James was neither a grump, nor a bosswhole, so the title leaves me perplexed with this one. Sure, he comes off a little grumpy on rare occasions, but who doesn't?! He treated his employees with respect, but had high (not unrealistic) expectations. That doesn't make him a bosshole.

James was a nightclub owner, rich, successful, and a devoted and loving father. I mean you can't hate the guy simply because we saw how doting he was on his little girl and how he did everything he possibly could to protect her and help her heal from a past trauma.

Kaitlyn is a therapist that James has hired to help his daughter overcome the fears trauma has left her with. But Kaitlyn meets James before a client/patient relationship enters the picture and they sleep together while Kaitlyn is in one of his clubs. Of course, they're both surprised when she shows up on his doorstep as his daughter's new therapist.

One would think at that point Kaitlyn would have become completely hands off, you know, for ethical reasons and all that. But that doesn't happen at all. I know a lot of professionals will be all over this book as a major ethics violation that the author should have known better to include and immediately discount the book. I honestly forgot about that while reading because well, I don't work in a healthcare profession. So for most of us, we'll overlook that little detail in favor of some taboo romance ;)

While I didn't love this book, it wasn't bad. Kaitlyn annoyed me quite often with her unrealistic expectations for her family and her naivety. And James' huge blowup at the end was unnecessary had he just taken the time to listen instead of assuming and shutting Kaitlyn out. The plot was completely predictable, right down to the villain that I called immediately after the person was introduced. I wanted more romance, but the most we got in any one chapter came in the epilogue (which was adorable).

A fun, quick read, easily finished in just under an hour. The characters were likeable and, while not relatable to me, they would be relatable to many others. The plot was predictable but still sweet. I look forward to reading the rest in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

I’m in love with this book!! One nightstand turned Boss x employee turned lovers and he’s a single dad?! Sign me the hell up. I’ll need to start reading more like this.
The way James cared deeply for Harper had my heart melting and earned him so many bonus points. Always putting her first and making sure she had the best!! His and Kaitlyn's chemistry from the start was undeniable and had me giggling and kicking my feet.
This story was written beautifully! I will be reading more from this author and purchasing this book in physical form asap!

Absolutely loved this book. I felt the genuine chemistry between Katie and James from the start. It was a little spicy but also very sweet. Harper also was a great character to bridge the gap.

Loved reading the awesome and engaging romance story. When Kaitlyn starts working for James, Mr. Grump, taking care of daughter, Kaitlyn and James' attraction for each other grows as Kaitlyn helps his daughter. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting love story. Can't wait for the next book in the series by the awesome author, Leslie North.

Quick read romance/BRAD book if you follow Beach Reads and Bubbly for the acronym. I liked reading about someone with an important job from the FMC point, and who wouldn’t love someone who’s there for your daughter? I think that some parts were expected, like knowing James would end up being Katie’s boss, but isn’t that what we love about these books? Sometimes that’s what we need in a romance, the expectations of a happy ending through it all.

This was a god story. The main characters were likeable and the romance was fun. One thing that was a very welcome surprise was the advocacy for mental health support and specifically for children. It was great to see this family come together to heal and build a beautiful future.

I really wish I could have sat down and read this all at once but my reading time over the past few days has been choppy. I found myself pulling the book up on my phone or kindle whenever I could. I was so invested in the story and couldn’t wait to keep reading it. I really wanted to see how Harper was doing as the days went on and see how Kaitlyn and James’ relationship progressed! I was even mopping my kitchen and thought about Lou 😒 and something clicked about him and who he was. I really wanted to see if I was right about that so I give myself the rest of the day to finish reading the book and I’m so glad I did!

A bachelorette party fumble leads Kaitlyn into the penthouse of billionaire club owner, James Morris. A phone call for Mr. Grump abruptly ends Kaitlyn’s one night to let loose in a way she’d rather not remember, but is forced to confront when taking on a new job, working for the bosshole himself.

There were so many elements to this story I really enjoyed!

James and Kaitlyn are both so devoted to protecting Harper and helping her recover from her trauma in a safe, loving environment.
James is pretty instantly smitten with his daughter’s therapist, but under the circumstances, James is reluctant to trust someone new.

Their reconciliation efforts were a bit “too little, too late” for my taste, but I really liked this little family!

- Single Dad
- One Night Stand
- Forced Proximity
- Forbidden - Not the nanny, but a similar feel in the dynamic
- Billionaire boss

Kaitlyn doesn’t do one night stands. James only does one night stands. Their night started off hot, but ended cold. To makes matters worse, or maybe better, turns out that James is Kaitlyn’s new temporary boss. She’ll be working as a live in therapist for his daughter who was kidnapped and is struggling with PTSD.

James is supposed to be grumpy, by title. I’m pretty sure this was supposed to be Grumpy x Sunshine. I think James is the least grumpy bosshole I’ve ever read. In fact, he’s not even a bosshole. I think the meanest he is, is towards his sister. What he does lack is communication. <spoiler> The third act breakup was so irritating. He could’ve avoided the whole misunderstanding if he simply…oh I don’t know…talked? Speaking of the third act breakup, saw it from the moment they introduced mr runner as Lou. Way too obvious.</spoiler>

Kaitlyn on the other hand, is a walking paradox. How could a heroine be both insightful (her work) and incredibly obtuse? <spoiler> The fact that she invited her estranged mother to her sister’s wedding, then CRIED about it when her sister was mad. Her sister had every reason to not want their mother there. And this woman, a therapist, decides it’s for the best for them all. The fact that James also coddles her afterwards also upset me. Also, I know it goes with the whole forbidden romance thing…but I don’t think any therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist would sleep with their client’s father. It was just a really weird angle. Would’ve preferred a nanny/au pair trope</spoiler>

Other than that, it’s a fairly average billionaire boss romance. The scenes were decent and the build up was pretty standard. I mean, I finished the book in 1.5 days so it’s an easy read. Could probably do it in 1 if I had the kind of time. So it’s not bad. It’s just standard .

