I enjoyed this book. Definitely what you expect from an enemies to lovers trope. I loved the banter between the MCs even tho they were a bit toxic at times it still rounded out to be a good story. I would recommend this book
Enemies to lovers rom-com between kate and harry. Kate is always so serious in life and i think she liked that harry brought some silliness into her life. Fell a little bit flat half way through for me.
Struggled to get into this one - just didn't find Kate or Harry that relatable or likeable. Also a bit of a disappointing plot development
I thought this book wasn't the best developed rom com I've ever seen. Weak characters, not the best character development, kind of petty side characters and drama that didn't really have me invested unfortunately.
Hate at First Sight - Lizzie O'Hagan
A very entertaining funny read, which made me chuckle out loud a few times. There is a big selection of characters, so there are plenty of personalities to get stuck into. I personally would have liked a little more on the romance side of things but overall it was a very easy read, and would be a good holiday book, perfect for a sun lounger! I think this would be a great read if you are a fan of Emily Henry books. Thanks so much Netgalley and Headline for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions.
I could not have loved this book more!!
✅ office romance
✅ enemies-to-lovers
✅ interesting main characters
This book has laugh-out-loud moments whilst also being able to touch on some more serious topics and cover them really well
I always enjoy an enemies to lovers or workplace romance and this book was no different ! I really enjoyed Kate’s character and how relatable she could be. I would have liked the ending to be a little longer but it didn’t make me enjoy the ending any less - I’m just being greedy and not wanting it to end! There was also a strong feminist message delivered through this book which felt like a good addition to the romance. This was an easy and enjoyable read.
I recently read the synopsis of "Hate at First Sight," and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed by what the book has to offer. The enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy genre is always a treat for readers looking for a fun and witty story, and this book seems to be no exception. The main character, Kate, is relatable to many readers who struggle with feeling out of control and have a constant need to overprepare. Her situation of being evicted and facing job insecurity adds a layer of tension and urgency to the story, keeping readers invested in her journey.
The addition of Harry, the man she's spent the last five years trying to forget, creates an interesting dynamic that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. I am curious to see how their relationship develops and how they overcome their differences to fall in love.
Furthermore, the comparison to other popular authors in the genre, such as Sally Thorne, Emily Henry, Talia Hibbert, Mhairi McFarlane, and Beth O'Leary, is a good sign that this book will be worth reading. It seems like the perfect book for anyone who wants to indulge in a witty and romantic story that will leave them feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
In conclusion, "Hate at First Sight" is an unputdownable and unmissable treat for fans of enemies-to-lovers romance. I am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get my hands on this book and dive into the world of Kate and Harry.
As usual, thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Unfortunately, it's a 2.5 rounded down for me :(
The writing was nice and it was entertaining enough for the first half; but even then I wasn't really having any strong emotions about the characters. MC is alright (not too annoying but also nothing extraordinary), and love interest is nice, but not super charming or anything.
Without giving spoilers, I just wanted to add that I hated most of the plot twists and decisions. Everything felt so unforgivable to me that at the ending I couldn't really feel happy about how things turned out. It's nothing too awful but it's one of those cases that you feel (at least I did) a line has been crossed and it was a point of no return.
I would still read other novels by this author because I do feel like maybe this wasn't for me but her other works might be, but I can't really recommend this one.
I found throughout the book I was getting more agitated with the stereotypes and Kate. I understand this is a slow burn however the ending seemed very rushed for me. I did like how the book was written and how it managed to strike the balance between rom com and serious issues.
A super quick read that I managed to get through in a day & a half.
This was such a fun, easy read! It was like all the best bits of my favourite teenage rom-coms made into a book for adults. For me, I think it perfectly depicts how the world can be, and Kate was super relatable, ugly parts and all. I loved Harry, even if sometimes I wanted to scream at him. The ending was completely beautiful, having me reading with a big, goofy grin on my face,
I was so excited for the opportunity to read Hate at First Sight. The description has lured me in with enemies-to-lovers, workplace romance and slow burn. This sounded like a romance that would be right up my street. I've never read any of O'Hagan's work previously and was looking forward to delving into Hate at First Sight.
