This was a fun and quick read. I loved Dating Dr. Dil and was excited to read Nina Sharma’s newest book. I liked the characters and inclusion of food (I always love a foodie book) and the hints at steam were fun. Ultimately I found this book to have less steam than expected, but still enjoyed it nonetheless! I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys food romance, or an enemies to lovers trope.

Bobbi and Bunty can GET IT!

Thank you to Avon Books and Netgalley for an eArc of Tastes Like Shakkar. This is my honest review.

Tastes Like Shakkar follows Bobbi Kaur, a passionate, loyal, and generous woman who tends to overextend herself but she prides herself on being totally capable. As a wedding planner, she is a badass who works hard for her clients. In Tastes Like Shakkar, she is planning the wedding of her best friend (Karessa and Prem from Dating Dr. Dil). She's up against her frenemy turned lover, Benjamin Bunty Padda, a chef/heir to a Naan fortune, who is also very committed to his work and his family (loyal, passionate, etc.).

Bobbi and Bunti have to work together to pull off the wedding. There is also a shaadi saboteur who is committed to ruining Karessa and Prem's wedding. Shenanigans, heart to hearts, and steamy love scenes ensue.

I really liked Tastes Like Shakkar. I love the world that Nisha Sharma creates. The supporting characters do seem a little one-dimensional but they are also endearing. I'm not sure about the interstitials or Benjamin's notes. But overall, a fun read.

Tastes Like Shakkar is the second book in Shakespeare Aunties series by Nisha Sharma. This book follows Bobbi, an adopted plus-size wedding planner, who is best friends with Kareena, the heroine of Dating Dr. Dil, and Benjamin, one of Prem's best friends. Bobbi is tasked with planning Kareena and Prem's wedding and through a complicated series of events, Benjamin gets dragged in to potentially cater the wedding as he is a chef.
Bobbi and Benjamin have had an antagonistic relationship since they first met, when Benjamin refused to speak with one of Bobbi's clients about potentially catering their wedding. That antagonistic relationship continues when they are reunited to discuss the planning on their friends' wedding. Things begin to take a turn as they spend more time together.

Benjamin loved to provide food for Bobbi and it was so sweet to see him do so over and over throughout the book. More and more, we see him showing how much he cares for Bobbi even though he was avoiding being in a relationship at the beginning of the book and I loved how his progression was portrayed.

I loved seeing the dynamics between all the side characters again and the aunties having a role in this book as well. I did enjoy the mystery sub-plot. I felt like it very much played a small role throughout the whole book so I would say if you aren't a fan of mysteries, this book can still be right up your alley.

Overall, I highly recommend this book and would rate it 4.25 stars.

Wow, Nisha Sharma really outdid herself with this one! I absolutely loved this book and didn’t want to put it down. I loved Bobbi and Bunty- I think they had such great chemistry and really understood each other. I loved their banter and seeing how their dynamic evolved over the course of the book. I felt that the 3rd act breakup was very realistic and it definitely had me tearing up. Honorable mention to the secondary plot: we love a wedding especially one that is chaotic and full of shenanigans. I really enjoyed this fun twist of the shaadi saboteur. And don’t let me forget to let you all know that this book has some quality spice just like Dating Dr. Dil featuring some rope play (fans of Dirty Rowdy Thing take note and pick up this book). I absolutely recommend this book, this is a perfect summer romcom!

Tastes Like Shakkar

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read Dating Dr. Dil last year and had to try this adjacent romcom when it came up on @netgalley!

Benjamin and Bobbi are forced to hang out more when their best friends are getting married. Together they work to get things ready for the wedding, despite someone’s attempts to derail everything.

The sabotage underlying story almost made this a little bit like a cozy mystery! It added so much family drama to the plot. Though I thought this one was a little predictable, the epilogue has me excited for the next one in the series!

Thanks to @netgalley for this eARC of Tastes Like Shakkar, which comes out August 1st!

Inspired by Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, Tastes Like Shakkar follows Bobbi and Bunty the best friends of Kareena and Prem from Dating Dr. Dil. In their novel Bobbi and Bunty are not on the best of terms but they have to use their assets to help Kareena and Prem with their wedding. As a wedding planner Bobbi is determined to give Kareena the best wedding ever and as one of Prem’s best friends Bunty wants to do all he can to help things run smoothly between him and Bobbi. What they don’t expect is for someone trying to sabotage Kareena and Prem’s wedding. As they work together to find this person (with the help of the aunties) they realize they have more in common then they first thought and as their obvious attraction builds they choose to pursue it. This story was cute and fun a great continuation to this wonderful friend group. I loved seeing the aunties help Bobbi and Bunty in this secret mission but also work to bring them closer together. I loved both Bobbi and Bunty’s individual journeys. Their growth was perfectly paced and the intimate moments they shared throughout were perfect. If you enjoyed Dating Dr. Dil you will definitely enjoy Tastes Like Shakkar. 4⭐️

I had such a good time reading this story that I immediately went out and bought the first book in this series, Dating Dr. Dil,

Bobbi and Benjamin were delightfully explosive in the midst of an Indian wedding.

Plus size rep for the win!

Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and Netgalley for providing an eARC for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this opposites attract romance!

Bobbi and Benjamin struck sparks off each other when they met - and then he stuck his foot in his mouth and ruined it before it could even begin.

