
- A survivor, Grace, also helps, as she survived an abduction of similar circumstances.
MY THOUGHTS
- I finished this in 24 hours. I loved how the stories all came together.
- The multiple POVs was an effective way to show everyone’s experiences.
- Satisfying ending.
- Chilling, gripping, fast-paced story.
- I liked all 3 of the main characters: Kira, Grace, and Aiden.
- Easy to empathize with the characters.
- I liked that the author wasn’t too graphic about the atrocious things that happened to many victims. It is easy for readers to infer, but appreciated not having to have to read in depth details.
- Looking forward to reading more books by Glass.
TL;DR: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5 stars. Read in 24 hours. Satisfying ending. Gripping, fast-paced, chilling.

MY REVIEW::
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
I LOVED this book. It kept my attention and intrigue from the beginning. I was hoping for a bigger twist at the end, but the book was still fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
It's told in 3 POVs that end up intertwining toward the end of the book. You'd never think they have anything in common, but yet they have everything in common. The differences in stories is what intrigued me the most, because how did any of this go together?! Yet it comes together beautifully in the end.
QOTD:: Have you ever been anywhere late at night that you shouldn't be?

Seraphina Nova Glass consistently keeps me guessing and her writing style jives so well with what I enjoy reading.
As expected, she offered up twists, turns and brilliant misdirection all while keeping me very entertained. There were several POVs but I had no trouble keeping them straight.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I've really loved the last few books I read by Glass. I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't as enthralling for me as her last.
The premise behind this book was intriguing and I liked the multiple narrators telling the story. There was a lot of great suspense and build up, but it didn't pull me as much as I hoped. I felt like I was trying to get through the book, but the book wasn't keeping me reading. There was a good twist, but it wasn't as shocking as I'd hoped. There were some plot holes in the story that felt obvious.
Overall, I would still recommend this book. It was good, just not my favorite of hers.
The Vanishing Hour by Seraphina Nova Glass is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about dark secrets and the lengths people will go to to keep them.
Grace Holloway is a survivor. Having narrowly escaped her kidnapper after weeks of captivity, she now lives quietly and nearly in isolation as the keeper at the Rock Harbor Inn.
But Rock Harbor is not safe. Several men and women have gone missing and they all appear to be linked to the same killer. Grace soon finds herself at the center of it all, and she may hold the key to the answers everyone is seeking.
Glass always knows how to keep the readers attention by providing a fast-paced, heart-racing thriller with a mix of likeable characters and some which we love to hate. You will question the motives of each character and will be shocked at the final twist. Another five star read!
After reading On A Quiet Street by Glass last year, she quickly became an auto read author for me and The Vanishing Hour did not disappoint. I read nearly 70% of the book in one sitting and was quite sad to have to put it down though I will admit, it was nice to savor the ending!
This book kept me guessing and also kept me on the edge of my seat. I had no idea how any of the pieces fit together and never really knew who I could trust.
I liked the use of multiple narrators and thought it added a lot to the story. I also liked that we slowly learned secrets and details about not only the missing, but our narrators.
I did have a few gripes with the story - like the fact that Grace still lived in the same town where she was abducted (felt very unlikely given her PTSD) and some other nits I won't share so as not to spoil anything - but all in all, I couldn't get enough! The story was well executed, the characters were complex and well-developed, and the plot totally kept me guessing.
If you enjoy a good mystery, I definitely recommend! No question I will be picking up more by Glass in the future!
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing, the Thriller Book Lovers Promotions, and NetGalley for the copy!
Kira’s daughter Brooke has vanished, but Brooke isn’t the only one missing.
I wanted to love this so much. I felt very confused during a good portion of reading which could have been intentional. I think there were too many holes in the plot and unanswered questions by the end. I found the multiple POVs as a hinder to the plot at times rather than an aid.
In Rock Harbor, Maine, young women are disappearing. They are there one moment and gone the next. The rumor is they go missing during “vanishing hour” in an area of town where the witnesses are scarce, and most people are asleep. The story is told from three different points of view. One of which is Grace, a young woman that takes care of an inn and has a haunting past. The other two are not mentioned in the book synopsis so I will not include them here to avoid spoilers.
I love books with multiple POVs that don’t seem to connect at first and then suddenly they connect. Seraphina Nova Glass does just that in this book. Each storyline goes in a completely different direction than I expected, then eventually they all come together in a way that is just perfect. This is a fast-paced, expertly woven thriller and that’s exactly what I’ve come to expect from Nova Glass. I highly recommend it to anyone that also likes complicated thrillers. This one is jaw-dropping and will have you on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait to read Nova Glass’s next book! 4/5 stars.