0/5 stars! I read the premise and was like "ok'; this sounds kind of fun." Then I read it and wish I could get back those hours of my life because I am so extremely pissed off. The FMC is a mental health provider that, prepare yourself....SLEEPS with her patient's father; repeatedly, with no remorse or concern for how f*cked up that is. I'm in the mental health field as well and we have a code of ethics we have to follow. One of those is about multiple relationships. When your patient is a child, their parents still hold a role in the therapeutic relationship. AKA Don't f*ck your child patient's parents. I was disgusted and still am. Clearly the author didn't do their research or maybe they don't care. But its harmful as heck when we already have stigmas against seeking help. We do not need people assuming therapists are out there sleeping with family members of their patients. Just gross.

Mr Grump is my first experience reading a book by Leslie North and I really enjoyed it for the most part. Kaitlyn is a homebody. She attends a friends bachelorette party at a local club and ends up knocking over a tray of drinks onto a wealthy patron. Katie is known for being a bit of a stick in the mud but decides to do something daring like have a one night stand with the club owner who helps her clean up the mess. When she arrives at her new job a few days later as a live in child therapist she realizes her new clients father is the one night stand from the club. I have to admit, for a title like Mr Grump, I was expecting James to be a whole lot grumpier. James also could have done a WHOLE lot more groveling. There was a bit too much distrust when Kaitlyn gave no reason to be distrusted. This was fairly predictable but it didn't take away from the enjoyability. I'm interested in checking out Leslie North's other books in the future.

Complementary copy provided by NetGalley for my honest opinion. Leslie North is a genius with her books. She pulls you in and builds the characters beautifully, just as she did with James and Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn is a newly hired child psychologist that will work with James's daughter to help her move through the stages of recovery from trauma. The only complication is that the night before, Kaitlyn had her very first one night stand. She never knew it was her new boss until she walked in to the house the next day after being kicked out of his bed the night before. Alpha male and bossy female trope make this book fabulous.

This is the first of the Billionaire Bossholes series and it is off to a hot and spicy start! James is a single dad and his daughter and his business take priority over all, which means he doesn't have time for relationships. But when he meets Kaitlyn, he is undeniably drawn to her. Kaitlyn had a tough childhood growing up and as a result has put all her focus and efforts into her career. So for her own reasons, has also has not had much time for a social life herself. Their journey wasn't an easy one, filled with complications, tension, and some heartbreak along the way, but well worth it in the end.
I enjoyed this latest book from Ms North, filled with drama and intrigue, and look forward to reading more of this series.

This book was good. I loved the characters and the plot twist. That was really good. I do have to say at the beginning it was kind of hard to get into for me but other wise I loved it. And I really love the end of the book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Before going in to this book, I just thought it would be a sexy romantic with no plot, but I was wrong, this book was a big surprise, I loved it, it was fun and had me turning the page for more.

Tbh I wasn’t planing to read this book, but I wanted something to read on my kindle and iPad, I’m so glad I did choose this book, it’s not normally not the sort of thing I gravitate to, but I wanted to try and read out of my comfort zone and this was a pot of luck.

I love just going in to a book and thinking it going to be one out come when it just slaps you in the face with more enjoyment then you thought.

I picked this book soley based on the fact that this guy is shirtless- these covers get me every time. But you know what they say about “don’t judge a book by its cover”…well unfortunately, they are right!!

James is a billionaire who’s only personality trait is that he’s a stressed out billionaire. He is a goddamn drama queen who over reacts to all the things. I’m not sure where his wealth comes from bc he’s a night club owner in Miami who seems to be constantly comping free drinks and VIP upgrades to everyone- this is a poor business model. I’m gonna need to see his tax returns bc methinks James is rich bc he’s a trust fund baby

James’s kid was kidnapped and now has Ptsd (boner killer alert). He hires Kaitlyn to be her live in counselor/nanny. Kaitlyn’s only personality trait is that she’s perfect (me too, girl, me too). But actually she’s not perfect: she’s bland AF, naïve AF, and dense AF. While she’s great with kids it’s bc her EQ is about that of an 8 year old. James and Kaitlyn have a one night stand before she starts working for him and of course it’s the best sex this vanilla bortch has ever had. She shows up to work (apparently never having interviewed with her overprotective, control freak boss in person) and surprise…she fucked her boss!!! Of course James is a greedy a-hole and makes a very weak attempt at staying away from Kaitlyn but then gives up and starts sleeping with the help and making shit confusing for his kid who’s had a lot of trauma. And then he falls in love. And then he acts like the worst dickstain that has ever dicked. And then Kaitlyn forgives him bc she’s an idiot and deserves the misery that will come from being his wife. The end.

It wasn’t the best book ever. While I didn’t hate it, I didn’t really like any character. I swore at Kaitlyn’s poor choices many times. James showed little growth and will likely never change.