They’ve been circling each other like sharks looking for blood in the water ever since. Until they have to declare a truce and work together to make sure the wedding of their best friends is the best day ever.

Full review to come on my blog and Amazon the week of release.

If you enjoyed the first book in the series Dating Dr. Dil, then you will love this installment!
This story follows a wedding planner and chef as they try to plan a wedding for their best friends. This story was so fun! I really enjoyed the banter between the characters and the plus sized representation. The plot was really enjoyable, as the main characters are tasked with determining who is trying to sabotage the wedding! This forces them to put aside their past and work together to save the day for their friends.
I enjoyed this book immensely, and I can’t wait to read book 3 in the series!

I adore all of the characters but I loved Benjamin and Bobbi. Their banter and chemistry were immaculate. The communication between them was *chef kiss*. There was a third-act breakup, even though the reasoning behind it was understandable and done well. I was hoping it wouldn't happen but it did.
The aunties have my entire heart, whenever they show up in a chapter, I'll probably end the chapter laughing.
The subplot with the Shaadi Saboteur was amazing. I never knew who it was going to be and the reveal was so well done
Finally, I love the Easter eggs about Veera & Deepak. I can’t wait for their story and I hope it's a marriage of convenience.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for an arc in exchange for a review.

Bobbi is planning the wedding of her best friend Kareena and wants it to go off without a hitch. She also has sparks flying with Benjamin (Bunty), and he is weaseling his way into her heart. Soon - someone starts messing with the Kareena’s wedding and it’s up to Bobbi, Bunty, and the aunties to find out what’s going on.

This book was unexpected - in a good way! Loved the plus size representation of a main character, and I did like the “enemies to lovers” though they did seem to hate other pretty quick for no reason. It’s been awhile since I read the first book but I don’t remember anything about these two.

The spicy scenes are pretty good and the banter is great. I loved the text messages back and forth - they were so cute to show the growth in the relationship. This book was a little cheesy, but what’s love without cheese? Nice ending and now I want to read Vera’s story!

Sexy chef and badass wedding planner make the perfect dynamic duo in this frenemies to lovers rom com. This is the second book in the series and I would recommend reading the first, Dating Dr. Dil, before diving into this one to truly appreciate it. Bobbi and Benjamin’s banter is phenomenal and the spice is even better. These two are tasked with planning the best wedding for their best friends while someone is trying to sabotage the whole thing. This book will make you hungry, make you laugh, and make you wish you had meddling aunties! This was an ARC read given for an honest review.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. I absolutely adored the first in the series and I the 3rd book has been on my TBR since Dating Dr Dil came out. Nisha Sharma has done it again. I loved the background being the wedding of Kareena and Prem. I felt like this book really furthered the characters along and set up the nest novel nicely. And can we talk about the representation? Plus size love interests in romance are always fantastic to see (I knew it would be good when I read the dedication). I loved the chemistry between the characters, and the spice of course. I felt that there was a good balance between the main couple, finishing the story of the first couple, and introducing the 3rd couple. None felt like they were overpowering the other, which is a common thing I see in interconnected standalone novels like this one.

My only issue with the novel is the amount of exposition and allusion to the first book. For a novel that is allegedly an interconnected standalone, I felt that too much was repeated to the reader to make them see the connection (or maybe influence them to read) the first book in the series. There was a lot of repetition that felt unnecessary, and it didn't seem to end until at least halfway into the book.

All that being said, I cannot wait to see where all these characters end up in the third book. I love this series.

loved this romance and enemies to lovers . loved that family was a topic and friends were an important part of the relationships. I didn't know that this was based on much ado about nothing. Loved seeing them stand up to to family for their relationship.

I adored this book so, so much! Returning to the “If Shakespeare was an Auntie” universe is always such a pleasure.

This sequel was so amusing and funny I found myself highlighting even more comedic moments than the romantic ones. I love the dynamic between Bobbi and Bunty and their friend group! The found family, touch of mystery, and forced proximity are all amazing aspects of this story.

Bunty and Bobbi’s chemistry had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t help but to root for them both! Getting to see Prem and Kareena living their best lives and planning their wedding was an added treat!

Something that rang true in both this novel and Dating Dr. Dil is the unapologetic devotion of culture and tradition while still being modern. Getting immersed in this culture makes me even more excited to read Veera’s story.

Thank you so much to Net Galley, Nisha Sharma and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Indian Aunties and weddings is top tier comedy. I wish this series was turned into Bollywood movies because it would be laugh out loud funny. Bunty and Bobbi were both strong characters and compared to many romcoms were very mature. I read The Man Ban recently and fell in love and wanted more and this book gave me more Indian weddings and enemies to lovers. I liked the pace and the Aunties meddling made this book even better.

Yes - 100% yes!!
I absolutely loved Dating Dr. Dil and was so excited to read Tastes Like Shakkar - and holy smokes it was amazing!! It had everything I love in a romantic comedy - it’s hilarious, sexy, fun, spicy and lighthearted (while also tackling serious topics) wrapped up in an enemies to lovers with a bit of mystery and an amazing friend group package!

10/10 recommend this series!! I’m so excited to see where Nisha Sharma will take the story with her next book!

Thank you so much to Avon & NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Despite the overwhelming wash, rinse repeat of the plot I'd come to expect. This was a fairly decent read. Loved the characters and the sexy dialogue.
