An important story on marriage. Raw and so real.
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
This is a doozy of a book. Of course, Key’s trademark wit rules every chapter, just like in his previous books. I loved the one-liners and laughed out loud countless times. The humor was a necessary foil to the content of the book, full of pain, grief, and loss. The author documents the dissolution of his relationship with his wife with unflinching vulnerability and self-reflection. As someone who is neither married nor religious, I was skeptical about how much I would take away from this book, but I loved every page.
Readers will need to adjust to the tone and pace of this book: the sentence structure is similar to a comedy monologue, which is to be expected when a comedian writes a book about his wife's affair and his religious beliefs, but it does take a few chapters to fall into the rhythm.
