FINAL DECISION: My favorite book of the series! This is an amazing book that leverages the relationships the series has already developed into a wonderful story of two people who meet by chance, pretend to be married, learn about one another, and fall in love.
THE STORY: On a dark and stormy night, Lorcan St. Leger walks through the London dock areas as a man who has accomplished so much. He managed to raise himself from the slums of St. Giles to become a privateer for the Crown (with some questionable choices along the way), and things seem to be going well. Until he spies a woman climbing out of a window and dangling in the air. That is how St. Leger meets Lady Daphne Worth. Daphne is as desperate as St. Leger is self-satisfied. Forced to take employment due to her family's reversal of fortune, Daphne had to save herself from assault. When a major storm forces Daphne and St. Leger to take refuge at Grand Palace on the Thames, the two masquerade as a married couple to get a room. It turns out the owners of the Grand Palace are not strangers to either Daphne or St. Leger, which makes their fake marriage even more complicated.
OPINION: I loved this book. It has some great tropes, including forced proximity. So much of the story takes place within the rooms that Daphne and Lorcan rent at the Grand Palace. I'm a sucker for two characters who can talk their way through the book. But don't be fooled, this book is hot. Nothing is better than sexy talk that just explodes on the page by the end of the slow burn.
I liked these characters. Both Daphne and Lorcan have depth and are just decent people. The story avoids all the cliches and easy answers that I expected in the story. Relationships are messy and complicated, and this book doesn't shy away from that messiness, whether it be romance, family, or friendships.
Daphne is a woman who has taken on so much burden of caring for her family. No one has taken care of her, and Lorcan, who could have been only concerned with himself, always has a community behind him, whether it be the slums of St. Giles or his crew, always looks out for others even while he tells himself another story of his life. Her strength allowed me to believe the circumstances that surround this book. Daphne is not sheltered even though she has pockets of innocence and naivety. Lorcan is a man who needs to care for others, and his encounter with Daphne gives him something to care about even while he fights those instincts. The decency of these characters and the avoidance of the obvious romantic situations kept me engaged in the book. I was rooting for these two on every page of the book.
While the story takes place primarily within the walls of the Grand Palace, the vibrant community that has been built throughout the series blossoms in this book. The arrival of Daphne and Lorcan causes (or exposes) problems in the household. This book felt so vibrant with all the relationships shifting and being renewed.
I think this is the best book in the series, but it relies upon all the previous books to have so much depth. There is one night in the book that might be the funniest sequence I've read in one of Long's books. It felt like an old sitcom or a 1940s movie comedy. I don't want to give anything away because it is structured so well, but I loved the entire evening, which was funny but also served as an important catalyst in the book.
We get to see a lot of the people in the Grand Palace, which I really enjoyed because I do love the characters, and I like to see how the Grand Palace is changing and how these people are growing together.
I can't say enough about this book, and it is definitely my favorite book of the year so far. My last note is that his book has a perfect epilogue that left me feeling so happy about the book.
WORTH MENTIONING: Who knew that spillikins could be so sexy?
CONNECTED BOOKS: HOW TO TAME A WILD ROGUE is the sixth book in the Palace of Rogues series. The romance here is self-contained and thus can be read as a standalone; however, the other characters matter in this book, and a richer experience awaits those who read the series in order.
STAR RATING: I give this book 5 enthusiastic stars.
NOTE: I received an eARC of this book via Netgalley. I was not required to write a review or to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

