Secrets abound at Hydrangea House. Molly, in an attempt to honor her grandmother’s legacy, serves as innkeeper for one last summer.
She doesn’t really like it and some of the guests were very rude and trying. But will this summer change her life for good?
I liked the name and could see all the beautiful hydrangea blooming around the inn. They are one of my most favorite things about summer.
I didn’t care for Savannah for Most of the book and still didn’t think that highly of her by the end.
I’m glad the conclusion occurred as it did, but I was hoping for more permanency for Molly when it came to Matt.

I’m a big fan of Kirsten Harpers writing and her descriptions of the beach and coast line just outside the doors of Hydrangea House sounded magical. Molly was one of those characters you like immediately- feeling that she had to do something to keep the memory of her grandmother alive, volunteering to keep the inn running for that last summer seemed the obvious thing to do. I loved Molly’s honesty - running the inn was never going to be easy and her openness with the visitors was refreshing. A warm-hearted read which welcomes you in like a guest to the inn.

A dilemma over whether or not to maintain a family house as an inn sets the stage for this story. A old mystery comes to light, and it might just change everything. The story was quick and had a great premise. However, the major plot points fell a little flat for me. I would have liked more detailed descriptions and active scenes and less repetition of things already shared and explained. The 2 main characters were were inconsistent in their interactions with one another, and their relationship went from tense to reconciled with an almost unbelievable change of heart from one of them. Overall, this was not a favorite of mine. You will like this one if you like small town family dramas with a hint of romance.

“An absolutely gorgeous read about learning to trust, the meaning of home, and the importance of family.” This quote from the book blurb sums the book up perfectly.

I have absolutely loved this story, was pretty much drawn in from the very first chapter. The setting of Dune Island sounds so truly picturesque and idyllic, would loved to have been experiencing it myself for real. Adored getting to know all of the characters, learning each of the stories and seeing them all interact with each other.

The story was very well written I thought and the characters were wonderfully developed and so very real, they almost felt like real people at times, not just characters.

I’ve read a few of Kristin Harper books now and she is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. I always look forward to her next book when it comes out.

I always love books centered about B&B's and those that take place along a coast. I got both with this book. The story had a romance, a small mystery, family and lots of interesting secondary characters. I really loved this story of Molly, who is running the inn in honor of her passed grandmother. The stories of the guests at the inn were sometimes amusing and often frustrating for Molly just as they are in real life. Her family history was also a large part of the book. It makes for a very interesting story that I totally enjoyed.

Sometimes secrets are a good thing.

When Molly's grandmother dies and her boyfriend dumps her, Molly decides to volunteer as innkeeper at the Hydrangea House, the inn on Dune Island that her grandmother used to manage. Savannah, the descendant of the family who own the inn inherits it, and plans to close it. Molly convinces her to keep it open one more season.

Molly is intrigued when a elderly woman calls the inn, wanting to speak to the owner, saying she knows something important. Hazel, the woman, persists until Molly makes arrangements for Hazel to visit. The secret that Hazel reveals changes Molly and Savannah's lives forever.

This was a sweet small town novel, a bit of romance, a bit of family (and their squabbles) and a beautiful setting. I loved the idea of a cottage on premises that was rented at an affordable rate to disadvantaged families who otherwise couldn't afford it.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

My Grandmother's Inn takes is back to Dune Island for Molly's story. I love Kristin's descriptions of the sunsets over the water; I'd love to visit Dune Island. Molly is still grieving for her beloved grandmother who was the innkeeper of Hydrangea House where she was born; it was her vocation. The owner of the inn is Savannah whose grandfather was also born at the inn, on the same day as Molly's grandma. Molly agrees to be a voluntary innkeeper for the season to honour grandma B. She never could have guessed what would transpire. A fantastic read.

Oh fantastic! I love this series. They fill my heart with so much love. They are pure, wholesome stories from the heart.

