I really loved Seraphina Nova Glass’ last book, but this one fell a little flat for me. It seemed to have a lot of unnecessary dialogue and details that I could have done without. The ending left something to be desired. Not the worse, not the best.

This book was a ride! I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. I did find that the ending wasn't my favorite but that's just a personal opinion. And it didn't tarnish my view of the whole book. It was an enjoyable time for any fans of mysteries.

I really wanted to love this one but I felt like there were too many instances where things didn’t quite fit or made any sense.
Also I just think the ending was a bit rushed and didn’t add up for me. There were still some elements of the story I did enjoy though, thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read The Vanishing Hour.

What a great roller coaster ride from this book. Three characters that will be bound together for ever, the son of a missing man, the mother of a missing girl and a woman who was once missing herself. Three different people going down this deep dark path to find the missing. Truly unbelievable end that sets this book apart for others. Thanks to NetGalley for my advanced reader copy. The book will be released on May 30, 2023. I suggest you get your copy as soon as it arrives. I now have to read the previous books by the author..

Thank you NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing & the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I love the cover is beautiful! I had to start this review off with that. I’m a lover of a good cover 🤌🏻.
This book was extremely well written. This has trigger warnings you may want to look into if that is something that matters to you, but I have yet to find something that bothers me. This books follows multiple characters who all have lost someone from Rock Harbor (thus the name of the book).
This book is a fast paced psychological thriller that took hold of my mind and my life and I sat and read this book start to finish. I couldn’t stop and I couldn’t help but feel like I was relating to Kira throughout the book. I will say—I never saw the ending coming.
This book is a 4 star for me and I will absolutely be purchased a physical copy to have on my shelf.

I was thrilled to be approved for this, so thank you to the publisher, Harlequin Trade, for this ARC!
After reading Glass' other novel, On A Quiet Street, which I gave 5 stars, I eagerly dove into The Vanishing Hour. However, for some reason, even though I enjoyed it, I did not like it as much. I enjoyed the setting in Maine. Glass' writing style immediately put me there. We follow Aden, Grace and Kira, all with three different story lines. I will admit that I got a tad overwhelmed by this, and it had a lot going on. Things did feel a bit disconnected to me for a bit. I did enjoy how everything came together eventually, though. There were a lot of twists that I did not see coming. 3.5 stars! Anything by Serpahina is now definitely an automatic must read for me.

#book50of2023 The Vanishing Hour by Seraphina Nova Glass I don’t usually read thrillers, but I need to read them more often! This was a fast read and a page turner for sure- I had to stop myself from trying to read ahead to see what was going to happen. In Rock Harbor, Kira is beside herself with worry because her teenage daughter Brooke has been missing for two weeks with no signs of her. Questioning everything and everyone she knows she is on a mission to find and save her daughter. Aden has just been called home to help his family search for his father who’s missing also. He decides to have his daughter stay at college while he goes home to Rock Harbor. Deciding to not stay at his already over-filled family home, he decides to stay at an inn. Grace is happy to be away from people, the news, society, everything so that she can escape the painful memories the way she escaped her vicious captor all those years ago. She unwillingly agrees to let Aden stay at the inn she runs and surprises herself with her fast friendship. This story weaves each character together seamlessly. I could not stop reading and finished quickly. The plot is pretty good and only slightly predictable (only slightly- I was not expecting the ending at all!!) #kristalreads
Thank you to #netgalley and #GraydonHouse for an advanced readers copy. This book was published May 30, 2023.

"The Vanishing Hour" was a missing persons thriller with a melancholy vibe that was peopled with empathetic and interesting characters.
Four young women and two elderly men have vanished from one of the town's seedier streets over the course of several years. All of them have disappeared between 10:00 and 11:00 pm - the press have coined it 'the vanishing hour'. Of these, two of the young women were later found dead, one escaped, and one is still missing... Of the two men, one has been found dead and one is still missing...
Grace Holloway is the one girl that escaped. Since her traumatic ordeal she has withdrawn from the world to insulate herself from further pain. She manages an inn on the outskirts of town, and lives there with her dog named Hobbes. Grace has knowledge that could blow things wide open - but her knowledge could have very dangerous repercussions and has to be told in a prudent way.
Kira Everett is the mother of the most recent missing girl. Desperate to find her beloved daughter she goes to extreme lengths to investigate her disappearance. Her daughter, nineteen year old Brooke, was a music student who fell in with the drug scene via a new boyfriend.
Aden Coleman is a widower and single dad. He is the son of the most recent missing man, seventy-three year old Martin Coleman. He tries to be a tower of strength for his distraught mother and needy brother, yet his fortitude is tested by his own worries and personal demons. Loathe to stay in his family home, he stays at the inn which Grace manages.
When Aden, Grace and Kira put their heads together, their tenacity is evident. Can they discover something the police have missed? What could possibly connect the murder of young women and elderly men?
There are several suspects that all sound plausible - yet the reader is stymied as to who it could be carrying out these atrocious crimes. With excellent characterization and descriptions, this novel was easy to visualize. The pace was steady and the narrators alternated between Grace, Aden, Kira, and Brooke.
The ending held a plot twist that I did not anticipate. In fact, the last chapters revealed a few plot twists that led up to, for the most part, a highly satisfactory ending.
This is the author's fifth thriller with another scheduled for publication in 2024. "The Vanishing Hour" was my first experience reading her work and I look forward to delving into her back-list when time permits. This is a memorable thriller that is sure to be appreciated by fans of the genre.
4.5 stars rounded up