4.5 stars
If I had to choose just one phrase to describe this book, it would be “comfort read.” After having read and enjoyed book two, Angel in a Devil’s Arms and book 4, After Dark With the Duke, this book felt a little like coming home. It was a light, easy, low-angst read, with lots of smiles and laughs and warm fuzzy feels.
I was intrigued by the opening paragraph and pulled right into the story in the very first chapter.
Who is this dark, mysterious, dangerous man, walking the streets of London late at night, looking for shelter from an impending banshee of a storm? Who is this young woman, escaping from a window using makeshift rope made out of braided bedsheets, and what is she running from?
“So even as she felt her every muscle contract against this man’s sheer sensory impact, she didn’t look away from him. And he was fearsome. His face had the stark drama of a landscape shaped by elemental forces, battering seas and brutal winds and the like. Shadows lurked in the little valleys beneath cheekbones hard and high as fortress walls. Black whiskers glinted on his box-cornered jaw. Thick, dark brows hung over deep-set eyes. A majestic nose presided over all of this. And a bright, white scar snaked like lightning from the corner of his eye to nearly his chin.”
At this point, not even knowing yet that he’s a (former) pirate/privateer, I’m already half in lust. And then I fell in madly love with his character.
What I Loved
Lorcan - The latest addition to my book boyfriends shelf (which is high praise indeed) and such an amazing man. God I just love a man who feels deeply, and doesn’t run from or deny what’s in his heart no matter how unsettled he is feeling. Falling in love was something he had never experienced before, and instead of putting up walls or running away, he reveled in it.
The pure joy he felt while getting to know Daphne, the beautifully tender, romantic things he did for her, the wonder he experienced, his fierce need to protect her from pain, all made my heart sing. The last 25% of the book really hit me hard in the feels and I didn’t see it coming. When Lorcan stood outside Daphne’s door, speaking to her from the heart, I just about dissolved into a puddle.
Ah, and the gift of an orange…
“He handed the curly peel to her, ceremoniously. She held it to her nose and inhaled with her eyes closed. She opened her eyes to find an interesting expression fleeing from his. “May I?” he asked. She handed the spirally peel over to him and he lifted it to his nose and breathed it in. She watched, riveted, and quite touched, as his eyes closed. This, too, felt like another gift. He placed the naked fruit on his handkerchief. “Would you like to . . .”
She separated it neatly into little segments, and he watched, silently. She handed one to him. “Cheers, Daphne. To your health.” He held out his segment so she could bump it with hers in a toast. She put it up to her lips. And oh, the heaven of it. The snap of the taut outer skin between her teeth. The squirt of the juice. The squish of the pulp.
She opened her eyes to find him watching her. He seemed absolutely riveted. Wordlessly, ceremoniously, they ate the whole thing. He honored her by going slowly, savoring it just the same way she’d savored it. As if he truly wanted to understand what she was experiencing. As if in so doing he’d accepted a gift from her, too.”
Forced proximity - This is my HR jam so I was very happy that they were together for literally 95% of the book.
The chemistry - The chemistry between Daphne and Lorcan was palpable and I was so there for it. They were true opposites, but he saw her, and she him. That’s a powerful harbinger of connection and deep feeling.
Found family - Returning to the Grand Palace on the Thames felt a little like coming home. Dot and Mrs Parsineau, a new (interesting) footman named Pike, and lots of wonderful male bonding between Lorcan, Delacorte, Tristan and Lucien.
Last, but most definitely not least… the game of spillikins Daphne and Lorcan played, with a wager. If he won, a kiss. If she won, his gold earring. All I can say is I’d be down for a game of spillikins with him aaaany time.
I found everything I expected in this story; smiles and laughter, the joy of found family, chemistry…
And something I didn’t expect - a lovely portrayal of a man falling in love for the first time.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, Avon Books, for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

This book did not disappoint AT ALL. If you love forced proximity, fake dating (or marriage) and a bad boy hero then this is definitely the book for you.
Our hero and heroine have an atypical meet cute with him catching her as she tries to escape a second story window. They then just happen to be going to the same boarding house for lodging and with only one room left they pretend to be married for a night……. then a storm rolls in, and one night turns into faking a marriage for days on end. Too bad they start to develop real feelings
Now I won’t lie this was definitely a slow burn romance but they payoff was sooooo good and they got to know each other before building on that. They both came from different ends of society- her a lady and he a former smuggler and yet they both complimented each other beautifully. The suite of secondary characters were the perfect topping to this great book!

