A little bit four aunties and a wedding with some gilmore girls quirks and found family. This was a fun continuation of the series although it's been so long I want to go back for a reread of Dating Dr. Dil! Bobbi and Benjamin had a very heated meet cute that ended with a mistaken comment and thus began their enemies relationship prior to being roped in to helping with their best friend's wedding (she's the wedding planner, he's a chef that doesn't do catering). When someone sets out to sabotage the wedding, they combine forces to sus out the culprit (with the help if the aunties). But when feelings come into play, their family business obligations threaten to put a wrench in things.
The aunties were hilarious, the friend group top notch, and the glimpses of deepak and veera now have me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of the next book in the series!
Thank you Netgalley, Avon, and Harper Voyager for the ARC in exchange for my review!
i adored dating dr. dil so i obviously couldn’t wait to get my hands on the follow up novele tastes like shakkar. the banter and chemistry was so good!!! and the overall silliness of the book along with the aunties themselves was so refreshing.
I really liked the first in this series, so I wanted to be excited for this book, but unfortunately, it didn't do it for me. DNF at 15%.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyage for gifting me this title in exchange for an honest review.
I was looking forward to this book so much and let me tell you Nisha Sharma did not disappoint. I was unable to put this book down. I really enjoyed following the two main characters. The chemistry was on the page from their first interaction. But he's not looking for a relationship because of work and he said something that she found incredible insulting, so they hate each other, and like any good romance we both know where that is going to go. The reasons she had to dislike him we personal and business and ugh... I would hate him too.
But when they come together to plan the wedding it is perfect. I also loved the inclusion of the aunties and their hijinx. Over all this was such a fun book and one I will definitely recommend and read again.
This was not enjoyable at all unlike the previous one. It was just very dry and I sadly didn’t enjoy the sex scenes.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
I really enjoyed the next installment in this series! This definitely topped Dr. Dil for me and made me excited to read the next book in the series. I love Nisha's humor which really came through in this book!
I really enjoyed Taste Like Shakkar. I liked how once Bobbi and Bunty got past all of the petty, they could use that fire they had for each other in better ways. Nisha’s writing always has me in a chokehold and I can’t wait for the next book.
Tastes Like Shakkar was a breath of fresh Shakespeare.
I've loved Much Ado About Nothing since the first time Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh graced my TV. Their version of this classic play was the pinnacle until I picked up Tastes Like Shakkar.
Sharma's cultural twists on such a fun story were the perfect way to shake things up and bring new life to a beloved classic.
The characters Bobbi and "Bunty" were hilarious enemies without being cruel, and the way they came together to save the wedding was (dare I say) chef's kiss. The humor was laugh out loud at times, and the love story swoony and sweet with spice-a-plenty.
I absolutely loved this book and look forward to seeing more from the "If Shakespeare Was An Auntie," universe.
I thought this was a really fun book! I enjoyed the devolopment of Bobbi and Benjamins relationship over the course of the book. The had struggles that ultimately affected their relationship in big ways and really tested them. This felt like an enemies to lovers story, but it didn't feel like the enemies part last for a long time. Of course, we don't want the story to drag out, but I think there could been a little more angst and pinning. I didn't personally mind, though. I also really like the look into the family dynamics and struggles to either prove to your family that you are capable, which also trying to flourish as your own person while still try to be loyal and supportive to family.
So hilarious and original! I loved this story. I did not read Dating Dr Dil before hand, but Tastes like Shakkar is okay as a standalone in my opinion! Hoping there will be more where this came from!
Thank you to Avon for the ARC of Taste like Shakkar; all thoughts are mine.
I love Nisha Sharma, and she crushed the second installment of the If Shakepears was an Auntie series. This is a sweet and spicy retelling of the famous Much Ado about Nothing, and it might be in my top 3 of the retellings of this classic story. The way Nisha adds a new light to such a well-known story is why I fell in love with her writing in the first place. The enemies to lovers, family drama, and spice will have you turning page after page, wondering how you got to the end so fast. I adored the banter and slow burn and, of course, all that spice. This is one of my favorites from Nisha.
Loved this next book in the series and that all the other great characters including the aunties were in there. Steamy as well
Tastes Like Shakkar was so fun! Great banter, steam, and a super fun plot. I loved it! I can't wait for the next one.

Ok hear me out… I thought it was good but what’s keeping me from giving it a higher rating is that it was a romcom. It started off great; I enjoyed the banter between them off the bat, but I wasn’t expecting them to get together so fast. The book ended up turning into a long-distance relationship and there was just a ton of texting going on. With that being said, I would have loved if she went the route of a cozy mystery (kind of like Dial A for Aunties). I found myself more intrigued by the mystery in here and wanted more (with a tad bit of romance)
Seriously obsessed with this series! Not only is is beautifully written but it’s funny and reflective. I love books that’s put me through and emotional ringer and this book delivered! I laughed, cried, raged, and cheered while reading it. And I mean literally cheered for Bobbi because let’s face it she is amazing and a badass and I want to be her when I grow up!
We start with a bit of a misunderstanding between Bobbi and Benjamin(Bunty) that leads to a year of rage filled back and forths, Awkward dinners with friends, and endless pranks and bickering. Only for them to have to work together to make Prem and Kareena’s wedding perfect! And to make matters worse they are on a condensed timeline with a shaadi saboteur trying to ruin the wedding. Bobbi has to figure out how to accept help and to not take everything on herself and Bunty has to make a decision for himself and prioritize his own happiness.
Both Bobbi and Benjamin are such amazing characters full of depth and are so relatable. Both working hard to be successful in their field and juggling family and friends and relationships. Also the side characters are amazing and actual fleshed out people rather than just props to further the story of the main characters. And we can’t forget the spice! Seriously is it hot in here because damn!
Cannot wait for the next in the series!
Nisha Sharma is an auto buy author for me. Like Dating Dr. Dil, I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't stop. From the steam to the family shenanigans to the food descriptions, I absolutely loved this and can't wait for more Nisha Sharma!
Hotttttt! I know this is cliche but Tastes Like Shakkar was a delicious rivals to lovers romance. Bobbi and Bunty can't stand one another, at first. Bunty thinks that Bobbi is annoying sometimes but mostly sexy as hell. Bobbi thinks Bunty is a handsome asshole because his refusal to cater a wedding made her and her family lose a huge client a few years ago. So when their besties Karina and Prem stick them together to figure out the wedding menu, Bobbi and Bunty have to figure out how to put the past behind them and their sexual tension to the side.
There quite a few racy scenes in here that I will probably never forget. Thank you, Nisha Sharma! I really enjoy the hate to love you trope and this one was so satisfying because the lovebirds are really good at arguing. They were funny and knew how to get under each other's skin.
Once again, Sharma brings the readers into her lead's family lives, too. I felt like I could understand why they felt the way they did about their situations and their issues with one another. They both feel the pressure and expectations.
I'm realllly looking forward to the next book in If Shakespeare Was an Auntie series!
After loving the previous book, there was no way I was going to miss this one.
I liked Bobbi and Benjamin. They're both driven, loyal, and passionate. I didn't quite see the jump from annoyance to interested, but the chemistry was definitely there. Of course it's always good to see this friend group and I'm definitely here for more Aunties.
Plot wise, it sort of felt all over the place. There are a lot of moving pieces and sometimes it was overwhelming to keep track of everything. I did enjoy the hunt for the saboteur (hello, Aunties) and the big confrontation at the ending. However, the lead in for the next book has me stupid with excitement.
Overall, this was a fun and chaotic story with a load of delicious sounding food and beautiful cultural references. I can't wait for the next story.