This one is an enjoyable psychological thriller suspense read, although not my fav from this author.
What I like:
- It has a good premise. Missing persons case that starts from many years ago until present day and dissimilarity between the victims is pretty intriguing.
- the characters, it's multi pov, so it's kinda fun trying to pice together the clues from each pov.
- the plot, it's pretty solid, even though I guessed it correctly, I have my suspicion early on.
What I don't like:
- kinda slow, the pacing is so confusing.
- the conclusion is too convenience.
- lots of things that I found don't make any sense
- I super excited in the last few chapters but then there's that too convenient thing that got me a bit disapointed
Recommended: well this is not my fav, but still a solid and enjoyable read.

Thank you to the publisher, author and Net Galley for an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
I found Seraphina after reading On A Quiet Street last year. I loved it so much, I put it on the list for my sister to read this year as a part of our one book for the other person each month this year! After seeing that she had a new book coming out, I was so excited and The Vanishing Hour did not disappoint. The story follows three characters that all are related to the missing people in some way. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat not knowing who I could trust throughout the story and had me questioning who was on Kira's side and who was playing her. Kudos to Glass for slowly giving up secrets about the missing people and the narrators but leaving enough to not truly know what was truth until the end of the story. If you enjoy thrillers that you can't put down, this is the one for you!
TW: abduction, prostitution

One of my favorite authors for mixing dark and twisted elements with realistic emotionally complex characters who are relatable.
This one delivers that in spades! A mother is looking for her teenage daughter who goes missing in a bad area of town, that is notorious for girls going missing over the years.
This time though two older men go missing and they must find the link, before her daughter ends up dead.
This one kept me up all night as I was hooked from the start.

When I had the opportunity to read and review this latest thriller from Seraphina Nova Glass I couldn't wait to read it after enjoying On A Quiet Street as I did. The Vanishing Hour was everything I thought it could be after reading the synopsis.
The story takes place in Rock Harbor Maine, where once the vacationers leave, Rock Harbor becomes a quiet town with a reputation for people vanishing in the evening, hence the name The Vanishing Hour. She managed to get away from her kidnapper and lives as a recluse while managing the local inn. She is a survivor, but still harbors devastation from her time as a captive.
The story is told from three different points of view -- Grace's, Kira, the mother of Brooke, another missing girl, and Aden Coleman, the son of the missing Martin Coleman. There's lots of nasty stuff going on here, and it takes some time for the three points of view to merge such that the killer can be uncovered.
There are certainly twists and turns and some unexpected things going on, and the triple point of view almost clouds the real events going on. This is a slow walk to the killer's identity, with lots of dark content as you might expect from this type of story. No spoilers from me, but I did like how this all unfolded with secrets, lies and some small twists to bump the reader from the killer's trail.
The ending has the three protangonists struggling with "what to do" and I can't say that I was disappointed in the killer's final fate. I liked how that came together for all of the people involved.
So overall, another satisfying thriller. If you like a slow burn sort of suspense and trying to figure out the killer yourself, you might like this title. While it is a bit slow in parts, I did like how this story was presented and how everything turned out in the end.

What a thriller!!! Thank you so much NetGalley for the ARC. This story is told by 3 POV. Kira's whose daughter is missing and believed to be kidnapped. Grace who was once kidnapped but escaped from her capture. And Aden who comes back home because his Dad is suddenly missing. I devoured this book in 24 hours and the twist it took me on. I loved every minute of it.