This is my favorite book from the series. I was able to connect with Lorcan and Daphne. They came together in our to find shelter and little did they know that they were finding a life together. I really enjoyed their chemistry and how they came together showing parts of themselves that was difficult for them to show.
I enjoyed the interactions with the other characters also.; but it highlighted that I liked Lorcan of all the MMC of the series.

Privateer Lorcan encounters Lady Daphne as she's escaping a dangerous situation. Caught in a storm, they seek shelter at the Grand Palace on the Thames. Posing as a married couple, their initial distrust quickly turns to an irresistible attraction. Can these two people from different worlds find a future together?
This is an entertaining, deeply emotional novel. It's largely character-driven, yet the plot is well-paced and engaging. It's a steamy, slow-burn story. While the book can be read as a standalone, it's best enjoyed if you read the series in order. All the books in the series are brilliant, with a consistent tone.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Lady Daphne Worth meets privateer, Lorcan St. Leger when he helps her as she is trying to climb out of a window with a bedsheet to escape the lecherous employer. He later helps her when a thief tries to steal her valise as she is leaving to find shelter. Daphne and Lorcan end up at the Grand Palace on the Thames and decide to portray themselves as husband and wife when they end up staying in a suite of rooms at the boarding house. Lorcan later finds out that Daphne has been working to earn money for her household because her brother's are on the Continent and her father has lost all of their money gambling. As they are carrying on the deception for the other boarding house residents and the owners, they become closer and eventually are overtaken by the attraction they feel. They are stuck at the boarding house for days during a torrential rain storm and during the time together, Daphne must decide if she will accept a wedding proposal for an elderly Earl with 5 children he wants her to help rear. Lorcan also must decide if he will return to the sea or if he wants to take a chance on a relationship with Daphne. He has to come up with a plan that will allow him to be able to care for her and help her father out at the same time. Will he risk his heart by asking Daphne to spend the rest of their lives together when he knows the Earl can offer her the life she was born to live?

Thank you, Julie Anne Long for a return visit to The Grand Palace on the Thames and for Lorcan and Daphne’s story. How To Tame a Rogue is a story of two people who could not be more different but find their way to each other and absolute acceptance. Daphne has been the fixer and caretaker for her family since she was a teenager and Lorcan has taken care of himself since as long as he can remember but has an instinct and talent for taking care of others. Forced together by circumstances and a handy storm the soon find out they just may be exactly what the other needs. Throw in some old favorites and this story will have you laughing and sighing until the very last page.

Can we talk about the cover first? I am so happy it's a clinch cover because we get the real essence of the classic historical romance story we always seek! And if you look closely, the hero has an earring! That tells us so much about the story of this privateer and his lady love! I loved this book, I have to shamefully say that this is the second book by Julie Anne Long I have read (and I read HR like it's my last day on earth). I l love her writing and I love her pace. This book is amazing!

FIVE STARS.
How to Tame a Wild Rogue, the latest in The Palace of Rogues series by @julieannelongauthor, is yet another captivating love story that had me delighted, entranced, and continuously in TEARS for the last 15% of the book.
When part-time pirate Lorcan St. Leger comes upon a woman climbing out a window on a bedsheet, he never anticipates how helping Daphne reach the ground and shelter from a brewing storm safely will overturn his life. Forced to pretend to be married to secure rooms at The Grand Palace on the Thames, Daphne and Lorcan have to learn to navigate the vast differences in their life experience and their electric attraction to one another in the company of the eclectic guests of our favorite inn on the docks.
✨✨✨
It's no secret that I am obsessed with Long's writing, she has such a deft touch with prose that make each story feel completely unexpected and new, populating her books with not only rich and nuanced main characters but supporting players. I feel like I had about 30% of the book highlighted, and her writing often makes me sob and laugh out loud on the same page.
I adored the choice to feature a more "mature" main couple without making Daphne's "spinster" status tragic or a constant source of pity, and I love how she wove in connections between both the hero and heroine to the recurring characters of the series.
Long never does what you expect with a story and never chooses to hit a story beat that has been done a thousand times in historical romance, and I am always delighted to have my expectations overturned with how she develops a story.
My favorite part of this book might just be the insight into not just the main relationships, but the marriages of previous MCs from earlier in the series - it was lovely to see marriages after the first blush of love, and how happy ever after doesn't have to be perfect or uncomplicated to still be beautiful, moving, and meaningful.