This book completely took me by surprise! It had a nice element of mystery and romance. and it kept me wondering and guessing throughout. I did enjoy the big twist! and most of the characters were very well written and thought out. This book would be excellent for a book club or a buddy read! Lots of topics to discuss.
I loved this! After reading On A Quiet Street I had high expectations.
This was the perfect mystery - just enough characters to keep you skeptical of each one, but not too many that its overwhelming. Loved the multiple points of view and the story always had something going on - was never dragging. Super short, to the point which I like as well. Highly recommend - a perfect thriller to keep you on your toes, and nothing that really makes you roll your eyes like its so far fetched.
Characters were likable enough too, none that particularly annoyed me or make me not want to root for them.
This was a good mystery that was easily digestible.
When Adens father goes missing, he finds himself in a web of missing people and the people that love them.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book, the characters, the mystery, the intertwined stories, the emotional content underneath it all. This is a fast read. I did not have things totally figured out before the ending reveal which is always the sign of a strong thriller for me! I was shocked at the ending. Highly recommend! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC
3.5🌟
Kira’s daughter Brooke has vanished. Kira will leave no stone unturned in her frantic search to
find her. Even if that means pointing a finger at those she loves.
But Brooke isn’t the only missing person in this small vacation town.
Told from multiple POV’s with concurrent storylines (my favorite kind of thriller) that merge for
(what a I hoped would be) an explosive ending...but fell just short.
I wanted to love this one as I’ve enjoyed this author’s work in the past. Unfortunately there
were too many instances that just gave me pause. Like a jig saw puzzle where all the pieces
don’t quite fit properly.
Each character suddenly had a moment that wasn’t consistent with how they were portrayed.
The ending just didn’t add up for me as well.
Since I’ve been a huge fan of this author in the past I’m chalking this one up to a one off and I’ll
be reaching for her next as soon as it’s available!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing
Seraphina Nova Glass is my new favorite writer. The Vanishing Hour is told by various narrators and made me question everything. This mystery/suspense kept me guessing and I was always guessing wrong. Highly recommend this one. Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this and provide an honest review.
Thank you to the author and netgalley for the chance to read this early.
Quick little pet peeve, I absolutely love multiple POVs but the different narrative styles 2 in third person and 1 in first person really threw me off and I still don’t understand why that was done.
This story was very intriguing but an extremely slow burn of a plot. I found my self enjoying the characters banter and the random sexual tension that was so unnecessary since we have a killer on the loose then the actual plot.
While I did figure out the twist, I wouldn’t say it was slap in the face obvious.
Overall, if you’re new to thrillers this is a perfect introduction to the genre and is dark enough to spook you but not incredibly intense.
Kira’s daughter Brooke goes missing in Rock Harbor. There’s been other young girls with similar looks wind up dead or missing. Kira uncovers many dark secrets in the search for her daughter.
Thanks NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC that will be released May 30, 2023!
Grace is hiding from her past but is forced to face it when many women are disappearing. Who is taking them? Could it be the same person who took her?
I loved this book. It was a page turner. I felt like I came to know each of the characters.
This novel from glass did not disappoint! I absolutely loved her last one - On a quiet Street and I just ate this one up as well. 10/10 would recommend - no one else is doing thrillers like her!
The Vanishing Hour - Seraphina Nova Glass
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC.
The main character in this novel, Grace, runs a small Maine inn, and she keeps to herself, not getting close to those who visit her establishment. What no one, other than Grace knows is that she has a secret, a reason to hold everyone at a distance.
As a series of girls continue to disappear from town, Grace's life quakes, as she realizes that she may need to break her silence. Even her isolation may be at risk, as she finds herself drawn to a gentle man who is staying at the inn during a quiet time of the year.
I love the way Seraphina Nova Glass writes, she is one of my favorites. This author posesses the rare gift of true storytellers, as reading her books imparts the feeling of a friend telling you a tale about an unusual event she experienced, and what could be better than that?
Giving this one 4 stars, it was as enjoyable as one would expect, however, I cannot help but find being a Innkeeper a contrary occupation for someone who is basically a hermit who doesn't want to encounter others. Strangers would be walking through her door almost daily, and that seems an unimaginable situation for someone seeking isolation.
Until next time...
If you can’t find safe haven in Rock Harbor…
I blow through psychological thrillers, left and right, but I found myself savoring this one. A woman hiding out seems to find more trouble wherever she goes. Is it her? Is it the Harbor? It kept me guessing, and well entertained.
Creepy seaside town beach read.