Kira’s daughter, Brooke, goes missing in Rock Harbor, Maine on a strip downtown that is known to be less than safe. It’s known for prostitution, hard drugs, and young girls going missing after dark. The locals call it “the Vanishing Hour.” Brooke isn’t the first, and she won’t be the last young girl abducted, unless Kira and her unlikely group of misfits (Grace, Aden, Vinny) who also have a personal interest in this figure out who is behind this. And hopefully soon since Brooke’s life is on the line. Don’t underestimate what lengths a mother would go to in order to save her daughter.
The story is told in alternating POVs between Brooke, Kira, Grace, and Aden.
I enjoyed the twists in this one and blew through this in a matter of days. The ending was a surprise to me and I just love when stories make you feel and think a certain way and then completely psychologically flip it. Like when you’re rooting for a certain character for most of the book who turns out to be evil or vice versa. If a book makes you FEEL real feels for fake people, it’s a great book IMO! It was well-written and I enjoyed the alternating POVs and short chapters.
I went into this blind so I didn’t read the description until after I finished the book.. and I think instead of writing the synopsis from Grace’s perspective, it would make more sense from Kira’s (like I did above) or neutral POV. Writing from Grace’s perspective would have been a good option given her role in the book, but it wasn’t really written that way and I would’ve needed more focus on her in the book then.
This was my first Glass novel but it won’t be my last!
Thank you so much to Graydon House, the author, and NetGalley for the e-galley in exchange for an honest review!

I had never read this author until now. I was checking out the description and saw that the story was set in Maine, which is one of my favorite settings and I was already sold. Then I saw that the author is based in Arlington, Texas. So am I! AND she teaches at our local college! But back to the book..... I really enjoyed this one and it will not be my last from this author. Grace was lucky enough to have escaped a kidnapper. She is now an adult running an inn in Maine and wanting to be left alone. Girls start disappearing. What does Grace know?
We also have Aden. Aden's Dad has disappeared, so he returns home to Maine to help his mother. And then there is Kira. Her daughter, Brooke is also missing. Oh yeah, and someone is being held captive in a basement! How are all these characters connected? Who's in the basement? Why are girl's disappearing? Does Grace hold the key?
This was a great suspense-filled mystery. With well-developed characters and I did not figure out what was going on until the end. Now, about that end. There was a LOT going on and I could have done without the romance, but oh well, overall, I really enjoyed this one and am excited for more!

Good book! I loved the different POVs, and it really kept my attention throughout the storyline. The ending seemed a bit chaotic and rushed, and a few things didn't make sense, but overall it was a solid book.

I really enjoy Glass’s writing, and this one was no exception! This story is told from three seemingly unconnected POVs, but then they all come together eventually, and it is amazing. Kira’s daughter has gone missing, and Kira feels as though no one is taking it seriously enough. Kira thinks her disappearance is connected to the kidnapping and murder of other girls previously. Kira comes off as unstable as she questions and confronts people, but is relatable as a mother.
Aden’s dad has gone missing and he returns home to help his mother cope and to try and find his father.
Grace was the victim of a deranged kidnapper herself, but she managed to get away. Now, she is an anxious, paranoid adult who is running an inn and trying to keep her life on track.
There is also the perspective of someone who is being held in a basement, but the reader doesn’t know who this is. Is it Kira’s missing daughter? Is it Grace’s flashbacks? Is it even in this timeline or in the past?
Glass does a great job of casting suspicion on everyone, and I definitely found myself thinking one way one minute and another way the next. Either way, I definitely really enjoyed this fast paced read.

This book was beautifully written until the last 30%. 2/3 of the characters were well formed. This would have been a solid 5 star read if the ending didn’t take a nose dive. For me a thriller has no business trying to team up with a romance. It almost never works.

Kira’s daughter Brooke has vanished. Aden has a missing father. Grace was once a missing girl. Kira and Aden will not stop until they find their missing loved ones in Rock Harbor, Maine.
The characters were really well done in this! I honestly had no idea who the culprit was the entire time which kept me turning pages! I was invested in all of their storylines. The multiple POV’s I also really enjoyed. I was a little underwhelmed in the end but it wrapped up fine, many twists throughout so I was entertained! I’ll definitely read more from this author as I loooved On A Quiet Street! (3.5 ⭐️)
✨ Thank you Net Galley for providing me with a copy to read and review ✨

A serial killer survivor thinks she's escaped the horrors of her past only to notice new girls start disappearing reminding her of her own experience. This was a great cat and mouse, twisty serial killer tale. Great on audio narrated by my fav, Brittany Pressley. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review. This one kept me guessing til the end and had a shocking ending I didn't see coming!