Once again the Grand Palace on the Thames has opened its doors! Trust me when I tell you you are in for a treat! Lorcan is a swoon-worthy privateer who happens upon a resilient, desperate damsel in distress, Daphne. And as the sky opens up around them, Lorcan brings her to the Palace which he remembers as a brothel. And they, along with the other residents get stuck inside as the docks and roads around them get flooded out for several days. In order to appear respectable they embark on a fake marriage. Close proximity and an instant attraction burns quickly for Lorcan and Daphne. They compliment each other so well. Lorcan appreciates and sees Daphne that no one in her life to date - father, ex-fiance or employer ever did. Did I not tell you swoon worthy? And Daphne sees Lorcan as more than a hardened kid from St. Giles ho clawed his way to the top.
And I have to say that the cast of characters who live and work at the Palace only add to the warmth and fun that comes from any visit to the Palace. So please be sure to pick up your copy of How To Tame A Wild Rogue today! It is well worth the visit.

For me the Palace o6f Rogues series has gotten better with each subsequent book. I have found books 4 and 5, and now this newest edition number 6 to be much stronger than the starting 3 books. However, I think this is largely because so much character and plot development of the side characters that carry through in each subsequent book add to the overall enjoyment. Lorcan and Daphne were a beautiful couple and I loved going on the journey with them to finding love. But what rounds out the book and makes it truly special is also seeing Delilah and Hardy and Tristan and Angelique from the earlier books relationships continue to be rounded up. In this book we see this couples work through some trials and difficulties. The commentary on women, their roles, their power (or lack their of), and how they get diminished by men all gets dealt with in a perfect way. The resolution in this book is so satisfying as justice feels like it gets served to the wrong doers, and the happy ending is gorgeous. There is the hottest game of Spillikuns (Pick-up-Sticks) that you've ever seen. And the sweetest moment with an orange and a gold and ruby earring. Bring on more Julie Anne Long, I'll be waiting!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

A wild rogue, a destitute spinster, equals a slow burn of deliciousness.
Long has done it again. It’s not often I get swept away in a romance as of late, but How to Tame a Wild Rogue kept me up far too late. It was easy to get lost in this tale of opposites attract, with a fake marriage, and of course, the Grand Palace on the Thames. I can’t recommend this series enough for those who love a series that will keep you guessing.
Cue our enigmatic Loran St. Ledger. He grew up in the worst parts of London but has made a name for himself. First as a smuggler and then a privateer. On shore leave, he plans to visit a brothel he once dearly loved. Only to find himself assisting a woman escaping from a window. A woman who reluctantly accepts his help, though she doesn’t want it.
Lady Daphne Worth has officially hit rock bottom. With nowhere to turn on a windy, soon-to-be stormy night, she has to trust in this man she’s just met. One who has an interesting manner and a less-than-reputable look to him. Though they won’t be admitted to the Grand Palace on the Thames without a story. There’s only one room, so a fake marriage is just the ticket. What starts out as a means of securing safe lodging turns into a slow-burn attraction dance that I couldn’t stop reading.
Lorcan is everything a rogue should be. He’s bluntly honest about it too, which makes him even more admirable. He hit all the right buttons for me, so I could easily see how Daphne would fall for him. Daphne is a woman whose plight hit my personal heartstrings. She’s been the only woman in her family since her mother passed when she was young. Left to carry the burden of caring for her father and her brothers, she has the weight of not only her own, but her family’s future on her shoulders. To be in that position is so challenging, and I fell for Lorcan even more when he recognized how Daphne deserved more than what her life was giving her.
Overall, the plot, characterization, pacing… really the entire book hits the mark. I absolutely loved it and enjoyed the bits and pieces we get to catch up with the other favorites from the series as well. I hope you’ll pick this one up or just start the series from the beginning.