The story did what I was promised, it had enemies-to-lovers, slow burn and a cute workplace romance. For the first 50% or so of the book, I was utterly invested in Kate and Harry's connection. I was rooting for them from the start. I thought their opposite personalities were adorable.
However, something happened to Harry's behaviour and it seemed to get more and more unlikeable and controlling as the book went on. I went from rooting for them both to wanting Kate to do better for herself and steer clear of Harry's manipulating behaviour.
Whilst I wanted to love the story, in the end, I loved about 50% of the book and felt like it just fell shy of being fantastic.
Enemies to lovers? Tick!
Workplace romance? Tick!
If these are the kind of tropes which tickle your fancy, as they do mine, then definitely give this one a go!
This was right up my street, Kate was a likeable protagonist and I was rooting for her the whole way through. Harry wasn’t perfect, and I’m not entirely sure he’s exactly the happily ever after I would have wanted for Kate, but the drama and slow burn cancelled that out for me!
Would recommend for fans of romcoms.
I enjoyed this book didn’t take me long to read it about three days in total. I enjoyed the humour the fun slow burn romance. Enjoyed the chemistry between characters. The writing style loved every paged.
The main character is relatable. Shy, nerdy, quiet, etc. Got a little tired of the “I’m not like other girls” trope. I like enemies to lovers romances usually but the miscommunication throughout the book killed it.
I struggled to put this down, I was so engrossed in this.
I was initially really drawn in by the beautiful cover of this book.
I am absolutely loved this I found it so easy to read. The banter in this is was great and found myself laughing out loud at a couple of moments.
I also felt like Kate was a really relatable character. The side characters involved were fantastic.
I loved how this dealt with so tough topics throughout in such a great way.

Perfect for fans of The Hating Game.
Hate At First Sight is an enemies to lovers must read.
I'm a sucker for a work romance and with interesting characters it has I really enjoyed it.
It isn't a 5 star read for me as it took me a few chapters to get into but once I did I was speed reading the rest. I also would have liked some of the texting between Harry and Kate to be in more detail.
Over all a cute read
I enjoyed this and was totally rooting for Kate. She got herself in a right mess and I loved the way she handled it. This managed to strike the balance between rom com and serious issues so right. Also, a top tier epilogue ❤️
Lizzie O'Hagan is one of those authors I know I can turn to when I'm in need of a fast-paced romance that has me reading until the early hours of the morning.
I really liked Kate and found that I could relate to her a lot in terms of always feeling the need to be in control and overprepare. She very much keeps to herself until she's forced into a project in order to prove her worth. I loved watching her go through this journey of figuring out what she wanted and what she was willing to fight for.
I will admit, I struggled to like Harry at the beginning but once he opens up and we got to know his character more I started to warm up to him!
Whilst this is an amazing office, enemies to lovers romance, it also deals with darker topics such as the way women are perceived in the media and expected to look a certain way. I loved that this was an element of the book and I would have loved to have seen more of how this played out at the end!
I've read all of Lizzie's books and have enjoyed every single one and I cannot wait to see what she writes next!
I adored this book! Kate is down on her luck nothing is going right for her and now she has to share an office floor and work on a new idea with the last person she wants, Harry. She wants to prove herself and by doing that she has to work with Harry and she isn’t his biggest fan. But, the more time they spend together will feelings change?
This book had me laughing, awwing and just wanting to give Kate a big hug. She has been dealing with a lot and you can see how much she wants to prove herself and the company she works for by proving them she is capable.
Harry always seems happy go lucky and has everything going for him but he needs this just as much as Kate and you never know what someone is dealing with behind their smiles.
They have brilliant banter and wonderful chemistry that they had me gripped from start to finish. I really enjoyed every second off this story and I could not put it down once I started. Not only is this book about romance but it also shares a message about what we perceive on social media, pressure, feminism and always staying true to yourself.
A really enjoyable book from start to finish. This is one you won’t want to miss
