Wow! This was a terrific read. The writing was amazing. The ending I was not expecting at all, but it was great to see how some questions were answered. The characters Jenny, Kane, Jo, Carter , Duke and Carter’s dog were fierce characters who faced down unknown adversaries. I loved that everyone was a team player whose goal was to protect the people of their town. The book was very easy to read. I thought that it was an interesting and entertaining read.
Book eighteen in the Detective Kane and Alton series
And another brilliant read at that
These books keep you hooked from the first page to the last
A great series if you are looking for something new to read
Thanks NetGalley
Another gripping case in the series and it's always a pleasure to catch up with Jenna and the team for another case. This one is just as gripping as I've come to expect.
Book eighteen in this series featuring Casey Kane and Alton and their team. Fast paced and exciting but will keep you guessing.
Gosh I love this series of books, they just never get old. I think maybe my only complaint is that they are too short and it's too long between instalments haha. Now You See Me is book 18 in a cracking police procedural featuring Sheriff Janna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane, it's set in one of the most unfortunate areas called Black Rock Falls Montana. I mean it's serial killer central and you'd be a fool to move there, especially if you're a young woman..
There's a glut of missing persons in Black Rock Falls so we have the dastardly duo and their trusty sidekicks not to mention FBI Agent Jo And Carter are on the case. They pretty soon work out that they have a fruit loop in the area. I absolutely love their dedication to the cause, that everything takes a back seat to the investigations, although I have to say they do look after their animals especially Duke, who is one of my favourite members of the team.
One of the worst things about it is the time of year this takes place, we all think of Christmas as the happiest time of year but for this to happen mars the occasion for everyone. I found it interesting to see the story from the perspective of one of the victims, about her desire not to be the next of his bodies. It makes me wonder would I keep it together enough to make it out alive?
If you enjoy this then I think you might enjoy other authors like Patricia Gibney, Angela Marsons and Carol Wyer who all pen really good police procedurals.
Thanks to the author D. K. Hood, Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. All opinions are mine and mine alone.
Now You See Me by D.K.Hood is the 18th book in the police procedural Alton and Kane series. A well written novel with skillfully drawn characters , tension filled ,tightly woven plot makes this a great addition to the series. Looking forward to reading the next one!
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review
A really enjoyable read that kept me guessing g right up until the end and on the edge of ky seat most of the read
Book number 18 in the series. These books just keep getting better and better. Full of action, it keeps you on the edge of your seat guessing.
Another amazing book in this series, they never fail to disappoint. I’ve read several of these in a row now, I don’t know what I’ll do when I’ve finished!
This is the eighteenth book in the series featuring Sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband, Deputy Dave Kane. This is a great series and the latest book didn’t disappoint but reads well as a stand-alone. Jenna and Dave are trying to solve the case of a missing young woman, Maisie Jones who works at the Triple X bar in Black Rock Falls. Her abandoned car was found by the roadside and it had been tampered with and Maisie abducted. Jenna and Dave realise that she isn’t the only missing person. They are investigating the disappearance of a family and a local teacher and they begin to think that the same person could be behind all the abductions. But how are they linked and where are they being kept? This is a gripping read which will have you hooked. This series gets better and better and I can’t wait for the next book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Book for giving me the opportunities to read and review this book.
Jenna and her team are at it again this time a favorite female bartender has gone missing and then Billy. Each one is known and they won’t find them quickly. Yet when they find Masiey Jones's car the bartender Dave discovers it has been tampered with and so they are now sure she was taken. Looking for clues while dealing with other issues that come up for them continues to move this story along. A new character was added in the last book and she is still here in this one. I always like these books because you have to think and the clues really make everything stand out. Another good story and very much worth the read.
Another great read this whole series is addictive and I do love just disappearing into this universe. This never disappoints.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own
I’m always impressed by the situations that Jenna and Dave find themselves in. This one was really heavy on the creepy. I loved it though.
What did I like? The stories are always engaging and interesting. I really wonder where the author gets her ideas as this one creeped me out. Jenna and Dave are superb as always. The cast is getting pretty big but I enjoyed seeing where everyone is at.