Lorcan St. Leger was at the right place at the right time so Lady Daphne Worth could take her leap of faith in “How to Tame a Wild Rogue” by Julie Anne Long!
This book is absolutely entertaining!!! It took me a minute of giggling to get over Dot and Mr. Pike’s first scene and that scene was very earlier in the book. Delacorte knows everyone and his excitement keeps a smile on your face! A restless aristocrat and other guests get in trouble with the inns owners and their punishment is genius!
Lorcan is a morally grey rogue however he’s a cinnamon roll! He listens, remembers, and was very thoughtful to give Daphne the “sun” and “stars!” He is a swoon-worthy, dive into the Thames hero!!!
Daphne deserves every good thing she gets! She deserves every good thing she wants! I love that she got what she truly wanted sooner than later!
If you enjoy fake marriage, forced proximity, oranges, playful vulgarity, small daily gestures, stars, and thoughtful gift giving, then I highly recommend this book!!!
Thank you to Net Galley, Avon Books, and Harper Voyager US for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

This was a typically lovely, beautifully written book by Julie Anne Long, her 6th in The Palace of Rogues series. For those who have been reading the series in order, this book sees the reappearance of fan favorites, Dot, Mr. Delacorte, Mrs. Parisieu as well as Mr. Pike, the new footman, Captain and Delilah Hardy, and the Durands, Angelique and Lucien, with newcomers Lady Daphne Worth and Lorcan St. Leger, a man who happens by a dark alley only to rescue Daphne as she climbs out a window to freedom using a bedsheet on the eve of an epic storm. The two seek shelter in the only place they can to wait out the storm: the Grand Palace on the Thames. But there’s only one suite at the boardinghouse available to them, which they elect to share as fake husband and wife. What follows is their adventures in sharing the suite and getting to know one another, these two from very different walks of life, as well as their interactions with other members of the household.
It is an enjoyable read, with Julie Anne Long’s trademark humor and sensual passages. What made this a 4-star read for me instead of a fiver though was that Daphne and Lorcan’s story doesn’t really take off in depth until more than 1/2 the book has passed. The first half is spent in and among the occupants of the Grand Palace on the Thames. There are arguments between Delilah and Tristan, Angelique and Lucien, Dot and Mr. Pike, and there are also interactions between Lorcan and Hardy as well as Mr. Delacorte and Lorcan. For me, not having read any of the previous novels of the series, I didn’t feel that this story stood alone well; I felt like I was missing previous parts of the character arcs for the secondary characters. And it isn’t really until over 60% of the book has passed before the focus really zeroes in on Lorcan and Daphne - and because of that, it seemed like I didn’t get as much backstory about Lorcan’s life as a boy and his trajectory from impoverished, lonely child from St. Giles to wealthy businessman, his “Lordship” as I had hoped. I wanted to know more of what the relationship between Lorcan and Hardy was like when they were boys together so that I could have a better understanding of why there is such a huge rub between these two characters. Did I like Lorcan? Most definitely, but I wanted to know more about him. He reminds me A LOT of Lucian Blackstone from Evie Dunmore’s Portrait of a Scotsman, so if you are a fan of Lucian (and I totally was!), I think Lorcan will charm and dazzle you. He is a very good man, and Daphne is a sweet, endearing, quiet woman who is easy to like. The pair are well-suited so that when their happily ever after comes, it is such a welcome ending!
Other reviewers have commented that this book is more Lorcan’s story than Daphne’s, and I tend to agree. There are more passages from his point of view than Daphne’s, and this after so much goings on during the storm at the boardinghouse. For me, I would have liked a little bit less GPOTT shenanigans with the secondary characters and more focus on the hero and heroine, Lorcan and Daphne.
Still, it is a beautiful read that touched my heart, and I LOVED that there was an epilogue which tied things up nicely at the end. Yay for Archer - such a sweet image at the end.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC, and I am leaving my review of it voluntarily.