I enjoyed seeing Molly try to step into her grandmothers shoes and be the inn keeper, realising that it was a lot of work and just how hard her grandma must of worked her whole life, yet still loved her job so much spoke volumes. Also the realisation that it just wasn’t something she could see herself doing long term, as fulfilling guests needs really annoyed her at times.
I liked how Savannah changed throughout the book, and how her and Molly were able to reconnect and clear the air about when they were teens and move forward as better people. Matt was great too, I loved his quiet devotion to Molly and how he listened to her, and also how he saw the truth in Hazel and her tale.
Ah Hazel. I loved her and Lauren bantering together, I loved the fact that she just had to put right what she knew had been done but being only a small child herself couldn’t do anything at the time. I was so sad when Molly got the call to say of her passing, but her mission had been accomplished.
A beautiful tale from start to finish, I couldn’t put it down.

To honor her grandmother, Molly convinces the Hydrangea House owner to allow her to keep the B&B open for one more summer before converting it to a private home. Grandma Beverly may have been the quintessential hostess, but Molly realizes she doesn’t love being an innkeeper or serving the guests. One elderly woman insists on coming to share a secret about the inn and the Frost family that owns it. And then there’s Matt, the oceanographer, who rouses Molly’s interest even though she doesn’t want to be interested. There’s always the fraught relationship with owner Savannah, which gets more and more complicated. What will Molly do when the summer’s over?

Oh what a wonderful book, a heartfelt and lovely read and one I do highly recommend. This is the story a grandmother and her Inn, about lose and memories and about not letting go of those things dear to you.

Molly wants to run the inn for one more year but things are not what they seem and secrets are revealed. This is a story of lose, secrets, trust, family and home. It is heartfelt yet heartwarming, it is happy and sad and best of all it is not too long and isn't padded out with over-descriptiveness.

A well written book with wonderful characters with all the emotions of life, love and lose. It will hold your attention and draw you in, taking you on the journey with Molly and that I do love in a good book.

Molly's grandmother was the innkeeper at Hydrangea House. When her grandmother passes Molly doesn't want to see the inn closed because it meant so much to the guests. So free of charge she becomes the innkeeper for the summer.
This would be a great beach read.

What a beautifully told story! I was captivated from the start and eagerly turned the pages all day long. The story flowed so seamlessly from scene to scene, that at some point I actually felt like it was really happening. Truly believable and enjoyable characters. The plot had everything you hope for in a great book - family, friendship, bit of mystery, and a sprinkle of romance. Highly recommend this story!

As I was reading this book, it just relaxed me. There is a lot going on in the book, but there is just something about a book with an ocean, that just sets the tone for relaxing.
Molly's grandmother, Beverly has been the manager of Hydrangea House, for many years and when her grandmother passes away, she convinces the owner to let her open it for one more summer. The owner agrees and Molly opens the inn. She realizes there is a lot more work involved than she thought. But she wants to do this to honor her grandmother. She gets a phone call from an elderly woman, Hazel, who saw the article about the inn closing and said the facts wasn't right. Hazel and her daughter came to the inn and told her what she remembered. It was an interesting mystery, Molly starts searching for answers, and as summer progresses, there are rumors and the inn is getting bad reviews.
As summer comes to an end, and the inn is closing, everyone has the answers and can move on, but I am not going to tell you how they move on, I highly recommend this book, It is amazing.

Loved the book although I hadn’t realised it was part of a series until I was away through it. Have since bought the rest via kindle and will read in full. Loved the story and it’s a book to just want to curl up on the sofa with lots of cups of tea and settle down to read and you won’t want to stop till it’s finished. My thanks as always to NetGalley and publisher Bookouture for the read for an honest review.