Would I recommend or buy? I have a shelf for this series, just added the last two. I really love this series and I’m excited for the spin off! If you really want to be creeped out pick up this book! I loved it! I recommend the entire series! Five huge stars!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley to read and share my opinion! Fabulous book!
FANTASTIC series with great characters, loads of suspense in a very entertaining story line. RECOMMEND the whole series highly as they are all terrific!! Thanks to#NetGalley#Bookouture for #Now You See Me in return for my honest review.
Wow, I can't believe that this is already the 18th book in the series! I have read them all :)
It is nice to be back in "Serial Killer Central" with Dave, Jenna and the rest of the crew, even though this is one gruesome case! How DK Hood thinks of these scenarios is kinda disturbing in itself ;)
Seriously though, when young people go missing in Black Rock Falls, it seems that there are few clues to be found and with the snow falling and the discovery of young people going missing from an adjoining county as well, it is becoming even more urgent that law enforcement take all steps to solve the case.
Nice to see Carter, Jo and Kalo involved in this case, as well as Wolfe, of course.
Was this my favourite Kane and Alton? No, it was a bit slow in parts, I still don't know why the killer did what he did and the sections regarding Maisy felt a bit rushed, however, I will be looking forward to the next one for sure!
4 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.
I love a good crime novel trying to catch a serial killer. It always makes the stakes so much higher. I devoured this one. And I always like when you get to see a glimpse into the bad guys mind. I liked that Christmas was the backdrop of this one and it offsets the craziness knowing this time is for family and friends. And I love that Jenna and David are married now.
I love the team in this one and that new members can be introduced and seamlessly fit in. There were twists that kept me guessing. I agree that this can be read as a stand alone as I hate to admit that I have not read all of the series.
This is a perfect read for those that love crime novels. Another great addition to the series.
I just love this series and book # 18 doesn't disappoint! Jenna Alton is a former DEA officer who was placed in WITSEC and became the Black Rock Falls sheriff. David Kane, former special forces sniper, is her husband and deputy. Together they are faced with one of their most grisly and gruesome criminals yet. People (and families!) are being abducted in this isolated area and they must catch the killer. A riveting read.
I love when you get an "I didn't see that coming" and need to close the book for a minute to take it all in. This book has it and it is amazing. The ending was a little disappointing, I didn't think it fit with the rest of the story, but that's just me. Other than that this is a great read and I look forward to the next one.
This is the 18th book in the series and I just love this series having read from the very beginning. I enjoy the characters and I think that they fit well together.
Alton while not my favourite in the series and actually rated lower than I had ever thought always pushes her way through even when least expected.
Kane is my favourite character and for the main reason that he is powerful and has a heart of gold. He doesn't push things too far even though he could easily. What makes him so unique is that his background and his love really raises him from good to great.
Wolfe is my next favourite which I didn't expect but I always want more from this character as he must have loved such an interesting life and could easily have a series of his own.
The story imwas very good however not quite as compelling as some of the others in the series. Overall this book was very good and it has a lot of great points.
Seeing Jenna and Dave in action is always a high point as the love you can see they share and the partnership on the job is a great double team act.
I think adding in Wolfe is also great since he is such an interesting character. He brings a lot to the team and you see how he has the back of Jenna and Dave and always will.
The other officers are good characters as well and we will see more as time goes on in these books as to how popular they become or if they will show more promise than what they already have.
I used to love this series but I’ve been slowly falling out of love with it and I think this will probably be the last one I read. I’m definitely in the minority with this review but I really struggled to get through this one. I wouldn’t recommend reading this as a standalone because there are way too many characters to keep track of if you haven't read the rest of the series. Even I struggled to remember who was who sometimes.
My main gripe with this book was the dialogue came across as awkward. Everyone seemed to talk to the other charcters as if they were stupid. They all work in similar roles and don’t need the basics explaining as if they are naughty children. It was just weird. Jenna and Dave are also an odd couple. I feel like they were more coupley before they got together than they are now. As for the murder, the hunt was intriguing and I didn’t guess the killer but the ending wasn’t very satisfying. It felt rushed and kind of incomplete. It's not a bad read, just not for me. But if you love the series then you should probably still check it out because as I said, I seem to be one of the very few who didn’t enjoy it as much as the other books.
I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