I want to start this review off by saying I generally hate slow burns. They tend to drive me nuts and give me heartburn. Somehow this is just not the case with any Julie Anne Long slow burn. I don’t know how she weaves her magic, but the fact that I’m not getting a sex scene by at least 60% and am still absolutely loving the book is mind boggling. She’s just that good.
This book had the best meet cute I’ve read recently. Two prickly characters stumbling upon each other in terrible weather and sort of forced to band together?? LOVE! I also fell in love with Lorcan immediately. The thoughts in this man’s head and his sarcasm - a man clearly jaded but still nice? I could tell straight away that was sweet but still had an edginess that I need in my heroes.
Daphne and Lorcan are compelled to share a suite in The Grand Palace on the Thames when horrid weather makes both finding lodging and traveling nearly impossible. It’s almost like one bed but cute little suite lol Lorcan is a former bad boy turned upstanding citizen who has clawed his way up from the bottom. Daphne is escaping a precarious situation with an employer and desperate to secure funds to save her family. She’s a good girl gone a little rogue thanks to the weather and the sexy man who saved her. I can’t really remember if she found him sexy at first but I will speak for her because it is the only correct answer. Daphne is a real badass and watching her blossom with the support of Lorcan and hold her own with him was a joy. This book being a slow burn really allowed us to experience such great character development for both characters.
I was smiling during every bantery conversation between Daphne and Lorcan. The way they just seriously got each other and yet pushed each other MELTED ME. I am a puddle. When you can feel the connection between two characters so deeply that it feels real…you know you’re reading something special. I’m honestly a little emotional thinking about this book because of how beautiful of a love story it was.
If that isn’t enough to convince you - the karmic justice of the epilogue was the icing on top of this cake for this petty girlie 🙋🏼♀️ It was perfection!
Thank you to Julie Anne Long and Avon for ARC! All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley, Avon/Harper Voyager and Ms. Long for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.
Every time I think, “how can there possibly be anything left to do with the Grand Palace on the Thames”, Julie Anne Long shows me just how wrong I am. Lady Daphne Worth, down-on-her-luck lady, and Lorcan St. Leger, slightly shady character, have a coincidental encounter in an alley as Daphne flees a handsy employer. They decide to seek lodgings for the night at the GP and allow Dot to believe they are married. Things snowball from there when Daphne is recognized by Delilah and Lorcan, by Delilah’s husband. Daphne and Lorcan are allowed to stay after some debate (that was a very well done scene, IMHO) and must keep up the pretense. Of course, they have chemistry up the wazoo and the pretense is less pretend and more real by the minute.
I loved Lorcan and Daphne, and I also loved the little dives into Delilah’s and Angelique’s marriages. Some might find the switch of focus from the main couple distracting but I actually really liked seeing real issues being examined and worked through. Not to be left out, Dot had an interesting little scene with a certain footman that bodes well for a future GP book. Last but not least, THAT scene with Delacorte…oh my gosh. I haven’t laughed so hard or so loud at a book, in a long time. Pure comedy gold.
Looking very much forward to absolutely anything Ms. Long chooses to write next, in the GP or anywhere else.

