My thoughts A Friend to Trust is a Love Inspired romance set at a camp for boys at risk. It was a sweet romance and a sweet bonding with a young male camper whose mother sounded like a piece of work, but she was dating a really calm man who worked to intercede between the camp and the overprotective parent impatient with the counselors. I enjoyed the story. I absolutely adored the service dog. I was given a copy for you and all my opinions are my own.

I loved this sweet romance about second chances and trusting God and his timing. This series has been hit or miss for me and this one was hit.

Haley is a camp coordinator for a bunch of teenagers working alongside Pastor Nate. When Pastor Nate is told that one of the campers with a emotional support dog is Haley's child that she put up for adoption it's a secret he's having a hard time keeping.

This was a pretty good book I really enjoyed it. Clearly Pastor Nate had a big secret that he was keeping and it was only a matter of time before he was going to bite him in the butt. Both are seemingly trying to atone from sins of the past where Nate feels guilty about the death of his brother so is living kind of for him and then there is Haley who was a troubled teen who got into drugs and got pregnant and trying to better herself and clearly it's showing and she is doing so much better. It was interesting seeing how they work together and seeing the romance between each other summer. But again the secret could ultimately ruin everything once it comes out and it was interesting seeing how everything was handled in the end. I really enjoyed this book.

You can't go wrong with a Love Inspired book and this did not disappoint. I just loved the humans and their animal friends in this story!

If you enjoy stories about K-9's, second chances, and summer camp...this is the book for you. Haley and Nate have things in both of their pasts that they need to overcome. This book takes us through the summer with these two, on an adventure of second chance love.
Thank you to NetGalley, Lee Tobin McClain and Love Inspired for giving me this arc version in exchange for an honest review.

A Friend to Trust by Lee Tobin McClain is part of Love Inspired’s K-9 Companions series.

In this story, we return to Bright Horizons for summer camp. School cook, now camp co-director, Hayley has to work with the local pastor. Their friends have been trying to set them up with for awhile. Only, Hayley has a past that holds her back. So does Nate.

I’ve been very much looking forward to this story, especially since I’ve read the past two books set at Bright Horizons. What pasts Hayley and Nate have to overcome … and how one camper and his K-9 fit into the story. It’s such a touching book. I already liked Hayley and Nate, but I loved them even more through the story. And the ending was so wonderful!

If you love K-9 stories and heartwarming romances, then grab a copy of A Friend to Trust.

This was such a cute novel.
It brought me back to my own camp days when I was a girl.
This little relaxing read was so good that didn't want it to end.
Sometimes I really wanted to shake Hannah to her senses! You can't do everything alone! Especially when you are dealing with a lot of kids and their parents! Oh my! I really couldn't imagine doing something like that. Not without help.
The dog was my favorite character. He made me want to reach out and pet him myself!
I loved every minute of this sweet and fast paced novel.
I hated saying goodbye to the boys and Pastor Nate and Hannah.
I highly recommend this sweet book.
5 stars for some excellent writing.

This is a Clean Romance, and this is the 14th book in the K-9 Companions series. I loved the dog in this book, and I found the dog to play an important part in this book. I did enjoy getting to know the characters in this book, but I just did not connect to the characters. I also did not think the characters were really developed, and I think I felt that way because they were hiding so much throughout this book. I think this was just an Ok read for me. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired) or author (Lee Tobin McClain) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

What a great read! Nate is wounded and clinging to a lie that affects his daily life. Hayley is broken by the pregnancy and adoption that now defines her life. Then Nate learns a huge truth he must keep a secret, while he works closely with Hayley for the summer. Knockout premise and can’t-put-down book!

Hayley and Nate have some serious issues that influence their lives. They have to work together as they co-direct the summer camp at Bright Tomorrow's. Nate knows a secret about the sweet woman and he is torn.
I received an advanced reader's copy of this book from Harlequin via NetGalley. It is part of a series which I have not read and is an excellent stand-alone book. There is a lot going on and the author has smoothly brought it all together with strong characters and back story. It is an emotional story centered on closed adoption and how it can affect the birth mother.
This is my own personal opinion about the book. I liked it. I feel it's an important story. I was slightly uncomfortable with how things were handled between mothers. I was glad to see that Nate, although a Pastor was not presented as pious and perfect. He was human and able to make mistakes like any Christian can and would. Thanks to the author and publisher for the book.

A Friend to Trust by Lee Tobin McClain was a great read. There are 28 at risk boys signed up for summer camp. One has his emotional support dog with him. See how they all interact together along with two of the counselors. Such a heartfelt and touching book and I highly recommend it.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and Harlequin Love Inspired for my honest review. All words are my own. This book will be published May 23, 2023.

Need a cozy, K9, and meaningful read? Then this book is for you. Good characters, deep lessons learned, and sweet dog love all work together to make this a wonderful story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. These characters are all dealing with real to life issues, and I appreciated the author’s way of walking each character through each struggle. What a great way to learn and apply good advice to our own lives, as we read about it with some likable characters. I recommend this book to anyone needing a good escape, a heart warming dog story, or some encouragement.

Lee Tobin McClain delivers an engaging, sweet romance set at a summer camp for troubled teens. McClain weaves an intriguing backstory for Hailey Harris. A true example of a life changed by Christ.

I loved the way McClain started Hailey and Nate’s story. They were part of the same circle of friends—friends that thought they would be a perfect match. Yet, their own weaknesses and insecurities kept them from being open to romance.

McClain introduced a secret about Hailey that Nate learned only because of his position as a pastor. This secret was a wonderful plot twist that will delight readers. I enjoyed the way the author kept this going and resolved it at just the right time.

I am a dog-lover (have two of my own fur-babies), so including an emotional support dog for a pivotal minor character, one of the campers, became one of my favorite parts of the story.
I would strongly recommend this book for fans of clean, sweet, Christian romance. This story has plenty of interesting tropes and twists. Bravo for writing about a single pastor too!

Genre: Christian Romance, Inspirational Romance, Contemporary Romance
Location: Colorado
Romance: Very clean. Light kissing.
Faith: Light references to Christian practices. Main character is a pastor.