What a beautiful, warm, uplifting story by Kristin Harper filled with charming thoughtful surprises! It was pure delight to glide into My Grandmother’s Inn with such ease and curiosity. This book came along just at the right moment as it expressed and fleshed out so many dilemmas that I have observed around me recently. To see how the characters work out their issues and life changes and choices was encouraging. I had never read Kristin’s books before, even though I was intrigued by her covers, themes and titles. They appeared to be encouraging family stories that I’d truly enjoy and my assumption was correct! Even though my reading and writing schedule was chocked full, I decided it was time to dive in to her upcoming release. And I am so glad I did! Sincere thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for sending me a digital copy.

"A message sent with love always finds its way from one heart to another." Love always finds a way for sure. The message in a bottle theme has been appearing a few times this year in my reading. My Grandmother’s Inn is special for many reasons but its use of a bottle, in carrying a coded truth that could change many lives, is unique. The familiarity of the line was comforting, too. I remember as a child doing the same—putting messages in bottles and sending them out to sea, imagining where they might end up. But in this story the bottle and message are directed at one person: the father of an elderly lady who returns to the Inn many years later to share her story: a story that holds a secret she has maintained all her life. This secret has left a dark spot of guilt on her soul and she feels she must release it to the right person to clear her troubled conscience. And time is of the essence. The urgency is important for a few reasons but the main one is the Inn is about to close down. The Innkeeper has died and it has fallen to an heir that may or may not keep it.

There are two women in this story connected to Hydrangea Inn and grandmother Beverly. These women are polar opposites it seems or at the very least, very different in many ways: such as in personality, ambition and motives. But things are not quite as they appear and the uncovering of a truth will change everything. It may free one girl while enslaving another.

Dune Island is a tranquil get-away not only for the characters but the reader, too! It is easy to get lost in the colourful setting that surrounds the Inn. It is also a place where many happy memories have occurred for granddaughter Molly. But when her grandmother passes and the wealthy Frost owners seek to shut down the accommodation, Molly is determined to give its guests one last memorable summer to honour her grandmother’s memory. She makes it her mission to convince the owner, Savannah Frost, to keep it open a little longer. Molly proposes to take up the position her grandmother had as innkeeper but soon finds it is not as easy as Beverly made it look. Of course, there are rules and behaviours one must follow and avoidance of romance with any of the guests is one of them. But will this stop a budding relationship from happening? Oceanographer, Matt, is a gentle and positive soul who comes on the scene to stay at the inn, more as a border than an overnight guest. He appears sincere in his interest in Molly and in helping her solve a mystery. But is he as he seems?

I absolutely adored this novel. There is tension, drama, mystery, emotional depth and character growth. Family is at its core: what that means and how they shape our lives and even cause personal conflict within us when we are expected to follow in their footsteps whether we want to or not. My Grandmother’s Inn is an absolute gem and I am now dying to read the previous books in the series. Kristin is an accomplished writer who knows how to steal your heart with her fascinating characters and their family dramas. Pure, inspirational, positive fiction. I highly recommend this novel for any reading occasion or season. 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Grandmother's Inn, by Kristin Harper, was an enjoyable read. The characters were interesting and believable. There were secrets to reveal and enough romance and heartache to satisfy any reader. I have not read any of the previous novels in the Dune Island series, and so I cannot comment on how well My Grandmother's Inn fits into the series, but since this novel can function as a stand-alone book, it is not necessary for readers to have read Harper's previous novels, although, like me, they may. wish to do so.

Hydrangea House is the kind of vacation inn that would satisfy any visitor. The descriptions of the location and the Inn sound inviting. One lesson for readers is that some professions are a better fit than others. While a career might sound interesting, living it can make clear that a different career is better suited. Molly and Savanah both learn important lessons about life and about their chosen career paths. In addition to the lessons about life goals, Harper does a nice job of revealing the secrets of the past and doing so in a compelling manner.

I want to thank the author and publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review. My Grandmother's Inn was a lovely read at a time when a fun enjoyable read was a nice distraction. Thank you also to NetGalley for suggesting this novel. 4.5 stars.