How To Tame A Wild Rogue is the 6th book in The Palace Of Rogues series and my favorite historical romance from this year!😍 All of the books are standalones and you can pick up any of them but honestly, this series is amazing so you should be reading them all!
It's a stormy evening when Lorcan St. Leger sees a lady climbing out of a window and decides to help her - much to Lady Daphne Worth's shock and surprise. They end up seeking shelter in a boardinghouse called the Grand Palace on the Thames and the unavailability of rooms has them pretending to be a married couple when both of them end up running into people from their past! Both of them come from different worlds as Daphne is a viscount's daughter and Lorcan had climbed his way up from the streets of St. Giles. But a storm and a fake marriage bring them closer and has them seeing each other in a way that noone else has ever done before!
I can't get over how amazing this book was! Both Daphne and Lorcan were such wonderful characters whose pasts have shaped them up to be what they are now. But when they are together they see beyond each other's facades and scars. Every interaction of theirs had me feeling so much and JAL's emotional descriptions have always been the best! She takes some of the simplest things and makes them beautiful and all of her characters are so relatable & amazing!
Not only was the romance amazing in this one but I also enjoyed seeing some of my favorite characters from the previous books and how 'real' their relationships were after the HEA too!
This was a beautiful read that had me feeling a lot of things and if you haven't read this series yet you definitely should now!❣️✨

This is my first Julie Ann Long book and it was delight. I fell in love with these characters. Daphne and her poetic use of words was so refreshing and oddly relatable. I can only hope to be admired as Lorcan admired Daphne for my way with words some day.
Lorcan is a sincere, thoughtful, cinnamon roll-- dressed and walking around like a pirate, complete with a gold and ruby earring but we know better. As does Daphne. She sees right through him. Saving damsels in distress and drowning babies and the like.
He's a lay-down-his-life to save you kind of Rogue. Through and through.
Daphne's past was heartbreakingly relatable for me. I found myself filled with so much sadness for how her family and her broken betrothed treated her. You see her go through all the emotions. Anger, grief, sadness, realization, fortification, resolve. It was beautifully done. I love when authors slip real life psychology into books. Honest human nature but also the healthy way to resolve conflict and apologize.
The other guests at the Grand Palace on the Thames are all genuine and a lovely addition to the story.
You get your fairly well done spice. And your hea in this slooow burn. Overall I would definitely recommend.
Fake marriage
Forced proximity
Reformed Rogue
Class difference
Thank you to netgalley, Julie Ann Long, and Avon for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Two more road weary traveler’s have found their way to the grand palace on the Thames!
Today Julie Anne Long returns us to The Palace of Rogues series, where we get to see another couple find true love and catch up with our favourite regulars at the quirky inn by the docks!
Lady Daphne Worth has had a great shift in position, and now finds her self hanging from a windowsill by the docks on a cold stormy night! She is rescued by a shadowy figure who escorts her to her destination, the Grand Palace on the Thames, where they both find themselves in a new sticky position where they need to be husband and wife to get the last room at the inn!
These two characters couldn’t be more of an opposites attract pairing. Lady Daphne is a spinster lady of the ton, known for her propriety and dedication to her family, where Lorcan St Leger is a privateer who grew up an orphan on the streets of St Giles and lives only for himself. But these two have so much that they find that brings them together as they are sequestered at the grand palace during the storm of the century!
All the while, the Palace regulars, from Angelique and Delilah, Captain Hardy and Lord Blot, to Dot and Delacourt are all hunkered down safely in the inn as the storm battles outside and business stresses and familial drama keep everyone on edge inside!
The story had a perfect balance between the relationship building of Lorcan and Daphne and the continued daily storylines of the regular characters living within the inn. Julie Anne Long perfectly captures her characters falling in love well at the same time showing established couples going through their daily routine of struggle, an acceptance and continuing love for each other.
This was Another beautiful and comforting visit to the grand Palace on the Thames!

Oh my! This is definitely my favorite in this series! Lorcan and Daphne were just wonderful. They were opposites in so many ways, yet they had a lot in common. And they both just wanted to be loved. I don't want to give too much away, but the scenes with Hardy, Delilah, Bolt and Angelique were magnificent! Getting a deeper look into their lives made me smile. Actually, lots of this book had me grinning from ear to ear. Just read it, you won't regret it.
